The 55th Day of Livestream Selling

Chapter 55: The 55th Day of Livestream Selling

The mental bodies of Yasa imperial family members were mostly large feline creatures. For example, Emperor Anderich’s royal lion, and Elowen and her imperial mother Patricia’s clouded leopards.

Reinhardt’s was the most special: a fantasy species known as a Star-Devouring Beast. When necessary, it looked much like a silver-white tiger, with a white base and black stripes, a round head, and short ears. Its adult form was, in the literal sense, an enormous creature. But under ordinary circumstances, to conserve energy, this animal that could devour all things was only about the size of a normal tabby cat.

What Elowen should have said to Lin Zhao was: This is not my brother’s cat. This is my brother’s.

But…

Before she could speak, Reinhardt, already restless in Lin Zhao’s arms, began a tense and thrilling biting war with his own possessive tail, which had unconsciously wrapped itself around Lin Zhao’s wrist.

His violet pupils had originally narrowed into two satisfied slits, and he had been making contented little purring sounds in Lin Zhao’s arms. Although he greatly disliked seeing someone in the camera stealing Lin Zhao’s attention, he was a kitten with plenty of strength and methods. All he had to do was raise his head slightly and use his warm pink nose to rub against Lin Zhao’s sharply defined jaw, and he successfully drew Lin Zhao’s attention back to himself.

Lin Zhao could not help raising his hand and rubbing the big cat’s tail, soothing its inexplicable agitation.

There was nothing wrong with that gesture, right?

But Reinhardt, whose mind was not especially clear at the moment, instantly puffed up. Of course, it was not directed at Lin Zhao, but at that tail—“the one that did nothing yet received the most petting.”

On what grounds?

A love-brain was just that unreasonable. Even those short, upright triangular ears turned alertly forward. His purple irises contracted into two sharp vertical almonds. Sparks of jealousy popped in his not particularly large fluffy head with a snap—anyone or anything that competed with him for Lin Zhao deserved to die!

The big cat’s soft body instantly tightened like a fully drawn bow. His hind legs pushed off Lin Zhao’s arm, and his entire body launched toward that “arrogant” tail.

“Grr!” A warning growl rolled from his throat.

His sharp front paws hugged the tip of his own tail, but because he used too much force, he staggered on Lin Zhao’s beige sofa. He blinked in astonishment. That tail had actually cunningly escaped and was still swaying in the air as if provoking him! Even more deserving of death!

The battle officially escalated.

Two little flames seemed to ignite in those purple eyes. Reinhardt completely forgot that half his body was hanging over the edge of the sofa. After one agile turn, he wrapped all four snow-white paws around that disobedient tail and launched a deadly little series of rabbit kicks at it with his hind legs. Fur flew everywhere as his body swayed left and right.

Then, when he suddenly twisted his head, he attacked the fluffiest tuft of fur on the tail. His sharp little tiger teeth bit into his own fur with a “chomp.”

“Meow-ao!” Reinhardt yelped in pain. His round eyes widened as if he had been electrocuted, filled with disbelief. Yet he still refused to let go of the tail he had mangled into a mess.

Lin Zhao had already collapsed to one side of the sofa, laughing so hard he was about to make a fortune from it.

Grand Duchess Elowen no longer knew what to say. Sorry, this lunatic who even got jealous of his own tail was her younger brother? Honestly, it was a little faintly embarrassing.

She felt that her brother definitely would not want to leave such a not-very-intelligent impression on his future lover at their first meeting.

Then Elowen realized something else about her brother. “You… you bathed him?”

“Yes.” Lin Zhao nodded. He had not originally planned to. Anyone who had raised a cat knew that kittens cleaned themselves. Generally speaking, bathing them once or twice a year was enough; washing too often would instead damage their skin. But Leni’s little cat was truly a little silly. As soon as Lin Zhao brought him back, he was afraid the cat might be hungry, so he poured him a bowl of goat milk.

But it was as if the cat was taming his own four limbs for the first time. His walking movements were very awkward, as though he was completely unfamiliar with this body. When he stood on the floor, the silver-white tip of his tail hung at his side, swaying slightly. He tilted his head, and his ears turned along with it. The dark tufts on the tips even trembled, as if he did not understand what Lin Zhao meant.

Lin Zhao could only push the goat milk bowl closer to the kitten.

But the strange, inexplicable tacit understanding between the two meant that, just as Lin Zhao moved, the kitten also stumbled forward two steps.

The result was that Leni’s cat plunged headfirst into the goat milk.

The entire world went silent.

When that wet little head was pulled out of the pool of milk, its round eyes were filled with shock, as if accusing the goat milk of having no martial virtue and actually trying to drown a kitten.

The fine, soft fur stuck to his skin in strands, outlining a suddenly “bony” little pointed face and a round skull. His pink nose had turned white, and his whiskers were even more heavily burdened. Every single one was strung with glittering milk droplets, drooping downward under the weight.

Reinhardt was completely stunned. He remained frozen in place. Only the milk droplets slid down from his eyelashes, chin, and whiskers, dripping onto the bowl and floor, creating tiny ripples. When he instinctively shook his body, it caused an even more terrifying “milk rain.”

It was not only Reinhardt who had taken a bath. Lin Zhao had also taken one. He had even been forced to change clothes.

After listening to the entire disaster scene, Lady Elowen completely changed her wording and said, “Strictly speaking, this is not really a cat, but a fantasy species. He seems to like you very much. However, please do not be fooled by his appearance. He is still somewhat dangerous and aggressive toward strangers, so please make sure to keep an eye on him. Something has happened on our side for the time being. Could I trouble you to help us look after him for a while? I promise we will come to retrieve him as soon as possible.”

“Of course, no problem.” Lin Zhao felt that everything made sense now. Because it was a fantasy species, it could suddenly appear somewhere, just like Third Aunt before. Because something had happened, Leni had not answered his calls.

And he happened to want to raise a purple-eyed tabby cat.

“Oh, right. His name is…”

“Mimi.” Lin Zhao called out to his little cat, then remembered to look at Elowen. “What did you say?”

Elowen had originally wanted to temporarily give her younger brother a name. At least, no matter how she thought about it, with her brother’s arrogant personality, it was impossible for him to submit to a name like Mimi.

And then there was no then.

A person—no, a cat—could not, or at least should not…

Reinhardt had already happily come over to nudge Lin Zhao with his head. After battling the hair dryer and his own tail, he was now eyeing his biological sister with hostility, very much giving off a “Why are you still not done talking? Do you want to fight?” kind of impatience.

After all, he did not currently think of himself as anyone’s younger brother. He had absolutely no memory of anything before opening his eyes, and his mind was completely blank. But what did that matter? The moment he opened his eyes, he saw the person he liked most.

The beautiful young man stood beneath the warm light, his skin looking unusually fair. He wore a slightly oversized cashmere sweater. The V-neck revealed the delicate lines of his collarbones. His outfit was a very ordinary, comfortable home style, but because of his upright posture and unforgettable aura, it did not seem casual at all.

So beautiful. This concept abruptly jumped into Reinhardt’s mind. It had nothing to do with any aesthetic standard, but was the most direct kind of perceptive resonance.

He had forgotten who had told him this, probably when he was very, very young.

He had asked, “How do you know who your destined one is?”

The other person had said, “The moment you truly meet them, you will naturally know.” That was why people always said that the most important thing in a Yasa person’s life was not becoming stronger, but finding their destined lover—the one and only lover. “When you meet, the light marrow in your body will produce a resonance far beyond physical laws. It cannot be forged, cannot be replicated, and will sweep through everything like a crushing force. It is a universe-level confirmation of uniqueness. Very romantic. For the rest of your life, every time you mention that moment, you will feel incomparable happiness.”

That happiness could be comfort. It could be safety. It could be longing.

Or it could be nothing at all. Simply because you are you, I decide to begin believing in fate.

He heard others call him Lin Zhao.

What a beautiful name, as beautiful as the person himself.

Especially those eyes.

His pupils were pure black, but when his emotions fluctuated, they also revealed a moist luster. His almond-shaped eyes were slightly elongated, the outer corners lifting faintly. When he was not smiling, they naturally carried an innocent, harmless laziness. But when Lin Zhao gazed attentively or curved the corners of his eyes slightly, that arc became gentle and deep, very much like the largest Swan Lake in Ishtars.

Ishtars? Leni Cat froze slightly. Where was that? Forget it. He shook his head, which seemed to have taken in quite a bit of water. That was not important.

Because this beautiful human had already crouched down and reached out to him, palm facing upward. It was a friendly, completely non-threatening invitation.

It made Reinhardt instinctively want to approach and look, and he did exactly that.

He first lowered his head and brought his nose close to Lin Zhao’s palm, sniffing lightly. Warm breath brushed over the skin, making both of them feel a little ticklish.

But Reinhardt still placed his head on it without hesitation.

It was not a test, nor a request. It was simply a very natural, even slightly matter-of-course act of nestling close. Silver-gray fur softly rubbed against Lin Zhao’s skin, and warmth passed through his palm. Those eyes, as if stars were flowing within them, half-closed in a satisfaction difficult to describe.

Because Lin Zhao’s palm was even more delicate than Reinhardt had imagined. The instant they touched, a strange calm washed over every newly awakened nerve ending in him.

This is it, he thought. Although he did not even know where “this” was, the conviction was as solid as a mountain. Reinhardt did not want to leave at all.

It was as though he had crossed an immeasurable distance and finally found the place where he was meant to rest.

Because of him, he became complete.

When Grand Duchess Elowen hung up the communication, she was still thinking that, for Yasa people, the first true meeting with their destined one was always special and should be recorded in grand detail. So, let it be like this for now. Once this black history passed, she would arrange a perfect “first meeting” for her brother, one that they could repeatedly reminisce about in the future.

And then…

The next day, Grand Duchess Elowen received a video from the extremely responsible cat-raising expert, Boss Xiao Lin. In the video… her foolish younger brother was sleeping on the edge of the bed with all four limbs sprawled out. When he woke up and tried to give Lin Zhao a kiss, he almost fell off first. When he looked toward the camera, the entire cat was dazed. Then this lunatic began trying to fight the bed. He would never think Lin Zhao was the problem. The problem must be whatever was preventing them from kissing!

How had she forgotten? In the new era, everyone’s black history was in high definition, impossible to delete even if one wanted to.
