Chapter 166: A Group Photo?
A burst of sirens sounded, and traffic police quickly arrived to set up a cordon and maintain order. Lin Yunfei was also taken away in a police car.
Chu Feng narrowed his eyes and said, “It’s settled. Illya and I will leave now.”
As soon as Chu Feng finished speaking, he disappeared with Illya.
Zhuang Cheng: “……” Zhuang Cheng bit his lip and looked to the side in disappointment. They just left like that? They could’ve at least given them a ride home—this isn’t a good time to catch a taxi!
Manning looked at the car that had been sliced open and said, “Boss is amazing! The cut on the car is so clean.”
Zhuang Cheng: “……” Manning must be a ability-user too. Looks like a big fan of Second Brother.
Manning thought to himself: there are quite a few ability-users in their world too, but even so, the number of people who can deal this much damage like Chu Feng is very few.
A tow truck drove up, and the truck that had been sliced in half was carefully lifted onto it.
On the tow truck stood several heavily armed officers.
Zhuang Cheng watched the truck being escorted and thought: The truck is already wrecked, yet they’re still being so cautious. They must be bringing it back for research.
Zhuang Cheng glanced at Manning and said, “Master, let’s go.”
Manning nodded. “Alright.”
…
Zhuang Cheng brought Manning home, and his mother grabbed his hand emotionally.
“You’re finally back! Why didn’t you answer your phone?”
Zhuang Cheng shrugged. “Phone ran out of battery.” His mother nodded and said, “Your Aunt Lin said she misunderstood you. That ability-user was right about the location. She feels very sorry.”
Zhuang Cheng asked doubtfully, “How did she know?”
“Didn’t that van get sliced in two? Your Aunt Lin had someone at the police station trace the license plate and pull surveillance. They found out the van came from the area the ability-user pointed out,” his mother explained.
The time the van left matched the time when Wu Feng had just returned home.
Zhuang Cheng nodded and thought to himself: Since that side’s investigation cleared things up, there’s no need for him to explain anymore.
“What exactly did that ability-user say? Did you get a clear answer?” his mother asked.
Zhuang Cheng crossed his arms. “Uncle Wu has two other sons besides Lin Yunfei. And one of them was with Yunfei at the time.”
Su Manqing frowned. “They could even see that?”
Zhuang Cheng nodded. “Yeah, they could.”
Su Manqing couldn’t help but say, “That’s an amazing ability! But also kind of intimidating!”
Zhuang Cheng thought to himself: No kidding. Many big shots act one way in public and another in private. If someone like Manning can instantly see how many mistresses they have or how many people they’ve slept with, it would make those people incredibly uneasy.
“So Wu Feng really does have an illegitimate child?” Su Manqing muttered.
Zhuang Cheng looked at her and asked, “Has Aunt Lin figured something out?”
Su Manqing nodded. “Even though your Aunt Lin loves Wu Feng deeply, she’s not stupid.”
Zhuang Cheng frowned. “A tiger doesn’t eat its cubs—what does Uncle Wu even want?”
Su Manqing sighed. “What else? A surname.”
Wu Feng might seem refined, gentle, and polite on the outside, but deep down, he has some traditional, patriarchal views. Lin Yunfei took his mother’s surname, Lin, and Wu Feng probably couldn’t accept that.
Zhuang Cheng scowled. “Just for that? The Qing Dynasty has been gone for ages—why are people still hung up on this?”
Su Manqing shook her head. “Some people still care.”
Wu Feng’s parents came from a small village and always hoped their son would bring glory to the family. But then Wu Feng married into a wealthier family. Outsiders might say he married a ‘princess’ and rose quickly, but to his parents, he was outstanding and had wronged himself by marrying in.
Even though Lin Yunfei is Wu Feng’s biological son, he took his mother’s surname. To Wu Feng’s parents, that meant he wasn’t really their grandson. In fact, having the grandson take the daughter-in-law’s surname was a huge disgrace to them.
“Was that ability-user the one who sliced open the van?” Su Manqing asked.
Zhuang Cheng shook his head. “No, it was someone else. The ability-user could only determine direction. Someone else did the cutting.”
Su Manqing nodded. “I figured. People say a ability-user can only have one ability.”
If someone had two types of abilities, that would be terrifying.
Zhuang Cheng propped up his chin. “That’s probably true.” Most of the ability-users found so far only have one power.
“Then why did that person suddenly take action?” Su Manqing asked curiously.
Zhuang Cheng replied, “Master persuaded them to step in first, out of concern that Wu Feng might do something. So they struck preemptively.” Probably also worried about losing the one billion yuan.
“Birds of a feather really do flock together. Psychics know other ability-users.”
Zhuang Cheng thought to himself: That might be true. Second Brother and Illya are both ability-users, so they’re a pair. I’m just a normal guy, so Second Brother always ditches me without hesitation.
“Your Aunt Lin wanted to thank you, but she might not have time soon.”
Zhuang Cheng nodded. “I understand.”
The Lin Corporation was left by Aunt Lin’s parents, but Wu Feng had been managing it in recent years. If they’re getting a divorce, it’ll probably take some time to sort everything out.
“Oh right, you were at the scene yesterday too? I heard the driver picked you up near the crash site,” Zhuang’s mother said curiously.
Zhuang Cheng nodded. “Yeah.”
She asked, “How did you get there?”
Zhuang Cheng smiled and said, “I took a car, of course. How else would I get there?”
Zhuang’s mother frowned and said, “That’s impossible. How could the car ride be that fast?”
Zhuang Cheng gave an awkward smile and said, “My driver drives a bit fast…”
Zhuang’s mother gave him a look that said I don’t even know where to begin.
Zhuang Cheng took a deep breath and thought to himself: Okay, that lie was pretty clumsy.

At the National Bureau of Paranormal Abilities
The car that had been sliced was sent to the National Bureau of Paranormal Abilities, where several researchers examined it.
Shen Yutong looked at the researchers and asked, “Have you found anything?”
“One of the ability-users secretly attacked—first slashing the tires to stop the car, then cutting the entire car in half. This person has extremely precise control over their power. To hit the tires accurately while the car is speeding takes extraordinary control, and cutting the car in half requires even greater ability.”
“This ability-user’s threat level is at least A-rank, possibly even S-rank.”
Ability users are ranked by threat level: F, E, D, C, B, A, and S. F-rank is about as dangerous as an average person—many abilities are weak and barely more useful than normal human capabilities.
Typical ability-users—those with strength or speed awakenings—are usually D or E rank.
B-rank is already highly dangerous. A B-rank user overseas once blew up an oil field, killing hundreds.
Shen Yutong frowned. “Let’s temporarily classify this one as A-rank.”
S-rank ability-users are considered national treasures, strategic-level assets, and the criteria for that classification are extremely strict.
“This ability-user seems very low-profile. They didn’t show themselves at all.”
Shen Yuxing nodded. “We noticed.”
Shen Yutong closed her eyes. This felt very familiar—doing good without leaving a name. Once the job’s done, disappearing without a trace.
“There’ve been a lot of powerful new ability-users appearing lately! That earth-element user before was also incredible—he was classified as A-rank.”
Shen Yutong glanced at the person beside her. “Any updates on that earth-element user?”
One of the researchers shook his head. “No. We monitored the surrounding roads, but we haven’t seen any trace of those ability-users. The area’s remote, and most roads there don’t have much surveillance.”
“Wasn’t Lin Yunfei in that car?”
“Yes, the Lin family reported him missing. This ability-user might have been hired by Madam Lin—we could ask her.”
Shen Yutong frowned and thought: Madam Lin might know something, but probably not much…

Meanwhile, online
The video of the car being sliced in half went viral. Once it was released, public admiration for ability-users surged even more.
Chu Feng returned to the villa and saw Lin Zhihao watching the video—it was the clip of the car being cut in two.
Chu Feng glanced at the screen and thought: Wow, the video’s already online? That was fast.
Lin Zhihao, arms folded, said, “Brother Feng, you’re back.”
Chu Feng nodded. “Yeah.”
“Look at this—the car was split in half. It’s not special effects—it actually happened!”
Chu Feng: “…”
“They say it was a wind-type ability-user. A lot of people saw it happen. Wind-types are rare, and apparently, this is the only one discovered so far.”
Chu Feng: “…”
Are they mistaking me for a wind-type ability-user? His spatial attacks did look a bit like wind slashes.
“What a pity I wasn’t on that road. The drivers there were really lucky.”
Lucky? Zhuang Cheng later complained to him that the accident caused a major traffic jam. He had to wait over half an hour for a cab before calling his family driver out of frustration.
“Can you believe an ability-user can be this powerful? If they can slice a car in half, cutting off someone’s head must be easy.” Lin Zhihao rubbed his neck.
Chu Feng tilted his head and thought: Cutting off heads is easy. He’d been doing it like slicing vegetables for a long time now, and his power had only grown since then—killing was even easier now.
Lin Zhihao held his face in his hands. “People keep running into ability-users everywhere, but I never get that lucky!”
Chu Feng: “…” That’s ridiculous, okay? The problem isn’t a lack of ability-users around you—it’s that you don’t recognize them when you see them.
There are more ability-users in this house than in most places.
This idiot is practically surrounded by them and still thinks he needs to “run into” one.
“Ability users are still just people. Nothing that special.”
Lin Zhihao shook his head. “You can’t say that. Once you awaken an ability, you’re not a regular person anymore. These days, knowing an ability-user gives you real social clout. If someone in your family awakens, even your job prospects improve.”
Chu Feng: …That’s a thing now?
Lin Zhihao nodded. “I had this high school classmate whose relative awakened a strength ability, and boom—he suddenly had several girlfriends.”
“Why though?”
Lin Zhihao chuckled. “Good genes! Who knows, their kid might be born with powers.”
Chu Feng: …People are really losing it these days.
“If you did run into an ability-user, what would you do?”
Lin Zhihao thought for a moment. “I’d probably ask for a selfie.”
Chu Feng: “…” A selfie, huh? Not the worst idea. “You want to take one with me?”
Lin Zhihao quickly shook his head. “Nah, two guys in a selfie feels weird. People might think I’m coming out.”
Chu Feng: “…” This idiot. Wasting such a golden opportunity. He doesn’t just hand out selfies to anyone, you know.
“How about a photo with Illya?”
Lin Zhihao shook his head even faster. “Definitely not. Illya’s way too good-looking. If I stand next to him, I’ll look like an ugly toad.”
Chu Feng: “…” Lin Zhihao is beyond saving!
