The Interdimensional Reseller – CH222

Chapter 222

Crescent Group.

Sterling and Manning found Delice.

“You two are looking for me?” Delice asked.

Manning nodded. “Yes. Sterling wants to go shopping — do you want to come along?”

Delice clasped her hands behind her back and gave a proud smile. “Because you can’t speak the language, you want me to be your translator, right?”

“Exactly,” Manning said.

“I knew it — my ability is useful.” Delice rolled her eyes playfully. “Buy me a bag and I’ll go with you.”

“Sure,” Manning agreed readily.

Seeing how quick Manning was to agree, Delice took the chance to raise the stakes. “I want a designer brand.”

“No problem,” Manning said without hesitation.

Delice looked at him enviously. “Manning, you’re really loaded.”

“Nowhere near the boss,” Manning replied. Still, he had taken a few jobs before and had tens of millions in his account.

“How much money do you actually have? Hundreds of thousands?” Delice asked curiously.

“Yes,” Manning nodded. He seemed to be richer than she had assumed.

Delice puffed out her cheeks. “So catching cheating spouses and finding illegitimate children really pays, huh? Take me along next time. With me around, you’ll understand client requests more easily.”

“…Maybe next time,” Manning said.

“I’m coming too,” Gray announced. He had been in the human world for quite a while now but hadn’t gone out much. Hearing they were going out to have fun, he couldn’t resist.

Zhuang Feixue walked over to the group. “Heading out?”

“Yes,” Manning replied.

Feixue glanced at Hang Ming and Jin Jie beside her. “You two, go with them.”

Manning frowned. “Miss Feixue, they’re here under the boss’s orders to protect you.”

“It’s fine,” Feixue said casually. “There are other ability-users at the company. No one’s going to storm in here while I’m around. You two just go with them.”

Letting Manning and the others go out alone was too risky — too many people were interested in their origins, and some seemed to be trying to use them to locate the alchemist.

“If you’re going out, then go quickly and come back early,” Zhuang Feixue said.

Delice nodded, a little impatient. “Alright then, Manning, let’s hurry up and buy that bag.”

Manning nodded. “Okay!”

The group headed out in a lively crowd.

Gray wandered around the big shopping mall, looking excited. “This mall is pretty nice! It’s so huge.”

The mall in the Capital was bustling with people, far livelier than the small-town mall Gray used to visit.

Delice’s eyes sparkled, also stunned by the mall’s prosperity. “This mall looks amazing! If only I could buy it.”

Gray glanced at her. “A mall must cost a lot of money.”

Delice nodded. “Yeah! I make four thousand a month. Even if I work my whole life, I don’t know if I could ever afford it.”

Gray counted on his fingers, a bit confused. “If you worked for a thousand years, maybe you’d have a chance.” After all, a thousand years is a long time.

Jin Jie gave Delice a sympathetic look and thought: If her salary never increases, forget a thousand years — even in ten thousand years she couldn’t afford it.

The girl didn’t earn much, but her dreams were certainly ambitious.

Seeing how excited Gray and Delice looked, Jin Jie didn’t have the heart to interrupt their daydreaming.

Manning turned to Sterling. “We’re already here. Have you found what you’re looking for?”

Sterling shook his head. “Not yet.”

“Do you need help?” Manning asked.

Sterling hesitated. “No, I’ll look around a bit more myself.”

Manning looked at him suspiciously. “Alright then.”

Hang Ming watched Sterling curiously. He sensed a peculiar aura from him — one that felt oddly familiar.

He wanted to ask about it, but with the language barrier, he didn’t know how.

“Delice, have you decided what bag you want?” Jin Jie asked.

Delice shook her head. “I don’t know yet, there are too many and it’s making my head spin!”

Jin Jie chuckled to herself. That’s just the feeling you get in a big mall.

Suddenly, Delice clenched her fists with determination. “I want that one!”

Jin Jie followed her gaze and saw a cheap, glitter-covered, off-brand bag.

Jin Jie: … She rolled her eyes inwardly. Earlier, Delice had told Manning with great seriousness that she wanted a designer bag. Jin Jie had expected something fancy, but after all that shopping, she picked this. No wonder Chu Feng could win her over with just a few thousand yuan a month.

Looking at the tacky sequins, Jin Jie thought: Doesn’t this girl think the bag looks gaudy?

Manning looked at Delice seriously. “You’re sure you want this one?”

Delice nodded. “Yes. Why, are you regretting it?”

Manning quickly waved his hands. “Of course not…” He didn’t regret it — he was just afraid that once her math skills improved, she’d regret it herself.

He had braced himself for a big expense, only for Delice to choose a 130-yuan bag — just ten times thirteen.

As the saying goes, knowledge changes destiny. You can’t just rely on superpowers and skip learning altogether!

Manning looked at her with a bit of pity.

Delice frowned. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

She thought unhappily: The way Manning looks at me is like I’m an idiot — that’s so insulting.

Manning smiled. “I just saw a toy store. Do you want any toys?”

Delice answered instantly, “Yes.”

Jin Jie: …

They spent some time wandering through the mall. Manning generously bought lots of toys for Delice and Gray, making the two youngsters thrilled.

Sterling, however, browsed the whole place and bought nothing.

Gray looked at him curiously. “Sterling, what exactly did Duvean tell you to buy? There’s so much fun stuff here and you haven’t liked anything?”

Sterling said awkwardly, “They don’t have what I need.”

“What do you need? Can’t you tell us?” Gray asked in confusion.

Sterling replied sheepishly, “Books.”

Delice blinked. “Books? What books? Can you even read the books here?”

“The same kind that Illya brought back before.”

Delice put her hands on her hips. “You mean the books Lan Hu was dability-userate to protect but still ended up being burned?”

Sterling: “…Yes, those books.”

Manning thought: No wonder Sterling was being so secretive — so that’s what he wanted.

He asked suspiciously, “Did Duvean tell you to buy them?”

Was Duvean really that open-minded? Or was Sterling blaming this on Duvean to cover his own interest?

Manning frowned. “I don’t think this mall will have them.”

Sterling looked at him. “That can’t be right. I asked the boss, and he said big malls have everything.”

Manning sighed. “Big malls do have a lot of things, but this might really be an exception.”

Sterling stared at him, puzzled. “You mean the boss lied?”

Manning’s face instantly showed a trace of panic. “Of course the boss wouldn’t lie. The boss is wise, heroic, and unmatched in the world.”

Sterling: …

Manning: … The boss doesn’t lie — but he probably didn’t expect Sterling to want this.

Jin Jie looked at Delice. “Delice, what are they talking about?”

Hang Ming also perked up his ears. He was curious about Sterling too, but he couldn’t understand a single word Sterling said.

Delice stood with her hands on her hips, bluntly saying, “Sterling wants to buy dirty books, but doesn’t know where to get them. Manning said this mall doesn’t have them, but Sterling said Chu Feng told him malls have everything.”

Jin Jie rubbed her temples. “Yes, yes, I got it.”

She thought to herself: She’s crazy—asking something like that in public? Our group has several ability-users, and Delice and Gray are both strikingly good-looking. Ever since we left the Crescent Group building, I think people have been secretly taking photos. Now this is going to blow up into big news.

Delice, still with hands on hips, looked every bit the brash big-sister type.

“Do you know where to buy dirty books?” she asked in a loud, confident voice.

Jin Jie: “…” Shouldn’t buying dirty books be a low-key thing? Why shout about it? She could feel the number of people snapping photos around them rising quickly.

Delice turned to Hang Ming. “Do you know where to buy dirty books?”

Hang Ming frowned. “I… I don’t know.”

“You don’t read them?”

Hang Ming shook his head. “No.”

Delice looked at him with some doubt. “You’ve been an adult for a long time. You really don’t read them? Are you… frigid or something?”

Hang Ming answered awkwardly, “I don’t read that kind of thing.”

It wasn’t that he was pretending to be proper—it’s just, who even reads paper books these days? Everyone just watches videos.

Delice gave him an indescribable look, puzzled. “Don’t read? No way.” He didn’t seem like he had any issues. “You’re a tiger, right? You might look like some soft pretty boy, but in reality, you should have plenty of energy.”

Hang Ming froze, his brows furrowing.

Manning also frowned. Having spent so much time with Chu Feng, he understood the modern world a bit better than Delice did, and realized what she’d just said was… not quite appropriate.

“A tiger?” Jin Jie asked, puzzled.

“Delice means he’s born in the Year of the Tiger,” Manning explained.

“Oh, I see. Hang Ming, are you a Tiger?” Jin Jie asked.

Hang Ming shook his head. “I’m a Sheep.”

He gave Manning a look, realizing Manning was trying to smooth things over between him and Delice. Hang Ming glanced at Sterling, wondering: Is Sterling also a tiger? Is that why Delice blurted that out? She didn’t seem to think it was unusual at all—maybe she’s seen plenty like me before.

Delice shook her head. “Still no clue where to buy books. I want to read dirty books too! Before, so many of them got burned by Illya—what a waste. Your brother’s something else, not reading them himself and not letting others read either.”

Jin Jie: “…” This girl is way too bold. Saying she wants to read dirty books in broad daylight—goddess image totally shattered.

“I know where to buy them. Stop shouting,” Jin Jie said, face red.

Delice’s eyes lit up. “Really? You know? Do you buy them often?”

Jin Jie’s face darkened. “No, I don’t.”

She could feel countless hidden cameras secretly aimed at her, and her breath started to quicken in panic. “Little ancestor, let’s just get out of here.”

Delice looked confused. “Why so rushed?”

“Everyone’s taking pictures!”

Delice frowned. “Why are they taking pictures? Because we’re ability-users?”

Jin Jie nodded. “Yes. Also because you’re good-looking.”

Delice blinked. “Right? I am good-looking. Even if I’m not as good-looking as purebloods… I’m still very good-looking. But Boss Chu says I’m ugly.”

Jin Jie asked suspiciously, “Boss Chu says you’re ugly and you just believe him?”

Delice thought for a moment. “I don’t know. He also said Jocelyn was ugly, and told him to cover his face so he wouldn’t scare people. If Jocelyn is ugly, then him saying I’m ugly doesn’t seem like a big deal. Last time Jocelyn scared people into falling over—guess he is kind of ugly.”

Jin Jie: “…” What kind of nonsense has Chu Feng been filling her head with? And in what world is Jocelyn ugly?

Gray said earnestly, “Jocelyn isn’t actually ugly. People here just have bad taste.”

Delice nodded. “I think so too.”

Jin Jie thought helplessly: Their taste is perfectly normal, okay?

“Come on, let’s go. We need to leave,” Jin Jie said to herself. There’s more and more people around. If we don’t go, we’ll be surrounded.
