Monster Cub Live Stream – CH66

Chapter 66

Qi Ran’s message arrived several hours earlier than Lin An’an and Feng Wu had expected.

The moment they received it, neither of them wasted any time. They immediately headed for the safehouse where the research lab was located.

Qi Ran and his team had already started celebrating. The instant Feng Wu pushed open the door with the little cub in tow, a huge burst of confetti rained down from above, covering both man and cub from head to toe.

Feng Wu: “…”

Lin An’an: “…Yingji.”

Qi Ran burst out laughing and offered an utterly insincere apology. “Sorry, sorry. I got a little too excited.”

Feng Wu waved it off.

One of the researchers stepped forward and handed over all the data from this round of testing. A lot of it was too technical for Feng Wu to fully interpret, but Lin An’an could understand it perfectly well.

The man and cub quickly worked through the entire report. When they reached the final page and saw the bold red words First Clinical Trial Successful, both of them couldn’t help smiling.

Qi Ran said, “This is only the first successful clinical trial. We still need at least four more rounds before we can be absolutely certain there are no issues. Only then can we move into formal large-scale production.”

Feng Wu asked, “How long will that take, approximately?”

Qi Ran did a quick calculation in his head. “If nothing unexpected happens, about ten days.”

“Good.” Feng Wu nodded. “We’ve already arranged a pharmaceutical factory. The Qiu family has one among their family businesses, and we trust their facilities.”

After the three of them discussed the follow-up details, Feng Wu didn’t linger any longer. He immediately brought the little cub back to the farmhouse villa.

The moment they arrived home, Lin An’an jumped down and shifted back into human form.

“For the funding for drug production, we can get Sister Yubai to handle the Federation side. As for the third faction outside the Federation and the Empire, it’s too chaotic. Aside from Octopus Bro’s organization, there are all sorts of other groups…”

Zhang Yifeng said, “I’ll handle the star pirate side’s funding.”

Lin An’an gave him a meaningful look. “There are a lot of people among Sin Star’s third faction. If you’re planning to cover all of them… you’d better be prepared to bleed heavily.”

“Who said I was covering everyone?” Zhang Yifeng raised a brow. “There are indeed a lot of people in the third faction, but most of them already belong to some organization. If their own organizations are willing to pay for them, then great. If not, the vast majority of them have enough savings to pay for the special medicine themselves.”

He curved his lips. “Only the ones who can’t afford it even out of pocket are the ones we’ll take over.”

Lin An’an understood at once. “Helping them in their darkest hour? Expanding your power while you’re at it?”

Zhang Yifeng nodded openly. “Exactly.”

For people who had already been driven to the brink, extending a hand to save them at that moment would naturally earn not only gratitude, but often intense loyalty.

Those people might not all be top-tier in strength, but they would absolutely become the most loyal group within an organization.

Zhang Yifeng had been lying low on Sin Star for so long. If he wanted to quickly recover his previous status and power after leaving Sin Star, this was undoubtedly the fastest and most effective way.

Besides, from the perspective of the people being saved, being able to buy back the rest of their lives simply by switching organizations was a bargain too good to refuse.

Lin An’an brought the topic back. “As for the Empire side…”

He paused, apparently thinking. Si Youlin picked up the thread. “The First Legion’s reserves are more than sufficient. Should we—”

“No.” Lin An’an waved his hand. “Why should the First Legion be the one footing this bill? Xia Yuanhan is the one who caused this mess, so naturally he’s the one who should pay to clean it up.”

Xiong Yingjun scratched his head in confusion. “Make Xia Yuanhan pay? Do you think he’d really be willing to?”

“He absolutely won’t refuse.” Lin An’an let out a soft laugh. “He’d love nothing more than to spend even more money if it lets him make up for his earlier ‘mistakes’ and build himself a new righteous, shining image in front of the public. Since we’re putting such a perfect opportunity right in front of him, how could he possibly turn it down?”

Xiong Yingjun looked even more lost. “But if you do that, wouldn’t all the credit just end up going to him this time?”

“If he were nothing more than a simple sponsor, then yes, the money he puts out would naturally become part of his merit.” Lin An’an’s gaze turned cold. “But unfortunately, he isn’t.”

Still not getting it, Xiong Yingjun turned to Si Youlin, who had already followed Lin An’an’s line of thinking.

Si Youlin explained, “Remember what Xia Yuanhan wanted to do to the boss? What An’an means is that we turn that right back on him. The more eagerly he tries to save people now, the more all the money and effort he puts in will become the strongest possible evidence, once the truth comes out, that he staged the whole thing himself.”

Lin An’an nodded approvingly. “Exactly.”

And that money had to be wrung out of Xia Yuanhan before they exposed him. If it was spent before he was revealed, then it could serve as evidence against him. But if they waited until after his crimes were exposed and only then made him pay, it would merely become part of his atonement.

Lin An’an had no intention of allowing that.

Getting Xia Yuanhan’s “funding” turned out to be even easier than Lin An’an had expected.

Right after Qi Ran’s team announced that the first round of clinical trials had been a major success, Xia Yuanhan contacted them before Feng Wu and Lin An’an even had the chance to approach him. He publicly declared that he would personally cover the treatment costs for all Empire patients still on Sin Star.

Taken together, the treatment costs for everyone were obviously an enormous sum. But Xia Yuanhan didn’t even blink, acting as though he were truly that righteous and selfless.

In truth, Lin An’an knew perfectly well that Xia Yuanhan didn’t care about the money only because Xia Jiyuan was already under his control. And by extension, that meant Xia Jiyuan’s entire fortune had effectively become his.

With an asset pool that huge, of course Xia Yuanhan wouldn’t care about spending this amount.

The moment Xia Yuanhan signed the relevant agreements, the corresponding topic was pushed onto the trending list on StarNet almost instantly. The gap between the two events wasn’t even a full minute. Clearly, he had arranged the whole thing ahead of time.

Lin An’an glanced at Xia Yuanhan’s Starblog post. Though he knew the man wouldn’t be smug for much longer, he still couldn’t stop himself from muttering a few curses under his breath.

Feng Wu soothed him with a light stroke over the head. “Mo Dexin just told me that the people building the transit station will depart first thing tomorrow morning.”

Lin An’an perked up at once. “Tomorrow already?”

“Mm.” Feng Wu nodded. “The planet chosen for the transit station has been named Watchstar. Do you want to go see it?”

“Of course I do,” Lin An’an answered honestly.

“Alright, then we’ll go too.” Feng Wu said, “This time we won’t have to sneak out. The First Legion has already set up testing points on Sin Star. If the results are clear three days in a row, we’ll be issued permission to leave.”

Lin An’an counted it out. “Today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow… so that means we leave the day after tomorrow, right?”

“Right. Zhang Yifeng will be going with us,” Feng Wu said. “When the time comes for us to head to the capital for Auntie’s memorial banquet, he’ll disguise himself as me and remain on Watchstar.”

Lin An’an immediately understood why Feng Wu had arranged it that way.

If “Feng Wu” remained behind on Watchstar, it would greatly reduce Xia Yuanhan’s vigilance. After all, in Xia Yuanhan’s eyes, the most troublesome person in the First Legion was Feng Wu.

Zhang Yifeng’s build wasn’t far from Feng Wu’s, so he was the perfect stand-in.

Two days later, Feng Wu and Lin An’an successfully obtained their travel permits.

They were genuinely the first batch of patients to leave Sin Star, yet not a single person across the entire StarNet had any objection.

Watchstar was a barren planet. The living conditions there were even worse than the outskirts of Sin Star. As far as the eye could see, there was only yellow sand, not the slightest hint of green.

Lin An’an clicked his tongue. “Now this is what you call land completely unsuited for farming.”

The first thing he did upon arriving on Watchstar was turn on a livestream.

This was the promise he had made to all the netizens of Sin Star—no, all the netizens in the galaxy. He had said he would bring them along to watch the construction of the transit station live.

For them, this really was the sort of moment that could stir the heart.

[Here to witness history!]

[Dropping by early to take a look at the place I’ll be visiting in the future [rubbing hands excitedly jpg]]

It wasn’t easy to find a truly suitable construction zone on this planet. To save time, the building team simply picked an open area at random and decided to use technology to compensate for the harsh environment.

The construction team sent by Mo Dexin was highly professional. In less than two days, the foundation of the Empire transit station had already been completed.

The team leader told Lin An’an that the Empire transit station was planned on a fairly large scale. Once the first group of buildings was completed, it would be able to house one hundred thousand people at the same time.

Compared with the total number of Sin Star patients, that capacity was obviously nowhere near enough. But this was only the first transit station. There would be a second, a third, and more after that.

Only when every single patient from Sin Star had been returned to their respective homes would the transit stations on Watchstar truly have fulfilled their mission.

“The first transit station is expected to take about one week to complete,” the team leader said. “After one week, people can begin moving in one after another.”

[Only one week? That’s so fast!!!]

[An’an’s healing fruits and vegetables really work. My symptoms weren’t severe to begin with, and today’s test already came back clear. As long as tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are also clear, I can get my Alpha recovery certificate! [aaaah jpg]]

[Countdown to leaving Sin Star!]

[It feels like a dream. Not long ago I was still breaking down and asking why I had to get Alpha, and today I’m already planning what I want to do after I get home]

[It really feels like a whole lifetime has passed…]

[I honestly never, ever thought we’d live to see the day we could leave Sin Star. Back when I was diagnosed with Alpha, I’d already prepared myself to spend the rest of my life there [crying cat jpg]]

[Thank you, An’an! Thank you, Marshal Feng! Thank you, research team… thank you, everyone [sobbing uncontrollably jpg]]

[And we should thank ourselves too, for holding on this whole time [trying not to cry jpg]]

Seeing the comments, the little cub blinked and curved his eyes at the camera.

[Things are definitely going to keep getting better!]
