The Interdimensional Reseller – CH214

Chapter 214

Yangfan Group

Zhuang Feixu watched the video online, feeling conflicted.

“Miss Feixu, Young Master Chu got three truckloads of nutrient soil. Can we buy some from him?”

“Miss Feilei, the spirit plant business is extremely profitable right now! We must seize this opportunity.”

“Miss Feilei, some of the newly imported spirit plants are malnourished. If they die, our losses will be huge. We really need high-grade nutrient soil!”

Zhuang Feilei frowned at the several managers in front of her and said, “I’ll talk to my sister about it.”

Yangfan Group originally had several Chinese medicinal herb farms, but recently they had been transitioning into spirit herb farms. In fact, many medicinal traders were making the same shift. Not doing business with ability-users now was already starting to seem outdated.

Sitting at her desk, looking over documents, Zhuang Feilei felt exhausted. The recent earthquake had hit Yangfan Group hard, cash flow was tight, and although operations had resumed, many problems still needed her attention. She had never thought herself inferior to Zhuang Feixue. After her background was exposed, she had hoped to earn recognition through her work ability — but now it seemed that wouldn’t be easy…

At Crescent Group

Zhuang Feixue put down the phone and sighed.

Zhuang Cheng looked at her and said, “Sister, who was that?”

“Feilei.”

“That’s rare,” Zhuang Cheng said.

Zhuang Feixue nodded. “Yes.”

Even before Feilei’s background was exposed, they had rarely been in contact. After the revelation, their relationship had become even more awkward, and they spoke even less.

Zhuang Cheng blinked and asked, “What did Sister Feilei want?”

Zhuang Feixue rubbed her temples. “She was asking about the nutrient soil. The group wants some, and they’re willing to buy it at market price.”

“Did you agree?”

Zhuang Feixue sighed. “No. Your second brother took all three truckloads somewhere, and I honestly don’t have a single bit of nutrient soil on hand.” Even if she wanted to scrape some residue from those trucks, she couldn’t — the trucks had vanished. To get nutrient soil, they’d have to go through Chu Feng, or else request it from the National Bureau of Paranormal Abilities.

But the National Bureau of Paranormal Abilities’s three truckloads seemed to have already been divided up.

Chu Feng had been very busy. She didn’t want to bother him with this, especially since his relationship with Feilei was rather average. If she asked on Feixu’s behalf, he’d probably be annoyed.

Still, refusing like this might make Feilei think she was deliberately making things difficult.

“I heard Brother Feng took the nutrient soil to plant a tree,” Zhuang Cheng said mysteriously.

Zhuang Feixue looked puzzled. “A tree?”

Zhuang Cheng nodded. “Yes, I heard it’s some sort of Tree of Life. Sounds amazing. I wonder if it bears fruit — and if eating the fruit could make you immortal.”

Zhuang Feixue rolled her eyes. “What nonsense. Don’t spread that around. If someone actually believed it, it would only cause trouble.”

Zhuang Cheng shrugged. “I was just saying.”

On the other end of the line, Zhuang Feilei put down her phone and took a long time to calm down.

It had already felt humiliating to have to ask Zhuang Feixue for help — and to be refused outright made her feel even more embarrassed. She bit her lip, feeling wronged. Why didn’t she agree? Zhuang Feixue clearly has so much power now. Sharing a little nutrient soil would be effortless.

Zhuang Feilei stared at the contact list on her phone, unsure who to call. In the past, whenever she encountered difficulties, there had always been plenty of people willing to help her. But after the appearance of ability-users, many of her friends’ influence had dwindled sharply.

Zhuang Feilei thought to herself: It really is the age of ability-users now. Only by mastering powerful abilities can one become a trendsetter of the era. Without abilities, no matter how outstanding you are, you’re just an ordinary person. Chu Feng’s luck is simply too good…

Inside the office.

“Brother Feng, you sure have a lot of ability-users around you! Shi Qi is actually an earth-element ability-user—why didn’t you tell me?” Lin Zhihao couldn’t help but complain.

Chu Feng replied lazily, “You didn’t ask.”

Lin Zhihao: “…” He clearly had asked before—he’d asked Brother Feng how many other ability-users he had around him, but Feng just told him to guess.

“Brother Feng, why is she called Shi Qi? Is it because her parents had a dozen or so kids and she was the seventeenth? Or is she the seventeenth ability-user around you?”

Chu Feng rolled his eyes. “What nonsense are you thinking? Her parents didn’t have seventeen kids, and I don’t have seventeen ability-users around me either. You think ability-users grow like cabbages?”

Lin Zhihao spread his hands. “They’re not cabbages, sure, but the way they keep popping up around you one after another… A lot of people online say that your trump cards are endless, like you’ll never run out.”

Chu Feng: “…” So many people online always talk about him like he’s some kind of immortal, with all sorts of exaggerated praise—it’s almost embarrassing to read. “How can you believe what people online say?”

Lin Zhihao nodded. “That’s true.” The internet was a mixed bag; people said all kinds of things.

“Brother Feng, that forest fire earlier—that was Shi Qi who put it out, right?” Lin Zhihao asked.

Chu Feng nodded. “You could say that.”

“I knew it! There’s no way there are two earth-element ability-users that powerful!” Lin Zhihao said.

Chu Feng looked at him, puzzled. “What do you mean?”

“You don’t know? Shi Qi’s famous now,” Lin Zhihao said, pulling out his phone and showing a video to Chu Feng. “This is a video that’s gotten really popular lately.”

Chu Feng saw it was a clip from when they had collected the spirit soil earlier. The soil had surged into the air—it looked quite dramatic.

“Where did this video come from?” Chu Feng asked.

“It leaked from the National Bureau of Paranormal Abilities,” Lin Zhihao frowned. “After it got out, they apparently tried to ban it, but it spread too quickly to suppress.”

Chu Feng shook his head. “If they can’t ban it, then forget it.” After all, there were already plenty of videos of him online—one more wouldn’t make a difference.

“This one’s got a huge number of views,” Lin Zhihao said.

“True,” he continued, “but honestly, the video with the most views is still yours—the one where you killed the Wolf King. That one’s got several billion hits already.”

Chu Feng frowned. “That high?”

Lin Zhihao nodded. “Of course—it was a king-level fierce beast. They’re extremely dangerous. Before, there was a tiger that came down the mountain and killed quite a few people, causing public outrage. To deal with it, the country used a small nuclear weapon.”

Chu Feng frowned. “A nuclear weapon?”

“Yeah.”

“It’s gotten to that point?” Chu Feng said. “Some of the king-level beasts that come out of the mountains are extremely powerful. Regular weapons are useless against them—you can only resort to extreme measures.”

“Did they hit it?” Chu Feng asked.

“No,” Lin Zhihao shook his head. “King-level beasts are incredibly fast—it dodged.”

Chu Feng looked surprised. “It dodged?”

Lin Zhihao nodded. “The power of a nuclear weapon is too great—if used improperly, you won’t kill the target but might harm civilians instead, and the pollution afterward is severe. If it can be avoided, it’s better not to use it.”

Chu Feng nodded. “That’s true.”

“But,” Lin Zhihao said with a frown, “if we don’t use nuclear weapons, humanity might actually lose to those beasts.”

“What do you mean?”

“There are tons of photos of ferocious beasts online,” Lin Zhihao said, “and supposedly, what’s shown is just the tip of the iceberg. If those beasts all poured out of the mountains, it’s very possible they’d eat us all. Luckily, for now, most of them don’t seem to want to leave.”

Chu Feng frowned, thinking of the beast he’d encountered near the Kunlun Mountains. That creature’s destructive power was terrifying—if it came out, it would truly be a disaster.

Lin Zhihao leaned in. “Brother Feng, recently some people have said they’ve seen demons.”

Chu Feng looked at him. “What kind of demons?”

“Someone caught on video a beautiful woman suddenly turning into a fox—not from some TV drama.”

Chu Feng was astonished. “Really?”

“Yeah,” Lin Zhihao nodded.

At that moment, Illya pushed open the door and came in. Seeing Lin Zhihao’s serious face, he asked curiously, “What are you two talking about?”

Lin Zhihao took a deep breath. “We were talking about recent incidents where ferocious beasts turned into humans.”

“Ferocious beasts turning into humans—that’s not unusual,” Illya said matter-of-factly.

Lin Zhihao looked at him in surprise. “Not unusual? A person suddenly turned into a fox! How is that not unusual?”

Illya: “It’s not that strange…” They were just beastmen, after all—nothing to be surprised about. Where she came from, they were common. There might even be beastmen and half-beastmen here, just ones that had always lived hidden away in the deep mountains.

“How is that not strange? It completely violates the law of conservation of mass and energy!” Lin Zhihao protested.

Illya tilted his head in confusion. “The law of… conservation of mass and energy? What’s that?”

Lin Zhihao: “The law of conservation of mass–energy is the combined term for the law of conservation of mass and the law of conservation of energy. In short, it means that in an isolated system, the sum of the relativistic rest energy and kinetic energy of all particles remains constant during interactions. It fully reflects the unity of matter and motion.”

Illya blinked and looked at Lin Zhihao, even more confused. “That’s such a strange way of putting it!”

Lin Zhihao: “…Strange? This is exactly what’s written in the book. It’s important content—will be on the exam.”

Chu Feng clapped his hands and said, “Not bad! You still remember that.”

He himself had long since left his textbooks behind.

Lin Zhihao scratched his head in embarrassment. Truth be told, he didn’t fully understand it either; it’s just that a lot of people online said it this way.

Illya tilted his head. “Don’t you have a lot of stories here? Like Su Daji, the Nine-Tailed Fox and so on.”

Lin Zhihao looked at Illya, utterly speechless, thinking: That’s just a story! How can you compare stories with reality?
