Chapter 116: Transmigrated as a Fraudulent Male Streamer (40)
[Little Le: Ditching me just because he’s handsome, huh?!]
[Let’s see the assistant guy’s face!]
Cen Yu glanced at the chat’s request and pointed the camera straight at Yu Sheng. He stayed off-camera himself and asked Yu Sheng in a low voice, “Everything ready?”
Yu Sheng nodded.
He glanced at a few questions in the chat—
[What’s his relationship with the streamer anyway?! Why did he come to work at this sweatshop!]
Yu Sheng: “A watched-him-grow-up kind of relationship.”
[How old is the assistant guy this year? Why does he talk so old-fashionedly…]
Yu Sheng frowned. He gave serious thought to how old he actually was this year… only to end up shaking his head at the camera. “I can’t remember.”
Cen Yu leaned over to glance at the chat. “Don’t ask weird questions, you guys.”
Then he said to Yu Sheng, “And you don’t have to answer everything either.”
With that, he signaled Yu Sheng to stay behind him, holding up his phone to resume streaming… By now, the two had left the first floor and begun walking toward the higher floors of Changhe Building.
“You guys say this place is really dangerous?” Cen Yu glanced at the chat, which was still talking about the shadow that had appeared behind his back earlier.
He looked at the chat skeptically. “Did you all conspire to trick me?”
The chat instantly went frantic—
[Who’s tricking you!! It was really there!! There was definitely a dangling thing following behind you just now!]
[And right when you turned your head just now, the drool from its tongue almost dripped onto you!]
Cen Yu was thoroughly disgusted by the description in the chat. “This thing sure has terrible hygiene, flinging its tongue around and slavering everywhere.”
“Then what happened after?”
[After that, the stream signal suddenly glitched for a second, and the video froze!]
[Right! The screen suddenly got super laggy, and then the assistant guy appeared!]
When Cen Yu saw this part, he hesitated slightly. He turned his head toward Yu Sheng, who was walking slightly behind him on his right. “Did you see anything when you came over just now?”
“See anything?” Yu Sheng put on a puzzled expression, then casually pinched out a few dark shadows that were skulking around on the second floor.
He had noticed just now that there were quite a few things inside this building… It seemed there were not only the original inhabitants of the building itself, but also a few people dressed in outdoor exploration gear holding phones or other streaming equipment—looking very much like Cen Yu’s fellow streamers.
“No,” Yu Sheng thought for a moment, deciding it was better not to tell Cen Yu about these things.
He watched as Cen Yu immediately turned back to the camera and said, “Assistant guy says there was nothing!”
[…Could it be that these things can only be caught on camera?]
The chat began questioning reality as well.
The main thing was that the entity had looked far too real—nothing like the cheap, obviously fake props Cen Yu used to buy in bulk from 1688 or PDD for a few dozen bucks.
That lifelike, malice-filled demeanor.
Plus that nearly translucent body suspended from the ceiling…
Could Cen Yu have finally made it big? Capable of affording holographic projection gear? Going for big-budget production value now??
The stream’s regular viewers were utterly baffled. Someone who had taken a screenshot earlier even went out of their way to start a forum thread, asking everyone to weigh in on whether this was an actual ghost encounter or if the streamer’s staging techniques were just outrageously skilled.
Only Complete Idiot in the chat kept endlessly praising Cen Yu for being amazing and super capable!
Cen Yu got a headache just looking at it, especially since that guy’s comments came with special display effects, making it impossible to pretend not to see them…
It was right at this moment that an account without a profile picture suddenly popped into the stream. The username was the default string of characters: user_hwuhdeuwhu.
Without saying a word, this Gibberish Guy dropped thirty of the highest-tier gifts right as he entered.
The special effects flooding the screen instantly diluted the spooky atmosphere. Cen Yu hadn’t expected anyone besides Fan Jie to tip him gifts.
[? Is this flop streamer finally going viral??]
[No way, no way, the streamer just got a tiny bit of face work done and this many people showed up??]
[Changhe Building really lives up to its name as a popular check-in spot, look at the crowd gathering already?!]
Then, right before Cen Yu’s eyes, Gibberish Guy changed his username to a single character: He.
“…” Turns out it was another old acquaintance.
Cen Yu cast a glance at He Yongning. “Thanks a bunch.”
[So perfunctory! Brother He, teach him a lesson!]
[He: Just saw the stream? It’s this dangerous here?]
Cen Yu held up his phone while walking upstairs. Because this was an abandoned building, the elevators were entirely out of order, so previous exploratory streamers had all taken the emergency stairwell up.
He kicked an aluminum can out of his path and said to He Yongning, “It’s fine.”
“I’m not alone.”
The stream chat assumed he meant he had an assistant accompanying him. Only He Yongning knew Cen Yu’s real subtext—
I’m not here alone as the only human; I’ve got a ghost accompanying me too.
Sitting in his office right now, He Yongning had only found out about Cen Yu streaming at Changhe Building when the man was already standing in the first-floor lobby. Naturally, he had also seen the figure behind Cen Yu… and had picked up on that brief moment of video lag.
He guessed that wasn’t a connection lag at all, but rather Yu Sheng stepping in to handle the situation.
He Yongning watched the live stream on the screen, his other hand idly spinning a fountain pen. He had originally intended to say something more, but seeing that Cen Yu had already reached the second floor, he decided not to distract him and suppressed his initial urge.
Naturally, Cen Yu had no idea what He Yongning was thinking at this moment.
He took a glance at the chat, and seeing that they were starting to spout nonsense again, he simply focused his attention on inspecting the environment of the second floor.
Compared to the reception lobby on the first floor, the second floor had likely been a play area for children, with the vast space partitioned into several distinct zones where kids could pretend to be chefs, doctors, and various other professions.
Cen Yu walked over to the “Gourmet Area” to take a look.
He found quite a few plastic toy plates resting on the low tables.
Further out were mini stove units along with toy pots, pans, and utensils… looking every bit like a place where kids used to experience different careers.
After taking just a few steps, Cen Yu suddenly heard the sound of a nursery rhyme echoing through the deserted second floor—
[Mommy, Daddy, let’s play a game together.]
[Mommy, Daddy, today you get to be the children.]
[I’ll take care of you.]
“…?” Holding up his phone, Cen Yu had just suspected he heard wrong when he realized the voice was actually coming from the PA speakers on the second floor.
Yet power to this place had clearly been cut off for many years!
The viewers in the chat began frantically spamming question marks, as they had obviously heard the voice coming out of nowhere as well.
[?? No way, if this is staged too, all I can say is Hollywood-level production!]
[HOLY SHIT!! Something is seriously wrong with this place AHHHH!!]
[Rest in peace, streamer. Praying for you (folded hands)]
