Chapter 155: Banquet Dispute
Zhuang Cheng brought Yuanyuan back to the capital, sparking a stir among the Zhuang and Su families. Su Lin burst into tears upon seeing her daughter and thanked Zhuang Cheng profusely.
Yuanyuan had been neglected in that household. It wasn’t even deep winter yet, but her hands were already covered in frostbite. Su Lin was so heartbroken that she nearly fainted from crying.
After rescuing Yuanyuan, Zhuang Cheng thought: Maybe the connection between mother and daughter is real. When I met with cousin Su Lin, she said she dreamed Yuanyuan was cold—and it really turned out to be true.
That adoptive family didn’t even give Yuanyuan warm clothes. In the freezing cold, she was washing clothes in thin rags—were they trying to kill her?
Zhuang Cheng was surrounded by people asking how he found Yuanyuan. He finally managed to sit down in a corner, still shaken, and muttered, “These aunts and uncles are really enthusiastic! Once they catch you, they won’t stop talking.”
“Xiao Cheng, how did you know where Yuanyuan was?” Zhuang Feixue asked.
“I already said, didn’t I? Auntie put out a missing person notice. Someone saw it and contacted me, so I went and brought her back,” Zhuang Cheng replied.
Zhuang Feixue shook her head. “That doesn’t make sense! If Auntie posted the notice, why were you the one contacted? The phone number on the notice should’ve been hers or someone from her family. Why would anyone reach out to you? Even you said before that kids grow fast and they all look kind of alike. It’s not that easy to identify someone.”
“Besides,” she continued, “we couldn’t find her two years ago. But now you suddenly did? I saw Yuanyuan too—she looks like she’s been through hell. She’s small, skinny, and covered in chilblains. If we hadn’t done a paternity test, I wouldn’t even believe she was my niece.”
“I’m telling you the truth. How can you not believe me?” Zhuang Cheng said sullenly.
Zhuang Feixue frowned. “Put yourself in my shoes—could you believe it? There are even rumors going around that you were the one who sold Yuanyuan, which is how you knew where to find her.”
Zhuang Cheng became flustered and annoyed. “That’s ridiculous! It must be Uncle. He’s insane—always making up rumors online. A CEO who does nothing all day but follow internet gossip? Hopeless.”
Zhuang Feixue frowned even more. “Even if it sounds far-fetched, there is something fishy about your story.”
Zhuang Cheng sighed helplessly. “I’m telling you—don’t go spreading this around!”
Zhuang Feixue got a bit excited. “Fine. But how exactly did you find her?”
Zhuang Cheng admitted half-truthfully, “I found someone online to help me. He pointed me in the right direction.”
Zhuang Feixue perked up. “Was it a ability-user or a diviner? Even before Awakened powers existed, there were already many fortune-tellers. I heard one of them awakened a divination ability—charges a fortune for a single reading, only does three a day!”
Zhuang Cheng nodded vaguely. “Something like that.”
“So those kinds of masters really do exist!” Zhuang Feixue said in amazement.
In truth, when Yuanyuan first went missing, Su Lin’s family tried everything—sought out countless “masters,” spent a fortune, but not even a shadow of the girl turned up.
Zhuang Feixue looked at Zhuang Cheng, worried. “You were too reckless—going alone to such a remote village. What if something had happened to you?”
Zhuang Cheng: “…”
He hadn’t gone alone at all. It’s just that, in the end, he got left behind.
“We should thank that fortune-teller properly. Did you give him a reward?” Zhuang Feixue asked.
Zhuang Cheng shook his head. “I’m out of money. Sis, can you lend me some? I’ll save up my allowance and pay you back later.”
“How much do you need?” Zhuang Feixue asked.
Zhuang Cheng hesitated. “Thirty million.”
Zhuang Feixue was stunned. “That much?”
Zhuang Cheng nodded. “Roughly. After all, with the money we made selling jade, even that much probably wouldn’t impress Chu Feng.”
Zhuang Feixue nodded. “Alright, I’ll transfer the money to you later.”
Zhuang Cheng looked at her and said, “Sis, you look thinner.”
Zhuang Feixue took his hand. “Right? I think so too. But I only lost about four jin. There was this lady who bought slimming elixirs from me—she lost sixty jin in just a few days! When heavy people lose weight fast, it often leads to sagging skin, but these elixirs seem to help with that. And if you combine them with beauty elixirs, the effects are even better.”
Zhuang Feixue hadn’t been actively promoting the slimming elixirs, but the news still got out through well-connected circles.
Given how effective the beauty and health elixirs had been, people had high expectations. The first to come knocking was a wealthy madam named Hua. She used to be a great beauty in her youth. But two years ago, she got sick and had too many hormone injections, causing rapid visible bloating.
After recovering, Madam Hua put a lot of effort into losing weight, but as the saying goes, it’s easy to gain, hard to lose. She tried all sorts of methods to no avail. Having previously bought beauty elixirs, she came begging Zhuang Feixue for a slimming one.
Zhuang Feixue, curious about the outcome, sold her an elixir. The result was astonishing. Fat is the natural enemy of women, and many rich ladies are willing to spend big to get rid of it.
Since the slimming elixir appeared, its reputation had skyrocketed—almost on par with the beauty and health elixirs.
“Oh right,” Zhuang Cheng said, “I had someone deliver that fruit wine to you. Did you get it?”
Zhuang Feixue looked puzzled. “Fruit wine? What fruit wine? When?”
Zhuang Cheng looked a little embarrassed. “Three days ago. It was Second Brother’s fruit wine.”
Zhuang Feixue suddenly got worked up. “I never received it! Who did you ask to deliver it? Did they run off with the wine?”
She knew about Chu Feng’s wine—it had both beauty and health benefits. If it were sold, millions wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
Zhuang Feixue wasn’t much of a drinker, but she really liked the taste of Chu Feng’s wine.
Zhuang Cheng mumbled, “I’ve heard of people running off with money, but not with wine. Second Brother really doesn’t care about appearances—he used a Sprite bottle! Who would think good wine was in that?”
“Who did you ask to deliver it?” Zhuang Feixue pressed.
Zhuang Cheng blinked. “Chen… Assistant Chen.”
Zhuang Feixue glared. “Are you asking to get hit?”
Zhuang Feixue pressed her lips together, thinking, Assistant Chen is usually very reliable. I don’t think he would’ve kept the wine for himself. But… he is one of Dad’s men. And Dad has been eyeing that wine for a long time. If it passed through Chen’s hands, there’s probably not much left now.
Zhuang Cheng glanced nervously at her. “Sis, don’t be like that…”
Su Manqing walked over. “What are you two bickering about now?”
Having found her daughter, Su Manqing was still happy. But when she turned around and saw her eldest daughter arguing with her youngest son, she was speechless.
Zhuang Feixue, with a dark expression, said, “He gave the wine Second Brother gave me to Assistant Chen.”
Su Manqing frowned and said, “If he gave it, then he gave it, what’s the big deal?”
Zhuang Feixue, clearly agitated, said, “Mom, you make it sound so easy. That stuff was clearly stolen by Dad for himself. That’s why I didn’t hear anything about it.”
“What kind of wine was it? I’ll buy it for you.”
Zhuang Feixue snapped, “As if you could buy it! It was gifted by my little brother — it’s a beauty-enhancing wine.”
Manqing looked shocked. “That wine really works for beauty?” She had heard about Chu Feng’s wine too. Apparently, it tasted great. Her husband always drank it very cautiously, like it was some rare divine brew, and he always looked so reluctant when it was gone.
Zhuang Feixue noticed her mother’s expression and suddenly realized she had just added another competitor to the mix. She stood up, agitated. “I’m going to find Dad and get my stuff back.”
Su Manqing smiled awkwardly, trying to mediate. “Feixue, don’t get so worked up.”
Zhuang Feixue was clearly furious. “That’s my wine. It was a gift for me. You all don’t want to acknowledge my little brother, yet you’re happy to snatch what he gave me.”
Su Manqing froze for a moment, an awkward expression appearing on her face. As Zhuang Feixue lashed out, several people in the room started to glance over.
Realizing she might have gone too far, Zhuang Feixue turned her head away, embarrassed.
Her sudden outburst startled Zhuang Cheng. Manqing lowered her head, a bit saddened — it wasn’t that she didn’t want to acknowledge Chu Feng, she just didn’t know how to interact with him.
In truth, she was rather proud to see how successful her son had become lately.
Father Zhuang walked over, having overheard his daughter’s complaints. He couldn’t help but wish he could dig a hole and hide.
The wine Chu Feng gave Feixue had been intercepted by Father Zhuang. He used to think he was clever for doing so — now he just felt deeply ashamed.
With an embarrassed smile, he said, “Feixue, don’t be mad. I’ll give all the wine back to you… well, I drank two bottles already…”
He suddenly felt he had gone too far. Rubbing his hands awkwardly, he stood there, embarrassed.
Feixue shook her head, muttering, “Forget it.” It wasn’t just about the wine — it was about the family’s attitude toward her younger brother.
Zhuang Feixu came over and said, “Sis, don’t be mad at Dad.”
Feixue responded dully, “I’m not mad at him. I’m just standing up for my rightful property.”
Zhuang Feixu gave an awkward laugh. “Sis, you know how Dad is with wine. No need to argue with him over this.”
Feixue said calmly, “If it were any other wine, I’d let it go. But this was from my younger brother. It was a special gift — how could I just give it away like it meant nothing?”
Feixu felt her face burning. She had once tried to convince Chu Feng to come back to the Zhuang family, but he had refused. Honestly, she had felt relieved by that refusal.
If Chu Feng did return, she wouldn’t know how to face him.
Feixue frowned again and said, “I’m going to check on Yuanyuan.”
Feixu just stood there, head down, looking disheartened.
Zhou Ting grabbed Feixue’s arm angrily and asked, “What are you doing?”
Feixue looked at him and asked, “What am I doing?”
Zhou Ting stared at her and said, “Feixu is really upset.”
Feixue gave him a cool glance. “Then go comfort her. Why come to me?”
“Feixue, don’t provoke her anymore.”
Feixue clenched her teeth and ignored him.
Su Lin’s husband is He Yunzheng — also a wealthy businessman.
The He family’s recent reunion with their long-lost daughter after two years had become a hot topic.
In fact, it wouldn’t have caused such a stir on its own, but a lot had been happening all at once: Zhuang Feixu turned out to be a child who was switched at birth; Zhuang Cheng had gone missing and was rescued by a mysterious expert; The He family had found their daughter.
Su Yuexin pulled Zhuang Cheng aside. “Nephew, come here — I want to ask you something.”
She looked at him mysteriously. “Tell me the truth — was your niece rescued by that mysterious expert?”
Zhuang Cheng didn’t say anything, and Su Yuexin stared at his expression. “Judging by your face, I’d say yes.”
She had suspected it — after all, how could someone find their daughter with just a missing person flyer after two years? If flyers were really that effective, they’d have found her years ago.
Zhuang Cheng looked at her and said, “Aunt, the expert prefers to stay low-key and doesn’t like attention.”
Su Yuexin nodded. “I get it, I get it. Mysterious heroes always have their own quirks. But still — he helped us so much, we can’t just do nothing to thank him. Shouldn’t we give him a gift or something? What does he like?”
Zhuang Cheng thought for a moment. “Money. He likes money.”
Su Yuexin gasped. “Seriously?! That’s so… mundane for a hero!”
“But wait — didn’t he not come to claim the reward last time? That’s why everyone said he was noble and selfless.”
Zhuang Cheng shook his head. “He took it — just did it discreetly.”
Su Yuexin nodded. “Ah, that makes more sense. I wouldn’t know how to thank him otherwise. But if he likes money, that’s easy! How should I send it?”
Zhuang Cheng said, “Aunt, just transfer it to my account. I’ll find a way to get it to him.”
Su Yuexin nodded. “Okay.”
Zhuang Cheng took a deep breath and thought to himself: Selling elixirs, jade, collecting commissions — by now, Chu Feng’s net worth must be close to a billion. If he keeps going at this rate, he might even hit ten billion someday!
Unlike their father’s business, which had ups and downs, his second brother’s business had almost no cost.
Meanwhile, Ming sat on the sofa with a gloomy expression.
Zhuang Zhiming came downstairs and looked at her. “What’s wrong? Didn’t you go shopping with your girlfriends?”
“Don’t even mention it — totally boring.”
She used to enjoy outings with her friends — chatting about brands, cosmetics, jewelry, cruise trips… but now? As soon as she shows up, they all start pestering her about health elixirs, beauty elixirs, slimming tonics, and asking her to pull strings for them.
Ming had always had a bad relationship with Zhuang Feixue. Even the elixirs she used herself were obtained secretly through third parties. How could she possibly help others get any?
“Is Zhuang Feixue really that arrogant now?”
“How is she arrogant?” Zhuang Zhiming asked.
Zhuang Ming pursed her lips and said, “She invited quite a few people to eat at a buffet. In their social circle, who dares to eat freely? But she ate a lot herself, and after the meal, she took a Slimming Elixir.”
Zhuang Ming squinted her eyes. The Slimming Elixir had become very popular recently. Many people wanted to buy it but couldn’t. As far as she knew, the elixir worked better the more overweight someone was. Zhuang Feixue’s figure was actually quite standard—she didn’t need it at all. But she insisted on taking it anyway. She treated the Slimming Elixir like a secret weapon against gaining weight.
When the Slimming Elixir first came out, it was one million per elixir, and now the price had risen to two million. Zhuang Feixue would rely on this elixir to prevent weight gain after a lavish meal—meaning one meal cost her two million. It was outrageously extravagant.
Zhuang Zhiming gritted his teeth and thought to himself: The second household really had been doing well lately. It was said that they were able to retrieve Yuanyuan this time thanks to some expert Zhuang Cheng had found. If that were true, then Zhuang Cheng’s luck had truly turned—finding a top-grade jade and getting connected to an expert.
“Beauty Elixirs are getting more expensive too!”
Zhuang Zhiming’s face darkened. “Two million per elixir—might as well be robbery.” Zhiming didn’t need the Beauty Elixirs himself, but his kept canaries did! He’d been spending quite a bit on elixirs lately, and his private funds were shrinking.
