The Interdimensional Reseller – CH196

Chapter 196

Chu Feng stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window on the top floor of the building, opened a bottle of red wine, and took a relaxed sip.

He secretly sighed in satisfaction. Owning an entire building feels pretty good. From now on, this place is mine.

He had thought scenes like this only happened in TV dramas, but now he was the main character.

Standing atop the skyscraper, Chu Feng felt a bit giddy.

Zhuang Zhenyang came upstairs, looked at Chu Feng, and said with a hint of emotion, “Congratulations. From today on, Rongtian Tower belongs to you.”

Chu Feng replied calmly, “It was easier than I imagined.”

Zhuang Zhenyang sighed. “I didn’t expect that Manning was your person. Zhuang Cheng said he met them online, but I had my doubts—how could an ability-user be someone you randomly meet online without even speaking the same language?”

Chu Feng gave a cold chuckle and said, “Didn’t President Zhuang already suspect this long ago?”

“How do you mean?” Zhuang Zhenyang asked.

Chu Feng swirled his wine glass and looked out the window. Leisurely, he said, “I’ve known Manning for a long time. A few months ago, he accidentally used his ability on me and told me that my parents were still alive, and I had an older sister and a younger brother.”

“I was pretty shocked at the time. I thought his ability had made a mistake. Just to be safe, I did a paternity test—and found that something really was off. After that, I used Manning’s ability to confirm my blood relatives and found out I was originally from a wealthy family. I was shocked. Out of curiosity, I asked a detective agency to look into the Zhuang family.”

Zhuang Zhenyang froze for a moment and thought, So that’s how it was? He had vaguely found out that Chu Feng had learned of his true identity—possibly even before he himself had—but had been wondering how. He had thought someone involved in the child swap back then had leaked the information. Turns out there wasn’t some convoluted conspiracy—Chu Feng had used a special ability-user.

Chu Feng twirled the wine in his glass again and said, “I was just curious and did a casual investigation. But after that, that detective agency got quite popular. Multiple people went to visit. From what I know, the Zhuang family sent several groups. Didn’t you send anyone? Zhou Ting seems to be a frequent client of that agency too!”

“The head of that detective agency should really thank me. I brought him a lot of business!”

Zhuang Zhenyang: “…”

“If you knew your identity long ago, why didn’t you come find the Zhuang family?” Zhuang Zhenyang asked.

Chu Feng smiled slightly. “Didn’t you also know who I was long ago? Yet you never came looking for me either, did you?”

Zhuang Zhenyang replied awkwardly, “I…”

Chu Feng replied indifferently, “Just like you didn’t want a son who delivers packages, I also wasn’t too interested in getting involved with the Zhuang Group. At that point, I already had an ability. Earning a few billion was just a matter of lifting a hand for me. A minor family like the Zhuangs? I didn’t think much of them.”

Zhuang Zhenyang sighed inwardly. He and his older brother had struggled openly and in secret for years over the Zhuang family’s business empire, and now Chu Feng casually called it “a minor family.”

He thought of the transfer agreement he’d just signed and felt a wave of defeat. Chu Feng was powerful, had several other ability-users by his side—indeed, to someone like him, the Zhuang family didn’t count for much.

“You’re right. You really are impressive.”

Chu Feng tilted his head slightly and said, “Actually, after Zhuang Ming exposed Zhuang Feixue’s true identity, I was curious how the Zhuang family would respond.”

“President Zhuang, you seem very busy with work. And Madam Zhuang probably has no shortage of social engagements either. You’re both so busy that I suppose neither of you had time to visit some nameless little town,” Chu Feng said with a hint of mockery.

“I was—” Zhuang Zhenyang began.

“Oh, I understand. You’re busy. I’m a businessman myself, I know how hectic it can get. What surprised me was that my sister actually took time to come see me.”

Zhuang Zhenyang sighed inwardly again, suddenly feeling a wave of guilt.

Back then, after finding Chu Feng, Zhuang Zhenyang had wanted to observe his character first. What he didn’t expect was that Chu Feng had also been testing the Zhuang family’s attitude toward him.

He had thought Chu Feng was a child who needed care, but in reality, the boy had never needed the Zhuang family’s pity.

Feixue was a top-tier celebrity, and it hadn’t been easy for her to take the time to visit that small town.

Zhuang Zhenyang had always thought Chu Feng and his eldest daughter got along well. But now he understood—Chu Feng treated Feixue differently because she was the first to come see him.

Chu Feng wasn’t cold-hearted by nature. He just remembered kindness and grudges very clearly.

He crossed his arms and said, “There’s one thing you don’t need to worry about, President Zhuang. I’m not interested in the Zhuang Group. So you don’t have to worry about me competing with Feixue for anything.”

“I was never worried about that,” Zhuang Zhenyang replied. “Feixue was innocent in the child swap incident.”

Chu Feng gave a scornful laugh. “Of course she was. The swap was done by someone from the Zhuang family’s main house. Even without Zhuang Feixue, there would’ve been someone else.”

Zhuang Feixue was innocent, but did that mean Chu Feng deserved to live in poverty for so many years?

“I understand that… but I don’t like it.”

The adopted daughter got to live as a precious gem, while the biological son—once his identity was revealed—faced suspicion?

“Xiao Feng—” Zhuang Zhenyang began.

Chu Feng raised a hand to cut him off.

“If I didn’t have powers, what would you have taken me as, President Zhuang? A son too embarrassing to show in public? The shame of the Zhuang family?” Chu Feng asked with a hint of sarcasm.

Zhuang Zhenyang frowned. “Why would you think that?”

Chu Feng waved him off. “Then what should I think? You were so busy, you just sent an assistant to brush me off?”

Zhuang Zhenyang’s face flushed red.

Chu Feng turned away. “It’s fine. I don’t like too many emotional ties anyway. Too many ties just become burdens.”

“The world is unstable right now, and I have many things to do—like becoming the most powerful in the world, or ruling the world. I can’t handle everything. In the whole Zhuang family, the only one I care about is Feixue. As for the rest, they’re on their own.”

Zhuang Zhenyang stared blankly at Chu Feng. He had always felt that his son seemed calm and detached, hard to approach—but he hadn’t expected that when Chu Feng turned cold, he could be this cold. From the very beginning, he had lost the initiative. No matter what he did afterward, it was all meaningless.

Chu Feng walked to the corner and saw Zhuang Cheng, who had been eavesdropping. Zhuang Cheng hung his head in embarrassment.

Chu Feng didn’t even acknowledge him and went straight downstairs.

Zhuang Cheng, watching Chu Feng leave, lowered his head even further in dejection.

He sighed. After overhearing the conversation between his father and second brother, Zhuang Cheng finally understood why Chu Feng was so obsessed with his sister—and why he, as the younger brother, seemed like an afterthought. If he had known earlier, he should’ve taken time off to go visit his second brother back then—then he could’ve skipped cram school too. Two birds with one stone.

If he had gone back then, maybe Second Brother wouldn’t be giving him the cold shoulder now. Hindsight is priceless!

“Xiao Cheng.”

Zhuang Cheng was just about to head downstairs when he realized he’d been caught by his father.

Looking at Zhuang Zhenyang, Zhuang Cheng felt like his father had suddenly aged a lot.

Zhuang Zhenyang let out a light sigh and said with some melancholy, “Xiao Cheng, did I do something wrong?”

Zhuang Cheng scratched his head, not quite knowing what to say. What Second Brother said was a bit harsh, but some things were really hard to say for certain.

If Second Brother didn’t have any powers, then returning to the Zhuang family would indeed be a little awkward for him.

To be honest, when Second Brother’s identity was first revealed, many people had already warned him to be careful around this brother. With this brother around, maybe his position as the heir wouldn’t be so secure anymore…

Zhuang Feixue helped Chu Feng organize the transfer documents when she saw Zhuang Cheng walk in with a complicated expression.

“Second Brother? He didn’t come back?”

Zhuang Feixue shook her head and said, “Nope. Didn’t you run into him?”

“I did.” But then Second Brother left again—maybe he went somewhere else to drink. “He’s probably just resting.”

Zhuang Feixue thought to herself: He just secured a whole building—it’s understandable to be a little excited. If it were her, she probably wouldn’t be able to sleep for days.

Zhuang Feixue looked at Zhuang Cheng and asked curiously, “What’s with you? You look totally down.”

Zhuang Cheng said a little awkwardly, “I went to the top floor just now and accidentally overheard Dad and Second Brother talking.”

Zhuang Feixue rolled her eyes. “You saw Dad going up and couldn’t hold back your curiosity, huh? Eavesdropping isn’t a good habit, you know.”

Zhuang Cheng sighed, “Honestly, I kind of regret listening… What I heard was kind of harsh. Dad’s been the boss for so many years—it must’ve been a long time since anyone talked to him like that.”

Zhuang Feixue grew curious. “What did they say?”

Zhuang Cheng looked at Zhuang Feixue and blinked. “Sis, you say it’s bad to eavesdrop, but you’re pretty curious yourself, huh?”

Zhuang Feixue glared at him, slightly embarrassed. “Enough talk, just spill it.”

Zhuang Cheng sighed and repeated what Chu Feng said: that he would only look after Zhuang Feixue and wouldn’t care whether the rest of the Zhuang family lived or died.

“He really said that?”

Zhuang Cheng nodded.

Zhuang Feixue felt a mix of flattery and speechlessness. She never realized she held such a high place in Chu Feng’s heart—and it was just because she had personally gone to see him after learning his identity.

Zhuang Feixue sighed and said, “Don’t take what your Second Brother said too personally—he talks tough but is soft-hearted. Didn’t you say he saved you when you were kidnapped?”

Zhuang Cheng nodded. “Yeah!”

Second Brother sounded heartless, but if something really happened to the Zhuang family, he probably wouldn’t just sit by. It’s just… if the whole family was in danger, Chu Feng would probably save Big Sis first. Just like during the earthquake—when he couldn’t reach her by phone, she was the first one he searched for.

“Oh, right—Second Brother also said he’s very busy and told Dad not to bother him. He wants to become the best in the world, to dominate everything.”

Zhuang Feixue: “…” She always felt Chu Feng was kind of laid-back. She didn’t expect him to have such grand ambitions. Though, to be honest, it did sound kind of like a joke.

“Rule the world, huh!”

Zhuang Cheng rested his chin on his hand. “Doesn’t seem entirely impossible.”

Zhuang Feixue nodded. “Seems like it.”

Recently, powered individuals have been appearing everywhere. They’ve seen many kinds, but to be fair, Chu Feng really is the strongest one.
