Chapter 70: Virgin Bastard
What?
A virgin?
Who was a virgin? Huo Beixing?
He said they were slandering him, but who exactly was the one slandering whom here?
Hadn’t all those outrageous escapades in the past been things he’d done himself?!
And now he was saying he was a virgin?!
Who would believe that?
If this got aired, wouldn’t their paper’s credibility and the authenticity of their reporting be called into question?
But being stuck in his hands, they didn’t dare raise their voices.
The paparazzo trembled in Huo Beixing’s grip and carefully confirmed, “Can I really?”
Huo Beixing ground his teeth. “Of course you can! If I’m telling you to air it, then air it. Why are you talking so much nonsense?”
“But…”
Huo Beixing frowned, looking like he was about to fling him away the next second. “But what?”
The paparazzo said, “It just… doesn’t look like it.”
“……”
Huo Beixing froze for two seconds, then his jaw tightened. “What did you just say?!”
Paparazzo: ……
H-help!!!
Small, weak, helpless… but with a loose mouth.
Huo Beixing was tall and long-legged, with shoulders as broad as the Pacific. Looking down from above, his face was hard to see clearly, making him seem like some living King of Hell ready to skin the man alive.
Seeing that Huo Beixing was holding the paparazzo one-handed and looked seconds away from inflicting unilateral violence, Zhao Ningzhuo, as the best of friends, hurried over to stop him.
Like he was in a tug-of-war, he hauled the paparazzo out of Huo Beixing’s hand. “Sorry, he was talking nonsense. Don’t take it seriously. How could that be? Your paper’s very safe. Don’t listen to him rambling nonsense. It definitely won’t go under tomorrow.”
The paparazzo let out a breath of relief.
Zhao Ningzhuo added, “At the earliest, it’d take a week.”
Paparazzo: ……
You really know how to talk.
Looking at the paparazzo’s pale, frightened face, Zhao Ningzhuo thought that Huo Beixing already had a terrible reputation to begin with, and there were still media cameras rolling. Threatening people this openly was not good, not good at all.
He descended like a heavenly god, single-handedly blocking Huo Beixing and the paparazzo apart. In this moment, he was the savior, eliminating evil from the mortal world and preventing a vicious incident.
With mortal strength, rivaling the gods.
But in the very next second, Huo Beixing shoved him aside with one hand. “Hey, you—”
A casual push.
Two meters away.
The reporter muttered into the paparazzo’s ear, “What’s that dumb-looking rich second-gen doing?”
The paparazzo replied, “Trying to stop a chariot with a mantis arm.”
Zhao Ningzhuo: ……
I heard that!!!!
But once Zhao Ningzhuo was out of the way, the group was left fully exposed in front of Huo Beixing.
The paparazzi intended to hold fast to their professional principles. There was no way they were going to broadcast something as obviously fake as Huo Beixing is a virgin. Why had they entered this profession in the first place? Out of love for the field, passion, dedication—
Huo Beixing took out a bank card.
The paparazzo immediately pulled out a little notebook. “President Huo, would ‘pure virgin’ work?”
To hell with passion.
Huo Beixing’s alcohol-dulled eyes swept over the words in the paparazzo’s notebook. He wore a shirt and suit trousers, his hair combed back, his legs long and straight. He raised a hand and rubbed his sharp jawline, looking at the word pure. “That’s the style that’s popular these days?”
The paparazzo nodded eagerly. “Of course. That kind of thing is exactly what little girls and little boys are into now.”
Like he was signing a contract, Huo Beixing said, “Fine. Then we’ll go with that.”
The paparazzo said, “Then after the report goes out tomorrow, I’ll buy you a trending topic too.”
Huo Beixing patted him on the shoulder. “Good work.”
The paparazzo asked, “Then President Huo, do you need us to record another video or something for you?”
Huo Beixing thought that would be too much trouble. “Just use the one from before.”
The paparazzo’s heart leapt with joy. Great—then the earlier video had been something Huo Beixing forced them to air, which basically counted as coercion. They had been compelled, after all. That way it wouldn’t damage their professional reputation.
Seeing things were finally settled on Huo Beixing’s end, Zhao Ningzhuo quickly called for a designated driver, and the two of them together hauled Huo Beixing away.
But honestly, Huo Beixing was pretty heavy. Zhao Ningzhuo dragged him along.
The designated driver heard a faint, continuous muttering.
Zhao Ningzhuo wore a numb expression, repeating the same two words over and over:
“Bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard bastard…”
Designated driver: ……
At eight o’clock sharp the next morning, the paparazzi posted the video from the underground parking garage of Huo Beixing online.
The video title read:
Shock! The fusion of a pure virgin and a married coquette.
Before the paparazzi even got around to buying a trending spot for Huo Beixing like he’d promised, the topic had already rocketed up the hot search rankings on its own.
In less than fifteen minutes since being posted, the video’s comments, shares, and likes had become astonishing.
“You’re so slutty.”
“OMG, OMG, OMG!!!”
“Damn it, I’m here in the front row and I can’t even find words.”
“This man has robbed me of speech. My dirty jokes are trapped in my chest.”
“What are you all so shocked about? The man in this video is obviously a pure virgin at first glance. He definitely wouldn’t take four or five companions to the beach to fool around.”
“Exactly, exactly. He just looks faithful. No philandering at all.”
“And he definitely wouldn’t keep having scandalous rumors with celebrities and traffic stars every other day. Everyone should trust him—he really is a virgin.”
“Although this is beside the point, this man is so handsome. He’s so handsome even when drunk!!!! (screaming)”
“After all these months, this man is still damnably handsome.”
“This isn’t something you can stare at too much. Virgins are from good families. Too many looks and you’ll ruin his reputation.”
“So none of you are going to say it? Fine, then I won’t say it either.”
“If he’s not saying it, then I won’t say it either.”
“So among all the civil and military officials of the court, not one dares to speak?!”
“I can’t hold it in anymore, I’ll say it! President Huo, sober up. Do you actually know what virgin means? And you even added pure.”
“I don’t know why, but President Huo just gives off a very… indecent vibe.”
“Am I the only one focusing on the fact that he said he’s married, but still a virgin?”
“Am I the only one who noticed he got married? Am I the only one who noticed he got married? Am I the only one who noticed he got married? Am I the only one who noticed he got married?!?!?!”
“Holy shit! I just realized—he’s married! He actually got married! Who is it?! Who’s the marriage partner?!”
“Someone who could make President Huo settle down and marry—I won’t be able to sleep until I know who that person is.”
“And didn’t you all notice? If he’s getting divorced, then it means President Huo’s wife seems to not want him anymore hahahaahahahahahahahahahaha.”
“The person above is laughing way too loudly. That’s so wicked… but… I like it hahahahahahahaha.”
“This is breaking news. Somebody dumped President Huo, and President Huo got drunk and threatened paparazzi into saying he’s a virgin. Huo Beixing, you are so slutty.”
“To be honest, I never thought President Huo would have a day like this, but it feels so good, it really feels so good. Sure, President Huo is trash, but a handsome scumbag is still a handsome scumbag. The fact that someone like that can’t get over someone—I’m dying to know who it is.”
“Secretary Wang, three minutes. I want the full file on President Huo’s marriage partner.”
“Wait, if he really gets divorced, then President Huo will be a second-marriage man. Eww~~~”
“Eww~~~”
“Eww~~~~”
“‘I’m married, but I’m a virgin.’ Good lord, did they not even let President Huo touch them? Hahahahahaha.”
“Everyone stop laughing. This is President Huo’s karma.”
After being told by Lin Jiu to go look at the news first thing in the morning, An Yi stared at the hot-search video on his phone and fell silent for several seconds.
As for the online doubts surrounding Huo Beixing, An Yi could only say that he didn’t believe it either.
Still, he had to admit that Huo Beixing going shameless enough to say something like that right in front of the media really had surprised him.
An Yi stretched lazily as he got out of bed, then after washing up, he planned to go out and throw out the trash. The moment he opened the door, though, he felt like he had bumped into something.
Looking down, he saw Huo Beixing sitting outside his front door with his eyes closed.
An Yi jumped in fright, then quickly crouched down to check whether Huo Beixing had been hurt.
After all, he had used a fair bit of force opening the door just now.
At that moment, a weak, half-dead voice sounded from the side. “Stop looking. He’s not hurt.”
An Yi: ?
Zhao Ningzhuo slowly came around from the back staircase. “The one who got hurt was my head.”
An Yi: ……
Well, sorry about that.
Seeing An Yi’s shocked expression, Zhao Ningzhuo explained, “He threw a drunken fit last night and insisted on coming to find you, so I brought him.”
An Yi said, “Then he should be sober by this morning.”
Huo Beixing’s eyelashes trembled.
An Yi looked at Zhao Ningzhuo. “Then take him back.”
Zhao Ningzhuo answered in an exaggerated tone, “He’s such a huge guy, heavy as a ju— ahem, heavy as hell. How am I supposed to take him back?”
An Yi blinked. “By taking him back the same way you brought him here, of course.”
Zhao Ningzhuo: ……
Damn, that was actually very logical.
Looking at Huo Beixing playing dead on the ground, Zhao Ningzhuo suddenly felt at a loss. Why exactly was he even here, exhausting his heart and soul over these two people’s love life?
Seeing that Zhao Ningzhuo had nothing to say, Huo Beixing stopped pretending. He stood up from the ground and took the trash bag from An Yi’s hand.
Zhao Ningzhuo: ?
So even when he was leaving, he still had to help the guy take out the trash.
This man. Love him, love him.
The next second, Zhao Ningzhuo found another trash bag shoved into his own hand.
Zhao Ningzhuo: ……
No fun at all.
You bastard, I’m acting as your love-life bodyguard, and you’re really treating me like a building doorman now!
Without waiting for An Yi to react, Huo Beixing grabbed him and pulled him inside, then shut the door behind them with one swing.
As Zhao Ningzhuo went downstairs to throw out the trash, he got a message saying Huo Beixing had transferred him a parcel of land.
This bastard at least had a shred of conscience.
An Yi looked at Huo Beixing, who had barged in without permission, and blocked his way so he couldn’t go any further inside. He put on a stern face. “Get out!”
The rogue spirit rose in Huo Beixing. “No.”
“If you don’t leave, I’m going to scream!”
Huo Beixing lowered his eyes and looked at him for a few seconds.
An Yi: ?
“Then I’ll only get more excited.”
An Yi: ……
Little Frog stamped his feet in anger. “There’s not one pure thing about you.”
“Who says?”
“The media used to. Your scandalous gossip said so.”
“All of that was slander. I’m a virgin.”
“What are you using to prove that?!”
“I can’t prove it, but I really am a virgin.”
The mouth of a man was the mouth of a liar. An Yi wasn’t buying it.
He pursed his lips. “I’m not going to believe you.”
Looking at the little expression on An Yi’s face, Huo Beixing found it unbearably adorable.
“All the past rumors with those people were fake. I didn’t want to take over the company, but there were people in the family stirring things up behind the scenes, so I had to act with a bunch of different people and ruin my own reputation a little. Only once my name in the company was bad enough could I get out of the succession struggle.”
Huo Beixing spoke sincerely. As he spoke, he bent down until he was eye level with An Yi, making sure An Yi could see directly into his eyes. “Really, An Yi. I’m not lying to you.”
“If you don’t believe me, I can call over all those people I only acted with before and let them prove it for you.”
An Yi’s brows twitched. “I’m not seeing them.”
Though he kept saying he didn’t believe him, he couldn’t help turning Huo Beixing’s words over in his mind.
After thinking for a moment, Huo Beixing said, “There’s still one other way to prove it.”
Curious, An Yi asked, “What way?”
The man lowered his head and spoke by his ear.
An Yi felt a rush of heat at the roots of his ears and immediately stumbled back several steps.
Huo Beixing blushed a little too, then turned his head and pretended to look off into the distance.
“That way proves it the most directly.”
The shock to An Yi’s senses was almost complete. “How can you talk about something like that so casually?!”
If this were back in his village, people would be pointing fingers at his spine over it.
Huo Beixing said, “I’m not being casual. I’m only saying that to you because I like you, because I love you.”
An Yi was utterly unconvinced. Little Frog went on full alert and decided Huo Beixing was basically no better than a thug.
“You just wanna do me.”
Huo Beixing’s ears flushed uncontrollably. He licked his somewhat dry lips, afraid An Yi would think he wasn’t serious or respectful. “I don’t.”
“Yes, you do. You wanna do me, and then once you get tired of me you’ll dump me!”
Little Frog stood on the moral high ground and started pointing fingers at him.
“I wouldn’t dump you. You’re the one trying to dump me.”
Little Frog stabbed a finger at him. “Turning the tables.”
Huo Beixing: ……
“It’s you who used to fool around everywhere. That’s why I don’t want you.”
Huo Beixing nearly wanted to pull him into his arms right then and there, but one hug like that might ruin the whole future path he was trying to salvage, so he forced himself to hold back.
“I’m not lying to you. I really haven’t slept with anyone, and I won’t fool around anymore in the future. I won’t find people to put on an act with either. If you don’t want me going out, then I absolutely won’t go out.”
Huo Beixing was a full meter ninety, yet in front of An Yi he didn’t even dare stand up straight. He lowered himself and coaxed him softly.
But An Yi wasn’t falling for it. Men’s lies were still just lies, and just now he had clearly wanted to do him.
Trying to defend himself, Huo Beixing said, “What I said just now was wrong, but it also wasn’t wrong.”
An Yi looked at him being so self-righteous and was utterly horrified.
Huo Beixing reached out and took hold of An Yi’s shoulders. “We’re husbands. What is there that we can’t do? It’s just conjugal duty.”
“We’re getting divorced.”
“We haven’t yet. Just treat it like sleeping with me once.”
An Yi wavered a little. Judging by Huo Beixing’s looks and body, it wouldn’t exactly be a loss, but he still felt deeply resistant, if only because he didn’t know how either.
“An Yi, I like you. I really like you.”
In the next second, An Yi felt a rough bite land on his lips.
He stared in shock and hurriedly tried to block him with his hand, but couldn’t stop him at all. Huo Beixing kissed like a big dog gone wild, all over the place, and being tall and broad, there was no pushing him away. It took a long while before An Yi finally managed to hold him back.
Cradled in Huo Beixing’s arms, An Yi’s breathing was slightly disordered. Seeing the infatuated look on Huo Beixing’s face, he blushed hard and refused to look at him, hastily trying to draw a boundary between them.
“Even if you kissed me, I still won’t take responsibility for you.”
