The Interdimensional Reseller – CH232

Chapter 232

A tiger over three meters tall was brought in. It was already dead, but still exuded a considerable aura.

“That’s a ferocious beast,” Delice murmured.

Gray stared at its eyes, tilting his head thoughtfully.

“Do you know where this beast came from?” he asked Mu Linglang.

Delice translated for him. Mu Linglang, feeling unexpectedly flattered to be asked, replied, “A hunting team found it.”

“They fought it?”

Mu Linglang frowned. “It seems the tiger had some kind of health problem, so the hunting team got lucky.”

Normally, when a hunting team encounters a fierce beast, they must fight fiercely, often ending in a mutual injury scenario.

But the tiger hide being auctioned here still had its flesh intact and well-preserved—it seemed the tiger had already been dead when the hunting team found it.

Several people were bidding in the hall. Deep in the mountains, fierce beasts were plentiful, but opportunities to acquire a complete beast carcass were rare.

Experiments had proven that consuming a beast’s flesh and blood could strengthen one’s physique. Tiger skin, tiger bones, tiger meat, even tiger whip were all valuable—many people were interested.

The tiger triggered intense bidding, with the price already reaching seven witch stones.

“Twenty witch stones,” Gray raised his hand and called out.

The moment Gray quoted his price, several people in the hall were stunned. Witch stones were rare and precious. This tiger beast was indeed in good condition, but according to market value, it was worth only around seven or eight witch stones. Twenty was way above market price. Gray’s sudden bid even startled Zhuang Feixue.

“Little friend, do you even have witch stones?” she asked.

Hands on his hips, Gray shook his head and said in a crisp voice, “No.”

The venue instantly went silent. Only Gray could say “no” so confidently.

If anyone else had made such a scene, they would have been beaten and thrown out. But because the troublemaker was Gray—someone everyone knew was close to Chu Feng—people just exchanged glances.

Cang Lin stepped forward, a little awkward. “Little friend, this tiger can only be bought with witch stones.”

This tiger was the prey of Cang Lin’s mercenary team, and Cang Lin was their leader.

Gray nodded casually. “Don’t worry. Once I buy it, I’ll have Chu Feng pay.”

Cang Lin’s expression brightened. “Chu Feng will pay?”

“Of course!” Gray patted his chest. “Don’t you trust me?”

Looking at the small kid in front of him, Cang Lin hesitated and glanced at Zhuang Feixue.

“I can vouch for him,” Zhuang Feixue said.

Relieved, Cang Lin nodded. “If Miss Zhuang is willing to guarantee it, then no problem.”

Cang Lin thought to himself: Chu Feng, as a high-level ability-user, surely had no shortage of witch stones. Even if he didn’t want to pay, with Zhuang Feixue’s guarantee, there would be a way to make up for it—Crescent Group’s pills and spirit wine were both valuable.

Zhuang Feixu pursed her lips at the whole spectacle. Gray making such a fuss and not getting thrown out—Chu Feng’s name really was useful.

The auction continued. A coral-like tree was brought to the stage, sparking fierce bidding. Gray stepped aside to call Chu Feng.

Several people looked at Gray curiously. Chu Feng rarely attended events and was usually elusive. His relationship with the Zhuang family wasn’t particularly close, so many wondered if he’d actually show up.

Soon, Chu Feng arrived, carrying a box.

Gray looked at him with a flattering smile. “Brother Feng, you came!”

“When did you start liking tigers?” Chu Feng asked. “If you want one, I can catch you a live one.” With his ability, catching a fierce beast was trivial.

Nearby ability-users exchanged glances. Cang Lin awkwardly greeted him, “Young Master Chu.”

“And you are?” Chu Feng asked.

“That tiger is his,” Gray said, tilting his head toward Cang Lin.

Chu Feng nodded, opened his box, and revealed hundreds of sparkling witch stones—so bright they nearly blinded everyone.

He counted out twenty and handed them to Cang Lin.

Cang Lin lowered his head, inwardly chiding himself for ever worrying that Chu Feng might refuse to pay. High-level ability-users were indeed wealthy.

“Much obliged, Young Master Chu,” Cang Lin said.

“It’s just a transaction,” Chu Feng replied, waving it off.

He rubbed Gray’s head, thinking: This brat really knows how to waste money. Did he think witch stones were easy to earn?

“Kid, what’s so special about this tiger?”

He’d sent plenty of fierce beasts to the other realm recently. To others, this tiger might be impressive, but compared to those, it seemed underdeveloped.

“This tiger is different,” Gray puffed his cheeks. “You just don’t recognize its value. Brother, what do you think?”

Illya studied the tiger for a moment, then nodded. “It does seem… unusual.”

Chu Feng wondered if Gray had stumbled upon a hidden treasure.

…

He released his spiritual power, sweeping it over the tiger.

Suddenly, the tiger’s body shriveled at a speed visible to the naked eye, as if drained of all blood.

Gasps filled the hall as a round ball rolled out from the tiger’s body.

“What’s that? Looks like a spirit fruit,” Chu Feng said.

“Bloodthorn Orb,” Illya replied.

“Thorn orb?” Chu Feng frowned. It looked like a smooth, round ball—not something with spikes.

The ball rolled toward the door. An ability-user tried to intercept it—

—but the harmless-looking orb suddenly sprouted countless sharp spikes, its ferocity on full display.

Chu Feng released a spatial barrier. The orb slammed into it and fell to the ground.

Illya released a gray mist, trapping the orb. With a wave of his hand, the spiked sphere, now shrouded in mist, flew to him.

He sealed it in a glass bottle, where it thrashed violently.

The crowd watched Illya’s skillful handling in awe.

Chu Feng turned to him. “You know what this thing is?”

Illya tilted her head and said, “It’s something like half plant, half animal.”

Chu Feng thought to himself: Half plant, half animal? Something like cordyceps? That blood-spike sphere seemed to have been lurking until now—was it my spiritual power that provoked it into going berserk?

Gray leaned over and, using the language of another world, said to Chu Feng, “The blood-spike sphere can disguise itself as a spirit fruit, releasing a tempting fragrance to lure passing beasts. Unable to resist, the beasts swallow it whole. Inside their stomach, the sphere grows sharp spikes and absorbs nutrients from their bodies to grow. Once it’s absorbed enough, the blood-spike sphere slips out of the prey’s body, disguises itself again as a spirit fruit, and continues its deceit.”

Chu Feng thought: What a treacherous thing! Many demonic beasts have top-tier defenses—attacking from the inside makes things much easier. “There were cases where orcs encountered this thing, and they ended up as dried corpses.”

“Later, several more orcs fell victim in succession. At the time, no one knew the blood-spike sphere was responsible—everyone thought it was some kind of contagious disease. But after enough incidents, someone eventually noticed the truth…”

Chu Feng looked at Gray. “How did you figure it out?”

Hands clasped behind his back, Gray said, “Prey parasitized by a blood-spike sphere have a special blood-mark in their eyes.”

When Gray took part in the auction, he wasn’t sure—he was just taking a gamble.

Chu Feng glanced at him. “You’ve got sharp eyes.”

Gray smiled. “Not bad, not bad.”

“But what’s the actual use of this thing?” If he swallowed it raw, would he end up like that tiger just now?

Lately, his strength had been improving rapidly, but his internal organs were still very fragile.

Illya looked at Chu Feng. “The blood-spike sphere contains an abundance of life essence. Once processed, it’s beneficial for strengthening the body.”

The sphere’s quality depended entirely on the demonic beast it had parasitized—the more powerful the host beasts, the higher its value. Chu Feng nodded. “Alright.”

He raised an eyebrow at the blood-spike sphere in the bottle. Inside, it had reverted to the form of a small, harmless-looking fruit. But after seeing it suck a tiger dry moments ago, there was no way Chu Feng would mistake it for something harmless.

Cang Lin’s eyes flickered as he watched the sphere disappear into Chu Feng’s jar.

Judging by the expressions of Chu Feng and Illya, Cang Lin guessed the item must be valuable. Although he felt he had missed out on a treasure, he wasn’t too regretful—twenty witch stones was still a hefty price. The thing in Chu Feng’s jar might look valuable, but it was definitely strange.

Many treasures, if used improperly, not only fail to bring benefits but can even cost one’s life.

If such an eerie object had ended up in his hands, he wouldn’t know how to deal with it anyway…

Although this unexpected scene had unfolded, the auction continued as usual.

Chu Feng and Illya didn’t leave right away, instead finding seats.

Chu Feng tossed a chest of witch stones to Gray. “Take it. If you see something you like, buy it.”

Gray hugged the chest. “Sure, sure!”

Gray and Delice sat next to Chu Feng and Illya, opening the chest.

The two of them toyed with the witch stones like they were playing with trinkets.

Zhuang Feilei glanced in Chu Feng’s direction, feeling a bit uneasy.

Because of the “switched-at-birth” incident, Zhuang Feilei always felt guilty whenever she saw Chu Feng.

Chu Feng’s appearance naturally drew attention; to Zhuang Feilei, he seemed like a prince, while she felt like an ugly duckling dressed in swan feathers.

Delice tossed a witch stone in her hand, tilting her head. “I heard witch stones are really valuable! One’s worth tens of millions—if we sold this whole chest, we could get a ton of money.”

Gray nodded. “Probably.” The people nearby looked at each other in disbelief. Sure, there were buyers for witch stones outside, but hardly anyone was willing to sell. Could these two brats really be planning to sell the whole chest?

Qian Jiajia eyed the chest greedily. “Young Master Chu, you’ve collected quite a lot of witch stones!”

Mu Linlang nodded. “Indeed.” And this chest probably wasn’t even all of them.
