Human, Cotton Likes You!

Shang Che couldn’t understand the recent market craze for cotton dolls.

That was until he returned home to find himself staring, ten-eyed at a row of neatly arranged cotton dolls, ranging from large to small, right on his bed.

“…” Who on earth actually likes this kind of stuff?

Just as he was contemplating how to deal with these dolls that were invading his bed, he suddenly heard a soft, squishy voice:

“Human, hello.”

Shang Che: Thanks, “human” is not doing so great.

The moment the cotton doll opened its eyes, it saw a human standing in front of it, seemingly pondering how to throw it away.

To convince the human to let it stay, it tried to communicate with its keeper.

“Human, why do you soak yourself in water every day?”

Keeper: “Because I need to take a shower before I can sleep on the bed.”

The cotton doll looked down at the bedsheet beneath its butt and said, “Then I want to wash, too.”

“Cotton dolls can’t be washed.”

“Why?” The cotton doll was thoroughly confused.

The keeper threatened it, “If the cotton doesn’t dry completely, you’ll grow moldy and stink.”

A few days later, a high-power washer-dryer combo unit appeared on the balcony.

“Human, why do you wear different clothes every day?”

“Human, can I have new clothes, too?”

And so, the cotton doll got its very own wardrobe.

“Human, I want to sunbathe.”

“Human, can you take me outside?”

“Human…”

Even after the cotton doll turned into a human himself, he couldn’t break the habit.

“Human, I want to eat this!” He tugged at his keeper’s sleeve, pointing at a cake inside the display window.

“What did I teach you to call me?” The keeper waited patiently for him to speak.

“A-Che!”

Mu Mian felt that his keeper had been acting a bit strange lately. He no longer held him to sleep, stopped helping him get dressed, and even started going to the bathroom much more frequently.

“Human… A-Che! Are you sick?”

“No.”

When his keeper refused to hold his adult body for the third time, Mu Mian had no choice but to turn back into a cotton doll and climb onto the man’s lap.

“A-Che, you feel like a dryer—so hot.”

“…” It’s just warm weather.”

“Oh…” The cotton doll watched two people pressed together in a soap opera and asked, “A-Che! What are they doing?”

“Cotton dolls aren’t allowed to watch this kind of thing.”

With his eyes covered, Mu Mian grew curious. He transformed back into his human form, grabbed Shang Che by the collar, and leaned in close.

“Is it… like this?”

“!!!”

Oh no ! A cotton doll just attacked a human!
