Chapter 132: Business Plans in Tianhai City
After the meal with Zhuang Feixue, Chu Feng went to check on his storage warehouse.
Looking at the packed space, he thought, It really is overflowing…
Illya checked his phone and said, “About a quarter of the goods have arrived.”
Chu Feng took a deep breath. All this stuff is just a quarter? Just how much did Illya actually buy?!
“Let’s tidy up and move this batch out first,” Chu Feng said. “If we don’t clear it, there won’t be space for the next delivery.”
Illya nodded. “Okay, no problem.”
After tidying up, they moved a huge batch of goods. Once one round was done, Chu Feng asked Illya to cover them with his gray fog ability. With Illya’s help, Chu Feng rapidly consumed the power stored in his lightning mark, and they quickly returned to the modern world.
Back and forth, they made six trips in total. Finally, all the goods in the warehouse were transferred to the other world.
“It’s finally over. Moving cargo is really exhausting,” Illya said.
Chu Feng: “…” If it’s so exhausting, then don’t buy so much next time…
Looking at the mark on his hand, Chu Feng couldn’t help but smile. On his own, he could only make two round trips per day between the two worlds. But with Illya and his abilities, they managed six in a day—this wasn’t just a simple 1+1.
“I’ll go get Hall and the others,” Illya said.
Soon after, Hall entered with a few others.
“So much stuff…” Hall muttered.
Chu Feng glanced at Hall. “Unpack everything and sort it out.”
Hall, who already had plenty of experience unpacking deliveries, nodded.
Gray stood to the side, looking at the mountain of packages, and said in shock, “This is way too much…”
Chu Feng nodded. “Yeah, it is a bit much. Starting tomorrow, everyone’s wages will go up.”
Gray’s eyes lit up. “Really? How much?”
Chu Feng generously replied, “Double.”
Gray nodded eagerly. “Got it!”
Suddenly remembering something, Gray added, “Brother Feng, the shaman said to find you when you came back. He has something to tell you.”
Chu Feng nodded. “Alright.”
He and Illya went to find the shaman.
“You’re here!” The shaman looked at the two of them and said, “These are for you.”
Chu Feng glanced over — it was a few jars of Hundred Fruit Brew and some elixirs. The elixirs gave off a faint, clear fragrance that was extremely attractive to Chu Feng. He took one and swallowed it, and a strong medicinal energy immediately spread through him, sweeping away the fatigue from his recent travels.
“Shaman, this is…”
Shaman Qiu Luo said gently, “These are the latest elixirs we’ve refined. There aren’t many — only twenty. They’re effective for ability users too. They were made using the spiritual herbs you bought last time in Tianhai City.”
Chu Feng nodded. “I see.”
Back then, they’d spent quite a lot on those spiritual herbs in Tianhai, using up nearly all of their 80,000 gold coins. Chu Feng had felt quite heartbroken afterward.
But considering the effectiveness of these elixirs, it was money well spent.
Unfortunately, they no longer had any gold coins left. Otherwise, they could’ve bought more. Shaman Qiu Luo looked at Chu Feng and said, “I have an idea.”
Chu Feng asked curiously, “What is it, shaman? Please go ahead.”
“I want to send a few people to Tianhai City to open a small shop and make some money.” This idea wasn’t originally Shaman Qiu Luo’s — it was actually Tilly’s. She had applied to be a shop manager before but wasn’t selected. Since they no longer needed that many shop managers locally, she proposed this new idea.
In Crescent Village, many people were effectively “unemployed drifters.” A number of them were actively trying to find ways to contribute.
Previously, when Chu Feng had taken Lan Hu to Tianhai City for a visit, the news had reached Tilly’s ears, which sparked this idea in her.
Chu Feng nodded. “It’s a good proposal.”
He had thought about opening a store in a nearby town to sell goods from the modern world, but upon reflection, he’d realized it wasn’t practical.
Opening a shop nearby could expose Crescent Village to outside forces. Also, the area was remote, and the villagers’ purchasing power was limited, so he had given up on that idea.
Now, thinking about it again, Chu Feng realized that with his long-distance teleportation ability, he could easily open a shop thousands of miles away. Since Illya had brought so many goods, and they wouldn’t be used up locally, exchanging them for gold coins would be the best outcome.
With more gold coins, he could purchase more spiritual herbs. With those, he might truly become a peerless expert.
“Let’s go with your plan, shaman,” Chu Feng said.
The shaman nodded. “Alright.”
*
Crescent Village.
“Tilly, did the boss agree?” Lan Weier asked.
Tilly nodded. “He agreed.”
In fact, many half-elves dreamed of seeing the free world beyond — it was a shared aspiration. But due to the dangers outside, few had ever ventured out.
“Won’t it be dangerous in Tianhai City?” Yezakura asked.
Tilly smiled. “What’s there to be afraid of? We’ve got guns! Besides, Tianhai is known for being open-minded, with all races living together. Fighting is prohibited within the city — it’s much safer than most places.” Tilly had thought this through before proposing the idea of opening a shop outside.
Yezakura nodded. “That’s true.”
The dwarves had ramped up weapon production. Now, everyone in Crescent Village carried a revolver.
Most of the half-elves were born sharpshooters. With guns, they became deadly marksmen, rarely missing their shots. Many villagers had already started hunting with handguns. Even the fiercest beasts were no match for bullets.
“I heard the boss is giving everyone a raise — double, even!”
Tilly pressed her lips together and quietly exhaled. A raise was good news, of course — but she was unemployed. The raise didn’t apply to her.
Those big dumb guys from the Highland Tribe were throwing a celebration over the raise.
This couldn’t go on. If things stayed the same, even those Highland brutes would be better off than them — the unemployed.
To be fair, Chu Feng had been quite generous with the villagers, giving them lots of things for free. But others were earning their keep. The unemployed were getting handouts — that couldn’t continue forever.
If the shop in Tianhai City opened, the pioneers would likely earn a high salary.
“Tilly, do you want to be the manager?” Yezakura asked.
Tilly nodded. “Yes.”
Tilly and Qinglan were known as the “Twin Flowers of Crescent.” Both were equally beautiful, with equally many admirers. But Qinglan had become a shop manager, while she remained unemployed. Tilly couldn’t help but feel bitter about that.
“How’s your math coming along?” Yezakura asked.
Tilly looked a bit discouraged. “I’ve improved a lot.”
She sighed. She’d worked hard, but still struggled with basic arithmetic. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division — it all confused her. Qinglan was different — Chu Feng often praised her as a top student.
“Who does the boss want to appoint as the shop manager?” Yezakura muttered.
She frowned. “That fat guy?”
Tilly nodded, sulking. “Yes, that fat guy.” Lan Hu didn’t have much talent, but he had a decent foundation, and his math seemed okay.
*
In the castle, Chu Feng stood at the gate, gazing at the plaza in the distance. A bonfire had been lit there, and a group of Highlanders were singing and dancing around it.
“They sure look happy,” he said.
Illya nodded. “Of course — today they got a raise.”
Chu Feng thought, It’s just a raise… is that such a big deal?
Well, maybe it is. If his salary suddenly doubled, he’d probably be thrilled too.
“Letting Lan Hu go to Tianhai City — is that really okay?” Illya asked quietly.
Chu Feng took a deep breath. “No one else can keep the situation under control.”
While Tianhai was known for being open-minded, and though beastkin and half-elves didn’t face as much discrimination there as in other places, they were still often looked down on. Lan Hu might be useless, but he was from one of the three major noble families of the royal capital.
Even if he wore a slave collar, no one would dare treat him too harshly.
“Tilly’s going to be disappointed,” Illya said.
Chu Feng smiled. “She might not be the store manager, but we can make her the assistant manager.”
All he really wanted was to leverage Lan Hu’s status. The actual management could be handed to Tilly.
Illya nodded. “That works too.”
*
Inside the castle, Shi Qi looked at Lan Hu. “Young master, the boss is sending you to Tianhai?”
Lan Hu nodded. “That’s right.”
“Did you agree to go?”
“I’m still considering it. I’m really reluctant to give up the air conditioning here. But if I go over there, I’ll be the store manager. Isn’t Qing Lan all high and mighty just because she’s a manager? If I go to Tianhai City, I can be just as cool as she is.”
He also asked Chu Feng if they could install air conditioning in Tianhai City, but Chu Feng rejected the idea, saying it would draw too much attention. Instead, he offered some kind of heat patch—stick it on your body and it naturally generates warmth. Pretty amazing stuff.
Shi Qi asked with some confusion, “Why does the boss want you to go to Tianhai City?”
“Probably because of my background.”
Tianhai City is a melting pot of different races, but half-orcs and half-elves still face discrimination. At least he’s from the Merdes family—that name carries weight. The Merdes family has some influence in Tianhai, so if he goes, the store can open more quickly.
Lan Hu looked at Shi Qi with some excitement and said, “If I become the store manager, Chu Feng promised me a salary of 100 work credits per day!”
Shi Qi nodded and said, “That’s really good.”
Recently, the boss raised everyone’s salary. Most people got a raise of 100%, though hers only increased by 30—but she already earned a lot, so it was still a decent bump.
Lan Hu said smugly, “Chu Feng finally came to his senses. How could someone like me only be worth 10 credits a day? At least 100!”
Shi Qi asked curiously, “Why did the boss suddenly want to open a shop?”
“Probably because we’ve brought over way too much stuff recently. You didn’t see it—Illya’s been hauling things in by the truckload. Everyone says I’m a spendthrift, but honestly, Illya’s even worse. The big boss just indulges him blindly.”
Rumor has it that most of the stuff was bought by Illya. A lot of it isn’t even useful—just a complete waste.
Shi Qi gave Lan Hu a sidelong glance and said, “Well, if the boss is willing…”
She thought privately: The young master has the nerve to criticize Chu Feng? Back in the capital, he once spent a fortune for Lichiya. But now that Miss Lichiya asked to borrow some work credits, he’s suddenly become stingy, as if he doesn’t want to lend them.
