I Can Hear My Straight Roommate’s Thoughts – CH42

Chapter 42

The music in the bar was deafening. Off to one side, someone was standing high up on a booth seat, popping champagne and cheering, golden liquor and white foam spraying everywhere from the bottle. Laughter and teasing never stopped. On the large stage straight ahead, several people were in the middle of a dance performance.

A crowd had gathered below, swaying and shouting along. Onstage, a scantily dressed man was doing pole dancing, and whistles rose from the audience below.

Xie Ning frowned slightly, ignoring the scene before him. It was stuffy inside the bar, and most people were dressed very lightly. He did not take off his coat, only undid a few buttons.

The classic trench coat style made his figure look slim and tall. As he walked, the pale wool layer beneath outlined his narrow waist—lean, toned, and slender. His long legs further emphasized the excellent proportions of his body. He looked as though he had stepped in on a wash of moonlight, his expression calm and indifferent. Under the colorful lights, his cool and beautiful face had a soul-stealing charm.

The moment Xie Ning stepped into the bar, quite a few people focused their attention on him. The gazes hidden in the shadows were hot and burning, following him wherever he went.

In a place devoted to indulgence and desire, Xie Ning was not affected at all. His expression remained calm as he headed directly toward his destination. One by one, the flushed faces around him turned with his movement, until they could turn no farther.

“Are you here to have fun too? Let me buy you a drink…” A few young men who had come together bravely stepped forward to flirt with him, only to be forced back in place by one indifferent glance from Xie Ning. They stood there dazed. That cool look had practically stolen their souls and left them inexplicably haunted.

The booth Qi Ran was in was farther inside.

It took Xie Ning a bit of effort to find them.

“Brother Xie Ning! Over here, over here! Why didn’t you say anything when you got here? We were going to go pick you up.” Several younger-looking boys hurriedly got up from the booth. The moment they saw Xie Ning, their eyes lit up like dogs spotting a meat bone. They scrambled to take off their jackets and spread them over the sofa. “Brother Xie Ning, sit here…”

Xie Ning said “thank you” and sat down next to Qi Ran. Qi Ran was clearly already quite drunk. The moment he saw Xie Ning, it was as though he had finally seen his pillar of support. He looked one step away from grabbing onto him and crying his heart out.

Still, he probably had not drunk that much—not to the point of losing consciousness. Qi Ran still remembered that Xie Ning had a cleanliness obsession. Right now, he was all snot and tears, and he could not afford to violate one of Xie Ning’s taboos.

Qi Ran let out a few mournful cries of “bro,” then sadly picked up his glass and took a sip of alcohol. “You told me to listen to the voice in my heart. I thought about it for a long time, and I realized I really do seem to be gay… But how could I be gay?”

“When it comes to feelings, it’s hard to say,” Xie Ning replied. “Maybe the person you met gave you an experience no one else could replace.”

Qi Ran froze, then muttered to himself, “That’s true. We got along really well, but I forgot to ask what their gender was…”

Since Qi Ran already had an answer, he no longer needed that much advice from Xie Ning. Besides, with something like this, no one else’s opinion really counted. The path of feelings was one a person had to walk for themselves.

Qi Ran was talking by his ear, and Xie Ning listened carefully. The music was loud and the air was stuffy. He picked up his glass and took a sip.

Ice clinked crisply inside the glass. The fingers holding the glass were long, slender, and pale. Under the colorful lights, the liquor was tipped into his mouth, and some of it overflowed from the corner of his lips, sliding past his jaw and disappearing into his collar.

The people at the booths nearby, who had been chatting happily a moment ago, all fell silent. In the hazy lighting, their attention shifted entirely to Xie Ning.

The chaotic lights reflected off Xie Ning’s delicate skin, making it shimmer like diamonds. After coming in, he remained perfectly composed. Even the way he drank was smooth and practiced, making him look like an old hand, completely unfazed by the dazzling, chaotic atmosphere of the bar.

Quite a few people had originally planned to approach and strike up a conversation, but the cold steadiness in his eyes and brows instead seemed to separate him from this place entirely, making people afraid to come too close.

“I originally wanted to go check out a gay bar, but I realized I couldn’t accept it… Are gay people all like this? I…” Qi Ran’s words grew more and more tangled. “But I really do seem to be gay.”

Xie Ning said, “Don’t focus on whether or not you’re gay, and don’t try to look for common ground in other gay people. You only need to think about the person you actually care about—whether you’re happy when you’re with them, whether being with them feels good, whether you want to keep being with them. That includes whatever intimacy might happen later. You’re an adult. You know what I mean.”

Qi Ran fell silent for a moment, then said, “I want that.”

“Then you’re gay,” Xie Ning said. “Have you figured it out? If you have, then we’re leaving right now.”

Qi Ran obediently replied, “I figured it out. Let’s go, bro. It’s so noisy here.”

Qi Ran knew that Xie Ning disliked noisy environments, yet Xie Ning had still come. Sure enough, Xie Ning really did care about him.

As for Xie Ning, what he was thinking was that the appraising looks from all around were making him extremely uncomfortable—too purposeful, too nakedly lustful.

It was deeply unpleasant.

In this bar, Qi Ran looked like a helpless little lamb, especially when he clearly looked emotionally devastated. Luckily, he still had at least a bit of sense and had not come alone to drink himself senseless. Otherwise, there was a good chance he would have been taken advantage of.

Xie Ning stood up and reached out to help Qi Ran. One of the younger boys beside them was especially eager. “Brother Xie Ning, let me help! Qi Ran is really heavy. Don’t let him tire you out.”

“No need, I’ve got it. Thank you for tonight, though…” Xie Ning said, then asked in confusion, “Don’t you all have class?”

He remembered that among Qi Ran’s friends, a few seemed to have only just turned eighteen and were still in international high school. It was true that international schools often had lighter coursework than ordinary schools, but it was this late and they still were not going home—they were drinking in a bar instead. Wouldn’t their families say anything?

One of the boys showed a wronged expression. “Brother Xie Ning, most of us have already gotten our offers. And him—he’s already in one of those joint international university programs…”

All right. So Xie Ning had remembered wrong. It was not this group of friends after all.

It was not really Xie Ning’s fault. Qi Ran simply had too many friends. There had been one group in middle school, another after high school and university, and Qi Ran also loved bringing his friends to meet him. To Xie Ning, those young faces all looked more or less the same, so mixing them up was only natural.

“I see,” Xie Ning said. “Then you all should head home too. It isn’t safe to stay out this late. I didn’t drive here, so it would be inconvenient for me to take you. Otherwise, I would.”

They had originally wanted to say that they could take Xie Ning, since they had driven. But then it occurred to them that they had all been drinking—having a car did not mean they could drive it. In a bit, they would either have to call a chauffeur or book a hotel nearby.

A total miscalculation. Why had they gone and drunk alcohol? Mainly because they had never expected Xie Ning to come.

“Brother Xie Ning, our driver is here, but he can’t find the way… Wait here, we’ll go outside and meet up with him. If your car still hasn’t arrived, we’ll take you!”

This bunch of young guys really were warm-hearted.

At this hour, getting a ride was difficult. Traffic was heavily backed up, and the car Xie Ning had called was stuck about a kilometer away, barely moving.

It was cold outside and warm inside. Since Xie Ning was afraid of catching a cold, he decided to stay inside for now. While looking at his phone, he suddenly noticed that Pei Zhi had sent him a lot of messages. He had not noticed them earlier—probably because they had been pushed down by other notifications.

[Immature Ghost: Traffic jam. So annoying. T-T]

[Immature Ghost: I’m almost there. How’s your brother?]

[Immature Ghost: [A video call came in and was not answered]]

[Immature Ghost: Wait for me.]

[Immature Ghost: …]

[Immature Ghost: I’m here. Where are you?]

Pei Zhi had sent a lot, a lot of messages. He had probably gotten stuck in traffic and, with no reply at all, become worried. The whole screen was so full of messages it made one dizzy.

Just as Xie Ning was about to reply, a man in a suit walked over. The suited man looked extremely refined and spoke in a cultured tone. “Hello? Are you waiting for someone? While you’re waiting, can we get to know each other?”

Xie Ning ignored him.

The other man continued, “I’ve seen you before. I didn’t expect you were into the same thing too… otherwise I would have tried to pursue you a long time ago.”

Only when he heard the man say that he had seen him before did Xie Ning lift his eyes to look at him.

He had a completely unfamiliar face.

He did not know him.

The man said, “My name is Sheng Yan. We’re at the same school, just not in the same major. I saw you once when I was volunteering. At the time, you were painting the wall mural.”

When the mural project was mentioned, Xie Ning vaguely remembered it.

Every year, the school organized mural projects, and anyone who wanted to join could sign up. Xie Ning had not been especially interested in mural painting, but it counted for extracurricular credits, and he happened to have nothing else to do that day, so he went along.

Even after signing up successfully, participants still had to be selected by the supervisors. Xie Ning’s professional ability was excellent, so naturally he made it through. But he had not paid attention to the students or volunteers around him at all. He had only focused on his own work.

Sheng Yan, on the other hand, remembered it very clearly.

It had been early autumn. Xie Ning had not been afraid at all of getting his clothes dirty, dressed simply in a white top and black pants, standing steadily amid the drifting golden leaves. His waist had been slim, his skin pale, and under the sunlight, his cool temperament had shone brilliantly.

Sheng Yan had fallen in love at first sight, but after observing for a while, his instinct told him that Xie Ning was straight. So he had backed off. He never touched straight men.

The more Qi Ran listened, the more wrong it all sounded. He stepped in front of Xie Ning. “What are you doing? Don’t even think about making moves on my brother…”

“When adults are talking, little kids shouldn’t interrupt.” Sheng Yan bent slightly at the waist. Under the blue-purple lighting, his handsome, refined face carried the illusion of a polished scoundrel. He even seemed a little sad. “You really don’t remember me at all?”

That event had lasted a full week. They had seen each other every day and eaten in the same place. Surely there should have been some impression at least? He touched his own face. “I look pretty decent, don’t I?”

Xie Ning ignored Sheng Yan. It was obvious Sheng Yan was trying to flirt with him, and there was no point in responding to anything he said.

He was in the middle of replying to Pei Zhi’s messages. Pei Zhi had sent him a video, but the scene in it did not quite match where Xie Ning was, so he guessed Pei Zhi might have gone in through the wrong entrance.

“If you don’t remember me, do you remember Pei Zhi? He was in that same volunteer group with us.” Xie Ning looked up in surprise. The moment Sheng Yan saw that Xie Ning did not remember Pei Zhi either, a deep sense of balance suddenly settled in his heart.

Men were jealous creatures, especially when facing another man who was far superior to them. At the time, Sheng Yan had especially hated Pei Zhi. Not only was Pei Zhi better-looking than him, he also came from a better family background. Standing next to Pei Zhi, Sheng Yan had felt like nothing more than a green onion placed there to make Pei Zhi look better—stifled to death.

“Pei Zhi was a volunteer back then too?” Xie Ning asked.

Xie Ning had always thought they had only met after becoming roommates, but Pei Zhi had actually already seen him more than once before that? He was very surprised. Pei Zhi had never mentioned any of this to him.

It seemed Pei Zhi had hidden many things from him.

“Yeah. Do you know each other?” Sheng Yan suddenly felt that Xie Ning’s startled expression was unexpectedly adorable. He stepped closer, bent down, and in the haze of alcohol and color around the booth, his tone turned a little suggestive. “Forget about him. Want to consider seeing where things could go with me? I—”

Seen from such close range, the power of Xie Ning’s face was simply overwhelming. Sheng Yan felt almost dizzy from it and forgot to straighten back up. Xie Ning’s car had arrived. Helping the completely limp Qi Ran to his feet, he left without looking back.

Sheng Yan’s heart raced. Even after all this time, he still remembered the feeling of seeing Xie Ning for the first time. He wanted to chase after him, but after only taking a couple of steps, a sharp pain exploded in his shoulder.

From behind, Pei Zhi twisted Sheng Yan’s arm around and then threw him onto the sofa beside them. When he crashed into it, he knocked over drinks all over the place, drawing plenty of stares.

Xie Ning turned around too.

Pei Zhi’s brows and eyes were dark and cold. Under the extravagant, decadent lights, his handsome face radiated a chilling menace.

Soaked in liquor, Sheng Yan cursed under his breath from the sofa. “What the hell is wrong with you? Do you even know how expensive this outfit is—” But when he looked up and saw Pei Zhi, his pupils widened in shock.

“I’ll pay for the clothes,” Pei Zhi said, his eyes darkening ominously. “But if you dare to reach out and touch him again without knowing what’s good for you, I can also pay your medical bills.”

The moment Pei Zhi found the place Xie Ning had described, he saw a man reaching out as if to put a hand on Xie Ning’s shoulder. In that instant, Pei Zhi’s face turned terrifyingly dark. All the hostility and brutality he usually kept hidden beneath his indifference was dragged out at once.

The music pounding all around made his eardrums throb with pain. He charged over immediately, like a furious beast.

Sheng Yan fell silent in an instant. Although he did not personally know Pei Zhi, he did know enough about Pei Zhi’s family background. So he chose to let it go.

In the dim light, Pei Zhi’s features looked especially deep and sharply carved, his dark eyes full of hostility. But the moment he turned and saw Xie Ning, it was as if he became a completely different person.

Pei Zhi strode quickly over to Xie Ning, already taking off his trench coat as he walked and draping it over Xie Ning.

The coat was long. When it was put on Xie Ning, the hem almost reached his feet. Xie Ning was wrapped up completely, as though sealed inside a protective shell.

Pei Zhi’s expression softened further. Reaching up, he pulled the hood attached to the back of the trench coat over Xie Ning’s head. Qi Ran’s friends happened to return just then and instinctively took Qi Ran into their arms, looking at Pei Zhi with caution and scrutiny.

Pei Zhi ignored them completely. His hands had turned cold from the wind outside. He cupped Xie Ning’s face in his palms; it felt a little warm. Lowering his head, he sniffed lightly. “You drank?”

Wrapped in Pei Zhi’s coat, which still carried Pei Zhi’s warmth, Xie Ning could clearly sense Pei Zhi’s scent. It was intensely invasive, making it feel almost as if he were being held. They were standing so close that he could clearly feel the heat of each other’s breath.

“I drank a little,” Xie Ning said.

Pei Zhi touched his forehead. It was not that hot. His face was not particularly red either, and his mind seemed clear. Pei Zhi let out a breath of relief, then asked, “Are you hot?”

“I am,” Xie Ning said.

Turning to Qi Ran’s friends, he added, “My friend is here, so we can take him from here. Thank you. You should head back first.”

Qi Ran’s friends looked as though they wanted to say something, but when they saw the cold, gloomy look on Pei Zhi’s face, they felt a little intimidated. They nodded and did not dare linger any longer, hurrying off.

Pei Zhi helped Xie Ning get Qi Ran into the car. Once Qi Ran had been thrown into the back seat, the alcohol hit him in full force, and he passed out completely, taking up the whole back row by himself.

Xie Ning stood by the car door and watched for a moment, calling out to him twice, but Qi Ran did not respond. He had probably fallen fully asleep. Xie Ning shut the door, and the moment he straightened up, a hand caught him by the waist and pressed him against the car door.

Pei Zhi tugged Xie Ning’s coat tighter around him, then pulled the fallen hood back up over his head. Xie Ning’s face was small to begin with, and under the hood it looked even more delicate. When he tilted his head back to look at someone, his pale face no longer seemed as cold as usual. Instead, there was a harmless sort of innocence to it.

Under the streetlight, Pei Zhi looked at Xie Ning’s face. Then he slowly bent down, his movements unhurried, as if testing something.

They were getting closer and closer, nearly toe to toe. Pei Zhi did not stop moving forward. Only after confirming that Xie Ning had no intention of avoiding him did he press one step closer, pinning Xie Ning lightly against the car and kissing him under the shadow cast by the hood.

The streetlight was dim and yellow, and the hood was wide enough to hide them in just the right amount of shadow. Everything they were doing was concealed.

In the darkness, Pei Zhi’s lips pressed against Xie Ning’s. He did not rush to deepen the kiss. Instead, it was an almost pure kiss—just lips on lips, touching and rubbing again and again. Then he extended his tongue and slowly licked him, as though savoring a delicacy. Those full, pale lips were toyed with in that nearly teasing way, leaving them wet and gleaming. The previously dry mouth was gradually moistened, the whole process slow and gentle, like flirtation.

At first, Xie Ning could still keep his lips more or less closed. But as time passed, it was as if his mouth had been kissed open. Without meaning to, he parted his lips a little, soft, warm breath spilling out from inside.

The flow of breath brushing against him made him feel a little ticklish. With his back against the car door, he turned his head slightly, causing Pei Zhi’s kiss to land off-center at the corner of his lips.

Pei Zhi did not rush. He simply followed that movement and tilted his head too, chasing after Xie Ning’s lips.

His lips parted slightly, taking the soft, tender flesh between them. The tip of his tongue slowly entered Xie Ning’s mouth. With just the lightest touch, Xie Ning shyly recoiled. But Pei Zhi’s reaction was faster. In an instant, he coiled around the base of Xie Ning’s tongue, winding tightly over it little by little, like a snake capturing prey.

Pei Zhi kissed a little fiercely. The lingering, wet, dense kiss made Xie Ning feel short of breath, and a layer of moisture rose in his eyes.

Lacking air, he unconsciously opened his lips wider, only to be bullied even more. Pei Zhi practically kissed all the way to the deepest part. Every bit of soft flesh inside his mouth was tasted, and his tongue was maliciously sucked hard several times.

Because of his skin hunger, Xie Ning was already extraordinarily sensitive. The satisfaction brought by the embrace and the wet kiss made him tremble uncontrollably.

Pei Zhi seemed to realize that Xie Ning was in particularly good condition right now, so he kissed even deeper. His high nose brushed against Xie Ning’s soft cheek, pressing the pale skin down and letting it spring back, until uneven red marks were left behind.

Xie Ning dimly realized things were beginning to get out of control. He had thought it would only be a brief kiss, but now Pei Zhi seemed to be getting more and more engrossed. He wanted to stop him, but when Pei Zhi noticed his distraction, he suddenly sucked at the base of his tongue.

That sudden, densely aching sensation made it feel as though a current had spread through his whole mouth. Pink rapidly bloomed around his eyes, and he let out an unbearably soft little sound. “Hah—”

Pei Zhi slowly kissed around Xie Ning’s lips, his dark bangs hanging low over eyes full of possessiveness. “What are you thinking about?”

“Wh-what?” Finally released for a brief moment, Xie Ning parted his lips lightly to gasp for air, obvious moisture still shining at the corners of his mouth. As he spoke, the tip of his tongue slipped out faintly, red, tender, and wet, trembling just slightly.

Pei Zhi stared for an instant, his eyes growing even darker. He pressed his forehead against Xie Ning’s and breathed heavily for a while before speaking in a low voice. “…I hate them.”

Xie Ning understood even less, his eyes full of confusion. Pei Zhi paused, then said, “The way they looked at you. I hated it.”

Those stupid little punks had looked at Xie Ning the way dogs looked at a bone, their eyes practically glowing. And then there was the man who had tried to flirt with him… Pei Zhi knew that Xie Ning was outstanding, that it was normal for a lot of people to like him.

But he still could not stop the possessiveness growing inside him.

Just thinking about those men going near Xie Ning, thinking about them speaking to him, thinking about Xie Ning glancing back at them—even if it was only a cold, absentminded glance—was enough to make them ecstatic for a very long time.

Pei Zhi tightened his arms, pinning Xie Ning firmly against his chest. The sudden strength of the embrace pressed Xie Ning entirely into him. Their obvious difference in size made Pei Zhi’s embrace feel like the cage of a beast, gradually drawing some small, helpless animal into its territory.

While holding Xie Ning tightly, Pei Zhi breathed heavily. He slowly kissed Xie Ning’s brows, the corners of his eyes, the tip of his nose, the corners of his lips, as if marking him, kissing his whole face wet, all while repeating in a low voice:

“Mine… mine.” Pei Zhi’s voice sank even deeper. “You’re mine.”

His tone and expression were almost ferocious, but his body was trembling slightly, betraying his unease.

He seemed deeply afraid that someone would steal Xie Ning away, and so all he could do was keep tightening his hold, trying to imprison Xie Ning within his embrace.

Xie Ning suddenly realized that Pei Zhi’s feelings for him were not as simple as they appeared on the surface. It was not just the straightforward kind of liking he had imagined before. Pei Zhi’s feelings really were undisguised and blatant, but at the same time, they were not entirely clean, either.

They were mixed with an intense possessiveness and exclusivity—perhaps even something bordering on obsession.

Someone else might have been afraid of such overwhelming emotion, but Xie Ning unexpectedly did not dislike it.

On the contrary, being held this tightly, without even the slightest gap between them, felt intensely comforting.

That scorching body heat, that embrace so close there was not the smallest bit of space between them—it soothed every pore in his body, and every nerve in him seemed to send out signals of pleasure.

Xie Ning was not very good at comforting people. Even when Qi Ran had suffered a romantic blow earlier, he had not been able to offer especially appropriate words of comfort.

After thinking for a moment, Xie Ning suddenly wrapped his arms back around Pei Zhi’s waist. He felt Pei Zhi’s body stiffen slightly. Then Xie Ning slowly tilted his head up and?? kissed Pei Zhi lightly on the lips.

The hand at his waist tightened abruptly, pressing Xie Ning back against Pei Zhi’s body again. Unconsciously, he lifted his shoulders slightly. He heard a distinct sound of swallowing, and when he looked up, he met a pair of burning eyes.

Pei Zhi quickly lowered his head and kissed him again. Xie Ning’s lips and tongue had already been kissed into a wet, swollen red, but Pei Zhi still kept eating at his tongue, licking deeper inside.

His small mouth was kissed fully open, wrapped around Pei Zhi’s tongue, and he was forced to endure the way his own tongue was hooked and sucked on. He had only just begun to learn how to breathe through it, yet half the strength in his body was already gone.

A misty layer rose over his eyes. The comfort brought by the kiss and the embrace was simply too intense.

It was only a kiss, yet Xie Ning was already weak all over. Pei Zhi’s hand circled his waist and drew him even closer against himself.

Warm, wet breath filled Xie Ning’s mouth. Hot vapor escaped between their rubbing lips, drifting out beneath the shadow of the hood.

Xie Ning’s mouth felt like an overripe berry—one little stir and it yielded soft, sweet flesh and juice. His soft tongue had been kissed until it was so sensitive that every touch made it tremble helplessly.

Logically, saliva should not taste like much of anything. But to Pei Zhi, it tasted delicious—far too sweet and cloying. Combined with the faint fragrance on Xie Ning’s body, it was enough to make him lose his mind.

Among men, Xie Ning was definitely not short. In fact, because of his excellent proportions, he even looked tall. But perhaps because he was being held, his hands were curled up against Pei Zhi’s shoulders. Kissed so hard that he swayed from time to time and arched backward, his body looked especially small against Pei Zhi’s imposing frame.

After all, with just one light pull, Pei Zhi could wrap Xie Ning entirely in his arms.

“Bro? Bro…” A blurry sound came from inside the car. It was Qi Ran’s voice.

That voice abruptly dragged Xie Ning’s mind back to reality. He tensed up at once, his tongue anxiously trying to push Pei Zhi’s away, though it only made it feel more like they were teasing and tangling.

Pei Zhi’s lips and tongue were so hot. Held in his arms like this, Xie Ning was being kissed and licked at leisure, his reason seeming to melt inside that feverishly hot mouth.

His tongue was tossed about and sucked until it felt slightly sore. Even when he finally managed to hide it a little, the somewhat rough surface of Pei Zhi’s tongue easily hooked it back out. Pei Zhi deliberately rubbed it with the edge of his teeth, filling the space between them with an unmistakably suggestive air.

It was a very indecent way to kiss.

Xie Ning felt both embarrassed and ashamed, yet his skin hunger made it feel so good that his face unconsciously took on a dazed expression. Broken little sounds spilled out from him. “Mm…”

The edge of the hood loosened slightly. In the dim light, Xie Ning could see Pei Zhi’s face—still just as cold and difficult to approach as ever, yet his eyes were full of deep obsession and feeling, holding Xie Ning’s reflection in them.

For a moment, Xie Ning was stunned by being looked at with such tender intensity.

But very quickly, Pei Zhi stopped being gentle again.

With Xie Ning’s lips between his own, Pei Zhi sucked hard and deliberately ground against the tender flesh inside his mouth, using enough force that it felt as if he wanted to chew Xie Ning up and swallow him whole, turning the two of them into one.

His lips were kissed into a swollen red. His entire mouth was numb and aching. Even his eye sockets began to burn. Xie Ning could not help hunching his shoulders as he tried to hide, a sob catching in his throat—only to be swallowed by an even deeper kiss.

Xie Ning liked it, but he was also a little afraid. Pei Zhi’s abnormal reaction made him uneasy. Everything felt as though it was spiraling out of control. When he felt as though he could no longer breathe, he swiftly pulled his tongue away and turned his head. “Wait… mmph!”

The wet sounds of kissing kept sounding at his ear. No sooner had his saliva been swallowed than more was fed back into him. Through the wet kiss, he tried to speak, his words coming out blurred. “Don’t… hah, he, he’ll see!”

“He won’t see.” Pei Zhi pinched Xie Ning’s lower jaw, and with the slightest pressure, forced his mouth open again. His scorching tongue slid back into his mouth, returning to familiar territory and ferociously swallowing every sound until only faint whimpers were left.

“No…” Xie Ning said in broken fragments. “Hot…”

Pei Zhi wrapped one hand forcefully around Xie Ning’s face. Under his defined brow bone, his lowered gaze looked fiercely invasive. With his other hand, he hastily undid Xie Ning’s scarf and tossed it onto the roof of the car. Then he pinned Xie Ning’s hands above his head and pressed him down against the car in a deep kiss.

His burning breaths, tinged with a faint smell of alcohol, spread between their lips and teeth. The smell of Pei Zhi himself was overwhelmingly strong, making it feel as though Xie Ning were trapped in the arms of some beast. Unsteady on his feet, Xie Ning could only lean against the car door for support. One hand was free, but he could not push Pei Zhi away and instead hung it uselessly by his side.

His fingers slowly rubbed against the car window, the heat of his skin fogging the smooth glass with faint finger marks. Yet even that hand was captured by Pei Zhi and pressed against Pei Zhi’s own waist, creating the illusion that Xie Ning was holding him.

The night air was cold, but their lips and tongues were astonishingly hot. Their lips kept grinding and sucking against each other, the heat seeming to seep all the way into flesh and blood. The blazing body heat and that intimate embrace overfed Xie Ning’s skin hunger until his mind grew hazy.

Because it felt so good, Xie Ning kept making soft nasal sounds. Paired with the slightly pained expression on his face, the effect was devastatingly alluring.

The sticky sounds of kissing never stopped. Xie Ning kept swallowing his saliva over and over, yet no matter how much he swallowed, more and more kept slipping out at the corners of his mouth.

He was running out of air again. He was about to be kissed breathless. Before he could suffocate, he tried to push Pei Zhi away, but Pei Zhi noticed and grew displeased.

Pei Zhi pulled Xie Ning tightly against him. When their lips finally separated, an ambiguous silver thread stretched between them.

Xie Ning had been kissed until he could no longer close his mouth, as though it had broken. A mixture of both their saliva streamed from the corner of his lips. Both of his hands pressed against Pei Zhi’s chest as he gasped in huge breaths.

Pei Zhi’s eyes darkened. He turned his head and bit down on Xie Ning’s neck, like a wild beast catching its mate to force a mark onto them. But in the end, he still retained a bit of reason. He did not bite very deeply, leaving only a shallow set of teeth marks.

Pei Zhi slowly licked over the marks at the side of Xie Ning’s neck. The rough surface of his tongue rasped over the tender skin, leaving a faint sting. Xie Ning’s cheeks were flushed red. Tears brimmed in his eyes, fine beads of moisture clinging to his lashes. The skin around his lips had been rubbed into a soft pinkish white, and his mouth was swollen far too much.

So pitiful.

So cute.

Xie Ning was weak all over, practically hanging from Pei Zhi’s body.

Taking advantage of it, Pei Zhi gathered him into his arms. He buried his face in the crook of Xie Ning’s neck and took deep, greedy breaths, sniffing hard. His face still carried the look of someone overstimulated, overexcited. He breathed in a restrained, uneven way, his eyes clouded with desire.

For some reason, Pei Zhi especially liked the way Xie Ning looked when the corners of his eyes were wet with tears and his eye rims were red. Xie Ning’s tears always excited him. His Adam’s apple moved involuntarily. Tilting his head slightly, he stuck out his tongue and licked Xie Ning’s earlobe.

When he felt Xie Ning shiver, he continued kissing his ear in a slow, sticky way. Then he gently bit down on Xie Ning’s earlobe and said in a low voice, “Your class is over, and my training’s stopped too. Neither of us has anything left to do now, so tonight…”

“Let’s get a room?”

He hurriedly gets up, throws out a quick “I have something to do, I’m leaving first,” and rushes away.Behind him comes Pei Zhi’s inner voice:“…Did he realize I like him?”Xie Ning flees in a panic.Later, Xie Ning’s craving for physical contact becomes more and more serious. On another rainy day, he returns to the dorm and hears the door lock behind him.Pei Zhi corners him, looking hurt. “Are you avoiding me?”In the confusion, Xie Ning raises a hand to push Pei Zhi away, but Pei Zhi catches his wrist instead. The instant their skin touches, all the strength leaves Xie Ning’s body. He can only lean weakly against Pei Zhi’s chest, breathing hard.Usually cold and distant, Xie Ning now has a beautiful face flushed deep red.Xie Ning’s secret is finally discovered. To help him, Pei Zhi willingly offers himself up—throwing an arm around his shoulders, hugging him, holding him close, and even washing up and climbing into bed on his own at night.Later still, when Pei Zhi learns that Xie Ning can hear his thoughts, he pins both of Xie Ning’s wrists above his head and asks in a hoarse voice, “What am I thinking right now?”Xie Ning presses his lips together and says nothing. He cannot bring himself to say it…But that is fine. Pei Zhi will coax the answer out of him. When it comes to Xie Ning, he has endless patience.
