Don’t Bite My Spiritual Form – CH43

District Three

Chapter 43: District Three

“Awooo!” The dog-type beastman expressed his dissatisfaction with the new rule through a howl, but the moment he sensed Aphrodite’s murderous gaze, he sensibly shut his mouth.

In only a moment, the conference room returned to its original state.

The only difference was that a large amount of animal fur was now floating through the room.

Facing the reorganized meeting, Aphrodite slowly said, “I believe sending troops as reinforcements this time is not impossible.”

“I don’t like humans,” the foreign minister said awkwardly, expressing his stance.

In the end, he only received an eye-roll from the emperor. Aphrodite’s next words struck straight at the heart.

“Ask your son properly. He’s covered in a human’s scent.”

Aphrodite’s words choked off the objection the other man had been about to say.

Immediately afterward, a full-region Iskan data report appeared on the large screen.

Looking at that long string of casualty data, Aphrodite said solemnly, “The following is the domestic casualty rate caused by beastmen entering manic periods.”

“According to investigations, most planets are mixed-habitation environments for beastmen. When beastmen with no ability to protect themselves face the manic period of a powerful beastman, they basically have no ability to resist.” Aphrodite tapped the comparatively flat part of the table in front of him and continued, “This is why we need the ability of human guides.”

“Don’t we already have the marshal’s wife?” one feline beastman asked in return.

“Oh, that is indeed a solution. Then you can ask Marshal Felix whether he is willing to let the marshal’s wife soothe your manic period.”

Aphrodite’s pupils transformed into beast form as he looked meaningfully toward Felix at the side.

Felix was just about to flare up when Jin Chi’an’s soothing mental tendrils smoothed down his bristling fur.

At the same time, the feline beastman who had made the suggestion sensibly shut his mouth and quietly waited for the emperor’s next words.

“May I ask if anyone has a better proposal? If not, then we will vote on this motion.” Aphrodite revealed a triumphant smile and sent a voting option to the optical brains of the higher-ups present.

In less than a short while, the vote for Iskan to send troops to reinforce the Empire passed by a narrow lead of four percent.

And within that fifty-four percent was the foreign minister’s vote.

After the meeting ended, in the lounge outside the conference room, Bai Ye, sitting in a wheelchair, fixed his eyes on the Iskan emperor walking out the door.

Seeing the smile on his face, Bai Ye asked curiously, “Don’t you hate dealing with the Empire the most? Why did you agree to their request for support this time?”

“Bai Ye, I will cure your mental illness.”

Aphrodite stared blankly at the sparrow in the birdcage and closed the email from the Empire on his optical brain.

At the very last line of the email, the Empire’s military department solemnly proposed an exchange with Iskan: a professional medical team capable of treating the imperial family’s mental illness in exchange for Iskan sending troops to reinforce the Empire.

The Empire’s District Three frontline war zone.

Several S-rank guides were currently dealing with the mental attack of one of their own kind.

Although the guide controlled by a second-stage zerg was not enough to pose a threat to them, the other party’s powerful regenerative ability had delayed their footsteps in reinforcing other areas.

The hummingbird guide leading them impatiently forced his way into the zerg guide’s consciousness cloud. But when his attack reached the other party’s main body, a powerful mental force severed his tendril.

“Tsk. These things are so damn troublesome.”

“We need to hurry. Casualties in the southwest are increasing, and they need our support.”

“Damn it, this zerg can’t be killed at all. It’s clearly an outside race, yet it can control a guide’s consciousness cloud.”

“We can’t keep dragging this out. You and I will pull it out together. The rest of you, watch for zerg attacks around us.”

Once the order was given, two guides extended their mental tendrils at the same time, launching an attack at that alien.

But just as the zerg released mental power to resist their attack, a mental tendril invaded from behind and embedded itself into its main body, yanking the transparent long worm out violently.

Ameili extended a second mental tendril and completely killed the zerg that had fallen to the ground. Then she ordered the guide soldiers, “Go support the rear position in the southwest. Leave this side to me.”

“Yes!”

After they left, Ameili looked with an ugly expression at the guide’s body lying on the ground. Most of these guides whose consciousness clouds had been invaded by aliens had lost the ability to control their consciousness clouds.

And the zerg army before them was still growing at an uncontrollable speed.

“General Ameili.”

The suddenly connected communication interrupted Ameili’s thoughts.

“Iskan has already agreed to send reinforcements. Please notify your troops immediately to transfer to the rear war zone.”

“What did you say?”

Ameili shouted angrily toward the other end of the communication, “You want to abandon the more than one thousand guide soldiers on the frontline who have been parasitized by aliens?”

“Ameili, don’t overstep. Please notify your army as soon as possible and withdraw from the frontline war zone.”

The man on the other end of the communication gave a disdainful cold snort. “They are merely low-class lucky ones who have nothing to do with high bloodlines. The appearance of guide genes in them is nothing more than an accident born from luck.”

As soon as the man finished speaking, he hung up the call without mercy, giving Ameili no chance to fight for anything.

Facing the guides collapsed on the ground because their consciousness clouds had been invaded and their mental power systems damaged, Ameili clenched her fists and reconnected to the troops under her command.

“All personnel, immediately withdraw from the frontline war zone.”

Ameili hesitated as she gave the order. After considering it several times, she finally made up her mind and looked toward the human guides lying on the ground, still with a thread of life left.

“Before that, transfer the wounded whose parasites have been removed. Ensure your own safety as much as possible. Do not engage the aliens too much.”

“Received!”

Countless voices acknowledging the order came through. Ameili sighed, crouched down, helped up the guide nearest to her, and released a healing-type tendril into the other party’s consciousness cloud, trying to treat the consciousness cloud pathways damaged by the alien.

“General Ameili…”

The soldier she helped up looked at her in disbelief, wanting to ask Ameili for an explanation.

“Why did you…”

But before he could ask, Ameili interrupted him.

“Don’t worry. The military department has many medical guides. Someone will definitely be able to cure you.”

Ameili supported the wounded soldier and returned to the rear position under the escort of several soldiers from her direct unit.

Inside the District Three camp, hastily built bed frames had been rushed together, and countless wounded sentinels and guides lay on sickbeds.

All around the camp, the beeping of medical equipment echoed continuously.

With Ameili’s arrival, the panicked guide doctors instantly found their backbone. In no time, the space in front of Ameili was blocked so tightly that not even water could get through.

“General Ameili, I have a sentinel here whose consciousness cloud is collapsing and whose mental power is rioting. He requires manual reconstruction.”

“General Ameili, the guide in bed 307 is showing self-harming behavior through their mental body…”

“General Ameili…”

Report after report arrived one after another, gradually throwing Ameili’s heart into chaos. She stood at the entrance of the medical area at a loss, her thoughts completely drowned by the cries of the wounded.

“Teacher Ameili.”

A voice from behind pulled Ameili back from the hellish hallucination in her mind.

Lin Chuan, dressed in a doctor’s uniform, slowly walked toward the medical area in front of her.

“Lin Chuan? Why are you…”

Ameili looked in shock at Lin Chuan and the beastman medical team behind him.

“Aren’t you…”

“Although I might be on the Empire’s wanted list, as an Imperial guide, supporting the Empire is my duty.”

Lin Chuan calmly explained, took the wounded-person information handed over by a nurse at his side, and said to the guide doctor beside him, “Take me to see the guide whose consciousness cloud has collapsed first.”

“Oh… all right. Please follow me.”

The reporting guide froze at first, then immediately reacted and led Lin Chuan to a sickbed.

“Her consciousness cloud was attacked by a zerg. When the parasitic zerg left her body, it cut off her restorative mental pathway along with it.”

As the guide doctor explained, he glanced awkwardly at Lin Chuan’s expression.

“Are you Senior Lin Chuan from Loivette Academy?”

“Mm, I am.”

Lin Chuan extended his mental tendrils and replied while examining the patient.

“I saw you on the academy’s outstanding graduate board. I know you’re very capable, but…”

“But what?”

“But according to medical records, the only medical guide today who can repair a collapsed consciousness cloud with mental tendrils alone is Senior Jin Chi’an.”

“Oh? You call Jin Chi’an a medical guide?”

Lin Chuan somewhat disdainfully took the mental power recovery agent handed over by his assistant. With a mocking expression, he injected the recovery agent into the injured guide’s brain.

“Ever since the end of the internship period, I was the one who completed all his medical assignments for him.”

As the recovery agent injected into the brain gradually emptied, Lin Chuan found the guide’s recovery window and completely reconnected the broken consciousness cloud recovery band.

In only a moment, the consciousness cloud that had been in a state of collapse began to repair itself in an orderly manner.

Watching the simple operation before him become mythologized by the guide at his side, Lin Chuan casually pulled off his gloves and said to that guide doctor, “Looks like the Empire really has no one left. A bunch of stubborn old fools chasing genes and bloodlines.”

“Lin Chuan.”

Ameili walked up to him, scrutinizing him and the beastman soldiers around him.

“You came with Iskan’s reinforcements…”

“Of course.”

Lin Chuan nodded and looked at the beastman soldiers beside him, who had raised their guard.

“According to the demands of the Empire’s higher-ups, Iskan’s reinforcements will prioritize supporting the first three districts, then allocate support teams based on the military situation of each star.”

Seeing Ameili’s heavy expression, Lin Chuan waved his hand, signaling the beastmen beside him to lower their guard. Then he turned and headed toward the next sickbed.

“I will also follow the Empire’s higher-ups’ demands and help treat the people on the list.”
