Chapter 77: Transmigrated as a Fraudulent Male Streamer (1)
Abruptly extracted from the small world, a deluge of information instantly flooded Cen Yu’s mind.
He sat in the blank, empty room… staring at the fat cat with a complicated expression.
“…So my name really is Cen Yu, and the Cen Yu in that world looks exactly like me?”
What flooded into his mind were fragments of memories concerning himself.
The Cen Yu in that small world was an exact copy of his true self—though only in terms of appearance and personality. As for other details, he still couldn’t recall them.
He felt as though he were trapped in a labyrinth of memories, having only managed to retrieve a single piece of his past so far.
The fat cat leaped onto Cen Yu’s lap and let out a meow—
“Host’s soul is still far too fragile!” It meowed on Cen Yu’s knees. “The more tasks you complete, the more soul fragments you can collect, until you can finally leave this quick-transmigration world.”
Stroking the cat, Cen Yu carefully observed his surroundings.
In truth, he hadn’t received any training whatsoever before entering the first small world. He had simply opened his eyes in this white room, whereupon the fat cat appeared and told him that due to certain reasons, he had fallen into a deep sleep and had to travel through various worlds, complete tasks, and retrieve his soul fragments.
The more tasks he completed, the more his memories would gradually return.
He gently petted the fat cat’s head. “What’s the next task?”
The fat cat looked up at Cen Yu. “Does Host want to see what happened in the small world after you left?”
Cen Yu looked at the fat cat as if it were out of its mind. “Do I look insane?”
He stood up and set the cat down on the floor, though his mind flashed with the memory of Yu Xinyu’s restless face while asleep…
He knew he was the type who couldn’t handle melodramatic scenes of tearful, life-and-death farewells, which was why he had taken off first.
“What’s the next world?”
Muttering about Cen Yu’s lack of patience, the fat cat inquired, “You have two choices next: one is a short horror novel, and the other is a boy-group harem all-in popularity novel.” The fat cat asked Cen Yu, “Which one does Host want to go to?”
“…The horror novel.”
Without a second thought, Cen Yu chose the horror novel. He was utterly done with those harem all-in stories!
[What’s up with dog Cen? Is he scared silly or why isn’t he moving?!]
[Brothers, gift dog Cen some big gifts, or else the guy won’t even put on a show!]
The moment Cen Yu entered the small world, he sensed something was off… He was holding a smartphone on a gimbal, currently in the middle of a live stream, with the bullet chat continuously refreshing.
He noticed he had even set up a paid voting option—
[There’s a haunted house up ahead, brothers, do we charge in or what?!]
Before Cen Yu could figure out what role he was supposed to play in this round, he saw a mysterious viewer in the live stream dropping a flurry of high-tier gifts—from carnivals to luxury yachts and villas—single-handedly maxing out the progress bar for the “Charge In” option.
“…” Cen Yu stared at that user ID with a subtle expression.
“…Thanks, brother Little Yu.”
Presumably, the system had finally finished loading this segment of the plot, as Cen Yu spotted a tiny set of parentheses appended to the end of the short horror novel’s label:
Short Horror Novel (BL Channel).
Fuck! In the end, he was still going to end up in a BL story!
It was currently the initial phase of the plot, and the protagonist shou had yet to make an appearance.
The official storyline wouldn’t kick off until tomorrow evening. The protagonist shou, Pei Hengyun, would receive an invitation from his former class monitor asking him to return to his small hometown for a class reunion. Having been away for years, the protagonist shou invited his boyfriend, an exploration streamer named Cen Yu, to come along to his hometown.
Hearing that it was a mysterious, undeveloped mountain village, Cen Yu agreed to accompany Pei Hengyun back to his hometown.
Little did he expect to run into all kinds of strange occurrences, alongside three of Pei Hengyun’s old classmates.
“…So after this guy found out the place was haunted, he ran away?” Having finished reading the plot outline, Cen Yu murmured to the system in his mind.
For a moment, Cen Yu couldn’t even tell who was lower—the scumbag in this book or the phoenix man from the last world?!
After discovering the house was haunted, this Cen Yu not only fled, but even locked the protagonist shou inside the room from the outside just to save his own skin.
Precisely because of this, the three classmates and the protagonist shou, Pei Hengyun, were able to develop their subsequent romance and plot progression.
As for the scumbag Cen Yu, he was directly killed off by plot armor.
“…That simple?” Cen Yu glanced over the plot, unable to believe his role was so brief.
As long as he tricked the protagonist shou into the room and snuck off alone when the hauntings started, he could just wait for the plot-mandated death to complete the task?!
While Cen Yu was still verifying the original plot with the system in his mind, the big-spending viewer Little Yu in the live chat had already sent a new message—
[Go into the haunted house.]
The bullet chat was instantly flooded with this sentence. Cen Yu threw a glance at the haunted house before him… The place was a villa built 30 years ago. On the very first night the original owner moved in, he heard strange noises.
Then, the family’s dog and cat both inexplicably turned up dead in the backyard.
Following that, objects in the house began constantly shifting positions on their own, right when the owner was preparing to pack up and leave.
By the time nearby residents noticed something was off, all five members of the owner’s family had hanged themselves in the first-floor living room.
Over the 30 years it stood as a haunted house, its dirt-cheap price attracted various people looking to buy it for residential use, resulting in three similar cases of owners hanging themselves over a span of 20 years.
Consequently, during the subsequent 10 years, the property was purchased and run as a youth hostel, as well as utilized for other commercial purposes, but every guest who stayed over claimed to have seen a severed, hanging head in the middle of the night.
As time went on, the villa fell into complete abandonment.
It had also become a wildly popular spot for outdoor exploration streamers looking to court danger for viral traffic.
Cen Yu glanced at the villa in front of him… Without hesitation, he pushed open the rickety front door, stepping inside while holding up his phone. With a flashlight in one hand, he used his phone to film the surrounding environment.
The entire villa spanned three floors with low ceilings, creating an utterly oppressive ambiance.
…He recalled the original book mentioning that the entire family had hanged themselves in the living room.
Cen Yu shone the flashlight directly toward the living room area.
It was at this moment that the viewers in the live stream noticed a blurry human silhouette appearing behind the shattered glass of the living room.
By now, neither the viewers in the stream nor Cen Yu dared to breathe heavily. Holding the flashlight in one hand and the phone in the other, Cen Yu slowly crept toward the human silhouette…
The next instant, the viewers in the stream saw the camera frame turn into a blurry mess.
As if encountering something utterly horrifying, Cen Yu’s camera angle began spinning wildly out of control.
“Holy crap! Holy crap!”
Cen Yu’s frantic yells echoed continuously in the stream, followed by the lens panning sharply toward that swaying figure in the living room.
There, hanging from a ceiling beam, was a figure swaying back and forth, staring fixedly at the camera lens… before the live stream abruptly cut off right then and there!
Cen Yu cut the live stream and looked over at the swaying figure over there. “Hey, quit messing around.”
To boost the stream’s impact, the Cen Yu from the original novel had specially sent his assistant into the living room beforehand to place a dummy here.
The villa had no electricity at night, and the phone’s live camera wasn’t sharp either. With a few erratic shakes of the camera followed by an immediate stream shutdown, no viewer would likely tell it was a dummy. He got his viral stream effect, and he got his money.
Yet no matter how much he called out, his assistant offered no response whatsoever.
Cen Yu felt a bit strange, but walked over anyway… However, as he picked his way past the clutter to reach the hanging person’s side, he discovered his assistant collapsed unconscious on the floor, his face deathly pale as if he had witnessed something utterly terrifying.
“?” Cen Yu frowned.
Glancing at the window glass, he noticed lines of bloody text mysteriously manifesting along the jagged edges of the broken pane—
[Cen Yu]
[Cen Yu]
[I am so sad]
The bloody text materialized out of thin air… and a pair of ice-cold hands appeared on his neck, as though attempting to strangle him to death.
Cen Yu let out a soft scoff, pulled a pouch of black dog’s blood from his jacket, and splashed it backward over his shoulder.
“Don’t play ghost tricks on me.”
“I don’t believe in this crap.”
