The Interdimensional Reseller – CH189

Chapter 189

Chu Feng looked at the tightly shut door, hearing faint rustling behind it.

Someone inside was moving furniture that had been used to block the door.

Zhuang Feixue stumbled out, her expression complicated as she looked at Chu Feng. “Chu Feng, you…”

She had thought she was going to die. She never expected Chu Feng to appear.

She had been driven near madness by the wolves’ howling. At first, she thought she was hallucinating from the stress.

Then she saw Chu Feng slice that massive wolf clean in two. If she hadn’t seen it herself, she wouldn’t have believed it.

“What are you doing here? Were you just coincidentally in the capital?” she asked in confusion.

Chu Feng shook his head. “No, I have my ways.”

Zhuang Feixue: …Is it his ability? Every time Chu Feng showed up in the capital, it was like he appeared out of nowhere.

“That wolf… it’s really dead, right?” she asked.

Chu Feng nodded. “Yes.” It had been cut in two—definitely dead.

Zhuang Feixue murmured, “How can there be such huge wolves? What do they eat to grow like that?!”

Chu Feng gave a faint smile. “Seems like the world’s changing.”

There had been earthquakes in nineteen different regions recently, revealing many hidden mountains and rivers. A flood of strange beasts and birds had emerged from these new terrains.

That white snake earlier, and now this blue wolf—these weren’t isolated cases.

One of the crew’s cameramen, overhearing Chu Feng, excitedly filmed the massive wolf corpse from every angle.

“This cut… it’s so clean.” Slicing through such thick vertebrae that smoothly? Incredible.

A chubby middle-aged man beside Zhuang Feixue squeezed forward. Director Wang grabbed Chu Feng’s hand excitedly, his face flushed.

“Hello, hello! You must be Chu Feng, right? I just saw you kill all those wolves—amazing! You’re that wind-type ability-user who sliced a car in two, right? I’ve heard so much about you!”

“A lot of people in our crew really like you! Everyone says you’re handsome, have a heroic aura, and are a rare talent. You and Illya make the perfect couple.”

Chu Feng smiled at Director Wang’s flattery and replied, “Really?
Is that what everyone’s saying?”

Director Wang nodded repeatedly. “Yes, yes!”

“Looks like your crew has good taste then.”

“Haha, thank you, thank you. It’s because you’re just that outstanding. Would you be willing to make a cameo in our drama?”

A few supporting actors were curiously staring at Chu Feng.

They had all been hiding inside just now and clearly saw Chu Feng chop with his hand and take off several wolves’ heads in a single move.

Actually, many in the crew had indeed talked about Chu Feng before, but not in the flattering way Director Wang claimed. Most of them believed Chu Feng just got incredibly lucky—managing to land someone as attractive as Illya.

A few of the supporting actors had even spoken ill of Chu Feng previously, and now that he was standing right there, they felt guilty and uneasy.

Zhuang Feixue had been scared out of her wits, but once the fear passed, she was overwhelmed by a strong sense of safety. She finally understood who the “hero” really was.

Seeing how everyone was reacting, Zhuang Feixue also felt proud by association.
Though Chu Feng was a bit cold toward the director, the latter remained unaffected and kept trying to cozy up to him.

Chu Feng smiled and said, “Sorry, Director Wang. I really have no interest in joining the entertainment industry.”

Seeing there was no hope with Chu Feng, the director turned to Illya.

“You must be Mr. Illya. I’ve seen Snow Country, and your acting was amazing. It’s been a long time since the entertainment world has seen someone as talented as you. Would you consider a guest role in my drama?” the director said enthusiastically.

Illya shook his head. “No.”

After indulging his acting interest in Snow Country, Chu Feng had little desire left for performing.

Seeing both Chu Feng and Illya reject him, the director was clearly disappointed.

He then turned his attention to Manning, who was standing behind the two.
“Young man, you look promising! Want to make a cameo in my show?” Director Wang asked warmly.

Startled by the director’s enthusiasm, Manning quickly took two steps back.

Manning’s appearance was rather average—someone the director normally wouldn’t notice. But since he was with Chu Feng and Illya, and given the saying “birds of a feather flock together,” anyone hanging out with high-level ability-users surely couldn’t be just an ordinary person.

“Young man, don’t be in a rush to say no! We can negotiate the compensation! Who knows, you might get famous and attract tons of female fans. There are plenty of average—some even unattractive—actors who became superstars and married rich and beautiful women after getting famous!” Director Wang urged.

Manning looked overwhelmed and backed up again.
Chu Feng, a bit speechless, pulled the director’s hand off Manning and said, “I thought you’d be in a hurry to escape right now.”

If he remembered correctly, this director had been trembling in fear earlier—but now he seemed full of energy.

The director laughed awkwardly. “Right, how did things change so fast overnight? Chu Feng, you really are incredible. I’ve met quite a few ability-users before, but none of them compare to you.”

Chu Feng smiled. “You flatter me, Director.”

“Chu Feng, are you sure you won’t consider doing a quick cameo? You don’t even have to do much—just show off your wind-blade ability,” the director pleaded, still unwilling to give up.

Zhuang Feixue rolled her eyes at the director. He had been scared to the point of nearly foaming at the mouth earlier—now he was acting like nothing had happened.
She glanced at Manning, then looked questioningly at Chu Feng. “Why is Manning here too?”

“He’s with me,” Chu Feng replied.

Zhuang Feixue’s eyes widened in shock. “Ah?!”

“Is that so surprising?” Chu Feng asked.

Zhuang Feixue laughed nervously. “No, not surprising. I tried calling you, but couldn’t get through, so I asked him to help locate you.”

“Ah?!” Zhuang Feixue exclaimed again, surprised. “You came specifically to find me?”

Chu Feng nodded. “Of course.”

Zhuang Feixue looked at Chu Feng and asked, “Do you know how my father and the others are doing?”

Chu Feng tilted his head slightly. “I installed a tracker in your necklace. I followed it to your company earlier.”

Zhuang Feixue blinked. “You installed a tracker on my necklace? When?”

“Things haven’t been very peaceful lately, so I added it…”

“You were looking for me first?” Zhuang Feixue asked.

Chu Feng smiled. “Of course. You’re the most important one, big sister from the Zhuang family. The others… if they’re dead, they’re dead. No big deal.”

Zhuang Feixue: “…”

Some crew members had been eavesdropping on the conversation and couldn’t help but exchange awkward glances upon hearing this.

Chu Feng laughed. “I’m joking. I don’t know their exact situation, but I can confirm they’re still alive.”

If someone had died, the kinship lines Manning could see would have dimmed. That hadn’t happened yet.

“Did Xiao Cheng already know about your abilities?” Zhuang Feixue asked.

Chu Feng nodded. “More or less.”

Zhuang Feixue had long suspected Chu Feng was hiding something—but she hadn’t expected this.

She asked curiously, “When did Xiao Cheng find out?”

Chu Feng shrugged. “Wasn’t he kidnapped before?”

Zhuang Feixue took a deep breath. “You saved him?”

Chu Feng nodded. “Just a convenient detour. I had free time then, so I dropped by.”

“You and Xiao Cheng seem pretty close.”

“It was a transaction. He promised to pay, so I rescued him,” Chu Feng said.

Zhuang Feixue: …So that’s why Xiao Cheng is always broke and had to borrow money from her?

Chu Feng tilted his head and smiled. “You’re different from him, sister. I saved you—you don’t need to pay me.”

Zhuang Feixue gave an awkward laugh and nodded. “Oh,” she replied softly.

She suddenly recalled what Zhuang Feixu had said earlier about wanting to contact the “hero.” At the time, Xiao Cheng was unwilling to tell Feixu and even said that the hero didn’t like her. She had found it strange—how could the hero dislike Feixu when they didn’t even know each other? But if the hero was actually Chu Feng, then it all made sense.

Did Chu Feng originally dislike Feixu? If he did, it wouldn’t be surprising. Even though the baby-switching incident had little to do with Zhuang Feixu, Zhuang Feixue had still, passively, lived in luxury for over twenty years in Chu Feng’s place.

Zhuang Feixue pulled Chu Feng aside and asked, puzzled, “How is your power so strong? Weren’t the instruments unable to detect anything before?”

Chu Feng smiled and replied, “What good are those instruments anyway?”
Zhuang Feixue inhaled sharply. Those power detectors were supposed to be the pride of the Research Institute, yet Chu Feng sounded completely dismissive. Xiao Cheng must have known about Chu Feng’s powers long ago—that would explain why he didn’t react to the test results and why his perspective seemed so strange. He was surprised at the test results because he already knew Chu Feng had powers.

The sound of insects and birds filled the air as the group walked along the road, faces full of shock.

They had run into a few wild beasts on the way, but Chu Feng made quick work of them with his spatial blade.

Watching Chu Feng decapitate beasts like he was slicing vegetables left the actors and crew members in awe.

“Are we still in the capital?” the director couldn’t help asking.

Chu Feng nodded. “Yes, we’re still here. But now there are a few more mountains.”

Zhuang Feixue frowned. “That’s really strange.”

One of the male actors said, “Maybe it’s like one of those 3D pop-up cards that’s been opened up.”
Chu Feng turned to look at him, thinking: Smart guy. That’s actually a reasonable explanation.

They walked a bit further and soon heard the sound of sirens.

Chu Feng narrowed his eyes. “Looks like the military is conducting search and rescue. Director, you and your crew should go with them.”

Judging by their gear, it seemed to be an armed unit, which should be capable of keeping people safe.

The director wanted to follow Chu Feng’s group but had to accept that Chu Feng had no obligation to help them. He could only watch them leave, reluctant and unwilling.
