Chapter 104: Prison Terror — Part One
After casually tidying up the room, everyone sat down. Zheng Jiahe leaned toward Zhan Yun and whispered, “Brother Zhan, don’t you think this place feels kind of… weird?”
Zhan Yun shot him a sideways glance. “Heh—so you’re the only smart one here?”
“The boss really is the boss, hehe…” Zheng Jiahe immediately shrank his neck and laughed awkwardly.
“Cheng Qi, go switch with Wu Jing and keep an eye on our vehicles.” Wu Jing’s ability was well-suited for covert reconnaissance. With Cheng Qi, Song Chengshu, and Zhang Shuoliang guarding the vehicles, there was no need to worry about their safety.
“Got it.” Cheng Qi patted his clothes and walked straight out of the room.
As soon as the door opened, everyone living in the prison cells outside turned their heads in unison toward them. Because of the dim lighting, their expressions couldn’t be seen clearly, but it inexplicably gave off a creepy feeling.
Not long after, Wu Jing arrived. The moment she entered, everyone noticed her tightly furrowed brows. She was usually calm and steady, rarely showing such an expression.
“Xiao Jing, what’s wrong?” Cheng Jiao, one of the only two women on the team along with Wu Jing, asked with concern.
“I don’t like the way they look at us.” Those probing gazes—half-hidden yet ever-present—felt like thorns in her back, deeply uncomfortable.
“Hmph! What are you staring at?!” Cheng Jiao had always been hot-tempered. She immediately stepped outside, her abilities surging. In an instant, fierce winds howled through the cell block, knocking over all the fire basins people had gathered around. Screams rang out one after another.
At that moment, Zhan Yun whispered a few words to Zhao Bing. Zhao Bing went out to coax Cheng Jiao back, then walked room to room, smiling as he apologized to the others. “Heh, sorry, sorry—my little sister’s got a bit of a temper.”
As he apologized, blazing flames rose from his palms. Since Zhao Bing’s ability level had already reached the peak of Level Two, the temperature of his fire was extremely high. Even from a distance, people could feel the scorching heat.
Ignoring the fear on their faces, Zhao Bing quickly flicked out several fireballs, relighting their fire basins, then turned and left without another word.
With two ability users displaying their power in succession, the people outside shrank back like quails, no longer daring to look in their direction.
Before long, Fifth Master arrived with some men pushing a cart to deliver dinner. On it sat a large canteen soup pot—about fifty liters—enough to cook soup for over a hundred people.
Fifth Master personally lifted the lid, and a rich meaty aroma wafted out. It was a pot of fresh meat soup, with dough bits and some cabbage added in. He had his men ladle a large bowl of dough soup for each member of Zhan Yun’s team, and the rest was pushed out to the cell block.
The people outside had long been drooling at the smell. As soon as the pot was wheeled over, they rushed forward in a frenzy, scrambling to grab some.
“Come, come, don’t be shy—eat while it’s hot!” Fifth Master called out cheerfully.
Holding the fragrant bowl, Zhan Yun asked calmly, “As expected of Fifth Master. Even at a time like this, you still have such fresh meat to eat.”
“Hahaha, just good luck catching a mutated foolish roe deer. It tastes great—hurry and try it!”
“It’s too hot. We’ll let it cool a bit before eating.” As he spoke, his gaze casually drifted toward the people outside who were scrambling for food.
“Alright, no problem. Should I also send meals to those by the vehicles…?”
“No need. Everyone in the vehicles is sick. If something spreads, that’d be bad. Just leave their portions here—we’ll take it to them ourselves.”
“Alright then. Enjoy your meal. I’ll have someone come collect the bowls later.” Fifth Master could tell they were wary of him, but he kept smiling, showing no sign of displeasure as he led his men away.
Once the door was closed, Zhan Yun had Su Ruizhe take out a larger container. Everyone poured their bowls of dough soup into it, then Su Ruizhe stored it away in his space.
No one said anything. They all assumed Zhan Yun was guarding against the food being tampered with. Meat was rare, but for Zhan Yun’s team it wasn’t particularly tempting. After all, they had Su Ruizhe—basically a cheat code—whose space held chicken, duck, fish, and meat of every kind. They could eat whenever they wanted; there was no need to covet a bit of soup. Yu Dongdong curled up obediently on the bed, though his eyes kept drifting longingly toward Su Ruizhe. After all, he was still a child and easily tempted by food.
Amused by his cuteness, Su Ruizhe put the things away and took out bread for everyone, giving Yu Dongdong two sausages in particular.
“Thank you, big brother!” Yu Dongdong’s little face instantly lit up with a sweet smile. He tore open the sausage wrapper and gnawed on it like a little mouse, even breaking off a piece to feed Xiao Hei.
Su Ruizhe and Zhan Yun carried bowls, pretending to deliver food to the people in the vehicles, then returned with empty bowls. In reality, they had simply handed out bread as well.
Setting the empty bowls on the floor, everyone filled their stomachs a bit with bread, then lay down on the beds and closed their eyes to rest.
Not long after, Fifth Master sent two people to collect the bowls. When they saw the bowls on the floor—clean as a whistle, not even a bone left—mocking smiles flickered at the corners of their mouths, though they quickly concealed them. Lowering their heads, they picked up the bowls and hurried away.
After they left, Zhan Yun signaled to Wu Jing. She immediately, silently transformed into a wisp of mist and drifted after the two men.
As they walked, carrying the bowls, they whispered to each other. “Heh heh, thought they were something special. Turns out they’re just like people who’ve never seen meat before.”
“Exactly. Didn’t even leave a bone scrap. Must’ve chewed up the bones too.”
“Hahaha.” Laughing, the two headed toward the small building ahead.
“So? Did they all eat?” Fifth Master was waiting eagerly at the door.
“They ate, they ate.” The two raised the empty bowls. “Cleaned everything—didn’t leave a single scrap.”
“Did they say anything?”
“Nothing…”
“Hm?” Fifth Master frowned slightly.
“When we went in, they were all lying down. Probably tired. Maybe they didn’t notice the special effects of the meat soup?”
“Asleep?” Fifth Master’s brows immediately relaxed. Ignoring their puzzled expressions, he turned and went upstairs to find Cao Qishen.
He knocked for a while before Cao Qishen slowly came to open the door. A strong scent of musk hit him in the face, and Fifth Master vaguely glimpsed a stark white body on the bed inside.
“What is it?” Cao Qishen asked.
“Boss, they ate,” Fifth Master said, briefly explaining the situation.
“Haha, excellent. Since they ate it, they won’t be able to run.” Cao Qishen revealed a chilling smile. “Tell the brothers to stay alert tonight.”
“Hehe, no problem.” Fifth Master wore an equally sinister, ruthless smile. “Last time Lin Rui disappeared, I suspected it was them. Too bad they ran fast. This time, running into us—it’s their bad luck.”
After that, Fifth Master left. Wu Jing continued to follow him and saw him gather dozens of people, all assembled in a room awaiting orders. Judging by their appearance, more than half of them were ability users.
As night deepened, the group sat quietly in the room, warming themselves around a fire. Their greedy, gloomy gazes were fixed on the direction of the cell block, like serial killers in a horror movie.
“Wait another hour. Once they’re sound asleep, Second Brother, you take some men to seize the vehicles. We don’t know who’s on them. Even though they ate the meat, they’re ability users after all—probably have some unusual tricks. Be careful.”
“Understood.”
“The rest of you follow me to the back. You all know what to do, right?”
“Yes!”
“That’s more than a dozen high-level ability users. Not only can their ability cores be used for upgrades—their flesh also contains energy.”
“Ah, what a pity. Those two girls are pretty cute…”
“Then we’ll show a bit of mercy. Have the doctor perform surgery, dig out their ability cores, and just don’t take their lives.”
“Hehehe, that’s a good idea!”
“The boss seems quite interested in that young guy. Have the doctor take special care of him too,” Fifth Master suddenly added.
“Of course, of course. Anyone the boss fancies must be kept. Kill all the rest—hey, that’ll be exactly eight ability cores! The eight bosses split them, and we split the remaining meat. Everyone levels up!”
“Exactly! Once our abilities are as strong as theirs, we won’t have to worry about zombie sieges anymore! We can rebuild the base—and even go seize that so-called Southern Base!”
“Hahahahaha.”
Listening to this group’s delusional conversation, Wu Jing felt that if she were still in human form, her spine would be icy cold and goosebumps would be all over her body.

[Moshang’s Mini-Sketch]
Boss Cao: This kid sure is handsome. Let uncle take a good look.
Fifth Master: Boss Cao, that won’t do, that won’t do. These two are really powerful—we can’t covet them in broad daylight.
Boss Cao: True enough. Then do a good job entertaining them. (We can hehe later tonight.)
Little Zhan Yun: Come on, bring it on. Let’s see who messes with whom!
