Don’t Bite My Spiritual Form – CH27

The Palace Incident (Part 1)

Chapter 27: The Palace Incident (Part 1)

Following the emperor’s gaze, Jin Chi’an looked in Bai Ye’s direction. Bai Ye had completely lost his earlier carefree manner and now wore a serious expression, a trace of killing intent flashing through his eyes.

Perhaps because he saw Bai Ye like this, the emperor seemed to be in an excellent mood. Sitting on the throne above the steps, he ignored the confusion of the guests below and laughed outright.

With great interest, he waved his hand and called Thirteen to his side.

As two light coughs came from the throne, the banquet hall instantly fell silent. Everyone looked toward the emperor, who seemed to have something to say.

“Ladies and gentlemen of District One’s highest bloodlines, long time no see.”

The emperor took a small sip from the drink in his glass and surveyed the old faces in the banquet hall, faces he had not seen in decades.

“I believe all of you should know the purpose of this banquet. It is to celebrate the fact that the mental illness produced by the empire’s integration of beastman blood can finally be completely cured.”

The emperor patted Thirteen beside him and confidently pulled out a smile.

“For a hundred years, you have all hated beastmen for polluting human bloodlines and bringing pain and disaster to humanity’s sentinel-guide genes. Now that the problem of mental illness can be treated, we no longer need to resist the infiltration of beastman blood.”

As soon as these words were spoken, the nobles below began discussing among themselves.

From their words, it was not hard to hear their doubts about the emperor’s statement.

Amid skeptical voices saying, “What kind of joke is this? How can we let beastmen taint human bloodlines?” the emperor stood, took Little Thirteen’s hand, and signaled for him to change into his beast form.

“Allow me to introduce everyone. This is my thirteenth son, a snake beastman.”

As the emperor’s words fell, Thirteen immediately transformed into a golden cobra and climbed onto the emperor’s arm, flattening his neck and taking on a threatening posture.

His pair of golden snake eyes could hardly conceal his pride. Compared to when he had been in the tower, he now looked much more like a son loved by his father.

However, when his snake tail coiled around the other party’s arm, disgust flashed through the emperor’s eyes before instantly returning to his previous expression.

“Since we have overcome the hereditary illness caused by the fusion of beastmen and humans, I believe we can cast aside the barriers between us and beastmen. From this day forward, the empire will introduce beastman bloodlines. Let us welcome the glorious moment of awakening for the empire’s high bloodlines.”

“What is he talking about?”

Qin Hua’s voice appeared in the Allied Forces’ communication device.

Most likely because of the uproar caused by the emperor’s words, no one noticed the group quietly communicating.

Qin Hua looked speechlessly toward the imperial emperor on the throne, who seemed to be entertaining himself.

“What kind of joke is this zerg making? Does he not know that what District One nobles care about most is the purity of human blood?”

“The emperor hasn’t been parasitized by a zerg. I haven’t detected any Zerg mental-power fluctuations on him.”

Jin Chi’an quietly released his mental tendrils, sensing the mental-power fluctuations around them. His expression was solemn as he looked at the imperial emperor, who bore not the slightest trace of zerg presence.

“Calling command…”

“Command copies.”

Felix replied through the communicator.

“Thirty percent Zerg mental power has been detected outside District One. Frontline teams, watch for suspicious personnel movements and wait for headquarters’ support.”

“Report!”

A report suddenly entered the command center and came through the communication.

“An unknown object has been detected invading District One’s palace. Its Zerg mental-power value exceeds measurable standards.”

As the voice inside command fell, the originally noisy banquet hall was suddenly filled with the deep, powerful voice of an old man.

Charlemagne VII, sinner who fused foreign blood into your line, it is time for you to step down from the position that does not belong to you.”

As the old man’s voice fell, a vicious brown bear appeared inside the banquet hall and pounced toward the emperor above.

For a moment, the originally spacious banquet hall was filled with birds and beasts. The nobles who had released their mental bodies all stared covetously at the throne beneath the emperor.

Unfortunately, before the brown bear’s claws could touch the emperor’s flesh, a towering mammoth suddenly appeared and trampled it underfoot.

The old man, who had been so aggressive just now, seemed to have blacked out for some reason. He could no longer control his mental body at all.

Immediately afterward, a meteorite crashed into the palace and landed in the very center of the banquet hall, drawing the gazes of all the nobles.

Ignoring the farce from earlier, the emperor’s gaze drifted toward the meteorite, which was trembling. Looking displeased, he sat on the throne, propping up his face with the hand resting against the throne, quietly watching the chaos below.

“Zerg mental power?”

Sensing the mental power coming from inside the meteorite, Jin Chi’an removed his tie clip and clenched it tightly in his palm. He spoke into the communicator.

“Calling command. A high concentration of Zerg mental power has appeared at the banquet hall.”

“Report! A suspected zerg starship has been detected outside District One’s star region.”

“Report! A large number of first-stage zerg species have appeared outside District One’s palace.”

“…”

Inside command, the succession of abnormal situations disrupted everyone’s original plan.

While everyone was overwhelmed, Felix had already gone to the armament level and stopped in front of a military aircraft.

As the cabin door slowly opened, Aphrodite’s golden hair appeared in his field of vision.

“Come on up, Felix. Daddy will take you to find your wife.”

In the pilot’s seat, the Iskan emperor skillfully controlled the empire’s aircraft equipment and greeted Felix.

When their aircraft broke away from the Allied Forces starship, countless Allied Forces fighter jets lined up behind them in formation.

A call from command connected immediately after, and Amelie’s face appeared on the holographic screen.

“Crown Prince of Iskan, is mobilizing the Allied Forces without authorization the discipline of your beastman army?”

“My dear Lady Amelie, I already said that Iskan’s agreement with the empire exists only between our royal families. Now that the imperial royal family is under zerg threat, there’s nothing inappropriate about me going to rescue the emperor, is there?”

Aphrodite put on his reading glasses and, looking completely unconcerned, admired the other party’s anger-filled expression. Then he gave orders without politeness.

“Please leave the zerg situation on the imperial royal family’s side to Iskan. As for the empire’s soldiers, kindly clean up the enemy starships stationed outside District One.”

“You…”

Before Amelie could unleash her anger, Aphrodite forcibly cut off the communication. His gaze drifted to Felix beside him, who could not help transforming into beast form, and he teased, “Felix, your fur is puffed up.”

“What is this thing?”

At this moment, the palace banquet hall had already fallen into complete chaos. Several noble ladies standing close to the meteorite retreated several steps, looking in disgust at the meteorite covered in wriggling insect eggs.

With a sizzling sound, the insect eggs burst open. Disgusting, sticky liquid inside splashed onto the noble ladies’ skirts, drawing screams from the surrounding crowd.

Amid the chaotic arguments, a transparent, many-legged long worm separated from the slime. With one glance, it took a liking to the female goat guide in front of it.

Following a startled cry, the long worm sprang onto the guide’s face. As her voice gradually weakened, the worm invaded her brain.

Soon after, the originally dignified noble lady became stiff in her movements. Before long, that zerg had taken control of her body.

Even her goat mental body also became strange, attacking nearby sentinels in a peculiar posture.

Some guides who understood consciousness-cloud control immediately reacted, releasing mental tendrils in an attempt to control her movements. Unexpectedly, their mental power seemed as if a valve had been shut off, and they could not release even the slightest offensive tendril.

“What’s going on?”

A sea slug guide, unwilling to give up, released his mental body. His sea slug was on its last breath, unable to maintain its form due to the loss of mental energy.

Seeing this, Jin Chi’an thought that the drug in the fruit juice had taken effect.

He looked at the emperor above, who was lazily watching the farce below, and could not figure out the other party’s attitude at all.

Immediately afterward came several sounds of insect eggs bursting open. Countless Kashemir second-stage parasitic forms crawled out and parasitized the guides and sentinels closest to them.

As the number of parasitized people increased, there were no more voices of rebellion in the banquet hall. The surviving sentinels and guides all surged toward the banquet hall doors.

Their mental energy, suppressed by the mental-power suppressant, left them with nowhere to counterattack. They could only be chased by the mental parasites that could not be touched by physical weapons.

When only the Allied Forces and the parasitized humans remained inside the banquet hall, a newly born zerg twisted its body and crawled toward the emperor on the throne.

“How disgusting.”

Charlemagne VII narrowed his eyes on the throne and gave the sons standing on the steps a look.

Immediately, a royal guide released offensive mental tendrils and fought with that long worm.

After a series of attacks, the newly born zerg was defeated and withered dry on the banquet hall floor.

“Go.”

Taking advantage of the moment when the people controlled by the aliens in the banquet hall still could not operate their bodies well, a hand gripped Jin Chi’an’s fist, the one holding the tie clip, and pulled him out of the banquet hall amid the chaos.

Bai Ye grabbed Jin Chi’an’s arm and dragged him into the fleeing crowd.

Just as everyone approached the garden near the palace gates, a group of first-stage Kashemir Zergs blocked their path.

Qin Hua, at the front of the crowd, released his mental wolf and carved out a path through the aliens.

As the Allied Forces group led the crowd near the gates, a mental tendril stretching out from afar scattered into branches and attacked the Allied Forces members.

Jin Chi’an, at the back, was the first to sense this mental power. He stopped and blocked the other party’s attack.

As the two mental powers clashed, a familiar aura entered his consciousness. Jin Chi’an’s movements paused briefly, then he identified the source of this energy: Oshta.

Jin Chi’an broke free from Bai Ye’s grip and narrowed his eyes, looking toward the source of the mental power.

“What’s wrong with you?”

Bai Ye turned to look at Jin Chi’an, who had stopped in place. In confusion, he was about to grab his wrist again.

Before his fingers could touch the other party’s hand, Jin Chi’an darted out, running toward the source of that mental power.

“Jin Chi’an!”

Bai Ye shouted, trying to call him back.

After calling several times and receiving no response, Bai Ye helplessly followed.

Only when several mammoth cries rang out did Bai Ye frown slightly. He hesitated inwardly, but in the end, he gave up on the direction Jin Chi’an had gone and turned to run toward the sound of the mammoth.
