Doomsday Grocery Store – CH301

Chapter 301

So, Tang Yu’an put away the luminous green boat and, at Chi Yan’s invitation, sat on top of his head.

Chi Yan even thoughtfully gave them two strands of dragon whiskers to hold onto, to prevent them from falling during the journey.

The space between the dragon’s two horns was at least five meters wide—Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi could lie down comfortably, and the slope wasn’t steep at all.

Rounded up, they were basically riding a dragon’s head and tugging its whiskers!

Tang Yu’an’s eyes sparkled with excitement.

Zhou Qi, on the other hand, was quietly observing the other dragon, Yan Lie. The pressure Yan Lie had released earlier had been so intense that even with Zhou Qi’s current strength, he could barely withstand it.

If Chi Yan hadn’t shown up in time, their only hope would’ve been those magical marbles…

Yan Lie, meanwhile, clearly didn’t understand what Chi Yan meant.

Miniature merchants? How could such tiny humans possibly sell things dragons could even use?

And why was Chi Yan being so attentive to these two tiny people? Not only letting them ride on his head but also play with his whiskers?

Yan Lie couldn’t make sense of it—but was thoroughly shocked.

Still, the situation was urgent and didn’t allow time for explanations. Under Chi Yan’s urging, Yan Lie quickly led the way.

Heat waves blasted toward them as they moved forward.

Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi held tightly onto the dragon whiskers to avoid being blown away by the hot winds, while the little red bird had already hidden inside Tang Yu’an’s coat pocket.

Thankfully, they had their purple-red sun-protective clothing and clothes made from regular-temp fabric, so they didn’t feel unbearably hot.

The two dragons swam one after the other and soon passed through a massive tunnel into another cavern.

This cave was even larger than Chi Yan’s own lair, and there were actually plants growing on the rocky walls.

Tang Yu’an looked around in wonder—plants growing in such an environment? He couldn’t help but admire the tenacity of life.

Aside from the plants, there were also small creatures moving about.

That made sense—dragons needed food too. Without other organisms, they wouldn’t survive.

Suddenly reminded of something, Tang Yu’an asked, “Chi Yan, what about your dragon egg? Will it be okay while we’re gone?”

“Haha, thanks for your concern,” Chi Yan replied. “But no worries—I’ve already set up protective measures. As long as we’re back within a day, it’ll be fine.”

“That’s good,” Tang Yu’an nodded.

About an hour later, Yan Lie suddenly picked up speed, and Chi Yan quickly followed.

Ahead, a platform came into view. Two fire dragons burst out from the lava and flew above it.

From their high perch on the dragon’s head, looking down at the lava and the platform, Tang Yu’an suddenly realized—dragons can fly!

Probably because of the cramped underground space, they’d been swimming this whole time instead of flying.

As for that platform…

Tang Yu’an found the material familiar and immediately opened his identification skill bubble—and sure enough:

The entire platform was made of fire crystal stone!

Tang Yu’an’s eyes lit up.

How many points would that be worth?! He couldn’t help swallowing a bit of saliva.

Still, remembering the endangered baby dragon, he quickly pushed the greedy thoughts aside and focused on the center of the platform.

There, in the middle, was a pit filled with searing lava—and a three-to-four-meter-long baby dragon floating weakly on its surface.

Its eyes were closed, its body limp.

“Where’s Wen Ya? Why isn’t she here?” Chi Yan asked, seeing only the baby dragon.

“She’s on her way back,” Yan Lie sighed. “I don’t know why the child hatched early. It should’ve still had one more purple moon cycle…”

“Since it came out, it hasn’t looked well. I sensed something was wrong, so I hurried to find you.”

Yan Lie looked at Chi Yan with hope. “You said earlier you had a solution—is that true?”

Chi Yan furrowed his brows. “I can only try. It’s premature—worse off than my own little Shuo when he was born.”

Little Shuo must be Chi Yan’s own early-hatched child.

“Please,” Yan Lie begged, “whatever it takes—save my child!”

Chi Yan nodded and first had Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi get down from his head. Then he spat something out of his mouth—it was the thermos Tang Yu’an had given him earlier.

He opened the thermos, and a surge of pure life energy flowed out.

Feeling the energy, the despair in Yan Lie’s eyes slowly gave way to hope. “W-what is this?”

“Healing potion,” Chi Yan said. “I traded it from An An.”

Yan Lie glanced at Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi in realization. His aloof demeanor vanished, replaced with gratitude and a hint of flattery.

They even sold such precious potions?!

Under Chi Yan’s guidance, Yan Lie gently lifted the baby dragon. Together, they fed it the healing potion.

The faintly breathing dragon, upon hearing its father’s familiar voice, obediently opened its mouth and drank.

Meanwhile, Tang Yu’an secretly touched it with a Lucky Marble and quickly pulled back.

The marble was so tiny that neither dragon noticed it.

There were 20 liters of basic healing potion in total. Considering the baby dragon’s size, it wouldn’t need all of it.

Chi Yan only had it drink three gulps—about one-third of the total.

The potent life force of the potion surged into the baby dragon’s body, and its rapidly fading life signs slowed.

After a while, it peacefully fell asleep with its eyes still closed.

“Looks like the potion is working!” Chi Yan said excitedly.

Yan Lie sensed the child’s breathing strengthen, and tears of joy filled his eyes. “This is wonderful… so wonderful…”

Chi Yan comforted him. “It’s out of immediate danger. Newborns need a lot of rest—don’t disturb it. Just stay close and keep watch.”

“Yes, of course!” Yan Lie gently placed the baby dragon back into the lava pool—though it wasn’t really lava, but thick, fiery spiritual energy in liquid form.

Soaking in such a pool allowed young dragons to absorb fire essence and grow.

However, newborns had poor absorption and conversion abilities—one reason they were so fragile.

“As for the remaining potion…”

Chi Yan hesitated, then placed the thermos in front of Yan Lie. “The child may be stable now, but it’s not completely safe yet.”

“Keep the rest. If the symptoms return, give it more.”

Yan Lie looked at him gratefully—but also with concern.

If he kept the rest for his child, what about Chi Yan’s baby?

Chi Yan had clearly thought of that too and turned to Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi. “An An, you mentioned before—you still have more of this potion, right?”

“Yes! We’ve got plenty!” Tang Yu’an stepped forward quickly. “We can trade for more with fire crystals as usual.”

Chi Yan breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s great. Thank you both for coming with me. Is there anything you’d like in return?”

He had said before that there’d be a big reward once it was all over.

Though Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi didn’t technically do much, the potion was theirs—Chi Yan wanted to build a good relationship with these two miniature merchants.

Tang Yu’an thought for a moment and asked, “Can we build a house here?”

Even though it had only taken them two hours to arrive, they had hitched a ride on a dragon. On their own, it would’ve taken way longer.

In such a dangerous environment, it’s better to make use of teleportation arrays for travel as much as possible.

So, Tang Yu’an hoped to set up a branch here.

After all, the platform was so large, and even with two giant dragons coiled on it, there was still plenty of space.

Thinking that the entire platform was made of fire crystal stone, Tang Yu’an couldn’t help but secretly salivate.

Upon hearing his request, Chi Yan hesitated.

This platform wasn’t exclusively owned by Yan Lie. Every newborn dragon would come here to soak in the lava pool until they had passed their critical period and were strong enough to leave.

Chi Yan didn’t have the authority to promise anything.

However, Yan Lie spoke up. “A house? You mean like the ones humans live in? How big do you need it?”

Tang Yu’an gestured vaguely to indicate the size and area.

They just wanted to build a teleportation point here, so they didn’t need much space.

Seeing that the house they wanted to build was so small—spitting out a mouthful of saliva would be bigger than this house—Yan Lie nodded. “Okay, I’ll mark out a spot for you.”

Upon hearing this, Chi Yan quickly pulled him aside to discuss.

After hearing Chi Yan’s objection, Yan Lie rolled his eyes and said, “Are you stupid? They’re our honored guests now!”

“Not just our dragon children, but possibly those of other giant dragons too. They might need their potions.”

In addition to their own two, there were two more dragon eggs incubating.

“How many years has it been since any of our fire dragons had a newborn survive the early period? Now that we finally have hope, of course, we need to seize it!”

“Even if the clan leader were here, he’d agree.”

Chi Yan was quickly convinced by Yan Lie.

However, the spot they gave Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi was still relatively close to the edge of the area, several hundred meters away from the lava pool.

Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi understood and accepted the arrangement.

So, they successfully secured a small plot of land in the heart of the Fire Dragon clan’s territory.

Yan Lie was about to head back to check on his child when he saw that Chi Yan was still standing there, staring at the two tiny humans.

“Is there something else?”

“No, I just wanted to watch them build their house.”

“Why would there be anything interesting in watching them build a house?”

Yan Lie didn’t understand, but still couldn’t help looking a bit longer. Those two glances were enough to captivate him.

It wasn’t that anything was particularly interesting, but it was just… fascinating!

If not for worrying about the baby dragon’s condition, he would have liked to stay and watch a little longer—where did these two little creatures get all this stuff from?

Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi had gotten used to the dragons watching them. They kept busy, taking out construction robots and various materials to build their house.

But as they worked, Tang Yu’an kept feeling like he had forgotten something.

By the time half the house was built, he finally remembered—Hey, where’s the little red bird?

Several hundred meters away, near the lava pool…

“Chirp chirp~ chirp chirp chirp~”

The palm-sized little red bird hopped around the edge of the pool, pecking at fire crystal stones on the ground, and sometimes diving into the lava pool and splashing around.

Beside it, the newborn baby dragon was peacefully sleeping with its eyes closed.

The little red bird glanced at it, chirped, and flew onto the baby dragon’s head. It first gently pecked it.

When it got no response, it hopped down onto the dragon’s nose, and then used its tiny claws to pry open the baby dragon’s eyelids.

The little dragon, which had been peacefully asleep, was finally woken up.

It opened its eyes and saw a bright red, beautiful little bird. It was so adorable!

But the little red bird was startled and flapped its wings, flying up, even spitting out a tiny flame toward the baby dragon.

The little dragon didn’t get mad. Instead, it laughed happily.
