Chapter 5
Xia Fengsheng: o.o
Xia Fengsheng: O.O
His eyes instantly widened several times over.
He stared at the glowing thermos cup.
Xia Fengsheng: Tom’s.
Was this even a proper thermos cup?
Xia Fengsheng’s expression cracked on the spot. He no longer wanted to drink a single mouthful of water from a thermos ever again.
He tossed the thermos aside.
Everything was far too dangerous right now. Danger lurked all around him.
Xia Fengsheng began to pray sincerely.
“Amen.”
Shi Ye asked, “You’re Christian?”
Xia Fengsheng didn’t answer him. He glanced at the doorplate.
No. It was Zhao Kingdom.
Hopefully today, too, he could return everything intact to Zhao.
After finishing his prayer, Xia Fengsheng said, “Sit first.”
Shi Ye looked around.
Where?
There were two chairs in the dorm. One was piled full of clothes, and the other was also piled full of clothes.
The room wasn’t exactly tidy; at best there was barely anywhere to set foot.
Shi Ye manually moved the clothes onto the rack, clearing out both chairs.
Xia Fengsheng bent down and rustled around in a plastic bag on the floor for a peach.
Halfway through bending over, he suddenly felt something was off and turned back to glance at the condoms on the desk.
After that, he pressed down the hem of his pajamas and gracefully crouched sideways.
Instant security.
Usually, Xia Fengsheng and He Qiang lived pretty carelessly.
Right next to the plastic bag of peaches was the trash can.
Inside the black trash bag lining it lay a stack of little cards—the colorectal hospital ad cards Xia Fengsheng had thrown away yesterday.
One hand holding a peach, he sneakily fished the little cards back out of the trash with the other.
Had he known it would come to this, he definitely wouldn’t have thrown them away last night.
His heart was tired.
“Eat a peach.” He stuffed the little cards into the crack beside the bed, then placed the peach in front of Shi Ye.
Sometimes he really wanted to be a foreigner, just so he could say peach in English.
Shi Ye looked at the peach without moving.
Xia Fengsheng asked, “What’s wrong?”
Shi Ye glanced at the trash can.
He didn’t know about the little cards. The desk in front of him blocked his view of the plastic bag of peaches on the floor.
From his angle, all he saw was Xia Fengsheng sneaking around for half the day, then pulling a peach out of the trash.
“……”
The peach was big and plump, pink and white, with no sign of rot. Shi Ye wiped it off and ate it anyway.
Crunch—
Very tree tree.
While Shi Ye was eating the peach, Xia Fengsheng pulled over his laptop and started typing away.
“Can I ask for your VX ID and phone number?” Xia Fengsheng said.
Shi Ye gave him two strings of numbers.
Xia Fengsheng clattered away at the keyboard, then quickly looked up and said,
“You’re not my boyfriend.”
His tone was firm, utterly decisive.
Shi Ye bit into the peach and lifted a brow.
Carrying the laptop, Xia Fengsheng walked to the other side of the table and set it down in front of Shi Ye. Standing at his side, he bent forward over him, slender pale fingers tapping at the keyboard.
The fragrance on him had begun lingering from the moment he walked over.
Xia Fengsheng had always been in the habit of wearing perfume.
Spraying perfume before attending any occasion counted as a kind of etiquette.
Perfume represented a person’s taste, enhanced one’s outward image, and was also a great way to leave an impression on others.
The branded perfume Xia Fengsheng gritted his teeth and bought was one of the biggest expenses in his daily life.
His bed, his wardrobe, all his belongings carried the elegant lingering scent of the perfume’s base notes.
No matter where it was, as long as someone smelled that fragrance, he would be the first person they thought of.
He entered a string of digits and searched Shi Ye’s account in his contacts.
The page was blank. No such person found.
“There isn’t a single trace of you in my contacts,” Xia Fengsheng said.
His shoulder and neck lines were beautiful, and when he spoke, his pale throat trembled softly with his voice.
Resting his chin on one hand, Shi Ye tilted his head up to look at him.
“A few days ago, we had a fight. You deleted my contact info.”
“That’s normal between couples.”
Xia Fengsheng smiled. “That’s not normal.”
“I’m the type who will definitely announce a relationship on Moments. But you’re not in my Moments either.”
“Not in your Moments?” Shi Ye’s voice turned chilly.
The temperature around them seemed to drop eight degrees instantly.
Oh no.
Xia Fengsheng suddenly remembered something too and wanted to close the laptop.
Shi Ye got to the mouse first and clicked into Moments.
The first thing that popped up was Xia Fengsheng’s Moments background.
A completely ordinary default background, never changed.
“Where’s the photo?” Shi Ye asked.
Xia Fengsheng forced himself to stay calm. “What photo?”
The photo they took when they were dating in high school.
The reason Xia Fengsheng and Shi Ye started dating wasn’t exactly a beautiful one.
Shi Ye hadn’t even been willing at first, so during the first half year of their relationship, the two of them barely took any pictures together.
The only one they had was the one Xia Fengsheng had begged him to take.
Their first photo.
Back then, they had solemnly sworn that the photo would stay on Moments for a lifetime, or else they’d be struck by lightning.
Later, even after they had taken countless other photos together,
Xia Fengsheng had never changed that one.
But now…
That photo had vanished clean and fresh.
Shi Ye stared at him intently.
Xia Fengsheng’s gaze drifted off into the distance.
His damned mouth felt a little itchy, like it wanted to whistle.
“What photo? I’ve never put any photo on Moments.”
Shi Ye gave him a fake smile. “You don’t like rainy days, do you?”
Xia Fengsheng said, “A little.”
Shi Ye said, “Be careful when you go out on rainy days.”
Unnecessary concern.
On rainy days, he always ran toward places with lightning rods.
“Looks like you really aren’t my boyfriend.” Xia Fengsheng shut the laptop. “Before I call the police, you’d better hurry and run.”
Shi Ye sat there without moving.
Xia Fengsheng froze. “Why aren’t you running?”
Shi Ye replied, “I didn’t do anything wrong. Why should I run?”
He really wouldn’t give up until he reached the Yellow River.
“Actually, I didn’t believe you from the moment you first said you were my boyfriend.”
“A person can forget anything, but sexual orientation is carved into the bones.” Xia Fengsheng patted his own shoulder.
“I don’t like men, and I definitely couldn’t be some so-called homosexual.”
As he said that, he exaggeratedly rubbed his arms. “How could two men even be together? Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps.”
Shi Ye sat there quietly listening to him babble on.
Xia Fengsheng smiled flamboyantly, like a brilliant flower stuck in a pile of snow.
He had really talked himself into satisfaction.
“So there’s no way you could be my boyfriend. You weren’t before, and you aren’t now.”
Shi Ye folded his arms. “Anything else?”
Xia Fengsheng pressed his palms together. “May the world accept heterosexuals.”
Shi Ye had nothing to say. He stood up and walked toward him.
Xia Fengsheng, certain of victory, neither dodged nor flinched.
His distinct lower lashes made his dark, watery eyes appear even brighter.
Shi Ye looked into his eyes. “I only want one sentence from you. As long as you dare to say it, I won’t pester you. I’ll leave immediately.”
Xia Fengsheng gave a snort of laughter.
What was there that he didn’t dare to say?
He could tell lies without even blinking.
“Fine.” He agreed.
“You said I’m not your boyfriend—that I wasn’t before and I’m not now, right?”
Xia Fengsheng spread his hands. “Of course.”
“Are you sure?”
“Sure!”
Xia Fengsheng felt good again.
The next second,
Shi Ye said, “Do you dare swear it to the God of Wealth?”
Xia Fengsheng: ……
Xia Fengsheng: . . ?
Those bright eyes instantly shrank into tiny bean eyes.
Xia Fengsheng reached for the laptop. “The evidence is all in the comp—”
Shi Ye bent down, his shoulder blocking his movement. Hands in his pockets, he looked down at Xia Fengsheng, his high nose almost poking him in the face.
According to the law of conservation of energy,
after Xia Fengsheng had his moment of satisfaction, now it was Shi Ye’s turn.
“Do you dare swear it to the God of Wealth?” he asked again.
Xia Fengsheng: ……
Damn monkey, no martial ethics.
A person can let down many people in a lifetime, but the one you absolutely cannot deceive is the God of Wealth!!!!!!!!!!
Xia Fengsheng was like a silver snake dancing in coils, suddenly caught at the vital point. Even the tip of his tail stopped moving.
He had lost.
In this lifetime, he didn’t really have many weak spots. The God of Wealth counted as one.
“See?” Shi Ye’s voice carried a smile. At this close distance, the grainy texture in his voice could be heard clearly. “I’m still your boyfriend.”
So infuriating.
He wanted to plant a slap right on that face.
Shi Ye sat back down again, humming a tune under his breath.
Xia Fengsheng shot him a look.
He’d started his own concert now.
Xia Fengsheng tried to drive him away.
“I’m tired. I need to rest now. As for our relationship, I’ll think it over carefully before deciding. You should go back first.”
Shi Ye showed no intention of leaving. “You rest. I won’t disturb you.”
He wouldn’t make a sound.
“How am I supposed to rest with you here?”
Shi Ye pointed at the bed. “Just lie down and sleep on it.”
A nearly imperceptible tremor flickered through Xia Fengsheng’s eyes.
Sleep?
Right now?
In front of him?
or2?
How was that any different from seeking death on his own?!
Xia Fengsheng sat back down across from him.
Shi Ye raised a brow. “Not resting anymore?”
Xia Fengsheng clenched his teeth, expressionless. “Full of energy.”
For once, Xia Fengsheng felt reverence toward Wednesday.
From now on, he would never complain about Wednesday ever again.
He had learned his lesson. Please spare him.
“Let me use your computer,” Shi Ye said.
Weakly, Xia Fengsheng replied, “Go ahead.”
He didn’t have any shameful private secrets.
At the same time, he was curious what Shi Ye wanted to use his computer for.
Shi Ye opened the laptop, worked the mouse twice, first adding his own contact info back in, then opening Xia Fengsheng’s Moments.
Then he pulled out his phone and started previewing his photo album.
Xia Fengsheng craned his neck to look.
It was someone’s Moments profile page.
“Why are you in my Moments?”
Shi Ye scrolled through his phone. “To put up a photo as the background.”
Xia Fengsheng stood up. “When did I ever say I’d put your photo up?”
“You don’t want to acknowledge our relationship? Even if you’ve lost your memory, we’re still a couple.” Shi Ye frowned. “Other couples all put their partner’s photo on Moments. Are you trying to dodge responsibility?”
“There are plenty of people who don’t put photos up either.”
“You want to compare yourself to those people?” Shi Ye claimed the moral high ground. “Didn’t you say that if you’re dating, you’ll make it public?”
“……”
The air went still for a few seconds.
The next moment, the two of them lunged for the mouse at the same time.
Shi Ye panicked and clung to the mouse without letting go. “Why won’t you make me public? Am I that shameful?!”
Xia Fengsheng: I’ll smack your head.
Shi Ye’s handsome face was full of shock, his peach blossom eyes full of grievance, like he was saying How could you treat me like this?
A man’s appearance was a partner’s glory.
Dating Shi Ye really was something you could proudly show off.
He was one meter eighty-seven, with a straight back, broad shoulders, and a great body. He liked sports, loved cleanliness, knew how to dress, and most importantly, he spent money generously and had plenty of it.
Whoever dated him would want to announce it across every platform on the internet.
So why wasn’t he allowed to post it?
“Am I your side piece or something?!” Shi Ye demanded.
The next second—
Bang bang bang—
Someone knocked on the dorm door from outside.
Someone had come.
The two still maintained their tangled fighting posture. Turning his head, Shi Ye caught sight of Xia Fengsheng’s snow-white, fragrant neck brushing against him.
Because they had been fighting so fiercely, his breathing was uneven, and his neck rose and fell with the slight curve of his chest, where a thin layer of muscle moved with every breath.
The perfume on his body bloomed even more under the heat of sweat.
Shi Ye blinked. “Someone’s here.”
Xia Fengsheng looked at him and smiled.
Then he stretched out a hand, grabbed the laptop, tucked it under his arm, and went to open the door.
Shi Ye: ……
With Shi Ye as an example, Xia Fengsheng was much more cautious this time.
Before opening the door, he first asked, “Who is it?”
Suffer a setback, gain wisdom.
“It’s me.”
Song Yu’s voice.
Why would he come looking for him?
Xia Fengsheng opened the door.
The next moment, Song Yu rushed straight in and threw his arms around him.
“Darling, I’m sorry I came so late. You must’ve been so scared, right?”
