Chapter 185: A Romantic Response
Xu Huazhang calmly peeled apart the layers:
“Player 8 said if I want to save myself, I can only jump as Seer or another special role. But if I were a wolf, I could just as easily claim Seer, Witch, or Hunter. Would the good side immediately vote me out on Day One? Obviously not.
I didn’t do that, because as a good person, I don’t want to interfere with the real Seer or the other good roles. Player 8’s second Sheriff flow targeted Player 11, saying there’s only one wolf between 3 and 11.
Now, another reason why Player 8 can’t be the Seer: Player 6 had the first speaking slot. Aside from knowing his own role, he had no information to analyze. He could be a weak-speaking good guy, or he could be a wolf. Both are possible.
But Player 8, without a second thought, directly called Player 6 a confirmed wolf, not even considering the possibility that 6 was just a poor speaker. That kind of bloodthirst is way too much. Is that the attitude of a Seer?
Remember, the Seer is the leader of the good camp. His attitude shapes the others. Isn’t Player 8 afraid he’s leading the good guys straight into a ditch? Only if he’s a wolf would he be so careless about Player 6.
So, all in all, Player 8 cannot be the Seer. Done.”
Mu Lantu nodded secretly. Indeed, Player 8 condemning Player 6 outright was not a Seer’s mindset.
That settled it—Huazhang was almost certainly on the good side.
Mu Lantu finally relaxed. He should probably side with the later-position Seer.
[Player 10, your turn]
“I’m a good guy, but not the Seer. Right now, only Player 8 has claimed Seer. I don’t know if he’s really the Seer, but for now I can only take him as Seer as a logical starting point. If later I feel he’s not, I’ll reanalyze. First, about Player 6—I have zero goodwill toward him!”
Mu Lantu didn’t even lift his eyelids. Yet another person calling Player 6 a wolf. Regardless of whether 6 was a wolf or not, he was getting wrecked. Mu Lantu wondered what 6 must be feeling now.
“Player 6, this is a life-or-death game. No matter what your role is, can’t you speak properly? Do you think if you just keep repeating you’re good, we’ll believe you? That’s a joke!
If everyone only repeats ‘I’m good,’ how can the game progress? Might as well quit! Time is limited, I’ll only say this once: wolves, I don’t care, but I want the good people to speak well. Otherwise, don’t blame me for calling you a wolf. Player 6 failed to speak well, so he must bear the consequences—I’m marking him wolf.
Next, if Player 8 is Seer, then Player 9 is wolf. Player 9 got called out, barely keeping afloat, and still tried to prop up Player 6. That makes them likely wolf teammates. Otherwise, why would 9 stick his neck out for 6?
Below the sheriff line are only Players 3 and 7. Like Player 8 said, there’s at most one wolf between them. Player 8’s first Sheriff flow targeted Player 3—that fits the Seer’s view, which makes him seem more like the real Seer.
As for Player 11, I think he’s very likely good. If 9 and 11 were both wolves, then among Players 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, only two wolves remain. That chance is too slim. So I’m saying 11 is probably good.
Other players haven’t spoken yet, so nothing more to say. I just hope the good side can recognize me. Done.”
He had attacked Huazhang as wolf, but Mu Lantu still felt this guy was probably good. That sincere frustration at Player 6 didn’t feel fake. Only a true good player would worry like that.
[Player 11, your turn]
“Player 12 is a good person, 1 and 6 are next checks. I am the real Seer.”
Mu Lantu’s spirit lifted—the counter-Seer had appeared.
Player 11 continued:
“Player 8, if you’re a good guy faking a role, then withdraw now. If not, you’re a wolf.”
He waited a few seconds. Player 8 didn’t react.
“Alright, no withdrawal. Player 8 is confirmed wolf.
As for why I checked Player 12, simple—checked nearby. Player 9 is a revived good person, so I trust him. Plus, he didn’t claim any special role, which shows he’s good. I accept him.
Player 10, even though he sided wrongly, I believe he’s good. His anxiousness about Player 6 didn’t sound fake. Wolves would love for good people to all sound terrible so they’d get marked as wolves—chaos favors them. Only a true good would stress so much. So I accept 10.
With 9, 10, 11, and 12 all good, the likelihood of Player 1 being a wolf is high. It can’t be five in a row of 9, 10, 11, 12, and 1 all good. That’s why my first Sheriff flow targeted Player 1.
Second Sheriff flow goes to Player 6, because I don’t trust him. Logically, since 8 checked 6, 6 should be good. But maybe 8 intentionally opposed 6. Like Player 9 said, 6 might just be a poor-speaking good guy—or a wolf. Either way, he has to eat my check. Only then can I rest assured.
And don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten Players 3 and 7. Since 3 was in Player 8’s Sheriff flow, if 8 shows him as wolf, that makes 3 a good person.
So based on ‘one wolf under Sheriff,’ in this setup, Player 7 is very likely wolf. But I’ll say again—likely. If you speak well, I won’t force you as wolf. After all, four wolves above is not impossible. So I hope 3 and 7 both give me your votes.
One more time: 12 is good, 1 and 6 are next checks. Done.”
[Player 12, your turn]
“I’m definitely siding with Player 11. I know I’m good, and since 11 called me good correctly, who else would he be but Seer? Sure, wolves also know who’s good, so they could fake a good check—but I’m not here to overthink. On Day One, I side with 11.
Also, I like his first Sheriff flow. Player 10, I agree, is a good role mindset. Player 6’s performance? Terrible. Honestly, I doubt anyone’s mentality is that bad. I suspect he’s faking it, playing a sympathy card.
Player 9 got accused and didn’t reveal a role, but even boosted Player 6. That makes him look bad. If 6, 8, and 9 are all wolves, then Player 7 can be cleared. Four in a row is too unlikely. If 7 is wolf, then 3 is clear.
If 9 is good, then with 9, 10, 11, and 12 all good, Player 1 is highly suspicious. So yeah, I’m very satisfied with Player 11’s Sheriff flow.
As for his second flow targeting Player 6, I think that’s unnecessary. If 8 hit 6, then 6 is logically good. I’d rather see that check go to Player 5.
Anyway, I’ve only played this game a few times. Maybe I’m wrong, but ultimately, the Seer decides.
As for Player 3, already analyzed—no need to repeat. Players 2, 4, 5 haven’t spoken yet, so no comment. Done.”
Mu Lantu felt uneasy. Players 10 and 12 both marked Huazhang as wolf. Later players, influenced by them, might also.
[Player 1, your turn]
“I’m a good player. I don’t recognize Player 11 as a prophet. Logically, 8 attacked 9 and 6. 8, 9, and 6 don’t share a common side. 8 is a tough wolf, so 6 and 9 should both be good players. But Player 11 wants to check 6. Isn’t that a waste of a check? It’s better to check outside. Also, I’m a good player, but it’s very likely that 11 says I’m a wolf. How can I recognize him?
So, I can only side with Player 8. 9 and 11 are both wolves. Player 10 can be let go. 11 is the Wolf, so 12’s good person is untrustworthy; it might be fake. Player 6 has a strong gang presence. Player 6 and I are both in Player 11’s Shrieff strategy. I’m the good guy, and Player 6 is very likely 11’s Wolf teammate. The Wolf pit has already been formed: 6, 9, 11, 12. No one else can get involved. Side with Player 8. Next.”
[Player 2, your turn]
Finally, it was Mu Lantu’s turn.
“First, where I stand—same as Player 12, I’m siding with Player 11…”
Xu Huazhang chuckled. “First,” “same,” “stand”—XHZ. His baby was smart, replying with the same hidden-code method. (First = Xian; Same = He; Stand – Zhan)
“My biggest suspicion about Player 8 is his attitude towards Player 6. Player 8 only checked and killed Player 9. From his perspective, only he and Player 9’s identities are clear. As a prophet, he shouldn’t have labeled Player 6 a Wolf. If 6 is good, that only discourages him.
The second problem is Player 8’s Sheriff flow, which I can’t accept. No one else mentioned this. His first flow went below Sheriff, which is correct—checking one defines another. But he shouldn’t have hit Player 3. He should have hit Player 7…”
