After Faking Amnesia Ex-husband Shows Up At The Door – CH70

Chapter 70

The next day, Xia Fengsheng went to class as usual, sitting in the classroom and taking notes.

From the outside, he looked no different than usual.

Because—

Xia Fengsheng: “:)”

That was an act.

Thank god that dog hadn’t shoved the whole thing in yesterday. If it had gone all the way in, he would have split clean down the middle.

Yesterday, in the living room, Xia Fengsheng had originally planned to take it slow. After all, the internet had said that the first time made it easy to get hurt.

Just when he was undoing Shi Ye’s waistband, the other man turned around to face him.

Xia Fengsheng’s face heated up, and he reached out to cover his eyes.

If Shi Ye kept looking at him like that, he would not be able to do this.

Who knew Shi Ye would take his hand away from his eyes and ask innocently, “Am I the one on the bottom?”

Xia Fengsheng: ?

What else would it be?

You’ve got erectile dysfunction and you still want to be on top? Wasn’t that a bit too much of a pipe dream? Xia Fengsheng secretly found him adorably stupid—until he looked down and saw…

Xia Fengsheng: …

In that single second, sweat broke out all over his forehead.

His throat went hoarse, and his usually elegant, gentlemanly composure slipped. “Who told you to get hard?!”

Shi Ye: ???

Xia Fengsheng instinctively took a step back.

Wasn’t he impotent?

No. Calm down.

Xia Fengsheng steadied his breathing. Just because Shi Ye could get hard did not necessarily mean Xia Fengsheng had to be the one underneath.

This concerned the quality of his future life. Xia Fengsheng was not about to compromise.

For the sake of personal safety, he was absolutely not going to be the one on the bottom.

Shi Ye looked a little hurt. “You don’t like it?”

Xia Fengsheng froze, then blinked. “That’s not it.”

It was just… a little unexpected.

Shi Ye turned away and muttered, “Let’s just do it this way. I won’t let you see the front of me.”

Xia Fengsheng placed a hand on his shoulder. “That’s not what I meant.”

Shi Ye turned back to look at him, pouting. “Then what did you mean? You were so fierce. It really looked like you didn’t like it.”

For a moment, Xia Fengsheng also felt that he had been in the wrong. For something this intimate, his attitude really shouldn’t have been so bad. He should have been gentler.

So he stiffly forced out the explanation.

“That’s not it. I just always thought you had erectile dysfunction. I didn’t expect you to be able to…”

Yet the moment he said it, Shi Ye looked even more wounded.

“If I tell you I’m not impotent, you don’t believe me. But when Qi Qianli says I am, you believe him.”

Xia Fengsheng stared at him, dumbfounded.

Shi Ye slumped across the sofa, looking wounded. The invisible dog ears and big tail Xia Fengsheng always saw on him seemed to droop right down.

Xia Fengsheng could not help but feel bad. He crouched beside the sofa to coax him. “I never said I didn’t like it…”

Seeing that Shi Ye still looked upset, Xia Fengsheng gritted it out. “I’ll be on the bottom.”

Shi Ye shot upright. “Really?”

Xia Fengsheng’s smile froze. Looking at Shi Ye’s face, which clearly had no tears on it, he realized he had been played. A dangerous gleam rose in the foxlike eyes.

At that moment, both of them seemed to realize the same thing—

If either one wanted to be on top, the only way was to fight for it.

Ambition and competitiveness stormed their brains, and shyness was the first thing thrown out the window.

In an instant, the two of them were grappling in the living room.

Thinking back on it now, Xia Fengsheng only felt a nameless rage.

At the time, all their clothes had still been fully on, only their pants unfastened. In their scramble to claim the top position, each of them had been trying to pin the other down.

And then, in the middle of the chaos…

Xia Fengsheng raised a hand and swept the memory out of his mind.

Anyway, the egg had only gone in for a little while before it came back out. If it had stayed in any longer, Shi Ye would probably have snapped in half.

He forced himself back to his notes. If he did not refocus now, Shi Ye might really end up ruined.

Class time ticked by minute after minute. When the professor launched into a story about his son studying abroad, Xia Fengsheng smoothly switched his computer screen to a recent stock market gain chart and began analyzing the data.

Graduation season was approaching, and whenever this time of year came around, the entire finance department at School of Management became shrouded in a kind of deathly stillness.

A faint pressure pressed down on everyone.

Some were suffering over their thesis.
Some were being held back.
Some were jumping off buildings.

Well, there had not been any jumpers in the last two years.

But soon enough, there would be.

Any student under Yang Liwan, as long as they had no backing and still had value, was doomed.

Only when he had squeezed every last drop of worth out of them, until they were utterly useless, would Yang Liwan let them go. Otherwise, escaping him was nothing but a fantasy.

A senior sister before them had traded away all the hard work of her academic career, surrendering her outstanding paper to someone else and only managing to graduate by taking a mediocre piece of writing in return.

And that had been after she had already been forced to delay graduation for a year.

The lecture ended. Xia Fengsheng packed up and prepared to leave.

Then—

Thud.

A heavy sound stopped the wave of students streaming toward the door.

Everyone turned.

Someone had collapsed in one corner of the classroom.

“Classmate, are you okay? Classmate? Classmate!” someone rushed over to check.

The fallen student had no color in his face at all. His body was cold. No matter how people called him, he did not respond.

“Is… is he dead?” someone asked in horror.

The next second, shrill cries broke out through the crowd.

“Call an ambulance!”

“He can’t really be dead, right?!”

“He’s still breathing! His body’s still moving!”

A tightly packed crowd was not good for the injured person, so everyone instinctively moved back, leaving enough air around him.

The man on the floor had a dark, ashen face and pale lips. The glasses he had been wearing had flown off when he fell. Even before passing out, he had not slept in a very long time. His body was gaunt, with deep dark circles under his eyes.

Xia Fengsheng looked at him.

He knew him.

Zhang Wangqing, a year senior to him in the finance department, and another student under Yang Liwan.

This summer was supposed to be his graduation season.

Zhang Wangqing’s collapse scared plenty of people. No one dared touch him, afraid that if they moved him wrong, they would worsen his condition. So they could only leave him lying there alone, waiting for the ambulance.

After three to five minutes, the ambulance still had not arrived. Zhang Wangqing slowly regained consciousness on his own. Curled up like a shrimp, he clawed his way off the floor.

His steps were unsteady. There was obviously no strength in him. He looked as light as straw, as though he could collapse again at any second.

Someone stepped forward and asked with concern,

“Classmate, are you okay?”

“Classmate, just hold on a little longer. The ambulance will be here soon.”

Zhang Wangqing’s expression was numb. He said nothing to anyone. He stood up and simply walked away.

In a daze, he went downstairs, planning to return to the dorm and eat something.

He had collapsed because his body was exhausted from days without sleep. He would be fine after eating.

He had not called home in a long time. Tonight, he really needed to phone his mother.

But if she asked about his studies, what was he supposed to say?

His thesis was gone.

He had planned to graduate and start at the company he had chosen, but now that graduation was delayed, everything had fallen apart.

He looked up at the sun overhead. It was so bright, yet the world felt utterly dark.

He did not even know where to place his feet, as if a thick fog had descended before his eyes and he had lost all sense of direction.

“Zhang Wangqing.”

A cool voice came from behind him.

Zhang Wangqing turned around.

It was Xia Fengsheng.

The two were not close. Zhang Wangqing stopped, his exhausted face showing all the weariness in the world. His voice came out hoarse.

“What is it?”

Xia Fengsheng strode over and held out his hand.

His glasses.

Zhang Wangqing took them, weakly saying, “Thanks.”

Xia Fengsheng’s long eyes looked at him steadily. He was not the sort who meddled in other people’s affairs, but he had more or less guessed what had happened.

His pitch-black eyes reflected Zhang Wangqing’s despairing face.

“The graduation paper Zhou Qiong published—that was yours, wasn’t it?”

Meanwhile, in the faculty office of the finance department, an argument had erupted.

“I did all the filthy, dirty work you wanted me to do! I wrote those competition papers for your contacts’ children! Why won’t you let me graduate?!”

“All these years, wasn’t what I gave you enough? The data, the first authorship I surrendered, the four SCI papers—wasn’t that enough?!”

Qin Buming was beyond furious. His hoarse roar made his fury impossible to miss.

This was the third year his graduation had been delayed.

He grabbed Yang Liwan by the collar. “Do you really think I wouldn’t drag us both down together?”

There were only the two of them in the office.

Yang Liwan was not frightened by Qin Buming in the slightest. Instead, he pried his hand away and kicked the documents Qin Buming had brought to the floor.

He was the advisor. Qin Buming was the student.

If he did not sign, if the system did not approve, if the paper was not allowed to be published, then even the gods themselves could not make Qin Buming graduate.

In the latter half of the year, there would be a major conference in the finance world, one attended by national-level figures. Everyone there would be somebody important. Yang Liwan had not become an associate professor at Jing University by accident.

But from last year until now, he had not produced any academic achievements worth noting. Releasing Qin Buming from under his hand right now was out of the question.

He laid it out like a bolt of heavenly punishment:

“If you don’t produce results, I will never let you graduate.”

As for Xia Fengsheng, his academic profile was not as strong as Qin Buming’s. Although his ability was outstanding, he was harder to control.

For the time being, Yang Liwan had no plans to pull him back under his thumb.

What more results did he want?

Year after year, had Qin Buming not given him enough already?

Qin Buming’s fists clenched. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll report you?”

“I know better than anyone the kind of filthy things you’ve done in academia. While squeezing me dry, you also instructed other students to tamper with academic data and publish it, misleading the public. Do you think just because no one says anything, no one knows?!”

Yang Liwan actually laughed.

He was not scared at all. Instead, he changed the subject.

“Qin Buming, do you really think I don’t know about you and your little group taking private jobs behind my back?”

Qin Buming snapped, “Work is our personal freedom. There’s no such thing as ‘behind your back.’”

Yang Liwan looked at the new edge in Qin Buming’s posture.

Before those side jobs, Qin Buming had not stood this straight.

“So you think that because you’ve earned some money from your own projects now, you can threaten me?”

Yang Liwan stepped in front of him. “When your teacher entrusted you with work, it was because he believed in you. Who would have thought you’d really start acting like I was useless.”

He patted Qin Buming’s rigid shoulder. “Made a few bucks outside and lost all sense of who you are.”

Forgot what it was like to work under him like an ox or a horse.

“You really think that just because you’ve made a little money and met a few people in the industry, you have power now? You think all these years I’ve been an associate professor at a top university for nothing?”

“You, some hotheaded little brat, think your connections can compare to mine?”

Yang Liwan laughed. “You just know a few merchants who stink of money. Do you know who I know?”

He lowered his voice, speaking into Qin Buming’s ear.

“Presidents of top domestic and international universities. Big figures in the business world. I’m even a listed CEO of a company. Do you think I only have connections in finance?”

“I don’t just know businessmen. I know politicians, police officers, hospital directors…”

“The money I’ve spent greasing palms is more than all the salt you’ve eaten in your life. You think I don’t know the same bosses you do? If push comes to shove, who do you think they’ll side with?”

“No one will help you for no reason. And newcomers like you come around every year. You’re worthless.”

Doing a few projects had clearly gone to Qin Buming’s head. He really did not know the height of the sky or the depth of the earth anymore.

“If I remember right, your father’s a laborer, and your mother’s a housewife, isn’t that right?”

Qin Buming whipped his head toward him.

Seeing the sweat rise at Qin Buming’s temples, Yang Liwan smiled.

“Why so nervous? It’s not like I said I was going to do anything to your parents.”

His eyes shifted, reading Qin Buming’s tension.

“But if you refuse to behave, that may not stay true.”

He kicked the documents on the floor toward Qin Buming’s feet.

“I’ll give you one more chance. Next week the school has a lecture forum. School leaders and students and faculty from other universities will all be there. Each teacher recommends one student to speak. I recommended you.”

“If you’ve thought things through, then that day you’ll get on stage with your speech and behave.”

“If you haven’t thought things through, I have plenty of ways to help you figure it out.”

Qin Buming was locked out of the office.

“Until you understand, I’ll teach you a lesson.”

He never said what kind of lesson.

But that very night, several clients Dawn Studio had been working with abruptly withdrew and announced they would no longer cooperate with the studio.

Some of them were not small companies either.

One evening, Qin Buming sat in the open-plan office of the studio, lost in thought, his chin covered in stubble.

Just one day after he had gone to see Yang Liwan, Xia Fengsheng and Zhan Shengyao had also started receiving notices that negotiations were being canceled and funding withdrawn.

In the space of just three days, every single business deal at Dawn Studio had fallen through.

Zheng Xing stared at the work that had flown away like cooked ducks. “What the hell is going on? Why is everyone suddenly pulling out?”

Qin Buming sat on the sofa with his head lowered, silent, as though he had nothing left to say.

“My computer files are all gone!” Zhan Shengyao rushed into the meeting room holding her reformatted laptop. Inside had been three months of her academic materials. Now they were all gone.

Not only hers—even the computer Xia Fengsheng kept at the studio was completely empty.

Xia Fengsheng looked at Qin Buming, still sitting there without saying a word. Storms churned in his eyes.

Zheng Xing went to check the surveillance footage. There was a stretch of missing footage.

And during the period when the footage had vanished, someone had tampered with Xia Fengsheng’s and Zhan Shengyao’s computers.

The key to the monitoring room had always been kept by Qin Buming. On the day the computer data was stolen, the cleaning staff had not come. Other than the four of them, no one had entered or left the studio.

At first, Zhan Shengyao had never once suspected Qin Buming, because the thought was simply too impossible.

She would rather have believed the place was haunted than think Qin Buming had touched their computers.

To her, Qin Buming had always been like an older brother. He had looked after them all the time, telling them to dress warmly when the weather turned cold, always acting like the grown-up in the studio—steady and dependable.

Even if the heavens themselves came crashing down, Zhan Shengyao would never have imagined it was him.

But that very night, after the files vanished, Xia Fengsheng and Zhan Shengyao each received an anonymous screenshot on their phones.

It was a screenshot of a chat between Yang Liwan and Qin Buming.

The content concerned stealing the data from the two of them.

The next day, the data from Zhan Shengyao’s computer appeared in a newly published industry column under Yang Liwan’s name.

Next came Xia Fengsheng’s.

One article after another—fruits of painstaking effort—became nourishment for Yang Liwan’s crimes.

Zhan Shengyao stormed up to Qin Buming in fury. “Why did you help him take the files? Why?!”

“Why? Say something! Say something!”

Qin Buming lowered his head and said nothing.

Xia Fengsheng looked at him coldly. “Senior.”

Qin Buming did not answer.

Xia Fengsheng: “You’re not that kind of person.”

But faced with the screenshots, Qin Buming offered no denial.

He had chosen silence, and silence became acquiescence.

Zhan Shengyao stared at him in disbelief, her eyes red, her pointing hand trembling. “Qin Buming! You—you…”

That day, Dawn Studio broke apart on bitter terms.

No one had imagined that a studio rising so promisingly would shatter like this.

And the mole had been Qin Buming, the very person who had led the dream from the start.

That night, Xia Fengsheng leaned against the headboard with a magazine in hand.

Thin-rimmed glasses sat on the bridge of his nose, making him look almost like a priest at prayer. His eyes were on the page, but he was not actually taking in a single word. His mind was in turmoil.

“Hmph.”

A huff came from beside him.

Xia Fengsheng ignored it.

“Hmph.”

Xia Fengsheng kept reading.

“Hmph hmph hmph.”

This time, Xia Fengsheng looked over at Shi Ye.

Shi Ye: “:D”

Xia Fengsheng: “Go back to your pigsty.”

Shi Ye: …

Ever since the egg incident, the two of them had not really gotten intimate again. And these past few days Xia Fengsheng had been swamped with work. Even after coming home, it was all work and assignments. He had been neglecting Shi Ye.

Tonight, after bathing, Shi Ye had even sprayed on some men’s cologne. He was all fragrant and firm.

Seeing Xia Fengsheng still staring at the magazine instead of at him, Shi Ye reached over and snatched it away.

Sure enough, without the magazine, Xia Fengsheng’s attention finally landed on him.

Shi Ye: OVO

[There’s a cut here.]

Seeing Xia Fengsheng finally looking at him, Shi Ye could not hold back any longer. He wrapped an arm around Xia Fengsheng’s waist, buried his face shyly in Xia Fengsheng’s neck, his fluffy head nudging against Xia Fengsheng’s chin.

“I want to.”

Xia Fengsheng did not understand. “Want what?”

Shi Ye blushed and whispered in his ear, “I want to do the egg thing.”

Since the last time, the two of them really were not as shy anymore, though they also had not been intimate since then.

When Xia Fengsheng recalled how it had felt, it was not as though there had been no pleasure at all. But…

“Not lately.”

Shi Ye looked pitifully up at him. “Why?”

Xia Fengsheng: “I’m busy lately. Wait until next week.”

There were too many things he had to deal with right now.

Shi Ye hugged him. “All right.”

Next week, then next week.

He wondered whether the next time they did the egg thing, they would still be shy. Last time, once it was over, the two of them had both been so awkward they avoided making eye contact for days.

A moment later, Shi Ye asked again:

“Then can it go all the way in?”

Xia Fengsheng glanced at him. “That depends on whether you’ve got the skill for it.”

At once, the bedroom fell deathly still.

One week later, at the lecture forum, Yang Liwan sat among numerous school leaders in the audience, watching the outstanding student speeches on stage.

The lecture hall was a huge stepped classroom, capable of holding over a thousand people. Along with school leaders and faculty and students from other universities, there were also many Jing University students present to listen in.

Soon it was the finance department’s turn.

The first speaker recommended by Yang Liwan was Qin Buming.

Since the forum had begun, Yang Liwan had not seen Qin Buming at all—but he was not worried in the least.

Surely by now Qin Buming had learned what his methods were.

The best way to destroy a team was to sow discord between its members.

By fabricating the appearance that Qin Buming had stolen other people’s computer files, he could make the team collapse from within.

Even if Qin Buming denied taking the materials, Yang Liwan had already forged evidence and arranged for it to be anonymously sent to Xia Fengsheng and Zhan Shengyao. Then he had quickly published the stolen work, hitting Qin Buming before he could defend himself.

Yang Liwan was a great fish.

Qin Buming was nothing but a shrimp scraping through the mud to survive.

The studio’s contracts? He only had to flex a little influence, and they vanished.

A few greenhorns just starting out actually wanted to fight him?

This time it was their team. Next time it would be Qin Buming’s parents.

Just as Yang Liwan had predicted, the long-absent Qin Buming appeared the very moment his speaking slot arrived, wearing a suit and standing on stage.

The second Yang Liwan saw him, a laugh bubbled up in his throat.

He had known it.

For all his bravado before, Qin Buming had still shown up.

Buming, bu ming—what a fitting name.

Any sound that tried to come out would be silenced.

Qin Buming stood on stage with a thick stack of speech pages in hand. He looked spiritless, like someone whose vitality had been sucked out.

He looked straight ahead, toward the sea of faces below.

“Hello, everyone. I am Qin Buming, a doctoral student from the Finance Department’s Huaguang School of Management.”

Yang Liwan leaned back in his seat, a satisfied smile on his face, raising his hands in applause.

One of the school leaders beside him remarked,

“Liwan, that’s your student, isn’t it?”

Yang Liwan nodded with a smile. “Yes. This child is quite outstanding.”

That was exactly why he had recommended Qin Buming to speak.

Of course, he had prepared two plans. If Qin Buming did not come, there would have been another student to replace him.

Yang Liwan settled back comfortably, waiting to hear what Qin Buming was going to say.

The next second, Qin Buming began reading from the script.

“The title of my speech today is: ‘Do Not Grow Numb.’”

A topic completely unrelated to the department.

Yang Liwan frowned.

What the hell was this kid trying to pull?

Qin Buming stood on stage, staring into the glaring white lights above.

People should not live numbly.

Just yesterday he had found the most powerful person among the connections he had made.

In the circles of power and profit, Qin Buming had always known his place and behaved with restraint. After founding the studio, he had met quite a few important people.

He knew that in such relationships, everyone was gathered by benefit. No one helped anyone for free.

Just as Yang Liwan had said, the people Qin Buming knew were also people Yang Liwan knew.

Between a top domestic university associate professor and a poor student who had only recently made a name for himself, the balance was obvious at a glance.

No one wanted to get dragged into the conflict between him and Yang Liwan, because it did not concern them personally.

But Qin Buming had reached the end of the road.

The moment Yang Liwan used his parents to threaten him, he understood just how bottomless that man’s limits were.

If he survived by bowing his head this time, there would only be even crueler oppression next time.

Sooner or later, his parents would be harmed because of one act of resistance from him.

So he found the most powerful person he knew and knelt on both knees before them, begging that if he failed, they would at least keep his parents safe.

He came from a poor little county town.

From childhood, he had been the best child there.

Neighbors, teachers, everyone around him had spoken only of praise and pride.

His family had been poor. The whole household survived off the wages his father earned through physical labor. His mother was a housewife. She had suffered health problems from giving birth to him and could not do heavy work, but she had doted on him in every possible way and never once blamed him for it.

Their money had been tight, but Qin Buming had grown up happy.

As a child, certificates covered every wall of their home.

His greatest dream had always been to make a name for himself and improve his parents’ lives.

The little boy he had once been used to point at those certificates on the wall and say to his mother, “Mom, just wait till I grow up and make big money. Then I’ll let you and Dad live in the best, biggest house.”

Children’s words were innocent, but Qin Buming never lied.

What he said, he meant.

Later, through his own hard work, he lived up to everyone’s expectations and got into Jing University for graduate school. His story spread through his high school, his middle school, even his elementary school.

People said that a genius had come out of that backward little county and ascended straight to the capital.

His parents and teachers were proud of him.

And he too had thought that once he got into Jing University, his dream life would begin, because he was only one step away from it.

So intoxicated had he been by the joy of getting in that he never realized that just beyond that step lay a bottomless abyss.

He became a tool under Yang Liwan, squeezed dry and enslaved. His achievements, his effort, his life’s work—taken one by one.

He had suffered, struggled, and refused to give up on himself.

He had clawed his way back upward from the pit and started over, founding a studio with friends and trying to build a new path.

But in the end, he had still been driven to the point where there was no road left.

He knew that if he said everything today, then he himself would be destroyed.

The twenty years of academic struggle he had put behind him would all be reduced to ashes.

The future would be black and uncertain.

But… somewhere, someone had to be foolish enough to do the right thing.

If he claimed he was speaking up for all the countless students who would suffer after him, Qin Buming lowered his head and laughed at himself.

He was not that noble.

Then let him do it for himself.

Qin Buming tightened his grip on the manuscript.

For the Qin Buming who had studied by lamp-light through bitter winters.
For the Qin Buming who had cried tears of joy when he learned he had gotten into graduate school.
For the child who once stood in front of walls full of certificates and promised his parents a better life.

He, Qin Buming, was Buming—one who could not keep silent in the face of injustice.

He lifted the microphone and looked out at the audience, straightening his back.

His spine would never bend.

He was still the pride of his parents and teachers.

“I, Qin Buming, hereby publicly and under my real name accuse Yang Liwan, associate professor of the Finance Department’s Huaguang School of Management, of academic fraud, abuse of power for personal gain, instructing students to tamper with academic data, coercing students into writing papers for high school academic competitions to strengthen his academic clique, and privately colluding with politicians and police, using criminal influence to threaten students’ family members and force students into serving him!”

The audience erupted instantly.

“What’s going on?”

“Holy shit! Is this an exposé?”

“My god! What is happening?!”

Yang Liwan shot to his feet.

What was this little bastard saying?!

Qin Buming continued, his voice ringing through the room:

“I, Qin Buming, hereby publicly and under my real name accuse Yang Liwan, associate professor of the Finance Department’s Huaguang School of Management, of academic fraud, abuse of power for personal gain, instructing students to tamper with academic data, coercing students into writing papers for high school academic competitions to strengthen his academic clique! The papers in my hand are the evidence…”

As he spoke, he flung the pages into the air.

White paper and black print filled the hall like falling snow—each page a grievance, each page a crime.

A scandal like this breaking out during a school forum was a complete disgrace to the university. Not only Yang Liwan, but the leaders seated below also sprang up, desperate to bring the chaos under control.

But Qin Buming’s speech had not ended.

He continued denouncing Yang Liwan’s crimes in a clear, ringing voice.

The school leaders shouted:

“Cut his microphone!”

“What are you standing there for? Get him down!”

“Quick! Quick!!”

The entire lecture hall descended into turmoil.

On stage, Qin Buming kept shouting,

“I, Qin Buming, hereby publicly and under my real name accuse— Ah!”

The microphone was ripped out. Security rushed onto the stage and slammed him down, clamping a hand over his mouth to stop him from speaking.

Qin Buming struggled desperately, trying to wrench the hand away, but more and more people surged onto the stage, blotting out everything around him.

One hand after another smothered his mouth, crushed his throat, and silenced any attempt he made to force a sound out.

His voice grew weaker and weaker, his cries unable to break free of the cage.

His body, still fighting, gradually lost its strength.

Was this how his desperate resistance was going to end…?

Qin Buming closed his eyes in despair as he looked at Yang Liwan below.

And then—

A loud voice rang out from the audience.

“I, Xia Fengsheng, together with Qin Buming and eleven other students, hereby publicly and under our real names accuse Yang Liwan, associate professor of the Finance Department’s Huaguang School of Management, of academic fraud, abuse of power for personal gain, instructing students to tamper with academic data, and coercing students into writing papers for high school academic competitions to strengthen his academic clique!”

What…?

Yang Liwan’s body jolted.

He turned around in shock.

There stood Xia Fengsheng high up among the tiered seats, a loudspeaker in his hand, staring straight at him as he repeated word for word:

“I, Xia Fengsheng, together with Qin Buming and eleven other students, hereby publicly and under our real names accuse Yang Liwan, associate professor of the Finance Department’s Huaguang School of Management, of academic fraud, abuse of power for personal gain, instructing students to tamper with academic data, and coercing students into writing papers for high school academic competitions to strengthen his academic clique!”

“The evidence is in my hand.”
