Chapter 54

Feng Wu froze.

The kiss had been far too quick and fleeting. For one split second, he even thought he had imagined it.

Lin An’an tilted his head slightly. Seeing the shock and disbelief on the man’s face, the smile in his eyes deepened. “What? You didn’t like it?”

Feng Wu pressed his lips together. It took him quite a while to find his voice again. “…No.”

Lin An’an blinked. “If you didn’t not like it, then that means you liked it?”

Feng Wu glanced at him. The flush on his ears spread rapidly across his entire face, and even looked like it might continue down his neck.

He did not speak, but his expression already said everything.

It was rare to see Feng Wu like this, and Lin An’an suddenly felt like teasing him. “Why aren’t you saying anything? Don’t you have something you want to tell me?”

Feng Wu’s chest rose and fell for a moment. He looked at him for a long while before finally parting his lips. “I… liked it very much.”

Lin An’an smiled. “Liked what?”

As if he had not expected Lin An’an to keep pressing him, Feng Wu was momentarily at a loss. But he quickly forced himself to calm down.

His tone was serious, and every word came out with crystal clarity. “I liked you kissing me.”

If not for the redness still lingering on his face, Lin An’an might have thought from that solemn tone that he was delivering a battlefield report rather than speaking sweet words.

Lin An’an asked, “You only liked me kissing you?”

The fingers Feng Wu had resting on the table curled unconsciously. “…I like you too.”

“What?” Lin An’an leaned closer to him. “You were speaking too softly. I didn’t hear you clearly.”

Feng Wu looked at him steadily, golden eyes reflecting the smiling black eyes before him. “I like you.”

His voice trembled slightly, as if he was wholly unused to expressing his feelings so plainly.

There were no flowery phrases, no roses or fine wine to set the mood—just four simple words, yet they were tender and full of strength.

Even though Lin An’an had long since guessed Feng Wu’s feelings for him, hearing him say it out loud still made his heartbeat spiral out of control.

It felt as if his heart had been lightly cupped in a pair of somewhat rough but gentle hands. It was itchy, but even more than that, it was warm and thrilling.

“What a coincidence,” Lin An’an said, his eyes curving. “I think I like you too.”

Feng Wu frowned slightly, as though not quite satisfied with that answer. “‘Think’? ‘A little’?”

“All right.” Lin An’an gave in. “Not ‘think,’ and not ‘a little.’”

He copied Feng Wu’s serious tone from just now and said each word carefully, “Feng Wu, I like you. I like you very, very much.”

A smile spread uncontrollably from the depths of Feng Wu’s golden eyes.

He reached out and took Lin An’an’s hand. “An’an.”

Lin An’an hooked his lips. “What is it?”

“Can I kiss you?” Feng Wu asked softly. “I want to kiss you.”

Lin An’an couldn’t help laughing. He leaned in on his own. “You don’t need to ask about something like that. Just do it.”

He clearly saw the emotions Feng Wu had been suppressing in his eyes burst forth. Their lips met, and the gentle probing gradually turned intense and burning.

Feng Wu’s kiss had no technique to speak of, but his feelings were fierce and overwhelming, though still gentle, carrying that distinct restraint of his.

Lin An’an was kissed until his head turned hazy. In his dazed state, he thought that if he had known being with Wolf Bro would make him this happy, he should have confessed much earlier.

Delaying it by so many days—who knew how much happiness he had missed out on.

…What a huge loss!

After deciding to begin carrying out their respective plans, everyone in the farmhouse villa in the wilderness became visibly busier than before.

Zhang Yifeng and Wu Hula left the farmhouse villa, saying they needed to go explain a few things to the other brothers.

Gu Yubai borrowed Feng Wu’s lab and did not step outside for several days straight.

Her original mech had been destroyed during the Elders’ ambush, leaving only the mech consciousness intact. During her time on Sin Planet, Gu Yubai had been rebuilding a new body for her mech consciousness. Now only the final bit remained before it would be complete.

As for Lin An’an and Feng Wu, they took on the major task of cracking Sin Planet’s defense system.

To be precise, Feng Wu took that task on all by himself. Lin An’an merely stayed by his side and cheered him on.

When it came to mechanical systems, almost no one could compare with Feng Wu’s ability, and Lin An’an was perfectly at ease leaving it in his hands.

Ever since Sin Planet had officially been designated as the living planet for Alpha patients, a defense system had been established outside the planet.

That system was used to monitor entries and exits. If anyone tried to leave Sin Planet without a verified identity, the detection system would trigger an alert.

First, it would issue a warning and attempt to turn them back. If that failed, the system would activate force mode and restrain the trespasser’s mobility.

This system had been funded jointly by the entire galaxy, so its quality was naturally first-rate.

But to Feng Wu, no system was truly unbreakable. As long as he could find a loophole, he could still leave Sin Planet without a sound, or even move in and out freely.

He had simply not done so before because, for various reasons, he had not wanted to.

Day after day passed, until at last, on the same day Gu Yubai’s new mech was completed, Feng Wu also succeeded in breaking through Sin Planet’s defense system.

This time, they were sneaking out, so Zhang Yifeng and Wu Hula would not be leaving with them.

The way Gu Yubai and Xia Lin had arrived on Sin Planet in the first place had been so unusual that no formal identity registration had ever been made. The identities they used on Sin Planet were all fake, so even if they appeared outside in their real forms, no one except those who knew the truth would suspect anything.

Only Feng Wu’s identity had records attached to it, so once he left Sin Planet, he would need to disguise himself.

Under cover of night, Feng Wu and Gu Yubai piloted their respective mechs out of the wilderness farm and headed toward the edge of Sin Planet.

Feng Wu had already marked the point of breakthrough in advance. When they neared the defense system, the two mechs hovered there for only a few brief seconds. Then, without making the slightest sound, Feng Wu tore open a crack in the barrier, allowing both mechs to slip out smoothly.

He sealed the gap again immediately, and the defense system never made a single sound throughout the whole process.

Lin An’an sat in the co-pilot seat of Silver Armor, his gaze practically glued to the observation screen beside him.

The small screen showed the scene outside the mech. The universe at night was dark, yet there were still many planets reflecting faint light, twinkling in the blackness.

Sin Planet was getting farther and farther away. Gu Yubai’s voice suddenly sounded in Silver Armor’s cockpit.

“Can you hear me?” Gu Yubai asked. She had connected the communication channel between the mechs.

Feng Wu answered briefly, “Speak.”

“This time, after leaving Sin Planet, I most likely won’t be coming back before I deal with the Elders’ Council problem,” Gu Yubai said. “With Elder Shang and the others taking care of Bai Yang and Bai Yue, I’m very much at ease. It’s just that… if in the future—”

“There is no ‘if,’” Lin An’an cut in abruptly.

Gu Yubai paused, then laughed. “You’re right. There is no ‘if.’”

Lin An’an said, “Let’s wish ourselves luck.”

“All right. We’ll stay in touch by terminal if anything happens,” Gu Yubai said crisply. “Hopefully, the next time we meet, we’ll all have already achieved our goals.”

On the display screen, Lin An’an saw Gu Yubai’s mech raise an arm and wave at them. Then it quickly adjusted course and flew off in a different direction from theirs.

Watching the mech fade into the distance, Lin An’an suddenly felt a wave of emotion.

At that moment, Silver Armor’s mechanical voice sounded by his ear. “This time, when I return to the Federation, I will definitely reclaim everything that belongs to me!”

Lin An’an: “…Silver Armor, what are you talking about?”

“It’s from the materials Giant-Bear Bear sent me,” Silver Armor said cheerfully. “I thought it suited Chief Gu’s current state of mind very well.”

The faint melancholy of parting Lin An’an had just begun to feel was instantly scattered by Silver Armor’s words.

He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but after thinking about it, he said, “Actually, it really does fit a little.”

“Is Little Master interested in this too?” Silver Armor asked. “I have lots of it. If Little Master wants, Silver Armor can organize it for you. Last time Master needed it, Silver Armor also helped—”

“Silver Armor.” Feng Wu cut off its endless chatter in time. “That’s enough.”

But Lin An’an’s curiosity had already been piqued. “Silver Armor, tell me more.”

Feng Wu’s gaze immediately slid toward him.

Lin An’an, however, was utterly fearless. He even reached out and scooped up Silver Armor’s tiny virtual mech consciousness.

Cradling the miniature mech in his hands, he whispered, “It’s fine. If Wolf Bro doesn’t want to hear it, then just keep your voice down and tell me alone.”

The little virtual mech turned its head, carefully glanced at Feng Wu, then turned back to Lin An’an’s smiling face and immediately threw itself into its little master’s arms.

The pair, one big and one small, started whispering away in a corner. Feng Wu pinched the bridge of his nose, the roots of his ears burning red with embarrassment.

The mech moved quickly, and before long they arrived at the nearby space-time transfer point.

“The transfer can feel pretty rough,” Feng Wu said, slowing the mech a little. He somehow produced a sugar pill. “Hold this under your tongue. It helps a bit.”

Lin An’an accepted it and did as instructed. The pill tasted of mint, and after tucking it beneath his tongue, even his breathing seemed to turn cooler.

Feng Wu had already guided the mech into the transfer point. “Ready?”

Lin An’an gave him an “OK” sign. The next second, a fierce wave of dizziness hit him. He grabbed the armrest beside the seat tightly, feeling as if he was about to be thrown out.

The transfer lasted for over a minute. Once the dizziness faded, Lin An’an let out a breath, his face a little pale.

Seeing how bad he looked, Feng Wu stopped the mech entirely, letting it hover in the void.

“Are you all right?” he asked with concern.

Lin An’an waved a hand, opened his mouth to say something, then suddenly hissed softly.

Feng Wu tensed at once. “What’s wrong?”

Lin An’an moved his lips. “…I think I bit my tongue.”

“Let me see.” Feng Wu leaned closer and gently pinched Lin An’an’s chin between his fingers.

Lin An’an obediently opened his mouth and stuck out part of his tongue. Sure enough, there was a small cut at the tip, and it was still oozing blood.

Feng Wu frowned.

Lin An’an pulled his tongue back and said softly, “Wolf Bro, when you look at me like that, it really makes me want to kiss you.”

As he spoke, he leaned forward a little, but Feng Wu leaned back. “You can’t.”

Lin An’an was puzzled. “Why not?”

“Your tongue is injured.” Feng Wu pressed his lips together. “It’ll hurt.”

Lin An’an: “…”

He frowned, raised a hand, and lightly touched his mouth. A soft green glow flashed. Then he stuck out his now-healed tongue and said a little unclearly, “It’s healed now. So can I kiss you?”
