Report! Mimi Is Here to File a Case – CH71

My First Livestream

Chapter 71: My First Livestream

“Yes—I do keep wolves. And not just one.”

Lin Jiangye answered the viewers’ questions in the livestream and brought his two North American gray wolves into frame.

“The bigger one is called Yuheng, and the slightly smaller one is Kaiyang. They’re both males. When I did their health checks, I found they’re littermates—biological brothers from the same den.”

Behind him in the yard lay two gray-black wolves, sprawled lazily in the sun.

Keeping wolves should sound terrifying. But under the warm sunlight, those wolves were just lounging—surrounded by a pile of puppy-sized dogs, with a neat line of chubby gray-and-white little birds curled up on their backs. The scene wasn’t scary at all. It was quiet, harmonious… almost ridiculously cozy.

This livestream happened because of the Forestry Bureau staff’s shocked exclamation back in “Brother Wei’s” stream.

The moment they identified Yuheng as a North American gray wolf—and specifically the largest subspecies, the Michigan tundra wolf—Wei’s livestream went nuclear.

Even the “big shot” who’d left earlier because of Wei’s mouth came storming back, and the screen filled with exclamation marks.

No one expected the “big dog” everyone had been praising for “safety vibes” to actually be a wolf.

I mean… the safety vibe was real. After all, who dares get close to a wolf?

But taming a wolf requires serious ability. Otherwise, the “pet” would turn on you in minutes.

At that moment, Wei looked like he was about to faint.

He didn’t even dare get close to truly aggressive dog breeds, let alone a wolf. Thinking back to how he’d sworn he could “tame that big dog”… honestly, the fact he hadn’t been bitten to death or beaten to death by Advisor Lin meant Lin Jiangye had an absurdly good temper.

The Forestry Bureau staff and the police stood frozen, not daring to step forward.

Lin Jiangye had no choice. Right in front of everyone, he vigorously rubbed Yuheng’s head and explained helplessly, “He’s not a wild wolf. He won’t hurt anyone.”

Wait—not a wild wolf?

The Forestry Bureau staff snapped their heads up and stared at him with bright, sharp eyes.

“Do you have a permit? Where did the wolf come from? Did you buy it?”

North American gray wolves weren’t classified as protected species domestically—mainly because they don’t naturally live on this land. But that didn’t mean you could import and keep them freely.

In response, Bai Zhengwen produced the permit issued by the capital, along with documentation proving Yuheng’s legal origin.

Lin Jiangye basically carried those papers with him at all times, precisely because he expected random inspections.

“Yuheng was rescued. His body isn’t suitable for release back into the wild.”

As he said it, Lin Jiangye’s mood turned complicated.

He loved Yuheng and Kaiyang, and yes—he’d once been tempted to keep them privately. When he first met them, they still had a bit of wildness in their eyes, and that kind of temperament would’ve made them perfect candidates to return to nature.

But animals ruined by the Zhang family weren’t healthy—none of them.

Even Yuheng, who looked strong, carried multiple chronic illnesses. Their lifespan couldn’t compare to a normal wild wolf’s.

Lin Jiangye had found the best vets in the capital. Their conclusion was brutal:

“Even with the best long-term care, they’ll live at most another five years.”

Five years…

Yuheng and Kaiyang were only five now. Five more years meant they might not even make it past ten.

In the wild, their average lifespan is around thirteen years. In captivity, they can reach eighteen—sometimes even twenty.

But these two?

Ten, at most.

Damn the Zhang family.

Once they heard the wolves were rescues, the Forestry Bureau staff’s eyes immediately cleared.

“Oh, like that… then there’s no problem.”

They’d checked the paperwork too. It bore the capital’s official seal. The source was legitimate.

Even so, people still feared Yuheng.

So Lin Jiangye personally handed the three clouded leopard cubs over to the Forestry Bureau staff and said quietly, “These cubs look only two or three months old. Either their mother met with an accident, or something human happened. Interrogate that guy carefully—there might be more to uncover.”

At that age, cubs should still be with their mother.

Wei claimed he “found” them, but without solid proof, suspicion remained.

Before Wei was taken away, he clutched his golden retriever and cried—angry, terrified, and heartbroken all at once.

He was devastated that the golden retriever had “betrayed” him. But he also knew he’d brought it on himself.

If he hadn’t been possessed by greed—if he hadn’t decided to do something dirty—how would he have ended up in handcuffs?

Now he might be going to prison. So what would happen to his golden retriever?

“Let… let me ask a friend—no, no, no… wuwuwu…”

He wanted to find someone to foster the dog, but what if he really got several years? What if the friend abused the dog—or sold it? Even after getting out, he’d have no way to retrieve it.

So his gaze locked onto Lin Jiangye, who was about to leave.

Lin Jiangye: ???

“Wait—you—”

Before Lin Jiangye could refuse, Wei threw himself onto Lin Jiangye’s leg and wailed, “Advisor Lin!!! Please, please save my golden retriever!”

Yes, he was a scumbag.

But he wasn’t some universally hated monster either.

And even if he was—the golden retriever wasn’t at fault. The dog didn’t know anything. It was innocent.

The sudden twist stunned everyone.

Even Jiang Xin and Bai Zhengwen hadn’t expected Wei to entrust his beloved dog to Lin Jiangye—when this whole disaster was triggered by Lin Jiangye exposing him.

But after exchanging a glance, they suddenly understood.

Wei truly loved his golden retriever.

And he knew Lin Jiangye genuinely loved animals.

If Lin Jiangye agreed, the dog would be properly cared for during his sentence.

Lin Jiangye understood that too. He looked at Wei with a complicated expression as Wei continued pleading:

“I’ve raised Naihuangbao for years. I don’t trust anyone else. If I hadn’t been stupid, I wouldn’t be like this—and I wouldn’t have to be separated from Naihuangbao! Please, Advisor Lin. Can you look after him? I can prepay all his living expenses!”

Lin Jiangye wanted nothing to do with him.

But Wei clung like a leech. Even when Yuheng tried to intimidate him, Wei just shook like a quail—yet refused to let go.

Yuheng obviously couldn’t actually bite him. The wolf’s handsome face actually looked… wronged.

The livestream chat laughed themselves to death.

“Wuwuwu!” [Let go of the wolf! Let go!] Yuheng tried to pry Wei off with a paw, but Wei’s wailing drowned out even a wolf’s voice.

Lin Jiangye’s head was buzzing from the noise.

Then the golden retriever latched onto his other leg too.

Master and pet suddenly achieved perfect synchronization.

The most annoying synchronization.

Seeing Wei was about to escalate into endless drama, Lin Jiangye finally gave in.

“Forget the money. Consider it your golden retriever’s ‘reward’ for reporting you.”

Wei froze mid-sob—then burst into tears even harder.

The livestream ended in a chorus of wuwuwu. Even after the screen went black, people were still laughing uncontrollably.

A golden retriever reporting its owner for illegal activity… that was a first.

But after laughing, viewers remembered the wolf Lin Jiangye kept—and the birds that had appeared in the livestream.

“By the way—did anyone else feel that gray bird that pecked Wei looked familiar? Wasn’t that a gyrfalcon?”

“I swear I saw something like America’s national bird…”

“No—America’s national bird is the bald eagle. The one next to Lin Jiangye should be a white-tailed eagle.”

“And here’s the problem: whether it’s a gyrfalcon or a white-tailed eagle, those are nationally protected animals, right? How does he have so many? Don’t tell me they’re all rescues?”

“Right?? What’s going on? Someone check @HaishengForestryBureau.”

After Lin Jiangye got home, Shang Fuyan called him and explained what had blown up online.

“Send me your permits and origin documentation. I’ll post them publicly.” Under an official name.

But Jiang Xin, having overheard, disagreed.

“Why should Wen’an District help? We should build our own account.”

Lin Jiangye was confused, so Jiang Xin explained:

“The wildlife park will need publicity anyway. Since you’re the owner, you can create a personal account. Later, you can occasionally check comments and hear what visitors are saying.”

And beyond that, Jiang Xin wanted to expand Lin Jiangye’s influence. When the zoo opened, they could immediately attract visitors.

A zoo can’t survive on ticket sales alone. Merchandising and cultural tie-ins are where modern zoos make money. If you cultivate “star animals,” you can even do brand collaborations with food and beverage companies.

As for whether they could create star animals—Jiang Xin wasn’t worried.

Lin Jiangye could communicate with animals. Many of them displayed personalities that completely overturned human stereotypes.

Animals that shatter people’s expectations stick in viewers’ minds. With a bit of packaging later, becoming “star animals” would be effortless.

If anything, Jiang Xin worried they might end up with too many star animals.

For example: Yuheng already carried the aura of a star. Who would’ve expected a North American gray wolf to feel so safe?

Protective of its owner, instantly protective of victims, gentle toward smaller animals—so warm and steady.

So after getting home, Jiang Xin suggested Lin Jiangye try livestreaming: test the traffic and also explain the sources of all the protected animals.

Once Lin Jiangye went live, a flood of viewers poured in.

And the first thing they saw?

A sunlit backyard full of animals.

Golden retriever, Tibetan mastiff, gray wolves—sure.

Border collie, German shepherd, native spitz, tabby, tortoiseshell—fine.

But then… a tiger and a lion sleeping while leaning against each other. A lynx rolling around on the grass with a Maine Coon.

…Wait. A Maine Coon and a lynx? Those two are rolling together??

“Hello everyone, I’m Lin Jiangye. I saw all the online doubts about the North American gray wolves, the gyrfalcon, and the white-tailed eagle. But besides those, I also have a Siberian tiger, an Asiatic lion, a lynx, and a cheetah—four protected species.”

Before the chat could explode, Lin Jiangye took out stacks of documents and explained one by one.

“These were all rescues. This is the documentation from the capital’s Forestry Bureau. These are the diagnoses from the vets at the capital’s animal rescue station…”

He paused, and a faint sadness surfaced in his smile.

“Even though they look strong… in reality, none of them will reach average lifespan.”

The tiger’s scars were hidden beneath fur. One of its legs had issues.

The lion was deaf in one ear and had chronic illness.

The lynx had multiple broken bones; according to the vets, it had likely been kicked so hard that broken fragments pierced the lung, leaving it unable to run at full speed.

And the cheetah… it would never grow to normal size—only about two-thirds of a typical cheetah’s body. One eye was already blind.

“They can’t return to the wild, and they can’t hunt independently. I applied through Yue City’s Forestry Bureau so they can stay here. When my animal park is built, they’ll retire there safely.”

[Wait—animal park? What animal park?]

After showing the animals, Lin Jiangye lifted his phone and walked toward the back mountain.

Passing the backyard, Bixi dropped from a tree and obediently perched on his shoulder.

Lin Jiangye tilted his head up, showing the viewers what “a raven’s favoritism” looks like.

As he lifted his chin, Bixi leaned down too—gently rubbing its head against Lin Jiangye’s lips while making soft, gurgling coo sounds.

[Is that… acting cute?]

Lin Jiangye kissed Bixi’s head and calmly confirmed, “Yes. Can’t you tell?”

Everyone could tell. That was exactly why they were jealous to the point of emotional collapse.

How does a raven become this clingy?!

While the chat was collectively “breaking,” Lin Jiangye suddenly felt something tugging his clothes. He turned his head.

It was Tianquan the cheetah.

“Meow!” [Human! Play with me!]

Seeing a cheetah sit neatly with a paw on a ball, many viewers suspected hallucinations.

“Let me introduce you—this is Tianquan, the cheetah.”

Lin Jiangye rubbed Tianquan’s head until it meowed nonstop.

[Do cheetahs… sound like that?]

“Yes. Cheetahs are basically big cats,” Lin Jiangye said. “But even so, their attack power is still far above a cat’s. If you ever see a wild cheetah, don’t reach out and pet it like I do.”

The chat nearly suffered collective heart failure.

They wanted to pet one too! But they couldn’t! Not even close!

And then came the most envy-inducing part:

Lin Jiangye throwing the ball, Tianquan sprinting after it—human and cheetah playing like crazy.

[Are you sure that’s a cheetah and not a dog??]

Soon other big animals joined in.

The tiger let out an “aowu” and pounced onto the cheetah.

The lion seized the ball—only to have the two gray wolves team up and snatch it away.

The lynx tried to block, but the German shepherd and border collie locked down its route.

Then the birds joined.

The gyrfalcon dove at frightening speed and stole the ball from the wolf’s mouth—only to be immediately pinned by the tabby, who launched from the “Tibetan mastiff’s” head, with the tortoiseshell assisting via sheer weight.

The white-tailed eagle tried to rescue the bird… but the tiger and lion blocked its line of sight.

The three ravens didn’t even make it in before they were pinned by a grown native spitz, the golden retriever, and the Maine Coon.

“Match over! Cats win!” Lin Jiangye declared as referee, then lifted the tabby and tortoiseshell—with the ball—high into the air.

Jiang Xin held the phone, giving the chat a clear view.

The two cats looked dazed, like they didn’t even know the match had started, yet that didn’t stop them from lifting fluffy heads in triumph, gazing down with proud superiority.

[We won!]

As the tabby meowed smugly, Jiang Xin glanced at the chat and saw it flooding with:

[Holy Flame Meow-Meow, Holy Flame Shining-Shining—disciples, meow meow meow meow!]

Jiang Xin’s mouth twitched. Then he laughed softly.

“I told you. This zoo won’t lose money.”

They could scale this activity up—run it once every three days—and people would absolutely pay to watch it live.

They’d probably show up waving banners cheering for their favorite animal.

Would the animals cooperate?

Just look at them—playing their hearts out. Of course they would.

After the game, Mimi was surrounded by Yuheng and Kaiyang, grumbling nonstop about how, as a canine, it somehow ended up helping Zang’ao win the ball.

Mimi said nothing—just kept grinning, looking utterly simple-minded.

Meanwhile, the native spitz and the Maine Coon licked each other’s fur like comrades.

Naihuangbao tried to play with Opal and got thoroughly bullied by the little crow.

Lin Jiangye hugged Zang’ao and Gaojiasuo, took his phone back from Jiang Xin, and aimed the camera at the mountainside where construction was underway.

“Look. This is where the wildlife park will be.”

In the camera’s view was a lush forested mountain range.

After leasing the mountains, Lin Jiangye didn’t plan to bulldoze everything flat. He intended to design multiple zones based on terrain.

For example, the tiger zone could be cleared into a broad open area. But for a monkey zone or bird zone, they’d keep lots of trees.

Conveniently, a branch of Yue City’s Tongji River flowed along the edge of the mountains, and Lin Jiangye planned to use this living water source to run through all zones.

Animals need water—for drinking, bathing, and play. Every zone needed clean water.

And above the river, he’d installed water-quality monitoring stations that checked the stream daily.

Once viewers heard he was building a zoo, curiosity spiked.

If it were anyone else, people might shrug—there are zoos everywhere.

But if it was Lin Jiangye… it felt different.

[If you can understand them, then when they’re sick or uncomfortable, you’ll know right away… right?]

Lin Jiangye nodded firmly. “Of course.”

Once the zoo opened, he could do surprise rounds and instantly know whether keepers were doing their jobs properly.

“More than that—every animal has preferences. Some like living in groups, some prefer being alone. Some love water, some hate it. I’ll arrange everything according to what they need.”

“As for toys—depends on what they like. Like today: you didn’t expect a cheetah to love playing with a ball, did you?”

He returned to the courtyard, chatting casually with viewers while basking in the warm sun with his animals.

The scene was gentle and cozy—until it was abruptly interrupted by frantic bird chatter.

“Human! Help! Mimi’s home got robbed!”

Lin Jiangye paused. The moment he looked up, a familiar gray parrot shot toward him.

Thud.

Human and bird collided hard, startling the Devon Rex behind them into instant puffball mode.

“Ow… that hurt.” Lin Jiangye rubbed his forehead. “Why is your skull so hard?”

Before he could recover, the parrot latched onto him and screamed, “Human! Do you remember me?!”

“Yes, yes—of course I remember!” Lin Jiangye begged, “Just… please stop shouting!”

Once it confirmed Lin Jiangye remembered, the gray parrot flew off him and landed beside the Devon Rex.

“Human! This Mimi’s home got robbed! It needs your help!”

The curly-coated Devon Rex slowly stepped out from behind the parrot, trembling as it spoke:

[Human… please… save Mimi and Mimi’s human, QAQ!]

[A terrifying human came to Mimi’s home. Mimi is really scared. Mimi wanted to tell my owner, but my owner doesn’t believe me, QAQ.]

Seeing the Devon Rex on the verge of tears, Lin Jiangye’s heart immediately softened. “Alright, alright—don’t cry. I’ll go with you right now and catch that thief, okay?”

The Devon Rex lit up the moment the young man agreed. It hugged his hand and rubbed against it hard.

It hoped that by doing this, its owner would be very, very happy. And it also hoped this human would be a little happier too.

“Okay, I might have a case on my hands, so I won’t continue the livestream. Bye!” Lin Jiangye said, then ended the stream on the spot and called Shang Fuyan.

“Captain Shang—work just came in.”

Report! Mimi Is Here to File a Case / Human! Someone in My House Is Dead—Are You Going to Handle It or Not?

Five years ago, Lin Jiangye was caught in an accident and nearly lost his life.

On the brink of death, he was bound to a system and transported to another world.

Five years later, after completing his missions, Lin Jiangye returned to the real world with a subsidy worth tens of billions.

Just as he was ready to embrace a laid-back, money-in-hand lifestyle, he was jolted awake on the very day he moved into his villa by a series of shrill, desperate meows.

[Help! Is there any cat out there?! Help! My human is dying!]

Wait—why did his ability come back with him too? Could this be the so-called “post-transmigration side effect” the system mentioned?

Climbing over the neighbor’s wall and following the cries, he found a man lying in a pool of blood, barely breathing.

And beside him, a tabby cat screaming at the top of its lungs.

Mistaken as the prime suspect, Lin Jiangye was taken to the police station. The captain of the Criminal Investigation Division—broad-shouldered, slim-waisted, long-legged—questioned him:

“How did you know your neighbor was attacked?”

Lin Jiangye fell silent. He couldn’t possibly say that he understood the little tabby’s cry for help, could he?

He thought it was just a one-time incident. However…

A crow flew over to complain that someone had stuffed a human finger into its nest.

A retired police dog came to tell him it had discovered a human trafficking den.

A white deer fawn ran up to inform him that there were many human corpses in the forest.

Wait—how did you, a little fawn, manage to run here from hundreds of kilometers away?

Recently, the Criminal Investigation Brigade of Yue City’s Public Security Bureau has been spinning like a top. Major cases one after another—but second-class merits? Secured! Bonuses? Secured! Promotions? Also secured!

And all of it is thanks to one person!

Lin Jiangye is officially recruited into the police force. Commanding various small animals to gather clues, he helps the bureau crack cases at lightning speed.

He quickly becomes famous. Everyone knows he possesses a special method of solving cases—so long as he’s around, no case is unsolvable!

Invitations pour in from neighboring cities’ police departments, from the capital’s Public Security Bureau, even from Interpol.

Wait, why is the Forestry Bureau getting involved too?

Seeing his prized subordinate being eyed by all sides, Shang Fuyan—now promoted to Chief of the Criminal Investigation Corps—can no longer sit still.

That evening, wrapped in nothing but a bath towel, he knocks on the door of the guest bedroom.

“I have something to discuss with you tonight. It may take all night.”

Opening the door and nearly dazzled by sculpted chest and abs, Lin Jiangye, lightheaded, lets him in just like that.

Reading Guide

  1. This is purely fictional, set in an alternate modern world. Some settings differ from reality for the sake of the plot.

  2. The protagonist’s golden finger is extremely overpowered—basically cheating-level. Expect exaggeration; if you can’t accept that, please step back now.

  3. A brainless feel-good novel. The author claims no great literary skills. Feel free to criticize the writing, but no personal attacks. Comments won’t be deleted—if one disappears, it definitely wasn’t me.
