Chapter 38: Transmigrated as a Cheapskate Phoenix Man (38)
Cen Yu returned to the bedroom, and at the sight of that double bed, his eyes went dark—
He had almost forgotten there was still a major hurdle here.
Playing dead, he lay flat on the bed, pondering how to get through this segment of the plot. Yet Yu Xinyu failed to grasp his noble intentions entirely, flashing him a smile upon returning to the bedroom. “I’m going to take a bath now.”
He looked at Cen Yu, who was lying on the bed like a dead dog. “You’re probably a bit tired after riding in the car all morning anyway, so get some sleep first.”
“No!” Hearing this, Cen Yu instantly transformed from a dead dog to someone injected with chicken blood.
He desperately wanted to leap straight up from the bed.
He looked at Yu Xinyu, thought for a moment, and suddenly felt a lightbulb snap on inside his head with a bright ching.
“Lou Baichuan just contacted me about something—said he got a computer and wants me to pop over and take a look.”
He let out a dry laugh at Yu Xinyu. “You go ahead and sleep, don’t wait up for me. I’ll be back as soon as I wrap up work.”
Without waiting for Yu Xinyu to respond, he scrambled out of the bedroom in a flash.
Standing inside the bedroom, Yu Xinyu watched his retreating back—even though he knew Cen Yu would definitely run, seeing it happen still inevitably sparked a wave of displeasure in his heart.
He stood there, letting the bad mood fester and build. Only after several minutes passed did he slowly walk over to the bedside nightstand and unlock his phone.
Cen Yu sprinted away from their courtyard before realizing he hadn’t even asked where Lou Baichuan was staying, so he immediately fired off a message to Lou Baichuan—
[Cen Yu: Brother Chuan, did you manage to buy a computer?]
[Lou Baichuan: Mm.]
[Cen Yu: That’s awesome! I was just thinking, I’d feel uneasy if I didn’t handle this myself… Tell me your room number and I’ll drop by to see how to revise it.]
[Lou Baichuan initiated a location share]
Taking a look at the location sent by Lou Baichuan, Cen Yu realized the villa wasn’t too far from where they were staying. Too lazy to call for a butler, he simply decided to follow the navigation and amble over on foot.
Following a small path shrouded by trees, he ambled casually forward, only to somehow wander over to an outdoor hot spring pool.
“…” Cen Yu.
He halted in his tracks immediately.
Scanning his surroundings vigilantly, he decided to turn back right away—
Heh, what a joke! When a location like this pops up in a novel, it’s begging for plot drama to go down!
Just as he was about to turn around, someone snatched his phone right out of his hand in the very next second. Before he could even get a clear look at who it was, his arm was grabbed firm—
“Brother Pei.”
Cen Yu cursed under his breath, taking a look at the guy holding him.
Dressed in a black polo shirt and black pants, he looked pretty burly with an unremarkable face, staring at him with unkind eyes while speaking toward the private hot spring pool.
Couldn’t be a bodyguard or something, right?
Before Cen Yu could figure it out, a voice sounded behind him—
“If you keep harassing me like this, I’ll have no choice but to call the police.”
The voice sounded somewhat familiar, as though he had heard it not too long ago… Cen Yu thought to himself no way, right?, then turned his head to see a man emerging behind him, wrapped in a bathrobe—
It was actually Pei Zhuo, the exact guy he had just seen on TV.
The expression he wore as he looked at Cen Yu lacked every bit of his refined, noble air from the screen, his eyes filled entirely with disgust.
Disgust?!
Cen Yu instantly felt like someone walking along minding his own business, only to get bitten by a mad dog.
“You’ve been stalking me and planning to take secret photos. If you keep this up, I’ll have to send you straight to the station to rot.”
“No…” Cen Yu was just about to say he didn’t know the guy at all!
He had zero intention of stalking him either; it was purely a coincidence.
Yet the bodyguard had no intention of listening to him at all, seemingly convinced his phone held hidden secret photos. Raising the phone, he made to slam it down onto the ground—
“Fuck!”
Cen Yu swore loudly, snatching his phone back instantly.
The bodyguard hadn’t expected this “sasaeng stalker” to be so arrogant. Temper flaring, he grabbed Cen Yu’s shoulder, balling his fist to hurl a punch straight at him.
Cen Yu had originally wanted to talk things through politely, but now his temper flared up as well. When it came to non-plot characters, he never coddled them—after all, there was no such thing as going out of character against non-plot characters!
As the bodyguard swung his fist over, Cen Yu simply tilted his head, dodging the attack.
In the next second, he offered the bodyguard a cold smile, crooking his finger—
“Come at me.”
The moment the bodyguard struck again, Cen Yu leaped directly into the air.
Clamping both hands down on the bodyguard’s neck, he raised his knee at the same time, driving a rapid succession of powerful knees straight into the man’s chest.
Then, pulling back quickly to create distance, he delivered a sidekick that sent the guy flying straight into the nearby bushes… Having finished beating up the bodyguard, he turned around at a leisurely pace to look at Pei Zhuo.
“Dumbass,” Cen Yu smiled at Pei Zhuo. “Go die.”
Pei Zhuo clearly hadn’t expected the bodyguard he brought along to be taken down by the other party in an instant… Yet Cen Yu’s unyielding attitude made him realize right away that he had likely misunderstood something.
Before long, Cen Yu’s phone rang.
Unlocking it, he found a call from Lou Baichuan—
He answered directly on speakerphone.
“Where are you? Lost?” Lou Baichuan asked over the line, seemingly puzzled as to why Cen Yu hadn’t reached his villa yet.
“Heh, got bitten by a dog,” Cen Yu said, staring at Pei Zhuo.
“A dog?” Lou Baichuan sounded somewhat surprised, asking hurriedly, “Where are you? I’ll come over right away. You might need a rabies shot.”
“Heh, don’t think that’ll be necessary,” Cen Yu sneered sarcastically at Pei Zhuo. “Looks like a valuable, fine breed of dog. The owner just raised it terribly—zero manners, loves biting people randomly.”
“…” Now even Lou Baichuan could pick up on the sarcastic, scolding tone in Cen Yu’s voice.
Pondering for a moment, he eventually said to Cen Yu, “Don’t turn off location sharing. I’ll be right over.”
Hanging up on Lou Baichuan, Cen Yu stared silently at Pei Zhuo.
At this point, no matter how foolish Pei Zhuo was, he could tell he had misunderstood something—not to mention he wasn’t foolish to begin with… It was simply that lately, he had been harassed to the point of a mental breakdown by a sasaeng stalker, which was why he had mistaken Cen Yu—who had approached holding a phone—for the stalker tailing him.
Realizing his mistake, a deeply apologetic look surfaced on his face immediately.
Looking at Cen Yu earnestly, he laid out every reason for his earlier misunderstanding, then added apologetically, “Because that stalker acts like a phantom every single time… To this day I haven’t seen his face, only hearing his voice to know he’s a young man, which led me to jump to conclusions.”
He apologized to Cen Yu several times, then looked up at him.
Cen Yu flashed him another smile—
“Woof, woof, woof.”
Meaning: Stop barking like a dog.
Since you love barking like a dog so much, I can only bark right back at you.
