Chapter 62
The cool evening breeze brushed past his ears.
“Mr. Xia.”
Xia Fengsheng came back to himself. The driver had stepped out of the car for some air and, seeing Xia Fengsheng standing there by the roadside clutching a bottle of water and staring blankly into space, asked, “Mr. Xia, are you alright?”
Xia Fengsheng’s elegant, striking eyes held a frosty sharpness. A luxury watch gleamed on his pale left wrist, and his neatly trimmed fingers twisted the cap back onto the bottle.
“I’m fine. Let’s go.”
The driver opened the car door, and Xia Fengsheng got in.
The engine started, and the car moved steadily down the road.
Through the rearview mirror, the driver studied the young man in the back seat.
His employer had told him to make sure this man got home safely. He had heard that this Mr. Xia was highly capable, decisive in action, and extremely sharp in business.
Sitting upright in the back seat with his eyes closed, back straight as a ramrod, he carried himself with uncommon poise. From the moment the driver had met him, he had not once seen his shoulders bend. Legs crossed, temperament extraordinary—one look was enough to know he was no ordinary person.
Yet beneath that cold exterior, there was a sorrow in his brow that would not fade.
“Are you in a bad mood, sir?”
Xia Fengsheng opened his eyes.
The driver said, “How about I take you for a drive first, let you get some air? It might help.”
Xia Fengsheng refused coolly. “No need.”
The driver had been driving for this family’s business partners for twenty years. His driving was so smooth the car barely trembled. The gentleman in the back seat was about the same age as his son.
For someone that young to already radiate such formidable competence—he must have been through a great deal.
“Young people like you must be under a lot of pressure, I imagine.”
Xia Fengsheng remained silent, gazing out the window.
The driver took him on a short loop anyway. Once he saw his mood had eased a little, he finally headed for the destination.
When people were in a bad mood, it was best not to leave them alone.
At ten that night, Xia Fengsheng got out at the main entrance of the apartment complex. Outside cars were not allowed further in.
He walked to his building, stepped into the elevator, and pressed the button for his floor.
Just as the doors were about to close—
“Wait.”
A handsome hand blocked the elevator doors.
Shi Ye stepped inside.
He had not expected Xia Fengsheng to be in the elevator too. Seeing him, he smiled and greeted him, “What a coincidence.”
Xia Fengsheng did not answer. All he noticed was the perfume, strong and immediate.
Shi Ye stood behind him after entering, leaning against the handrail while idly playing with his phone.
The closed elevator doors reflected both their figures.
Xia Fengsheng wore a white dress shirt, dark blue suit trousers, and gleaming pointed leather shoes. When he walked, the dark gray socks hugging his ankles showed for a moment. His shirt was perfectly smooth, not a wrinkle in sight. Judging from the way it sat on him, he was probably wearing shirt stays at the thighs.
Shi Ye put his phone away and glanced at the floor numbers. When they were almost there, he straightened up. In the elevator door’s reflection, he noticed Xia Fengsheng’s slight frown, then lowered his head and sniffed at his own collar.
It was the scent he had picked up at the bar. A bit too strong.
“Sorry. The smell’s a little heavy.”
Xia Fengsheng ignored him. The moment the elevator doors opened, he walked straight out.
Shi Ye did not take his coldness to heart. He took out his keys and went into his place.
The moment he stepped inside, a message from a friend came through.
“Were you insane just now? That was humiliating.”
Shi Ye replied, “How was it humiliating? Don’t you use Pinduoduo?”
“Use my ass! If you hadn’t said it, I wouldn’t even know what that app was for. He was obviously trying to ask for your contact info. Why were you pretending to be stupid?”
Reading the message, Shi Ye pursed his lips. Why else?
Because he did not want to add him.
After leaving the studio, he had gotten a message about a friend’s birthday party. He had already sent the gift, but since his work had wrapped up, he had dropped by in person.
He had not stayed long. When he left, someone happened to be heading out too, so the two of them exited the bar together.
They had only gone a few steps when a voice suddenly called out from behind him.
A boy came up, face flushed, stammering, “Um… could I…”
Shi Ye almost instantly guessed what he wanted.
The boy twisted his posture, fingers nervously clutching at his clothes.
“Excuse me, could I…”
Shi Ye smiled brightly. “Help me with a Pinduoduo bargain cut? Sure.”
The boy: ???
—
After closing the door behind him, Xia Fengsheng stood in the entryway alone for a long while.
He had seen something unfamiliar in his own eyes.
The turmoil pressed down in the depths of his gaze. He went into the bathroom, then came back out in a robe and lay on the bed, fingers pressing against his brow, wide awake.
He told himself calmly that all he had to do was pretend not to see it.
That was how he had survived the previous seven years.
But now was different.
Unlike those seven years, they lived in the same building now. Any day, they might run into each other downstairs, in the elevator, or on the way home.
Seeing was far more painful than not seeing.
The perfect solution was simple: stop caring.
Realizing he was caring too much, Xia Fengsheng’s face turned frighteningly cold. He tossed his phone aside, pulled the blanket over himself, and forced himself to sleep.
They had already broken up.
Who Shi Ye slept with, who he got together with—that had nothing to do with him anymore.
And yet, by some cursed trick of fate, they kept running into each other.
On his way to work, he would run into Shi Ye coming back from his morning run.
After work, he would bump into Shi Ye returning home from his own work.
One morning, the elevator doors opened.
Shi Ye: “Morning.”
Xia Fengsheng: ……
The moment he saw him, a nameless anger rose in his chest.
—
“Has Sheng’er not been sleeping well lately?”
Through the blinds, Qin Buming looked over at Xia Fengsheng’s desk, where the air around him seemed covered in a gloomy, oppressive pressure.
Xia Fengsheng’s expression had been so cold these past few days that Qin Buming had barely dared speak to him.
Zhan Shengyao took a sip of her soda. “We’re in the middle of proposal handover. It’s normal to be stressed.”
Compared to Xia Fengsheng, Qin Buming—with the dark circles under his own eyes—looked much more like the one who had not been sleeping.
“But I’ve never seen him under pressure like this before. He’s even stopped napping at lunch.”
If you did not sleep during breaks, how could that do? The body was the foundation of everything.
Zheng Xing had also noticed something off about Xia Fengsheng lately, so the three of them huddled together to figure out why he had been so down and unable to sleep.
As friends, they cared deeply about his physical and mental wellbeing.
To outsiders, Xia Fengsheng was known in the world of fame and fortune as poised, elegant, a refined gentleman who could speak to people one way and ghosts another.
But those who truly knew him understood that no matter how well he spoke, he never actually expressed himself.
What he showed the outside world was always his most polished self.
After their investigation, the three of them finally discovered the cause of his low mood and sleeplessness.
“Look!”
Qin Buming slapped a receipt down on the table. It had fallen out of Xia Fengsheng’s pocket.
It was from a dinner he had hosted for a client a few days earlier.
Across it, one item read:
One plate of lettuce: 908 yuan
The three of them collectively went rigid.
No wonder Xia Fengsheng could not sleep. Who could sleep after spending money like that?
Qin Buming clicked his tongue. “Why didn’t he come to me for reimbursement?”
—
Xia Fengsheng had always held his liquor well. In Qin Buming’s memory, he had never once seen him drunk.
But today’s client was different.
At dinner, the boss on the other side and his assistant had drunk Qin Buming into the ground again and again.
By the third time Qin Buming was hugging the toilet and vomiting, retching from the next stall over could also be heard.
It was Xia Fengsheng.
Face flushed, stomach churning, Qin Buming had not expected Xia Fengsheng to lose to them too.
After vomiting, the two of them stood at the sinks cleaning up. Xia Fengsheng cupped water in his hands to rinse his mouth, then undid the top two buttons of his shirt collar. The flush in his face made his already darkly alluring features look even more vivid and sinister.
Something sharp flickered through his eyes. His black gaze darkened with hostility.
Then, in the restroom, a hoarse curse burst out.
Qin Buming, who had been splashing water on his face like it was some kind of game, froze.
Had Xia Fengsheng really just cursed?
After the curse, Xia Fengsheng’s left hand reflexively lifted as if to slap his own mouth, but he caught himself before the conditioned response could land.
Back when he had been trying to break himself of his habit of swearing, Xia Fengsheng had not shown himself any mercy.
Now, with alcohol clouding his mind, the darkness beneath his polished gentlemanly exterior finally surfaced.
They had made Sheng’er swear.
Qin Buming felt the injustice keenly. Their Xia Fengsheng was always composed, polished, and refined.
This client tonight had gone too far.
So Qin Buming started swearing too.
After cursing them out to his own satisfaction, the two of them returned to keep drinking.
Once Xia Fengsheng’s ruthless streak came out, the client was eventually carried to the car at the end of the night, still babbling that they should definitely work together.
When the work was finally done, Xia Fengsheng stood in the night breeze, forcing himself to stay somewhat lucid as he called a ride home for both himself and Qin Buming.
—
When Shi Ye finished his night run and returned to the apartment building, the front desk staff stopped him before he could get on the elevator.
“Mr. Shi, you have a package.”
Each building had a front desk in the lobby. Packages and deliveries were held there for residents.
Shi Ye did not remember ordering anything, but since the receptionist said it was his, he followed them over.
It was a medium-sized office-style box, with bows tied to the handles. When he opened it and took out the card inside, he realized it was a premium member gift from an adult store.
Because he had once bought a large quantity of expensive condoms in all kinds of styles and textures, Shi Ye had become a top-tier VIP member there.
The shop had recently launched new products, and before they were officially released, they had sent him a selection of samples.
Only then did Shi Ye remember the store had once asked him for his address.
As a producer, he often received clothes and gifts from brands, so he had given out the address in a general way without paying attention to where it went.
Looking at the assortment of adult products in the box, Shi Ye could not help flushing a little.
Handcuffs. Warming oil. Fleshlight…
He quickly shut the lid and hurried into the elevator with the box full of blur-worthy contents.
When he stepped out on his floor, he saw Xia Fengsheng coming back, drunk.
Today, unlike usual, Xia Fengsheng carried a faint smell of alcohol. Mixed with his own perfume, it was not unpleasant.
He was obviously tired. There was fatigue on his face, but when he was tired, that gloomy face of his somehow became even more evocative. The flush in his skin made his fox-like features look dangerously alluring.
The corners of his eyes were red. He had the frame of a full-grown man, yet the waist tucked into those trousers was so slim it drew the eye.
Cold-faced, flushed, and a little dazed, he lowered that pale, enticing neck and pressed in the code to his door.
Holding the box of eighteen-plus paraphernalia, Shi Ye did not greet him this time. He just pulled out his keys to go home.
He braced one leg against the wall, using it to support the weight of the box, one hand steadying it while the other searched for the key.
But as soon as he found it and tried to fit it into the lock, the doorknob bumped the box.
The carefully balanced cardboard box instantly overturned to the floor.
All sorts of sordid, embarrassing things rolled out everywhere.
Xia Fengsheng had entered his code wrong several times now. His eyes darkened with a stormy gloom, his whole being wrapped in heavy, negative tension.
Something rolled right up against the toe of his polished shoe.
He looked down.
At his feet sat a flesh-pink masturbator.
He was not an idiot. He knew exactly what it was for.
Xia Fengsheng’s dark eyes fixed on it.
The negative emotions swallowed him whole.
With his porcelain-pale, beautifully shaped hand, he bent down and picked it up.
Shi Ye had just finished gathering up the spilled contents, but when he looked up and saw what was now in Xia Fengsheng’s hand, his vision went black for a second.
How had that ended up in Xia Fengsheng’s hand?
The fleshlight looked utterly obscene against Xia Fengsheng’s sacred, untouchable air.
“Um…”
Shi Ye tried to explain.
The next moment, Xia Fengsheng was already striding toward him with it in hand.
“Thi—that fleshlight was sen—”
Before Shi Ye could finish, he sucked in a sharp breath.
Without warning, Xia Fengsheng’s left hand plunged into his waistband and grabbed him hard.
Pain shot through Shi Ye, and he lost the rest of his words on the spot.
Face flushed, Shi Ye caught Xia Fengsheng’s hand. “What are you even talking about?”
They were still in the corridor, with surveillance cameras overhead. Xia Fengsheng was clearly drunk.
Shi Ye opened his unlocked front door and tried to move them inside.
The moment they crossed the threshold, Shi Ye was shoved to the floor.
Xia Fengsheng sat on top of him, grabbing at him viciously, as though trying to rip the thing clean off his body.
But before he could actually do anything, the drunkenness overtook him, and he passed out.
The suffocating grip slackened. Xia Fengsheng collapsed bonelessly against him.
Staring at the ceiling, Shi Ye felt dazed.
So playing hard to get really did work.
The arms that had resisted him so stubbornly before now slowly climbed around Xia Fengsheng’s waist. His hand settled on that slim waist he had coveted for so long, and his arms gradually tightened until Xia Fengsheng was pressed firmly against him.
Xia Fengsheng’s face nestled in the hollow of his neck. Even asleep, his long lashes made Shi Ye’s heart itch. That arrogant, elegant aura still clung to him in sleep, like some beautiful piece of art too sacred to touch.
To want him was to be ready to go to jail for it.
It had already been three months since Shi Ye had last touched him.
Lifting his head off the floor, Shi Ye looked down the length of Xia Fengsheng sprawled over him.
His legs were parted on either side of Shi Ye’s thighs, and because of the way the fabric stretched, the marks where shirt stays clipped onto his thighs were clearly visible.
Shi Ye swallowed hard.
He was so damn sexy.
Back when Xia Fengsheng confessed he had never lost his memory, Shi Ye had gone and drunk himself senseless in a private room at a club.
Ding Qizhen and a few other friends had come to check on him.
They had all grown up together, and of them all, Shen Jiyan’s tongue was the sharpest.
Seeing Shi Ye like this, Shen Jiyan had stared in disbelief. “So you’re telling me that ridiculous repairman getup of yours didn’t stir up even a shred of desire in him, and he just kicked you out?”
Shi Ye sat there in sunglasses, saying nothing.
Then a massive tear rolled out from beneath the glasses and dropped with a plop.
Shen Jiyan: !
Ding Qizhen: !
Good lord, that was a Swarovski crystal-grade tear.
Hearing Shen Jiyan’s attempt at comfort, Ding Qizhen nearly blacked out.
Wasn’t the whole point that they had come to comfort Shi Ye over yet another breakup?
Ding Qizhen immediately dragged him aside and frantically signaled with his eyes.
What exactly are you here for? Aren’t you just provoking him more?
Forget Jiyan. You should be called Forbidden Speech.
Shen Jiyan promptly realized his mistake and shut his mouth.
Normally they all joked around with each other freely, so the moment he saw Shi Ye, he forgot to watch his words.
He slapped his own mouth twice and shot Ding Qizhen a look.
I know, I know. I’ll be careful.
Fortunately, Shi Ye was so far gone in his grief he was not hearing a word anyway.
Shi Ye had thought Xia Fengsheng refused to reconcile because he had played with his feelings while Xia Fengsheng “had amnesia.”
Instead, Xia Fengsheng had bluntly told him he had never lost his memory at all.
Shi Ye had been made to spin in circles like a dog, stripped of all dignity in front of him.
And Xia Fengsheng had even said he had never loved him.
How could he say something like that? Then what had their relationship back then been? What had it meant when Xia Fengsheng said he wanted to stay with him forever—when he said he wanted to marry him?
And now he claimed he had never loved him.
That made all of Shi Ye’s teenage years feel like a joke.
Shi Ye really had loved Xia Fengsheng.
He loved him then, and he loved him now.
So how could Xia Fengsheng have never loved him?
Shi Ye’s tear-filled eyes could not believe it.
At eighteen, Xia Fengsheng had proposed to him by the sea. The scene was still crystal clear.
How could that not have been love?
Would Xia Fengsheng really propose to someone he did not love?
“He must have loved me.”
Ding Qizhen looked at Shi Ye’s miserable state. He had told him so—if Shi Ye broke up with him, he would regret it.
It seemed this breakup had hit him even harder than the first time he had been dumped.
Shen Jiyan had tried offering the only comfort he could think of. “I know you’re hurting now, but time softens everything. After a while it’ll pass.”
“Like after you got dumped seven years ago. Didn’t you slowly get over it then too?”
Shi Ye said nothing.
Got over it?
No—he had just run out of options.
Xia Fengsheng had refused to get back together, and Shi Ye still had some self-respect back then, so he had not gone bothering him.
But seven years later, even that last shred of dignity had been crushed.
When they heard in full what Xia Fengsheng had said to him, both Ding Qizhen and Shen Jiyan saw darkness.
And even after being treated like that, Shi Ye still could not stop yearning for him.
His eyes were swollen from crying, yet he still had not once said he wanted to separate from Xia Fengsheng.
He still wanted to be with him.
No matter how much cruelty he had shown him, Shi Ye still loved him.
Ding Qizhen had seen Shi Ye like this once before—when he found out he would never be able to keep dancing.
He himself was not one of the people involved, so from Ding Qizhen’s angle, it looked like this:
Back in high school, Shi Ye had been forced into a relationship with Xia Fengsheng. Xia Fengsheng got bored and dumped him. Shi Ye could not let go. On the surface, seven years later, it looked like Shi Ye had returned to toy with Xia Fengsheng’s feelings while he had “amnesia,” but in reality Shi Ye had never really understood that what he wanted was just to be with him again.
Then when Shi Ye proposed breaking up, Xia Fengsheng agreed immediately—and on top of that had never really lost his memory, just played him again exactly like before.
He even admitted that back then he had only liked Shi Ye’s face, not actually loved him.
Ding Qizhen had once seen it clearly: the way Xia Fengsheng looked at Shi Ye was utterly different from how he looked at anyone else. That cold, icy man’s eyes would turn sticky-sweet around Shi Ye, as though they were dripping honey.
Ding Qizhen said, “If you can’t tell whether he loves you or not, then use a little push-and-pull. You’ll find out.”
Shi Ye’s eyes were swollen red from crying. “Push and pull?”
“Pretend you’re ignoring him,” Ding Qizhen said. “See if he comes looking for you.”
Shi Ye replied, “But the last time I ignored him, he didn’t come looking for me for seven years.”
Ding Qizhen: ……
“You idiot. You have to show up in front of him for him to ignore! If you never appear at all, of course he’ll eventually forget you!”
—
And now, looking down at Xia Fengsheng sprawled limply on top of him, Shi Ye’s heart pounded violently.
Xia Fengsheng really did care about him.
He had only thought Shi Ye was using a fleshlight, and he got this jealous.
Shi Ye felt his nose sting. Xia Fengsheng cared. It was not that he did not love him.
He knew it.
Taking deep breaths to steady himself, Shi Ye smelled the alcohol on Xia Fengsheng and could not help wondering just how much he had drunk tonight to end up like this.
His eyes softened with pain.
As he slept, Xia Fengsheng rubbed against the hollow of Shi Ye’s neck, hair brushing his chin. Feeling that soft cheek pressed against his Adam’s apple, Shi Ye quickly clapped a hand over his own mouth in case his heart leapt right out.
So cute.
Shi Ye: ><
His breathing turned ragged. Slowly, he clasped Xia Fengsheng’s hand in his own.
Everything about him was cute—his little face, his little hands, even his size fit so perfectly with Shi Ye’s. Curled up in his arms, he fit just right.
How had he even been born like this? Xia Fengsheng, how did your mother manage to make you this cute?
There was a clear size difference between them. In anyone else’s eyes, Xia Fengsheng was a tall, fully grown man. But next to Shi Ye, his hands were smaller, his waist slimmer, his whole frame smaller—just right to wrap up in an embrace.
Shi Ye still could not respond openly yet. He had to hold back, play hard to get, until Xia Fengsheng fully understood just how important Shi Ye was to him.
Shi Ye itched to carry him into the bedroom and hold him properly on the bed.
But clinging to the thought of “play hard to get,” he restrained himself.
He had originally wanted to scoop Xia Fengsheng up, but in the end he merely half-carried him.
At the neighboring door, Shi Ye poked Xia Fengsheng’s cheek and asked for the code.
Dead drunk, Xia Fengsheng muttered it out.
The door unlocked.
Shi Ye guided him inside and into the master bedroom.
After laying Xia Fengsheng down on the bed and pulling the blanket over him, Shi Ye was supposed to leave.
But his feet would not move.
Xia Fengsheng still loved him.
Xia Fengsheng liked him.
Standing beside the bed, Shi Ye’s eyes stuck helplessly to Xia Fengsheng’s flushed sleeping face.
“Xia Fengsheng?”
He called tentatively.
No response.
“Xia Fengsheng.”
Again, no response. He just slept on, dead to the world.
At last Shi Ye could not help himself. He sat at the edge of the bed and bent down, draping Xia Fengsheng’s limp arm around his neck. Then his strong arms slid beneath Xia Fengsheng’s body and around that slim waist, pressing their upper bodies flush together.
Still unconscious, Xia Fengsheng kept his eyes shut. Only his reddened lips, from the discomfort of being drunk, pouted slightly.
“Let your husband kiss you once.”
Shi Ye leaned down and kissed his lips lightly.
A faint taste of alcohol.
Looking at Xia Fengsheng’s flushed face, heat surged through Shi Ye’s body.
“Husband loves you. Husband likes you best.”
He lingered over him, utterly unwilling to move.
He had only meant to kiss him once.
But… maybe one more kiss would be okay?
“Mm…” Xia Fengsheng turned his head away in discomfort, a small whimper escaping him.
Shi Ye coaxed gently, “One more kiss from your husband.”
Maybe Xia Fengsheng heard him, maybe he did not. But he stopped moving, obediently letting Shi Ye pinch his cheek and kiss him once more.
That one was enough.
Any further and things would get out of hand.
Letting go, Shi Ye noticed Xia Fengsheng had nothing in his arms. He looked around.
He thought of the teddy bear.
Actually, the day after their breakup, when Shi Ye came back and saw the teddy bear he had given Xia Fengsheng seven years ago still lying on the bed, he had already known.
Xia Fengsheng still had him in his heart.
Shi Ye had once assumed that after they broke up, Xia Fengsheng must have thrown the bear away.
He had not expected him to have kept it all these years.
He searched left and right on the bed, but could not find it.
In the end, Shi Ye found the poor teddy bear imprisoned in the wardrobe.
The teddy bear stared back at him.
Shi Ye: It’s me. Your dad.
—
The next morning, Xia Fengsheng woke to find himself already lying in his own bed. Apart from his shoes having been removed, his shirt and trousers were still perfectly neat.
His head throbbed from the hangover. His last memory was of grabbing Shi Ye with that fleshlight in hand.
Pressing his fingers to his brow, Xia Fengsheng thought:
What exactly had he done?
He climbed out of bed and went straight to the bathroom to clean himself up.
He had thought that after all the chaos of last night, today would at least be peaceful.
Instead, he discovered that the living room light had gone out.
He dug out the little repair-service card—
And there it was, Shi Ye’s phone number printed on it.
Xia Fengsheng: ……
This card had been among the batch he had collected together with those earlier pipe-repair cards.
He flipped through the others. None were for light repair except this one.
Forget it. He would just take the broken tube down and see if he could replace it himself after buying a new one.
Most people replaced a broken bulb on their own.
A few online tutorials should be enough.
He still had work today, so Xia Fengsheng removed the busted light tube and prepared to throw it out downstairs. He had no suitable bag to put it in, so he just carried it in his hand.
Changing into his shoes, he stepped out the door—
And locked eyes with Shi Ye, just emerging from the apartment opposite.
Xia Fengsheng: ……
The air instantly turned awkward.
Xia Fengsheng looked at him expressionlessly.
Shi Ye looked a little guilty. Surely Xia Fengsheng had not remembered the kisses from last night, had he?
Then Shi Ye noticed the broken tube in Xia Fengsheng’s hand.
“Did your light go out?”
Xia Fengsheng ignored him.
Shi Ye stepped forward before Xia Fengsheng could move on. “I’ll replace it for you.”
With Xia Fengsheng’s night blindness, he could not be without lights at home. And with how busy he was, who knew when he would find time to deal with it otherwise?
What if he came home after dark, could not see, and ended up bumping into something?
Afraid Xia Fengsheng would refuse, Shi Ye hurriedly added, “Aren’t neighbors supposed to help each other out? It’s just changing a light. It’ll take a few minutes, won’t delay you going to work.”
The apartment was in a good area, with a large shopping mall nearby, so buying a new light tube was easy enough. Afterward, Shi Ye even had the property management lend him a ladder.
He set it up and climbed onto it to replace the light.
Afraid the ladder might wobble, Shi Ye asked Xia Fengsheng to steady it.
But the angle was unfortunate—Xia Fengsheng’s face was pointed almost directly at Shi Ye’s waist and stomach.
Shi Ye immediately thought back to last night.
Xia Fengsheng really seemed to like grabbing him.
Only now did Shi Ye remember that he was still supposed to be playing hard to get.
He had reacted too quickly upon hearing Xia Fengsheng’s light was broken.
If he let Xia Fengsheng have him too easily, what if the novelty wore off again? What if he suddenly stopped liking him?
Completely unaware of the thoughts racing through Shi Ye’s mind, Xia Fengsheng merely held the ladder with both hands.
Watching Shi Ye act so normally around him, he could not help wondering whether what happened last night had actually been real—or just some drunken dream.
Now he was more inclined toward the latter.
Probably a dream.
The next second—
Shi Ye looked down at him and said, all nervous, “Don’t sneak a bite.”
Xia Fengsheng: ……
