Chapter 67: Transmigrated as a Stingy Phoenix Man (67)
Cen Yu walked up the stairs to the second floor. A staff member from the production team mentioned that they had originally planned to keep the cameras in the rooms running for a while tonight, but considering what had happened earlier that evening, they would have to revisit the idea tomorrow instead.
However, they still hoped he could help turn on the camera when he woke up so they could capture a wake-up scene.
Cen Yu didn’t find it much of a hassle. After stepping into his room, he caught the faint sound of a voice speaking.
Following the sound with his eyes, he spotted Yu Jinheng out on the balcony, on the phone.
Sharing the same balcony, Yu Jinheng leaned against its outer edge, seemingly discussing something with the person on the other end of the line. At a particularly intense moment, he couldn’t hold back a few soft coughs. He suppressed them with a bit of effort, let out a sigh, and hung up the call.
The balcony door was shut, so Cen Yu couldn’t hear what Yu Jinheng was saying.
Then again, even if he could hear it clearly, he had zero interest.
Having finished his call, Yu Jinheng seemed to notice Cen Yu’s return. Hanging up his phone, he stepped off the balcony—the door between their two rooms wasn’t closed, giving Cen Yu a front-row view of Yu Jinheng walking back inside.
The man had evidently freshened up already, wearing silk pajamas underneath a familiar light-colored cardigan.
The oat-colored knit sweater draped over him, paired with the ink-black pajamas, made him look as though he were composed of only two colors: a soft, muted oatmeal and a deep, ink-like black.
Yu Jinheng was a walking contradiction through and through. Standing beside the door that cleaved their two spaces apart, he addressed Cen Yu: “If you want to take a shower, the bathroom is empty now.”
Empty, my ass—aren’t you literally standing right here?
Cen Yu grumbled inwardly, feeling that Yu Jinheng was talking absolute nonsense, but he still rummaged through his suitcase for a change of clothes anyway.
He hadn’t brought a bathrobe, and considering the filming requirements, he had only packed T-shirts and beach shorts to serve as sleepwear.
Rolling his clothes into a bundle, he held them in hand and prepared to head into the bathroom.
Yu Jinheng, seemingly having no intention of paying him further mind, had already returned to the reading chair in his room and switched on the lamp beside it.
He casually picked up a book he had read before, opened it, and watched Cen Yu enter the bathroom.
Only then did he avert his gaze.
Cen Yu hadn’t expected the bath products in this villa to be identical to the ones at his own house.
The entire bathroom was extraordinarily spacious… He looked down at the bandaged wound on his knee and raised an eyebrow; to be honest, he felt everyone was making a mountain out of a molehill.
Still, knowing that it had been properly wrapped, he should naturally keep it away from water if possible.
So he pushed open the bathroom door and tapped against the wall a few times, drawing the attention of Yu Jinheng, who was reading nearby.
Once the man looked over, Cen Yu finally spoke up, “Could you get me some plastic wrap?”
“Plastic wrap?” Yu Jinheng didn’t seem to get his meaning. “What do you need plastic wrap for?”
Cen Yu pointed at his own leg. “This just got bandaged—it’s not supposed to get wet, right?” He mimed a wrapping motion. “I’ll just bind it with plastic wrap.”
Yu Jinheng’s gaze shifted to his knee.
Cen Yu had already taken off his shirt, leaving only the swim trunks he had worn earlier today. The patches stuck to his body hadn’t been peeled off yet, which, combined with the bandaged wound on his knee, made him look rather pathetic.
Yu Jinheng lowered his head back to the book in his hand. “No need.”
“The doctor is still here. He can just change it for you later.”
He spoke with nonchalance, as if Cen Yu’s problem were utterly insignificant.
Leaning against the bathroom door frame, Cen Yu probed, “The doctor didn’t leave?”
“A room was reserved for him here.” Yu Jinheng didn’t look up. “If there’s something you want to ask, feel free to just say it.”
Cen Yu clicked his tongue, not expecting Yu Jinheng to be so sharp. He cut straight to the chase, “So, this villa belongs to you?”
He stared at Yu Jinheng. “The ‘big boss sponsor’ the production team mentioned… is you?”
“Yes.” Yu Jinheng didn’t deny it.
Cen Yu mulled it over. Looking at the door separating the two rooms, he finally understood Yu Jinheng’s painstaking efforts—
Just to keep him from sharing a room with anyone else, the man had specially arranged this luxury villa.
If it were the “cozy little home” from the original novel, Cen Yu would have ended up sleeping in the same room as someone else regardless of how the room draw went.
Now that the mystery was solved, Cen Yu had no intention of probing any further—
Either way, as long as Yu Jinheng was willing to provide a grand villa that made his stay more comfortable, he was happy. With that thought, he closed the door directly, preparing to shower.
Just as Cen Yu was debating whether he should peel off the patches, the fat cat suddenly piped up inside his head:
[Host!]
[Someone online is slandering you!]
“Where? Where?” Cen Yu instantly perked up with excitement.
The System immediately forwarded several forum threads to Cen Yu’s phone, which he opened and scrolled through.
The early posts seemed fairly normal, until one reply began to turn sour—
[Is it just me overthinking? This Cen Yu is supposed to be a regular office employee, yet his clothes are all designer brands.]
[…Give me a break, OP! Can’t a guy just have some spare cash?! Besides, wouldn’t anyone wear something nice for a TV show?!]
[Stop arguing! I say Sang Qianshan bought them for his wife!]
[LOL at people claiming Cen Yu might come from a wealthy family—you definitely don’t know what he was like in college, right?]
That newly registered alt account kept steering the narrative.
[If he weren’t broke, how could he possibly have worked as a model for Sang Qianshan?]
[Besides, back when Cen Yu was in school, he was constantly working shifts shaking boba tea…]
Following that reply, the account even posted a photo.
In the picture, Cen Yu could be seen taking an order from a customer with a completely expressionless face.
The comment section below immediately descended into chaos again, with everyone calling him “wife” and asking if someone could write a fanfic about a top star and a boba tea worker!
Seeing that the drama wasn’t catching on, the alt account seemed to lose patience and went straight for a nuclear drop—
[I’ll just lay it out straight! The only reason Cen Yu can wear designer brands now and look like he’s living the good life is that he has a rich boyfriend!]
[It’s honestly laughable watching you guys ship him with Sang Qianshan… Do you really not know he has a boyfriend?!]
The moment those words dropped, the entire forum thread erupted into mayhem.
Someone even took screenshots of all this user’s posts to start a separate thread, which was promptly picked up and amplified by marketing accounts.
Leaning against the sink, Cen Yu savored the hate posts targeting him alongside the fat cat, before casually registering an alt account to jump into the fray himself—
[If you ask me! This Cen Yu guy is just a morally bankrupt, stingy phoenix man! I advise you all to stop standing up for him!]
