Chapter 65: Transmigrated as a Stingy Phoenix Man (65)
Following the call to the police and the arrival of authorities, no one was in the mood to continue the seaside BBQ.
Fortunately, the contents of the man’s bottle weren’t toxic, though… it certainly hadn’t been anything good either.
As the police hauled the man away, he kept screaming at the top of his lungs, “Pei Zhuo, you’re mine… you’re mine…”
“Why were you talking to those people?! Why were you smiling at them?!”
Pei Zhuo clutched his fists. If he hadn’t been a public figure, he would have charged forward right then and there to beat the guy to a pulp.
Judging by the familiar voice, the intruder was none other than the obsessed fan who had been stalking and harassing him. No one had expected the man to follow him all the way to the filming location—and even more outrageously, the production team hadn’t even noticed someone sneaking onto the set.
Upon learning about the incident, Pei Zhuo’s agent and agency were beside themselves with rage.
They demanded to know how the crew could let a stranger slip in, only to discover the man had been brought in as temporary help due to a short-handed crew. Since he was only assigned basic heavy lifting, no one had realized he was actually a deranged stalker.
Cen Yu sat on a beach chair.
Sang Qianshan grabbed a bottle of mineral water and squatted silently in front of him.
Because small scrapes on Cen Yu’s knees were oozing blood and coated in sand, Sang Qianshan had urgently sent his assistant to fetch water. He now squatted before Cen Yu, intent on washing the sand from his knees.
The moment the ice-cold water hit the scrapes, Cen Yu gave an involuntary shudder.
Sang Qianshan instantly froze, looking up at him with utter care. “Does it hurt that badly?”
Cen Yu chuckled. “Brother, if you wait any longer, the wound’s going to heal on its own.” He patted Sang Qianshan’s shoulder. “The water’s just a bit cold.”
The water hadn’t come out of a fridge, so how could it be cold? Besides, the temperature by the beach wasn’t low by any means.
Sang Qianshan didn’t call him out, opting instead to meticulously rinse the scrapes.
Once the sand was washed clean, he realized Cen Yu’s knee hadn’t just suffered a simple scrape. Kneeling violently into the sand earlier had stripped away a whole layer of skin.
And that was to say nothing of the surrounding bruises.
Sang Qianshan handled him with extreme delicacy.
Cen Yu couldn’t stand it—was the guy treating him like a fragile porcelain doll? He was a tough guy made of solid steel.
Snatching the bottle from Sang Qianshan’s hand, he poured the rest of the water straight over his own wounds, rinsing them thoroughly in one go. He then tossed the empty bottle back to Sang Qianshan. “There, all done.”
With that, he made to stand up from the beach chair.
“Be careful!” Sang Qianshan instantly panicked, supporting Cen Yu’s arm.
“…I’m not broken into pieces, so stop acting like I’m made of glass.”
Cen Yu was about to shake off Sang Qianshan’s hand, but seeing how genuinely concerned the man was, he reined in his frustration and said helplessly, “I’m really fine.”
Just as they spoke, Yu Jinheng walked over.
Following right behind him was a very familiar figure.
Cen Yu took one look and recognized him—wasn’t this Yu Jinheng’s family doctor, the one he had met back when he hitched a ride in their car?
He brought the doctor along, too?
The doctor had clearly brought his medical kit along. Making Cen Yu sit properly, he sanitized the injured leg before wrapping it neatly in bandages.
For once, Sang Qianshan didn’t look at Yu Jinheng with annoyance.
He simply stared at Cen Yu’s bandaged knee, then turned to Yu Jinheng. “Thanks.”
Yu Jinheng actually let out a quiet laugh at those words. “No need to thank me.”
“He’s Little Yu’s partner, so there’s no need to thank me.”
Hearing this, Sang Qianshan knew Yu Jinheng was intentionally asserting his sovereignty—even a younger brother’s sovereignty counted as sovereignty.
If his feelings had still been somewhat hazy before, everything had become crystal clear now.
He looked at Yu Jinheng without offering an argument. Wrinkling his brow, he seemed to be contemplating something deeply, while Yu Jinheng merely watched him in silence.
Finally, Sang Qianshan let out a long breath. “I know.”
“I know he’s Yu Xinyu’s… lover.”
Cen Yu had no idea that the live broadcast feed—which the production crew hadn’t managed to cut in time—had already caused a massive storm online.
Every viewer had watched Cen Yu eating BBQ, only to suddenly drop his paper plate and sprint out of the frame. The next moment, he violently yanked Pei Zhuo back. Just as people were preparing to blast Cen Yu for lacking basic manners, they saw him kick a bottle right out of a black-clad man’s hand.
Right after that, he pinned the intruder securely to the ground.
The whole sequence was remarkably fluid and seamless. The camera crew’s lens had instinctively tracked the guest’s movements, so by the time they realized something was wrong and tried to cut the feed, the entire scene had already been broadcast live.
Weibo practically exploded.
Everyone was speculating about the identity of the black-clad man who had suddenly lunged out.
And as for the bottle that had been kicked away… all sorts of terrifying theories flooded people’s minds.
Fortunately, Pei Zhuo’s studio released a statement right away, explaining that everything was pending police investigation while subtly hinting at the intruder’s identity—the very “unidentified stalker” Pei Zhuo’s team had issued multiple public warnings about in the past.
Countless users flooded the Weibo comment sections of Pei Zhuo, Sang Qianshan, and the production team, demanding to know what had happened afterward.
After all, Cen Yu didn’t have a Weibo account.
In the end, Sang Qianshan posted a photo of Cen Yu flashing a peace sign at the camera, letting everyone know he was completely fine and there was no need to worry.
At the same time, the sentiment in certain online groups completely flipped—
Shifting overnight from “Our sister-in-law sure has a massive appetite” to “PZ, SQS! I share the same sky with you as an enemy! Give me back my wife, give me back my wife!!”
“…My fellow husbands, who gets it? My wife is so hot!”
“Does anyone with connections know what my wife’s tattoo actually is?! I’m so curious, ahhh! I want to see my wife’s tattoo!”
Cen Yu, naturally, remained oblivious to all of this.
His phone was practically blowing up; not only were several colleagues reaching out to express their concern, but Lou Baichuan had also sent a voice message asking how he was doing.
On top of that, Yu Xinyu had made countless missed video calls.
Seeing Yu Xinyu calling once again, Cen Yu gestured to the others that he was stepping away for a moment.
Holding his phone, he walked down to the edge of the beach.
The tide was slowly creeping inland. Cen Yu walked a few steps forward to put some distance between himself and the crew, taking in the gentle ebb and flow of the ocean water before finally accepting Yu Xinyu’s video call.
On the screen, Yu Xinyu’s face was impossible to see clearly.
Just like his own side, it was pitch black.
“Why is it so dark?” Cen Yu asked, holding up his phone while stepping in the ocean water.
Yu Xinyu remained silent, though his breathing sounded rather heavy and ragged. Just as Cen Yu was about to ask why he wasn’t speaking, Yu Xinyu’s voice suddenly cut through the video—
“Turn around.”
Simultaneously, the exact same voice echoed from outside the phone.
Stepping in the water, Cen Yu instinctively turned his head, catching sight of Yu Xinyu standing there out of breath, phone in hand.
He looked as though he had sprinted all the way here. The moment he spotted Cen Yu, he didn’t utter a single word, charging forward to wrap his arms tightly around him—
He pulled Cen Yu’s body into a fierce embrace, trying his best to calm his ragged breathing and soothe his pounding heart, which had nearly leapt out of his throat when he watched the live stream earlier.
“…Thank goodness you’re okay.”
After a long moment, Yu Xinyu finally spoke, his voice still laced with uneven gasps.
