Allergic To Furry Things But Can Pet Them Mentally – CH105

Chapter 105

Giving catnip to Brother Xiao Han had been the system’s suggestion.

The system said that, as a feline, the little snow leopard would most likely go crazy for catnip.

Tang Rong had also secretly searched up catnip on his terminal. Its actual name was catmint, and it was not hard to grow, so he had quietly asked his family to buy him some seeds. He had successfully grown it himself without much trouble.

Now, seeing how much the little snow leopard loved the smell of catnip, Tang Rong felt both happy and deeply satisfied.

This was the little snow leopard’s first time ever coming into contact with catnip, and it was completely high on it. After Tang Rong set it down on the clean carpet, it kept rolling around, exposing its tummy, rubbing here and there, flicking its little tail back and forth, eyes half-squinted in bliss.

“Xiao Han really likes catnip,” Yun Jian said with a smile. “Just don’t let Dad and Grandpa smell it.”

But it was already too late.

Because of Tang Rong’s birthday plans, the other family members had all changed into their fluffy spirit-body forms early on. The moment they heard Shen Muhan had returned, they hurried over as well.

Before long, the little tiger and little lion were also rolling around on the soft carpet with the little snow leopard, bellies up.

By contrast, the little nine-tailed fox, little chinchilla, and little bird were much calmer.

The little nine-tailed fox was canine, the little chinchilla was a rodent, and the little bird was, well, a bird. None of them reacted much to catnip, and none of them understood why the others were so intoxicated by it.

Watching the scene with amusement, Yun Jian rested her chin on one hand and said to Tang Rong, “When I went on my first date with your dad, I didn’t wear perfume. On my college roommate’s suggestion, I used a little catnip essential oil instead. Thinking about it now, it was pretty funny.”

The little snow leopard, wriggling on the carpet, suddenly froze.

Catnip essential oil?

Tang Rong, meanwhile, tilted his little head up curiously and asked, “What was Dad’s reaction back then? Was he like this too?”

He absolutely loved hearing stories about his parents from the past. Back when Mom had not yet been brought back to life, Dad had never taken the initiative to talk about such things. The only exception had been during Truth or Dare on the hovercar. But after Mom came back, Tang Rong had been hearing more and more about their past, and every story was especially fun.

Yun Jian scooped the little lion up from the carpet into her arms, shook her head, and answered, “He was in human form then, and he was so reserved. He only dared to hold my hand. He really liked how I smelled, and he wanted to kiss me but didn’t dare.”

“Meow-woo.” The little lion shyly flattened its little ears and buried its face in its wife’s arms.

Hearing that, Yun Jian tapped a finger lightly on its head and scolded, “I’ve been meaning to say this for a long time. You’re a lion, so why do you meow like a cat every day?”

A lion’s cry should be “aowu aowu,” not “meowu meowu.”

“Lion?” Tang Rong tilted his head in confusion.

The little lion’s body suddenly stiffened. Oh no. It seemed it had never actually made it clear to the little cub that it was not a cat, but a lion… It had gotten too used to meowing and had never broken the habit, so the little cub had always thought it was a cat. Meeting her own baby’s puzzled gaze and feeling the stiffness in the little lion in her arms, Yun Jian belatedly realized what had happened.

She asked, “Little treasure, what kind of animal did you think Dad was?”

Tang Rong answered honestly, “A kitty.”

Then he added, “An orange cat.”

He knew that orange-colored cats were generally called orange cats. Yun Jian burst out laughing and lifted the guilty little lion in her arms. “So you’re an orange cat, huh?”

The little lion: “…Aowu.”

Tang Rong was not a silly cub. Seeing the scene before him, he quickly pieced everything together, widened his eyes, and puffed out his little mouth. “Dad lied to me.”

The little lion curled its tail guiltily and hurried to squirm free of his wife’s arms so it could go soothe its cub. Tang Rong deliberately turned his head away and refused to look at it.

“Aowu aowu.” The little lion was frantic. In the end, the little lion turned into a big lion and took the whole family for a ride around nearby before it finally managed to coax the little cub into forgiving him.

As dusk fell, the little snow leopard changed back into human form and put on the special little birthday hat that had been prepared just for him. All the lights in the room had been turned off, and only the candles on the cake cast a soft, warm glow.

The cake had been made by Shen Yuchun himself. It was beautiful, and on top sat an adorable little snow leopard made of chocolate. Although it could not compare to the cakes made by top pastry chefs at the royal banquet earlier that day, Shen Muhan loved it.

The other fluffy spirit bodies had not changed back, because Tang Rong felt that being surrounded by so many fluffy creatures made everything feel like a beautiful fairy tale, which suited the atmosphere perfectly. Shen Chuanqiong and Han Zhi had also finally finished dealing with matters on the royal side and hurried over just as night fell.

They both had spirit bodies too. Shen Chuanqiong’s was a black panther, and Han Zhi’s was a white finch. Because of their identities, they rarely changed into those forms. Tang Rong got to happily pet some brand-new fluffy creatures again. This was Tang Rong’s very first birthday. Back on the garbage planet, life with Grandma had only ever been enough to survive.

Even though it was not his own birthday, everything still felt wonderfully new to him. He had followed Brother Xiao Hu around for quite a while learning how to sing the birthday song. He did not have much talent for singing, but he was not tone-deaf either, so he had learned the simple tune fairly well.

Along with the music and the chorus of little animals chirping, yipping, growling, and peeping, Tang Rong, his mother, and Brother Xiao Chun sang Happy Birthday to the little boy wearing the birthday hat. The birthday celebration in this small room was nowhere near as grand as the royal banquet earlier that morning, but Shen Muhan felt that compared to now, the royal banquet had been lacking by far, far too much. He closed his eyes in front of the cake and silently made a wish with utmost sincerity.

“I hope Little Rong will become my wife in the future.”

Then he opened his eyes and, under the gaze of all those watching eyes, quickly blew out the candles.

After the lights were turned back on, it was time to cut the cake. Shen Muhan deliberately gave the chocolate snow leopard on top of the cake to Tang Rong. Tang Rong loved sweets. After eating the chocolate snow leopard, he went on to eat quite a bit more cake, until even some cream got smeared on his face, making him look like a little tabby cat. Seeing that, Shen Muhan dipped a finger into some cream and quickly smeared it onto Tang Rong’s nose. Tang Rong blinked blankly for a moment, then reacted. He dipped his own finger in cream and retaliated, drawing a pair of whiskers on Shen Muhan’s face.

Soon the room was once again full of laughter. That night, Shen Chuanqiong and Han Zhi did not return home, but stayed overnight at the Tang family residence to sleep with the little birthday boy. They had always felt guilty toward their son. Because of his condition, they had been unable to raise him by their side. In the past, they could only keep him alone in Eden, and now they could only temporarily entrust him to the Tang family. They were always too busy with one matter or another and could not come see him often.

Although their son was mature, independent, and sensible, and rarely caused them worry, it was not only crying children who deserved candy. Well-behaved, sensible children made their hearts ache even more. They planned that once Shen Muhan grew a little older and his condition stabilized, they would bring him back to live with them.

The two children were about the same age, so they could be arranged into the same school and same class. That way they could still see each other during the day, while returning to their own homes at night and visiting each other often on weekends. But that was all for the future. They would think about it after virtual kindergarten graduation.

Upstairs, the two adults pushed the two little cubs—both of whose faces had been smeared into little tabby-cat patterns with cake cream—into the bathroom. Once they were washed clean, they could crawl into bed, listen to a bedtime story, and go to sleep. The two children first washed the cream off their faces at the sink.

While they were washing up, Han Zhi found the pajamas they would wear later, and Shen Chuanqiong filled the bathtub with water at just the right temperature. After washing his face, Shen Muhan glanced at the bathtub, suddenly grew hurried, and rushed out of the bathroom, only tossing over his shoulder, “Little Rong, you wash first.”

Tang Rong blinked in confusion, not knowing what he had gone off to do, but he obediently took off his clothes, tied up his hair, and climbed into the bathtub first with his toy duck.

“Quack.” The toy duck let out an adorable sound when he squeezed it.

Han Zhi, worried about her son, followed after him, only to see him hurry downstairs, grab a small pair of scissors, and head straight to the pot of catnip Tang Rong had given him. Carefully, he snipped off half the catnip leaves. Only then did Han Zhi realize what he was trying to do.

—Back when she used to bathe the little snow leopard, she would sometimes put fragrant flower petals into its little tub, calling it a “flower-petal bath.”

Holding the freshly cut catnip leaves in both hands, Shen Muhan hurried back to the bathroom, washed them at the sink, and then sprinkled them all into the bathtub where Tang Rong was soaking.
