Mountain God’s Forest Farm – CH72

The Eagle Mountain God

Chapter 72: The Eagle Mountain God

The old doctor asked for paper and a pen and wrote prescriptions for them on the spot.

He had worked as a doctor his entire life, and there were many prescriptions involving woad root stored in his mind.

Those prescriptions turned into vigorous handwriting, flowing from the old doctor’s pen.

Ying Kongtu looked at them carefully.

During his long years as a mountain god, he had seen most of these prescriptions before, and he was also clear on their therapeutic effects and usage contraindications.

Soon, the old doctor laid out seven prescriptions in a row and turned to look at them. “Take a look. Which ones do you want?”

After careful consideration, Ying Kongtu pulled out one of them. “This one is enough. We don’t have enough herbs, so we’ll choose a simple one.”

The prescription Ying Kongtu wanted only required three herbs—woad root, honeysuckle, and forsythia. It was an excellent prescription for treating wind-heat colds.

All three herbs could be produced on his mountain. Even if he did not have them for the time being, he could gradually plant and gather them.

Holding the prescription, Ying Kongtu said to the old doctor, “Thank you. This prescription is far too useful to us.”

“It was no trouble.” The old doctor smilingly put away the other prescriptions and said, “Even if I didn’t write it for you, you could find plenty by searching online.”

“That won’t do. For non-professionals like us to casually find a prescription online and give it to patients would harm both others and ourselves, wouldn’t it?”

Ying Kongtu put the prescription away and added, “We don’t have honeysuckle or forsythia here for now, so we’ll have to trouble you to introduce us to a reliable source of herbs.”

“That’s easy. I guarantee I’ll find good ones for you.”

The old doctor immediately gave Ying Kongtu and Wen Zhongshan the names and contact information of several pharmacies, saying that the herbs from those pharmacies were all quite good.

The old doctor had no intention of interfering with the follow-up matters and only told Ying Kongtu and Wen Zhongshan to contact them on their own.

This had already been a great help.

After discussing the prescription, everyone continued sitting and chatting.

When it was time to eat, the two of them even kept them for a meal.

In the afternoon, after a satisfying conversation, the old doctor and Yue Chengmao took their leave.

Seeing that the old doctor liked their tea, Ying Kongtu specially packed some for him, and also gave him two bottles of honey produced by their own family.

These two bottles of honey were from the last harvest, mainly rapeseed-flower mixed honey.

Although this honey could not yet be considered honey nourished by divine power, it was already top-grade honey on the market.

The old doctor’s eyes lit up as soon as he saw it. “Good stuff!”

Ying Kongtu smiled and said, “High-mountain honey produced by our own family. Try it.”

“This really is good honey. Then I won’t stand on ceremony.” The old doctor said, “I also have an unreasonable request.”

Ying Kongtu replied seriously, “Please say it. If there is anything we can help with, we definitely will.”

The old doctor waved his hand. “Not right now. The herbs you grow are truly good, and the herbs from the mountain are good too. In the future, I might have to trouble you to help find some herbs.”

Ying Kongtu agreed at once. “No problem. As long as we can find them, and as long as it doesn’t break the law.”

The old doctor smiled. “Of course.”

Ying Kongtu and Wen Zhongshan personally saw them to the roadside.

This old Doctor Zhai spoke frankly, handled matters generously, and possessed quite the heart of a healer.

Ying Kongtu liked this old doctor very much.

After their car left, Ying Kongtu turned back to Wen Zhongshan and said, “I think Doctor Zhai’s suggestion is quite good. What do you think?”

“Hiring a pharmacist as customer service?”

“Yes. We can’t keep troubling the delivery guys to act as customer service.” Ying Kongtu kicked a pebble at his feet. “I want to rent or buy another shop in the county, the kind with a big backyard. That way, storing, drying, packaging, and so on for the herbs can all be done in the shop, and the house won’t be made so messy.”

Wen Zhongshan held his hand. “I’ll go ask around later.”

“No need.” Ying Kongtu looked up and smiled. “Let’s ask Xing Chang first. His mother will definitely know.”

Changchuan County had many detached houses.

It was not difficult for Ying Kongtu and the others to find a street-facing shop with a large backyard.

In just a week, they found a suitable shop and bought it.

Houses in a small place were not expensive and did not have much liquidity. They would not rise or fall by much, so buying it outright felt more secure.

They also hired a female pharmacist to serve as customer service, and put a new link in the online shop.

At the same time, the forsythia and honeysuckle they bought had also arrived.

Ying Kongtu carefully examined them himself.

Although he was not a doctor, he was very familiar with natural medicinal herbs and could tell that the forsythia and honeysuckle sent by the pharmacy were indeed good herbs.

They were more than enough to use in the prescription.

The new link went up. For the time being, business was not much, but as long as the online shop could maintain a profit, that was already very good for them. In any case, there was no rush.

That day, Tiaozhu and the others went up the mountain to patrol, while Wen Zhongshan went to handle the relevant certificates for the online shop.

Ying Kongtu was home alone, simmering medicinal oil in the courtyard with a small ceramic stove.

According to his estimate, the oil would be ready a little after eleven and would not delay lunch.

Unexpectedly, just after ten, footsteps came from outside.

Wen Zhongshan pushed open the courtyard gate and said, “I’m back.”

Ying Kongtu hurriedly fumbled to tidy up the medicinal stove. Covering it was wrong, hiding it was wrong, and in the end, after turning in place twice, he could only stand there and ask dryly, “You’re back?”

Wen Zhongshan cast him a puzzled look. “Simmering medicinal oil?”

Under his gaze, Ying Kongtu slowly covered his face. Flustered, embarrassed, yet also amused, he cut him off. “Almond oil. It’s not for selling.”

Looking at his movements, Wen Zhongshan immediately understood what kind of medicinal oil it was. His face grew a little warm, but he also laughed. “Mm.”

Seeing him sit down beside him, Ying Kongtu kicked his foot. “What are you laughing at? Don’t you need it?”

“I do.” Wen Zhongshan gently caught Ying Kongtu’s leg, stopping him from moving around in case he knocked over the little medicinal stove. “Actually, there’s some in the cabinet.”

“I don’t go through your cabinets.” Ying Kongtu lowered his hand and coughed lightly. “I saw almond oil at the pharmacy and guessed their almond oil might be better than what’s sold outside, so I thought I’d buy some back and simmer a little. That way, when we need it, we won’t be scrambling.”

Wen Zhongshan looked at him. “Can we need it?”

“For my side, yes. It depends on you.”

Wen Zhongshan leaned over and kissed him.

“Awooo—” Jingwei’s voice came from far away.

Then came the sound of running.

Tiaozhu and the others all had paw pads and could run soundlessly.

But most of the time, they would run back with a great commotion, and the sound could be heard from far away.

Thanks to this excellent habit, Ying Kongtu and Wen Zhongshan separated in time, quickly straightened their clothes, and pretended as if nothing had happened.

Ying Kongtu called out to Tiaozhu and the others, then pulled Wen Zhongshan into the kitchen to cook.

Tiaozhu watched their backs and tilted its head in confusion.

After a while, Wen Zhongshan came out again, poured the finished medicinal oil into containers, and cleaned up the stove.

Tiaozhu looked at him several times. It saw nothing strange and could only continue lying on the wall, overlooking the entire household from above.

That evening, Ying Kongtu and Wen Zhongshan went back to Wen Zhongshan’s home early, hand in hand.

Wen Zhongshan closed the courtyard gate, and they kissed.

Looking into his eyes, Ying Kongtu said against his lips, “I always thought there was no need to rush this kind of thing, but you really are too much of a gentleman.”

Wen Zhongshan held his waist and said in a low voice, “I didn’t want to scare you.”

“You underestimate me too much.” Ying Kongtu rested his chin on his shoulder and laughed by his ear. “The customs of our time might not have been any less open than now.”

They kissed all the way into the bedroom.

Their clothes had already fallen off along the way.

Ying Kongtu was a little disheveled. His lips, which were usually a pale red, had become vivid and moist.

His hand was held in Wen Zhongshan’s, preventing him from moving.

The heat kept flowing downward, and the itching sensation kept flowing downward too.

He bent his long legs. His snow-white skin still reddened inch by inch, like flowers blooming in a mountain forest—first a few scattered blossoms, then flowers covering the mountains and fields, replacing the original color.

“Mm.” Ying Kongtu’s ear was caught between teeth.

Wen Zhongshan said in a low voice, “Come back.”

Ying Kongtu’s mind was quickly pulled back, and his body was trapped in Wen Zhongshan’s embrace.

Fortunately, rain began to fall outside the window again, covering every faint sound.

It kept Ying Kongtu from feeling so ashamed.

The rain fell for half the night, turning from light dripping rain into a downpour.

All movement was covered by the sound of rain.

Ying Kongtu remembered that Wen Zhongshan carried him to take a bath, and then the two of them left the master bedroom and returned to the clean, tidy guest room to sleep.

There was no one else who would come to the house, so it did not matter if the master bedroom was in a mess.

The moment Ying Kongtu’s head touched the pillow, he quickly fell asleep.

Wen Zhongshan contentedly pressed a kiss to his forehead, then kissed his lips. Soon, he also fell asleep holding him.

The next day, Ying Kongtu was woken by a “du-du-du” sound. He thought it was the alarm he and Wen Zhongshan had set.

He reached for the phone on the bedside table. His beautifully lined arm still carried a few purplish-red marks.

He glanced at Wen Zhongshan while his hand had already touched the phone.

But the phone was silent and still, with neither sound nor vibration.

Ying Kongtu immediately felt something was wrong and instinctively glanced toward the window.

“Ah!” Ying Kongtu cried out.

Wen Zhongshan immediately held him. “It’s fine. The curtains are drawn.”

They had indeed drawn the curtains, but through the gap in the curtains, a patch of mottled pattern could be seen.

Ying Kongtu was far too familiar with this pattern. “It’s an eagle.”

Wen Zhongshan had not yet reacted. “The eagle we rescued?”

Wen Zhongshan took two bathrobes over, handed one to Ying Kongtu, and put one on himself.

Ying Kongtu quickly wrapped himself in the bathrobe and said with a headache, “If I’m not mistaken, it should be the eagle I rescued.”

Wen Zhongshan understood a little. He wrapped his bathrobe tighter and went to pull open a corner of the curtain.

Outside the window, there was indeed a large golden eagle curiously looking at them. Its feathers were still a little messy.

Seeing Ying Kongtu’s figure faintly, it flapped its wings and moved excitedly on the windowsill, nearly falling off.

Wen Zhongshan was about to open the window.

“Don’t open it,” Ying Kongtu said.

Wen Zhongshan sat back down. “What’s wrong?”

Ying Kongtu collapsed into his arms and wrapped himself in the blanket. “It’s one of the mountain gods, the naughtiest one. Its name is Shuangzhong.”

He glanced at the golden eagle again through the gap in the blanket and said somewhat desperately, “Look at its messy feathers. It probably already went home and fought Tiaozhu.”

Wen Zhongshan said, “Surely not?”

“How is it impossible? They never got along before.” Ying Kongtu said, “Heavens above, it actually came out now. I didn’t even have time to mediate between it and Tiaozhu.”

Ying Kongtu had not planned to release it so soon. Unexpectedly, it had come out ahead of schedule on its own.

After saying this, Ying Kongtu very quickly realized why it had come out now.

Because his and Wen Zhongshan’s divine power had mingled last night.

As expected of Wen Zhongshan, who possessed divine power as deep as an upper god. After their powers blended, Ying Kongtu’s own divine power had also risen by quite a bit.

The golden eagle must have sensed the seal loosen, so it had taken the initiative to run out, and had even flown to their window early in the morning.

So embarrassing.

Author’s Note:

Tiaozhu is actually especially softhearted. Sometimes, it will bring relatively well-behaved stray kittens to the doors of humans it has taken a liking to.

Once, it brought a long-haired kitten to a girl.

The kitten was especially foolish. It often failed to brake at home, banging its head loudly into walls, tables, or the girl’s feet.

It also often got its claws stuck on doors, screen windows, and curtains, and could only turn its head and meow loudly for its owner to rescue it.

Although Tiaozhu also felt that kittens did not need to enter Meow Meow Academy, become Meow Meow sheriffs, or get Meow Meow government posts, being so dumb that it only knew how to eat and poop really seemed to let that human down.

It observed secretly, feeling anxious.

Unexpectedly, whenever the human saw the kitten being silly, her eyes would light up and she would pick it up to sniff.

Tiaozhu: ???

Human, what is wrong with you?
