Qi Ran’s message arrived several hours earlier than Lin An’an and Feng Wu had expected.

The moment they received it, neither of them wasted any time. They immediately headed for the safehouse where the research lab was located.

Qi Ran and his team had already started celebrating. The instant Feng Wu pushed open the door with the little cub in tow, a huge burst of confetti rained down from above, covering both man and cub from head to toe.

Lin An’an: “…Yingji.”

Qi Ran burst out laughing and offered an utterly insincere apology. “Sorry, sorry. I got a little too excited.”

Feng Wu asked, “How long will that take, approximately?”

Qi Ran did a quick calculation in his head. “If nothing unexpected happens, about ten days.”

“Good.” Feng Wu nodded. “We’ve already arranged a pharmaceutical factory. The Qiu family has one among their family businesses, and we trust their facilities.”

After the three of them discussed the follow-up details, Feng Wu didn’t linger any longer. He immediately brought the little cub back to the farmhouse villa.

Still not getting it, Xiong Yingjun turned to Si Youlin, who had already followed Lin An’an’s line of thinking.

Si Youlin explained, “Remember what Xia Yuanhan wanted to do to the boss? What An’an means is that we turn that right back on him. The more eagerly he tries to save people now, the more all the money and effort he puts in will become the strongest possible evidence, once the truth comes out, that he staged the whole thing himself.”

Lin An’an nodded approvingly. “Exactly.”

And that money had to be wrung out of Xia Yuanhan before they exposed him. If it was spent before he was revealed, then it could serve as evidence against him. But if they waited until after his crimes were exposed and only then made him pay, it would merely become part of his atonement.

Lin An’an had no intention of allowing that.

Getting Xia Yuanhan’s “funding” turned out to be even easier than Lin An’an had expected.

Right after Qi Ran’s team announced that the first round of clinical trials had been a major success, Xia Yuanhan contacted them before Feng Wu and Lin An’an even had the chance to approach him. He publicly declared that he would personally cover the treatment costs for all Empire patients still on Sin Star.

Taken together, the treatment costs for everyone were obviously an enormous sum. But Xia Yuanhan didn’t even blink, acting as though he were truly that righteous and selfless.

“Mm.” Feng Wu nodded. “The planet chosen for the transit station has been named Watchstar. Do you want to go see it?”

“Of course I do,” Lin An’an answered honestly.

“Alright, then we’ll go too.” Feng Wu said, “This time we won’t have to sneak out. The First Legion has already set up testing points on Sin Star. If the results are clear three days in a row, we’ll be issued permission to leave.”

Lin An’an counted it out. “Today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow… so that means we leave the day after tomorrow, right?”

“Right. Zhang Yifeng will be going with us,” Feng Wu said. “When the time comes for us to head to the capital for Auntie’s memorial banquet, he’ll disguise himself as me and remain on Watchstar.”

Lin An’an immediately understood why Feng Wu had arranged it that way.
