Chapter 4
On the spaceship.
In Room 3005, Ye Yumeng slowly opened his eyes.
A hint of delight appeared in his bright, beautiful gaze, making his eyes look even clearer and more spirited than before.
He raised his hand, and a gentle glow lit up in his palm, radiating warmth and vitality.
After a full month of tireless cultivation, he had finally reached the point where he could cast the Minor Rejuvenation Technique without forming hand seals!
His efforts of staying in his room every single day—even having the mechanical dog fetch all three meals—had not been in vain.
Ye Yumeng dispersed the spiritual energy and stretched comfortably. As he extended his leg, his gaze fell on the cast wrapped around it.
The original owner had suffered a comminuted fracture, which should have taken at least two to three months to heal.
But thanks to his cultivation technique, which strengthened the body and enhanced self-recovery, most of it had already healed within just a month.
By the time he reached the Medical Planet, he should be able to remove the cast. Though not fully recovered, it would at least be better than hobbling around on crutches.
Ye Yumeng called out to Wugang, asking it to pour him a glass of water.
Just then, his communicator rang.
Li Jiangrui.
Seeing the name on the screen, Ye Yumeng blinked, taking a moment before remembering that this was his landlord’s son.
Previously, he had reminded his landlord to go for a heart check-up, effectively saving his life. To thank him, the landlord had asked his son to escort Ye Yumeng to the spaceship terminal, saving him a lot of trouble.
Wugang had also been a gift from Li Jiangrui, and over the past month, it had helped him greatly.
Ye Yumeng accepted the call.
“Brother Li.”
“Little Ye, have you reached the Medical Planet?”
“Not yet, still about a dozen hours before landing.”
Li Jiangrui nodded, exchanged a few pleasantries, then got to the point.
“The two people who injured you before—I’ve already sent them to prison,” he said. “Don’t worry, they’ll definitely rot there.”
Ye Yumeng froze, immediately becoming alert.
“Wasn’t there insufficient evidence?”
Previously, the original owner had been ambushed and beaten severely by two debt collectors on his way home from a night shift. By the time the patrol robots arrived, the attackers had already fled.
Although he had reported it, the alley was a blind spot for surveillance, and the attackers had worn masks. In the end, the case was dropped due to lack of evidence.
These two were indirectly responsible for the original owner’s death, and Ye Yumeng had mentally noted them down, planning to settle the score someday.
He hadn’t expected that a casual mention to Li Jiangrui would lead to him tracking them down and sending them to prison!
“Your case alone lacked evidence, but they committed other crimes. With multiple charges combined, even if they don’t get the death penalty, life imprisonment is guaranteed.”
Li Jiangrui explained briefly.
“I’ll keep following up. I’ll let you know once there’s a final result.”
Ye Yumeng couldn’t help but beam.
“Brother Li, I really don’t know how to thank you!”
“That’s what I should be saying.” Li Jiangrui replied seriously. “My dad is recovering well—he’ll be discharged next week. He’s been thinking about you…”
After ending the call, Ye Yumeng fell into a daze.
This was a feeling he rarely experienced.
Because he cultivated the path of medicine, healing and saving lives was his duty. But in the cultivation world—where deception was rampant and people often fought over resources—it was a thankless task.
Who would have thought that here, just a simple reminder—barely more than a few words—would earn him such genuine kindness from the Li family?
It felt unfamiliar.
A faint smile slowly appeared on Ye Yumeng’s face, like being warmed by sunlight.
If things didn’t work out on the Medical Planet, perhaps he could return to the Xihe Federation?
Though the original owner hadn’t lived happily there, compared to the cultivation world, it was nothing. Ye Yumeng felt he could manage.
He looked at Wugang beside him and gently patted its head.
Wugang was produced by Li Jiangrui’s company—once he got to the Medical Planet, maybe he could help promote it and bring in some business.
Fifth floor, VIP suite.
Shan Lan lay listlessly on the bed, completely lacking energy. Sheng Hao stayed by his side, his face filled with helplessness and concern.
He had previously reassured the young prince that they still had a month and plenty of chances to meet that beautiful big brother who had saved him.
But now the spaceship was about to land, and they still hadn’t found any opportunity.
Whether waiting in the cafeteria or searching accessible areas of the ship, they never ran into him again—let alone staged a chance encounter.
And since they weren’t in the Lanxi Kingdom, they couldn’t access passenger records, so they had no way of knowing which room he stayed in.
Every time he thought of this, Sheng Hao felt deeply frustrated.
If only he had paused to ask back then, instead of panicking over the prince’s condition, they wouldn’t be in such a passive situation now…
However—
“Your Highness, I asked around among passengers from the Xihe Federation. The one who saved you that day should be named Ye Yumeng. He’s one of the newly recruited medical staff.”
Shan Lan immediately lifted his head, his eyes sparkling.
“Once we arrive at the Medical Planet, we can try applying to have him assigned to our ward,” Sheng Hao said with a smile.
He had already reviewed the Medical Planet’s regulations—requesting specific medical staff was allowed.
Of course, if someone with higher status made the same request, they would have no choice.
But since Ye Yumeng was newly recruited and from another federation, in theory, no one would compete with them.
“That’s great!”
Shan Lan cheered happily. In his excitement, two cat ears popped out on his head.
Unlike his pure blue hair, one ear was a mix of dark blue, orange, and white fur, while the other had a white base with patches of dark blue and orange.
Fluffy and twitching, they looked incredibly adorable.
Sheng Hao gently rubbed his ears, a soft smile appearing on his face.
Ye Yumeng had no idea he had already been targeted before even arriving at the Medical Planet.
After the ship announced the assembly time, he packed his things and, with Wugang, prepared to leave the room he had lived in for a month.
But just as he opened the door, he suddenly paused, his ears twitching slightly.
As his cultivation improved, his senses had sharpened. Even with the opposite door closed, he could clearly hear Gao Hui’s angry voice inside.
“The ship’s about to land—don’t contact me again!”
Ye Yumeng paid it no mind and continued toward the elevator. Soon, footsteps sounded behind him.
Gao Hui overtook him and entered the elevator first. Upon seeing Ye Yumeng, his expression remained cold, as if he hadn’t noticed him at all.
Seeing Ye Yumeng moving slowly on crutches, he made no effort to wait and directly pressed the close-door button.
Ye Yumeng could only watch as the doors shut, left to wait for the next one.
Over the past month, quite a few things had happened on the ship.
For example, the six caregivers recruited from the Xihe Federation had split into two groups.
According to information from a girl named Miao Kerui, only three of the six recruits might ultimately stay.
Thus, Ye Yumeng, Gan Xiaoyang, and Mo Jingyun—ordinary-background “bottom-tier” individuals unfamiliar with interstellar life—were naturally excluded.
Ye Yumeng limped into the cabin and took his seat.
As soon as he entered, Gan Xiaoyang waved him over. He brought Wugang along and sat beside him.
Gao Hui and the other two sat across the aisle.
Gao Hui noticed him but showed no remorse for earlier. Instead, he even revealed a hint of disdain at Ye Yumeng’s delayed arrival.
Yet Ye Yumeng acted as if nothing had happened, offering him a gentle smile.
With his delicate features, fair skin, and mild temperament, Ye Yumeng looked especially approachable when he smiled—obedient and harmless.
Gao Hui froze for a moment, then closed his eyes coldly, maintaining an arrogant posture.
“Yezi, don’t mind him!” Gan Xiaoyang whispered beside him. (Yezi – Ye Yumeng’s nickname.)
“Mm.” Ye Yumeng nodded, his expression innocent.
But where no one could see, his fingers moved slightly, flicking subtly in Gao Hui’s direction.
Since you like closing your eyes so much, then keep them closed.
Hmph.
Before long, Ye Yumeng saw a green planet through the window.
So this is the Medical Planet?
Finally reaching another world—aside from the unbearable pre-packaged meals, the journey had been smooth, and Ye Yumeng couldn’t help but feel relieved.
The spaceship began its descent.
After a period of turbulence, it stabilized. When the announcement sounded, Ye Yumeng unfastened his seatbelt and disembarked with the other passengers.
“Gao Hui, time to get off.”
Miao Kerui called out, but no matter how she shouted or pushed him, he kept his eyes closed, completely unresponsive.
Realizing something was wrong, she and Feng Yuheng hurried to call for staff.
The cabin quickly fell into chaos.
Meanwhile, Ye Yumeng and the other two had already reached the exit.
“Gao Hui fainted? What’s going on?” Gan Xiaoyang glanced back curiously.
Ye Yumeng shook his head innocently, sharing a confused look with Mo Jingyun.
“Big brother!”
At that moment, a childish voice rang out.
Following the sound, Ye Yumeng saw a familiar figure—the blue-haired man he had met earlier.
He stood on a transport belt, holding a five- or six-year-old boy in his arms.
The boy, also blue-haired, leaned over his shoulder, waving enthusiastically at Ye Yumeng.
His flushed cheeks were full of excitement—extremely adorable.
The blue-haired man noticed as well, turning back to look at him and giving a nod and smile.
Ye Yumeng instinctively returned the smile.
He couldn’t help but wonder how that little calico named “Shanshan” was doing. Not seeing the cat with him, he couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy.
Soon, they disappeared at the end of the transport belt.
“Yezi, do you know them?” Gan Xiaoyang asked. “They seem to be using the VIP passage.”
Ye Yumeng shook his head. “No, just met them once on the ship.”
“I see.”
Gan Xiaoyang and Mo Jingyun withdrew their gaze.
“What about Gao Hui and the others? Why aren’t they here yet?”
They arrived at the registration area and completed their procedures, but the other three were nowhere to be seen.
“Can we leave first?” Mo Jingyun asked the robot.
“Yes.”
Under the robot’s guidance, the three of them boarded a vehicle and left.
As their car drove away, they could see Gao Hui and the others in the distance, dragging their luggage and rushing toward the registration area in a sorry state.
Ye Yumeng curled his lips slightly, withdrawing his gaze.
Royal Sanatorium.
Mo Yin appeared outside the director’s office. Just as he was about to knock, the metal door opened automatically.
“Colonel Mo Yin? What a rare guest.”
Seeing him, Lei Qi looked surprised at first, then smiled. “How have you been feeling lately?”
His gaze fell on Mo Yin’s right arm.
The sleeve on that side hung empty, reminding Lei Qi of the first time he saw the young man—gravely injured.
Despite their best efforts, they had been unable to save the arm.
This once-promising elite, favored by His Majesty, could only retreat from the front lines after that, no longer able to accompany the emperor in battle.
Facing Lei Qi’s scrutiny, Mo Yin remained composed, his deep black eyes calm and gentle.
He nodded slightly. “Thank you for your concern. I’m fine now.”
Lei Qi sighed. “You still don’t want to install a prosthetic?”
Mo Yin paused. “I’ll think about it.”
Then he got straight to the point. “Director Lei, I came under the prince’s orders. May I ask about His Majesty’s current condition?”
Lei Qi’s expression immediately turned serious.
“His Majesty is still the same…”
At that moment, someone appeared in the corridor.
Lei Qi paused, about to invite Mo Yin inside, when his light computer floated over and his assistant’s voice sounded.
“Director, the medical staff from the Xihe Federation have arrived.”
Lei Qi nodded. “Alright, I’ll go take a look shortly.”
At this moment, Mo Yin spoke again, “Director Lei, may I accompany you?”
Though his tone was polite, it carried an unmistakable firmness.
