Chapter 28: Hubby Is So Scary!
“…?”
The manager froze for a moment, sweat beading on his forehead.
“Young Master, I’m sorry, but what brand and product is this ‘bomb water’? If we don’t have it here, I’ll send someone to buy it for you right away.”
The others exchanged curious looks as well.
Had some new drink come out that only young people knew about?
Cen Miao had no idea what a brand was. He looked at Qin Zelin for help.
Qin Zelin felt utterly exhausted. His flat voice made him sound as though he had aged ten years.
“Please bring him a bottle of cola.”
“Cough, cough, cough!”
Meng Yu, who had been drinking water, immediately choked.
The manager: “…Certainly.”
“You can’t shake the bottle.”
Cen Miao stared at the manager with an expression that clearly said, You definitely didn’t know that, did you? Good thing I reminded you. Hurry up and thank me.
Qin Zelin: “…All right, don’t worry. He won’t shake it.”
Only you would.
The manager was extremely perceptive and hurriedly smiled.
“Yes, yes. Thank goodness the Young Master reminded me. I definitely won’t shake it.”
Throughout the entire meal, food kept appearing on the plates, and Cen Miao barely raised his head.
One moment, Qin Zelin was rolling up the sleeves of his sweater. The next, he was asking the manager to prepare some extra vegetables for him.
Eventually, when he felt Cen Miao had eaten far too much, Qin Zelin reached over and felt his swollen stomach through the sweater. Ignoring his protests, he directly ordered someone to remove Cen Miao’s plate.
“…”
The others all fell silent.
They stared dumbfounded at Qin Zelin, who was acting as both father and mother, and wondered whether the man they had once known—the one who hated trouble more than anything and cared only about work—had been possessed.
Shao Siheng felt Qin Zelin was even more devoted to his duties as the family’s hired hand than he was.
Qin Zexi was practically green with envy.
When he was little, his brother had only complained that he was noisy. He had never taken care of him with this much patience!!!
At noon the next day, Qin Zelin sent a WeChat message before lunch, intending to test Cen Miao.
[Qin Zelin] What did you eat for lunch?
[miao] Vegetables.
Qin Zelin didn’t believe for a second that he was obedient enough to voluntarily eat vegetables when no one was watching him.
Before long, Chengcheng’s WeChat message arrived.
[Great Artist Cheng] [Photo]
[Great Artist Cheng] Domineering CEO! Miaomiao bought braised pork rice, egg tarts, and grilled sausages for lunch today.
[Great Artist Cheng] He got a double portion of braised pork.
Qin Zelin: “…”
He knew it.
In the photo, there was so much braised pork piled over the rice that the rice itself couldn’t be seen. On another plate were several grilled sausages and too many egg tarts to count.
The sight made anger flare in Qin Zelin’s chest.
He decided it was time to correct Cen Miao’s bad habits.
[Qin Zelin] Eat less braised pork. Go buy a serving of vegetables.
Inside the third-floor cafeteria at school, Cen Miao’s mouth was shiny with grease.
When his phone chimed, he casually took it out and glanced at the screen. Then he suddenly straightened his back, tucked in his ears, and looked around warily.
Was… was the human here too?
[miao] Where are you?
[Qin Zelin] At the office.
Cen Miao frowned at the message and scratched his head.
Then how did Qin Zelin know he was eating braised pork?!
Did this human have some kind of superpower?
Could he see Cen Miao even when he wasn’t nearby?
Across from him, Chengcheng watched Cen Miao suddenly stand and asked curiously, “Miaomiao? Why are you getting up?”
“I’m going to buy some vegetables!”
Chengcheng was a little confused.
Had the domineering top scolded him immediately after Chengcheng’s report?
Well…
That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
He had wanted to say for ages that the way Miaomiao ate wasn’t good for his health.
“Mm, go ahead. I’ll wait for you to come back before we keep eating.” As Chengcheng spoke, he picked up his phone.
“Okay.”
Before long, Cen Miao returned unhappily with a small plate of vegetables. His phone quickly chimed again.
[Qin Zelin] The vegetables look good.
With a loud bang, Cen Miao dropped his phone onto the table as though it were a bomb.
“…”
So… so scary.
Qin Zelin wasn’t even beside him, yet he could still see what he was eating.
Would he be able to watch him every day from now on?
On his weekend day off, it was already afternoon by the time the tutor finished the lesson and left.
Cen Miao remembered the short videos he had watched. To be a human wife, he had to cook delicious food for his husband.
His eyes shifted as he began to think.
He had to become a qualified human wife!
He had watched Aunt Wang cook before.
She simply turned on the switch, put the ingredients into the pot, and cooked them.
Cen Miao glanced at the time.
That morning, the human had said he needed to travel to a neighboring city for work and wouldn’t return until around seven.
There were still several hours before the human came home from work.
He could watch more short videos and learn how to make a few more dishes.
He sprawled across the sofa, eating large strawberries as he scrolled through videos. However, the more he watched, the tighter his brows furrowed.
These human wives’ husbands…
Worked even harder than his own husband.
Every one of them came home from work only after their wives had fallen asleep.
If it were Cen Miao, he would already be sleepy and in bed by then.
But their husbands were a little annoying.
Why did they have to knock on the door so loudly?
Bang, bang, bang!
It was so frightening.
And they treated their wives terribly.
The wife worked so hard to prepare dinner, yet the husband complained that it tasted bad and ordered her to make him dumplings instead.
In the video, the man took a bite of the freshly cooked food with a dark expression and impatiently said, “Go make me some dumplings.”
The woman cleared the dishes from the table and skillfully began kneading dough.
As she worked, she said, “He handles matters outside the home, while I manage everything inside. This is what I should do as his wife.”
Cen Miao frowned at the video and complained inwardly.
What a waste.
Although her husband worked very hard, he was still a bad human!
If his own husband acted like the human in the video and said the food Cen Miao had worked hard to prepare tasted awful, Cen Miao would never speak to him again!
Hmph!
A little after five, Cen Miao entered the kitchen.
Seeing Aunt Wang put on an apron and prepare to make dinner, he hurriedly stopped her.
“Aunt Wang, I’m going to cook dinner for Hubby!” Cen Miao declared enthusiastically.
“Does my darling know how to cook?” Aunt Wang asked.
“Mm! I do!” Cen Miao nodded. “I’m making four dishes and one soup for Hubby!”
“Oh my, then Young Master is in for a real treat tonight~ He’ll get to eat food personally prepared by my darling.”
“All the seasonings are in the drawer on the left. I soaked the rice ahead of time, so all you need to do later is press the cook button.”
“Mm! I understand!”
Inside the kitchen, Cen Miao wore a pink apron and stared at the ingredients in the refrigerator, trying hard to remember the videos he had just watched.
This chicken could be used to make chicken soup!
He had drunk Aunt Wang’s chicken soup before!
It was incredibly delicious!
The ribs could become stewed ribs!
This meat could become braised pork!
That was his favorite!
To make braised pork, he needed to caramelize sugar. He had watched Aunt Wang do it before.
…
…
After a long while, Cen Miao finally decided how to cook every ingredient and confidently turned on the stove.
He filled a basin with water and poured it into a pot. Then he grabbed one of the chicken’s legs, lowered the whole chicken into the pot, and covered it with the lid.
“Delicious chicken soup is ready~”
He remembered that the video had done exactly this—put on the lid, then open it again, and it would become the same kind of chicken soup Aunt Wang had made for him!
Next, he would make the braised pork!
