The Interdimensional Reseller – CH165

Cut

Chapter 165: Cut

Zhuang Cheng brought Manning to the Lin family. Manning took one look at Madam Lin and easily determined that Young Master Lin was still alive. He also pointed out the approximate direction—about 52 kilometers west-northwest.

Zhuang Cheng checked the map and said, “That would be the Xinhu Bay residential area.”

Madam Lin asked, a little choked up, “Are you sure he’s there?”

Zhuang Cheng nodded and said, “Probably.”

“Is that all we need to do?” Manning leaned in and asked.

Zhuang Cheng nodded again. “I guess so.”

Just pointing a direction and earning a hundred million—this money seems too easy!

“What’s going on here, Tianqing?” A man in a suit walked in.

Mrs. Lin stood up, visibly worried. “Yunfei is missing. I had someone do a divination to find his whereabouts.”

Wu Feng’s face darkened. “Tianqing, I’m anxious too that Yunfei is missing, but you can’t just blindly trust anyone when you’re ability-user! It’s one thing to see a fortune-teller, but a witch? Look at him—neither Eastern nor Western, how is he even a legitimate fortune-teller?”

Zhuang Cheng frowned. He felt Wu Feng’s words were a bit disrespectful toward the master. Still, to be fair, Manning didn’t really look like one either.

Yan Ning blinked at Wu Feng, then excitedly rattled off a bunch of words to Zhuang Cheng, who looked at Manning’s animated speech but didn’t understand a word.

He thought: Did Manning understand that Wu Feng was insulting him? But it didn’t sound quite like he was cursing… “What did he say?” Wu Feng asked.

Zhuang Cheng shook his head awkwardly. “I don’t understand either.”

Wu Feng scowled. “What country is he even from?”

Zhuang Cheng gave an awkward smile. “No idea.”

“Don’t tell me he snuck in from some backwater country?”

Zhuang Cheng: “…He did sneak in, actually. Seems like he’s undocumented.”

Manning, seeing Zhuang Cheng not reacting, clearly didn’t understand the conversation. He sighed, looking a bit dejected.

Wu Feng looked at Zhuang Cheng and said, “Young Master Zhuang, even if you are from the Zhuang family, you can’t be messing around like this. Things are chaotic right now.”

Mrs. Lin glanced apologetically at Zhuang Cheng. “Sorry, he doesn’t really believe in this stuff.”

Zhuang Cheng nodded. “I understand. We’ll get going. Manning has already pointed the direction. Now it’s up to Mrs. Lin to find him.”

In the business world, many people don’t believe in fortune-telling. That’s fine. But with ability-users emerging, to still reject it so hard is a bit unreasonable.

Zhuang Cheng felt Manning might’ve discovered something important, but since he couldn’t understand him, he needed a translator.

Zhuang Cheng pulled Manning away and made a video call to Chu Feng.

Manning babbled into the phone in his foreign language.

Chu Feng listened for a long time without speaking.

Zhuang Cheng, seeing the serious expression on Chu Feng’s face, asked curiously, “So? Second Brother, what did he say?”

Chu Feng was silent for a moment, then let out a long sigh. “I knew it. A hundred million? There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.”

Hearing that, Zhuang Cheng felt like he was being dangled off a cliff—his heart scratching like a mouse gnawing inside. “Second Brother, what exactly did Manning say?”

“Manning said Wu Feng has five wives and three sons. Two of the sons are together now. But Wu Feng also has an illegitimate son who’s with Lin Yunfei. It’s a full-blown rich family drama.”

Zhuang Cheng’s eyes widened. “That can’t be. Mrs. Lin is the only daughter of the Lin family. Her parents had her in their forties—she’s been treasured all her life.”

Wu Feng came from an average background. His marriage to Mrs. Lin was the classic story of a poor man marrying a rich woman and rising overnight.

Back then, Wu Feng was highly valued in the Lin Corporation, and Mrs. Lin fell in love with him at first sight. Naturally, they became a couple.

After marriage, it was said they had a good relationship—a model couple in the business world.

Zhuang Cheng rolled his eyes, thinking: Model couple, my ass. Never believe that. All those celebrity couples who flaunt love on TV end up tearing each other apart later.

“Five wives?” Zhuang Cheng muttered.

Chu Feng nodded. “He’s been involved with at least five women.”

“In that other world, polygamy is normal. Manning probably counted all women he had relations with as wives.”

“No mistake?” Zhuang Cheng blinked. Is Wu Feng really such a playboy? And here I thought he was a gentleman.

Chu Feng shook his head. “Nope. Manning’s ability has been verified several times—you even experienced it yourself.”

Zhuang Cheng: “Let’s not bring up my two-girlfriend black history.”

Manning glanced at Zhuang Cheng a few times and said a couple more things to Chu Feng.

Zhuang Cheng saw the change in Chu Feng’s expression and asked, “What did he say now?”

Chu Feng looked at Zhuang Cheng and said, “Manning said you used to have two girlfriends, now you’ve got none. That’s pretty cold of you. You liked them before, and now you’ve lost all feelings?”

Zhuang Cheng muttered, “You told me I should focus on studying and not date so young. That’s why I corrected myself!”

Lately, Zhuang Cheng had been obsessed with studying ability-user abilities, and his vague crushes on two classmates had faded.

Chu Feng was surprised. “Really? You actually listened to me? Or was it because you got rejected?”

Zhuang Cheng: “Can we get back to talking about Lin Yunfei?”

Chu Feng composed himself and shook his head. “Yunfei’s disappearance is probably related to Wu Feng’s illegitimate son. The only question is whether Wu Feng knows about it.”

“There’s a saying: even a vicious tiger won’t eat its cubs. But there’s another: in royal families, there are no fathers and sons. The Lin family may not be royalty, but with that much money involved, who knows what Wu Feng might be planning?”

“Manning just pointed the direction, but if Wu Feng is involved, they might never find him. Worse, Wu Feng might do something reckless.”

Zhuang Cheng frowned. “No way… right?”

He said that, but deep down, he was starting to believe it. He’d already felt Wu Feng’s attitude was off earlier—maybe he was worried something might be exposed, and that’s why he reacted so poorly.

Chu Feng scoffed. “You’re from a big family too. You know how messy they can be.”

Zhuang Cheng muttered, “Not all big families are that messy…”

Chu Feng laughed. “Your family isn’t messy?”

Zhuang Cheng gave an awkward smile and said, “Yeah, things seem kind of messy. My father and uncle are like fire and water, my second brother was switched at birth… Fortunately, I’m not short on money. If I were, I might’ve tried to swap you out and fight to become the heir of the Zhuang family,” Chu Feng said.

Zhuang Cheng: “…”

Should he be thankful that Chu Feng is rich? His second brother keeps talking about taking him out right in front of his face—doesn’t seem very appropriate.

“Send me your address. I’ll come meet you,” Zhuang Cheng said a bit excitedly. “Second brother, you’re really coming?”

Chu Feng took a deep breath. “I have no choice. Manning exposed the location. If Wu Feng is involved and, under pressure from being exposed, takes the risk to silence someone… not only would we fail to help, we’d end up making enemies.”

Zhuang Cheng thought to himself: That’s true… but Lin Yunfei is Wu Feng’s son. He wouldn’t go that far, right?

After Chu Feng met up with Zhuang Cheng and the others, they teleported to the Xinhu Bay residential area.

“They probably weren’t there earlier, but the person’s already been moved,” Zhuang Cheng said, lowering his head and shifting his gaze. The fact that the person was moved so quickly increased the likelihood that Wu Feng was involved.

Zhuang Cheng’s phone rang.

“Xiao Cheng, the person you found isn’t reliable! There’s no one at that location. Maybe they just pointed in a random direction.”

Zhuang Cheng nodded. “The direction was calculated by a master, so it should be correct… but maybe there was some deviation.”

Now that he suspected Wu Feng’s involvement, Zhuang Cheng didn’t dare say anything rash. Wu Feng likely had ties to Madam Lin. If she gave him updates on their movements, things could get dangerous.

If Madam Lin trusted Wu Feng more, he’d end up looking like the villain.

From a distance, Chu Feng saw Zhuang’s mother and Madam Lin.

Chu Feng glanced at Manning. “Madam Lin is over there—it’s a bit far. Can you pinpoint Lin Yunfei’s location?”

Manning nodded. “Yes, he’s been moved more than 100 kilometers east.”

Zhuang Cheng was shocked. “That distance…”

Zhuang Cheng pursed his lips. If that’s the case, the transfer probably started right after they left the Lin family. The kidnappers got the message the moment they left.

Chu Feng looked at the sky. “Let’s go. Let’s get this over with.”

He brought the group to the location Manning had indicated. As soon as they teleported over, a truck sped past them.

Manning narrowed her eyes. “The person should be in that truck. The driver and the person inside are half-brothers.”

Chu Feng narrowed his eyes. “Then it has to be that truck.”

With one horizontal slash, Chu Feng cut through space, bursting the truck’s tires.

The truck was forced to stop. The cars behind it saw the blowout and also stopped to watch. The road was instantly filled with honking.

Several drivers stuck their heads out of their windows to see what was going on.

Chu Feng casually waved his hand with a bit more force, and the van was neatly sliced in two.

Zhuang Cheng gasped. That van was way too fragile—it was cut in half like tofu!

“That’s Young Master Lin!”

As the van split in two, Zhuang Cheng spotted someone in the backseat—his hands tied behind him, mouth sealed with tape.

The driver seemed terrified and bolted from the vehicle.

It was already close to 10 PM, but the road was still packed. Seeing the “accident,” many drivers stopped to take photos and post them online.

Crowds of onlookers surrounded the scene, snapping pictures of the sliced van. Everyone was whispering—clearly something big had happened.

A van cut clean in two, with what looked like a kidnapping victim inside—this was no ordinary event.

Zhuang Cheng also pulled out his phone to take photos, though he was too far to get anything useful.

Chu Feng stood with his hands on his hips. “These people are pretty bold! Aren’t they worried about being cut in half too?”

“Well, to get a good shot, it’s worth a little risk.”

Drivers and passengers eagerly took pictures and started chatting.

“This cut is too clean—it must’ve been a superpowered person!”

“A superpower strong enough to do this? That’s impressive!”

“But why would a superpowered person slice a van like this?”

“Isn’t it obvious? Look inside—the guy’s been kidnapped.”

“Maybe that person was here to rescue him?”

The crowd seemed to finally understand. Some even guessed that Lin Yunfei had a connection with Chu Feng.

A few people taking close-up shots of the car realized someone was tied up inside and focused their cameras on the backseat, giving Lin Yunfei a few close-ups.

Zhuang Cheng noticed Lin Yunfei in the back. “Why isn’t he awake yet after all that noise? Don’t tell me he’s…”

Illya glanced at Zhuang Cheng. “Not dead.”

Zhuang Cheng let out a breath. “Good. As long as he’s alive.”

The noise from the crowd finally woke Lin Yunfei up. He started struggling hard.

People were still snapping photos, but no one stepped in to untie him.

Zhuang Cheng frowned. “What’s going on? Why is no one untying him?”

Illya thought for a moment. “We live in a time when you can’t even help an old person who’s fallen down. You think people dare to untie a kidnapping victim?”

Chu Feng gave Illya a look and praised, “You’re really smart.”

Chu Feng thought to himself: Illya just got here, but he understands this world better than Zhuang Cheng does. Zhuang Cheng’s kind of an idiot.

More and more people gathered around. Some drivers who had already passed even turned back to see the excitement.

The entire road was jammed. Zhuang Cheng shook his head at the scene.

Lin Yunfei struggled for a while before finally, a girl couldn’t stand watching and stepped forward to untie him and remove the tape from his mouth.

Lin Yunfei sincerely thanked her.

As soon as the tape was off and people recognized his face—

“Huh? Isn’t that the young master of the Lin Group?”

Once people heard who he was, those who had held back out of fear immediately regretted it, realizing they missed the chance to curry favor with someone rich and powerful.

“Master Lin, are you okay?”

“Master Lin, who kidnapped you?” “Master Lin, what’s your relationship with that ability-user?”

Lin Yunfei had just regained consciousness and was completely dazed by the crowd’s questions.
