Chapter 112: Transmigrated as a Fraudulent Male Streamer (36)
Two weeks later, Cen Yu was already able to “fly” around on his crutches. Whenever anyone tried to step in and support him, he would promptly shoo them away with a swing of his crutch.
“Little Yu,” Pei Hengyun, who was staying in the same town inn with him, looked at him pitiably as Cen Yu prepared to head out alone. “Let me come with you.”
Cen Yu merely waved his hand, leaning on his crutches as he began making his way toward Meiman High School…
He still remembered he had an uncompleted task, which meant he couldn’t break free from this world just yet.
The fat cat had been playing dead this whole time. To make up for its work blunder, it had been relentlessly dangling a carrot in front of him, claiming that the next world was guaranteed to be a relaxing tour—practically a luxury vacation!
Having taken just a few steps, Cen Yu spotted a familiar face emerging from the room next door.
It was He Yongning, holding a walking cane.
“…” Cen Yu cast a glance at the cane in He Yongning’s grip.
Quite the actor, he snorted internally, taking the man in from head to toe. “Didn’t you head back already?”
He remembered that on the second day after waking up, He Yongning had been picked up by his assistant and others to return to the capital for further medical treatment.
How had the man suddenly popped back up in this tiny inn after two weeks?
Seeing Cen Yu, He Yongning didn’t look surprised at all. His injuries weren’t as severe as Cen Yu’s; by now his cast had been removed, and though he couldn’t apply full weight just yet, he could manage a few slow steps.
“Thought I’d come back for another look,” He Yongning said after a moment’s thought.
Naturally, that wasn’t the entire reason, but it served as a perfect excuse for now.
“Fair enough.” Cen Yu figured he understood what He Yongning meant.
Both of them possessed an extra set of memories compared to everyone else. He Yongning was likely curious to see what the teaching building he funded looked like in this timeline as well.
When the two arrived at Meiman High School, Cen Yu spotted Jiang Tuan, whose arm was held up in a cast.
“…” What were they supposed to be?
The Cast Trio?
As wild thoughts raced through Cen Yu’s mind, he noticed Jiang Tuan greeting the security guard, looking thoroughly surprised to run into the two of them.
Cen Yu simply stared at the unfamiliar security guard. In the end, the guard unlocked the side gate for the three of them, telling them to make it quick—
Likely moved by the sight of three guys injured to this degree still remembering to pay a visit to their school, the guard was thoroughly touched by their spirit of nostalgia for their alma mater.
Leaning on his crutches, Cen Yu took in the brand-new teaching building before them—
This teaching building looked quite similar to the one he had seen before, but unlike that time, classes were currently in session inside. A moment later, the bell rang to signal the end of class… and they spotted Yan Feiluan walking out of the building.
Cen Yu instinctively looked down at Yan Feiluan’s legs.
In this timeline, Yan Feiluan’s legs were perfectly fine.
Seeing the three of them arrive, Yan Feiluan was delightfully surprised as well. He had originally intended to attend the class reunion back then, but had to leave Meiman High School due to an unexpected assignment to lead a team for an academic competition.
Who would have thought that shortly after, news of a mudslide would break out.
Fortunately, none of the reunion attendees had been hurt… He also felt as though he had experienced many things in a dream, though by the time he woke up, he had forgotten every bit of it.
“Where’s the old teaching building?” Cen Yu asked out of nowhere.
He was a bit curious about what had happened to the old building.
Unlike the scene in that “dream,” Meiman High School now featured only two brand-new teaching buildings, with no trace left of the old one from his dream.
Hearing the question, Yan Feiluan let out a sigh of sentimentality. “A few years ago, we had a minor landslide here too. Fortunately, it happened during summer break, so no one was injured. After the old teaching building was gone, the township and other places pitched in to help. Yongning then provided the funding, and once the area was cleared out, a new teaching building was built right where the old one stood.”
He Yongning hadn’t expected the story in this timeline to turn out like this either.
Casting a glance at this teaching building supposedly built with his own funds, he merely gave a restrained nod. “Glad it could be of help to the school.”
Yan Feiluan let out a hearty laugh, clapping them on the shoulders. “Feel free to look around at your own pace.”
“There are a few classes on the third floor doing crash training for a competition, but everywhere else is empty.” He glanced in the direction of the old teaching building. “The science building over there is empty too.”
With that, Yan Feiluan seemed to have urgent business to attend to and departed in a hurry.
Noticing Cen Yu’s gaze lingering on Yan Feiluan’s legs all this time, Jiang Tuan asked, unable to contain his confusion any longer, “…Is there something wrong with Teacher Yan’s legs?”
“Nothing,” Cen Yu said. “Just marveling at what a fine pair of legs those are.”
“?” Jiang Tuan threw a glance at Cen Yu’s leg in a cast, unable to tell whether he was envious or feeling something else entirely.
He Yongning, on the other hand, understood what Cen Yu was marveling at, letting out a soft chuckle.
Seeing both of them laugh, Jiang Tuan asked, “Are you two keeping some secret from me?”
Stepping forward slightly, he happened to reach the outdoor basketball court. What a pity there was no basketball around right now… Glancing at the cast on his own arm and the two injured guys beside him, he suddenly found it a bit funny too.
“I originally thought how nice it’d be if we could play another game of basketball at school.”
Jiang Tuan shifted his cast-bound arm slightly. “Guess that’s not happening.”
Cen Yu shrugged, while He Yongning suddenly pulled a palm-sized toy basketball out from his trousers pocket.
Tossing it a few times in his hand, he asked, “Game on?”
Jiang Tuan looked eager to try at the sight, while Cen Yu, propped up on his crutches, glanced left and right before provocatively crooking his fingers at both of them. “Don’t regret this.”
By the time Pei Hengyun made his way slowly to the outside of Meiman High School, he caught sight of three injured patients on the sports field playing basketball at a snail’s pace… Having just stolen the palm-sized basketball and preparing to shoot, Cen Yu realized he couldn’t jump at all.
So he simply stood on his tiptoes on one foot, flicking his wrist to toss the palm-sized toy basketball out.
SWISH!
Swish through the net.
The ball bounced onto the court floor.
“Won,” Cen Yu jerked his chin at the two beside him.
Jiang Tuan had still been defending against He Yongning, but seeing the ball go in, he gave up defending altogether. Lifting the hem of his T-shirt to wipe the sweat from his forehead, he said, “Fine, I’ll deal with you two in a bit.”
He walked over, bending down to pick up the palm-sized basketball.
He was naturally big-boned, making the tiny ball look even more like a children’s toy in his palm.
Jiang Tuan looked down at the toy basketball in his grip, squeezing it a few times in his palm.
Gazing up at the basketball hoop above, he realized Meiman High School truly knew where to save and where to spend—this basketball hoop hadn’t been replaced at all. It was the exact same one they used back in the day; how it had dodged disaster was anyone’s guess.
Right now, only he and Cen Yu stood beneath the basketball hoop.
Jiang Tuan turned back to look at Cen Yu, just as he used to do every time he turned his head from his desk years ago. Back then, he would always call out, “Cen Yu, up for basketball?”
