Chapter 92: Transmigrated as a Fraudulent Male Streamer (16)
Cen Yu couldn’t see the hand’s movements clearly at all. He could only feel those icy fingers continuously caressing his neck—one hand pressing against the protruding joint at the back of his nape, while the other slowly traced his cheek, gently rubbing the tear-mole beneath his eye.
The tactile sensation was so impossibly vivid, yet in Cen Yu’s line of sight, there was absolutely nothing on his neck or cheek.
It was as if all of it were merely a figment of his imagination.
“…” Forget it.
Cen Yu decided to ignore the hand altogether and push onward with his investigation in this abandoned teaching building.
The classroom doors were all standing wide open, revealing old desks and benches that hadn’t been cleared away—presumably left behind because He Yongning had donated better ones later on… He stepped into the class nearest to him.
The classroom was coated in dust, with a thick layer accumulated on the desks and chairs.
On the desk surfaces were various marks left behind by students back in the day—
Casual doodles of little flowers, sticky tape residue, and all sorts of odd phrases and names scribbled in ballpoint and gel pens.
Whether by sheer coincidence or deliberate plot design, Cen Yu realized that the classroom he had walked into was likely the exact one where Pei Hengyun and the others had spent three years.
For on a corner of the desk directly before his eyes, he spotted the rich second-generation heir’s name, accompanied by a endlessly repeated phrase below: I want to go home.
At the thought, Cen Yu looked up… squinting his eyes toward the area that likely belonged to Pei Hengyun and his group.
He remembered they used to sit on the side by the windows.
So he picked his way over, slowly lowering his head to examine the information written across the desk surfaces. He scanned desk after desk, until he finally discovered “Jiang Tuan” written in ballpoint pen on one of them.
Cen Yu immediately looked up, turning his eyes to the desk directly behind it.
This was the shared desk of Pei Hengyun and He Yongning.
Thinking of this, he stepped closer to the desk, only for that invisible hand to grab his arm right at that moment, as if trying to stop him from going over.
“…It’s bad enough you’re acting like a pervert, but why do you love getting in my way so much?” Cen Yu scowled.
He wished he could kick this ghost right off him.
Reaching out, he directly grabbed that invisible, ice-cold hand. “You better behave yourself, or I’ll break every ghost finger you have!” he threatened fiercely.
Unsure whether the entity sensed Cen Yu’s displeasure or simply couldn’t remain out for too long, after Cen Yu’s tirade of threats, it actually vanished into thin air… Cen Yu stared at the now empty classroom, lost in thought.
Without that thing holding him back, he naturally arrived at Pei Hengyun’s desk.
The cubby inside the desk was completely bare; when they migrated to the new teaching building, the previous owner of the desk had obviously cleaned out its contents long ago.
He bent over to inspect the writing on the desktop, discovering that one side of the surface was remarkably clean, devoid of any scribbles whatsoever. Even with a thick layer of dust accumulated over the years, it was clear that its owner had taken great care of it back then.
Or perhaps because it was kept so pristine and well-preserved, even after it changed hands later on, subsequent owners hadn’t ruined it with doodles either.
Inexplicably, Cen Yu just knew this was undeniably He Yongning’s desk.
He then glanced at the adjacent side, which should belong to Pei Hengyun—
On this side of the desk was a massive smear of correction fluid right at the corner. Aside from this blot, the rest of the surface was actually covered with scribbles of various basketball star names…
“…” This was Pei Hengyun’s desk?
Cen Yu thought to himself, talk about a total personality shift!
How could the current Pei Hengyun show zero interest in basketball stars whatsoever?
“Hey, you really are in here.”
Just as Cen Yu was pondering, he caught the sound of voices at the classroom doorway.
Looking over, he saw Pei Hengyun, He Yongning, and the others standing there. The moment Jiang Tuan looked into the room and his eyes met Cen Yu’s, a flicker of evasion flashed through his gaze…
“Little Yu, how did you know this was our classroom?” Pei Hengyun walked slowly into the room.
Perhaps because he was backlit, though his face still carried a smile, the gentle impression he usually gave off was entirely absent.
He stepped up to Cen Yu and took his hand. “I almost couldn’t find you just now.”
“He’s not a kid, he won’t get lost,” Jiang Tuan chimed in.
Following them into the classroom, he looked at his old desk with a trace of nostalgia, then turned to suggest, “Right, there’s a basketball court downstairs. How about we play a game?”
He Yongning nodded. “Sure.”
He then looked toward Pei Hengyun. “Together?”
Pei Hengyun, however, offered an apologetic smile. “It’s been too long since I played basketball, I’m a bit rusty.”
“It’s fine, I haven’t played in a long time either,” He Yongning said nonchalantly, acting as though he were set on having Pei Hengyun join them. “It just so happens Yu Sheng is here. The P.E. teacher is on duty today, we can just ask him for a basketball.”
Although Jiang Tuan didn’t understand why He Yongning suddenly had such a strong urge to play basketball, being able to play with old friends again made him very happy. He immediately dragged Yu Sheng along to borrow a basketball.
Pei Hengyun watched Jiang Tuan drag Yu Sheng away. Though the smile remained on his face, it failed to reach his eyes.
It was as if, at this moment, he suddenly couldn’t be bothered to put on the act of the gentle art teacher Pei Hengyun anymore, laying bare his true colors.
Standing to the side, He Yongning naturally caught the shift in Pei Hengyun’s gaze. He glanced at Cen Yu, who seemed lost in thought, and said, “Since they went to get the basketball, let’s head down first.”
As He Yongning spoke, he turned to ask Cen Yu, “Do you like playing basketball?”
“If you like it, you can play with us.”
Cen Yu pondered for a moment. In his memories, the original host didn’t seem to have specified whether he liked basketball or not—after all, as a short horror novel, this exploration streamer Cen Yu had a very simple background, and the content transmitted into his head was merely a fragmented background introduction.
Cen Yu didn’t become a streamer out of passion; it was purely for the money.
He was terrible at video games, and being a beauty streamer didn’t work out, so he simply became an outdoor exploration streamer instead.
Thinking about it this way… the common thread between this persona and the one from the previous world was probably that he was extremely broke.
“…” What a crappy common thread.
Could I get something good for once?
Cen Yu complained inwardly, but after carefully scanning his memories once more, he still failed to find anything related to playing basketball. Just as he was about to tell He Yongning that he had no interest in basketball, the words shifted the instant he opened his mouth.
“Playing basketball? I’m pretty interested.”
Cen Yu looked toward Pei Hengyun. “Count me in.”
He Yongning’s gaze lingered on Cen Yu, his thoughts unreadable.
Pei Hengyun, meanwhile, merely donned his gentle mask once again. “Really? That’s great then.”
He spoke with smiles and pleasantries, yet in his heart, he had already pronounced He Yongning’s death sentence.
