Chapter 195: The Deal
Chu Feng pushed open the door and walked into the conference room.
Inside, over twenty people were seated. Chu Feng was a bit surprised—he actually recognized several of them. His eyes landed on Li Chengjia. He had heard of this man for a long time! But he had only ever seen photos of him, never in person.
Chu Feng beckoned behind him toward Manning, who immediately leaned in.
Chu Feng asked about Li Chengjia’s love line. Manning told him the man only had one love line—thick, but broken.
Which meant, Li Chengjia was probably the only one invested in that relationship. The other party likely wasn’t interested at all.
Chu Feng blinked and thought: This Young Master Li is really a sentimental type, huh? Still pining after Zhuang Feixu after all this time? What a shame. That romance is doomed from the start.
Love has to be mutual—like between him and Illya. One-sided affection never ends well.
“Dad? Why are you here?” Zhuang Cheng asked in surprise.
Zhuang Feixue frowned. She had contacted all the building shareholders one by one, deliberately skipping her father—but he still came. “Doesn’t the Zhuang Group have a stake in this building?” Zhuang Zhenyang replied. Zhuang Feixue pursed her lips. They did, but she had planned to handle it privately.
Father Zhuang frowned, his gaze sweeping over Zhuang Feixue and Zhuang Cheng with a hint of reproach. Chu Feng’s plan to buy the building was a major deal, and neither of his children had thought to inform him. He only learned about it through other business contacts. It was embarrassing.
“Mr. Chu, thank you for taking care of my son,” said Lin Tianqing. The video of Chu Feng fighting off wolves had gone viral. With Manning by his side, it wasn’t hard for Lin Tianqing to guess who had destroyed her car that time.
“You’re too polite, Mrs. Lin. Is your son doing alright?” Chu Feng asked. Being kidnapped by his half-brother, with even his biological father possibly involved—it must’ve been traumatic.
“He’s alright. He was slightly injured in the earthquake. He’s been wanting to thank you in person,” Lin Tianqing said.
Chu Feng shrugged. “It was nothing. No need for such formality.”
Lin Tianqing smiled. “It might’ve been nothing to you, Mr. Chu, but to my son, it was a matter of life and death.”
Su Yuexin, seeing Lin Tianqing chatting with Chu Feng, couldn’t sit still and chimed in, “Chu Feng, I’m your aunt. Thank you for what you did for Yuanyuan.”
Chu Feng waved it off. “It was a paid job—no need for thanks.”
Su Yuexin looked a little embarrassed. “Even so, Yuanyuan made it back safely, and we’re grateful. I know you only helped because of family ties.”
Chu Feng shrugged. “As long as it’s profitable, I’m interested—blood ties or not.”
Su Yuexin, awkwardly: “Is that so…?”
“Chu Feng…” Zhuang Zhenyang couldn’t take it anymore and cut in.
Chu Feng gave him a chilly look and said flatly, “Chairman Zhuang, do you have something to teach me?”
Under Chu Feng’s icy stare, Zhuang Zhenyang’s confidence crumbled instantly.
Zhuang Cheng took a deep breath and thought: Dad must’ve been fooled by Second Brother’s old nice-guy act. If the Second Brother really loses his temper, he can be cut as hell. If Dad tries to treat him the same way he treats me, trying to pull rank as a father, things will get ugly.
Zhuang Cheng nervously watched his father. When the old man fell silent, he finally relaxed.
Chu Feng leaned back in the swivel chair, spun it half a turn, and smiled. “Let’s get down to business.”
Illya scanned the room and whispered something to Chu Feng in an otherworldly language. Everyone in the room had taken the elixirs. Chu Feng was surprised—if they had all taken the elixirs, then negotiations would be easier.
Zhuang Cheng, hearing the back-and-forth between Chu Feng and Illya, felt a growing itch of curiosity.
“Everyone here is busy, so I’ll keep it short,” Chu Feng said. “I’ve taken a liking to this building and want to buy it. You can choose payment in elixirs, gold, or potions. Of course, cash is also an option.”
Chu Feng walked to the side and opened a suitcase—filled with gold bars.
Zhuang Cheng blinked in surprise. “That wasn’t there yesterday!”
Chu Feng nodded. “I had it transferred over last-minute.”
Zhuang Cheng blinked again, thinking to himself: With that much gold, did the Second Brother rob a bank?
Zhuang Feixue stared at the suitcase full of gold and took a deep breath. She had clearly underestimated Chu Feng’s financial power. After the earthquake, many believed the currency market would collapse and that money would soon become worthless. People had started hoarding gold, and supplies had been wiped out in many places.
The participants looked at each other, eyes filled with shock.
A female board member asked urgently, “How are the elixirs being sold?”
Chu Feng glanced at her and said, “Health Elixirs, Beauty Elixirs, Slimming Elixirs, and Bone-Strengthening Elixirs are all priced at five million each.”
“Bone-Strengthening Elixir, is that a new type of elixir?” one of the key members asked.
Chu Feng nodded. “Yes, just newly developed. It can increase bone strength and help enhance physical fitness.”
“Is the Bone-Strengthening Elixir made by the same alchemist as the others?” another board member asked.
Chu Feng nodded again. “Yes.”
“As for the Body-Enhancement Serum, it’s twenty million per vial.”
Several board members exchanged looks. “Is this the same serum supplied to the military?”
Chu Feng nodded. “Yes. One vial can increase strength by about 10%. The effect of the second vial is roughly halved, and the third has almost no effect.”
The board members started discussing upon hearing Chu Feng’s explanation.
The Beauty Elixirs and other elixirs had been out of stock for quite some time. Even though Chu Feng had raised the price, it was still cheaper than the black market, which made everyone quite tempted.
As the board members debated, the focus of everyone present was on the elixirs and the serum.
Chu Feng thought to himself: As expected, they’re all rich! No one’s even asking about the price. That’s good—since I don’t have much money either.
“Everyone, please decide quickly. The supply of elixirs and serums is limited. Once others have made their choices, you’ll have to settle for second best. I want to exchange for an entire building—if anyone doesn’t want to trade, speak up now. I specifically want this one, but I can accept another if necessary.”
Hearing this, several board members said there was no problem with trading at market price and began calculating their options.
A few were still undecided and glanced curiously at Zhuang Zhenyang, seemingly hoping he would make a decision or help bargain.
Chu Feng, sitting calmly at the head of the table, chatted leisurely with Illya, as if he hadn’t seen Zhuang Zhenyang at all.
Everyone present vaguely knew that Chu Feng hadn’t returned to the Zhuang family—each time he came to the capital, he acted as though he’d “passed by his family without entering.” Judging from his attitude now, they secretly speculated that the relationship between father and son was strained. It seemed Zhuang Zhenyang couldn’t say much in front of Chu Feng.
Zhuang Feixue also sensed the tense atmosphere between Chu Feng and her father, but not knowing how to ease it, she decided to say nothing at all.
The first to make a firm decision was a plump female board member. She immediately asked for 30 Beauty Elixirs and 30 Slimming Elixirs, only requesting four vials of the serum.
Chu Feng was a bit speechless and thought: The world’s so chaotic right now—boosting physical ability helps with self-defense, doesn’t it? Yet this board member only cares about slimming down and looking good. Women really are obsessed with appearance.
With the first decision made, the others followed suit. Though the Bone-Strengthening Elixir hadn’t been tested yet, several key members expressed high confidence in it.
Li Chengjia chose quite a few strength-enhancing serums and Bone-Strengthening Elixirs, as well as some Beauty and Slimming Elixirs.
One board member couldn’t decide for a long while, hesitating in front of the different options, clearly struggling with indecision.
Chu Feng noticed the Health Elixir was quite popular—several male board members had picked some.
Soon, ownership of the entire building had transferred to Chu Feng.
Looking at the thick stack of property transfer papers, Chu Feng felt a hint of satisfaction. “President Zhuang, Yangfan Group owns a share on one floor here. What would you like in exchange?”
Zhuang Zhenyang found the title “President Zhuang” a bit grating.
“No need. You can have it.”
“I don’t accept something for nothing. That’s an entire floor—I can’t just take it.”
Chu Feng replied flatly.
Zhuang Zhenyang pressed his lips together. If someone else had said that, fine. But they were father and son. Chu Feng’s words clearly drew a line between them. Zhuang Zhenyang felt like he had just drunk a whole bottle of bitter medicine.
Everyone present instinctively looked at Zhuang Zhenyang, whose face began to burn with embarrassment.
“It’s just one floor,” he said quietly.
If the baby switch incident hadn’t happened, Chu Feng would have been the rightful heir of Yangfan Group.
Chu Feng glanced at Zhuang Cheng. “Even with real brothers, accounts should be clear. I don’t like owing favors. If President Zhuang doesn’t want to choose, Xiao Cheng, you choose instead.”
Zhuang Cheng froze, suddenly realizing he’d been dragged into this. “Me? Me?!”
Chu Feng nodded. “One floor, worth about three hundred million. Go pick one. If you miss this chance, there won’t be another.”
A few others in the room looked even more puzzled after hearing this.
“Go on.”
After a moment of hesitation, Zhuang Cheng stood up. “Then I’ll choose, okay?”
He sighed inwardly. Why are second brother and father doing business and dragging me into it too?
Chu Feng nodded. “Go, don’t dawdle.”
Zhuang Cheng: “…”
“Sis, help me complete the ownership transfer procedures as soon as possible,” Chu Feng said, tossing the documents to Zhuang Feixue.
Zhuang Feixue nodded. “Don’t worry.”
Squatting in front of the boxes, Zhuang Cheng thought: What should I pick? Health Elixirs? I think Dad likes those.
