Advanced Shaman Beast

Chapter 184: Advanced Shaman Beast

After returning from the otherworld, Chu Feng resumed his search for shaman stones.

Tossing a Witch Stone in his hand, Chu Feng said, “We’ve been finding way more Witch Stones lately.”

Illya nodded. “Something’s definitely off.”

Some areas they had already searched were now producing Witch Stones again, and in large quantities. While the increase in Witch Stones was a good thing, the sudden abundance felt a little too excessive.

Chu Feng nodded. “The wilderness is becoming really dangerous.”

There were many wild beasts living out there, and they’d recently grown far more aggressive. Many adventure-seekers had vanished without a trace—most likely eaten by beasts.

Chu Feng shook his head. “Forget it, let’s go.”

Illya nodded. “Okay.”

They followed the compass’s direction into the jungle.

A green snake as thick as a fist slithered past them.

Chu Feng’s face darkened as he stared at the snake coiled in the tree. Illya glanced at him and chuckled. “After all this time, you’re still scared of snakes?”

Chu Feng smiled awkwardly. “That’s just something I can’t change.” Honestly, he was a pretty high-level fighter by now. Still being scared of snakes? Kind of embarrassing. “That looks like a green bamboo viper, but it’s way too big.” Nearly three meters long—clearly mutated.

Illya tilted her head. “I’ve seen ones as thick as a bowl.”

Chu Feng: “…” The environments between the two worlds are just different.

“Is the scanner picking up anything?” Chu Feng asked.

Illya nodded. “Yeah. It detected several shaman stones up ahead.”

Chu Feng was a bit surprised. “Several stones?” Previously, he could only find them one at a time, and they were usually far apart. But lately, he’d been finding multiple in a single trip.

Illya nodded. “There’s more shaman stones here than I expected.”

Chu Feng rubbed his forehead and said, “Yeah! At this rate, I might have to worry about not being able to use up all the Witch Stones!”

If he had more Witch Stones, maybe he could spare some for the shamans to use. He had a growing sense that the world was heading toward unrest.

If his people could become stronger, then if the world really did fall into some apocalyptic scenario or something else happened, they’d at least have a better chance of protecting themselves.

Chu Feng followed Illya to the location where the Witch Stones were stored, and the scene before him startled him.

A giant snake, over ten meters long, was coiled lazily in a tree, yawning sluggishly.

Staring at the sight, Chu Feng felt like he was watching a prehistoric monster film. “That snake is massive!”
Illya blinked, thinking to himself: Even in his world, he had never seen a snake that big.
Chu Feng’s expression turned grim. “This place is called White Snake Mountain. They say it’s named after sightings of a giant white snake, said to be dozens of meters long.”

“This place seems to have a tradition of worship. A hundred years ago, villagers here would offer young boys and girls to the snake god, praying for good weather and harvest.”

Illya glanced at Chu Feng and said, “That snake seemed to have eaten someone not long ago.”
Chu Feng looked at him. “Are you sure?”
Illya tilted his head. “Pretty sure. Snakes eat people, after all.”

In his Crescent Village, many people who went hunting in the mountains had been eaten by wild beasts — some even by snakes.

Chu Feng: “…”
He felt like he might have misunderstood something.

This world was always about the survival of the fittest. Birds in the sky and fish in the water had all ended up on human plates. Humans had become the dominant species, setting their so-called “rules.” People eating animals was normal, but animals eating people? That was somehow horrifying.

Now, the world was silently changing. Whether humans would remain dominant in the future… that was uncertain.

Should he kill the snake?

Just thinking that released a natural killing intent from Chu Feng.

The lounging snake suddenly sensed the bloodlust coming from Chu Feng.

It opened its mouth and dove toward him. Chu Feng was immediately hit with the snake’s foul stench.

Its enormous body charged down like a swimming dragon — the sheer force was overwhelming. In the past, Chu Feng would have panicked and run.

But he wasn’t who he used to be.

Chu Feng swung his arm and unleashed a Space Slash at the snake’s head. It left a deep gash across its skull.

The snake crashed heavily to the ground, hissing and writhing in pain.

Chu Feng watched with a complicated expression.

His Space Slash had once easily sliced through cars, but now, all it had done was leave a moderately deep cut on the snake’s head.

Seeing that result, Chu Feng’s eyes flashed with surprise.

It had been a while since he last cut through that car, and he’d grown significantly stronger since then. But this snake’s scales were several times harder than steel.

That kind of durability meant this snake was probably immune to bullets.

Furious, the snake lunged at them again, moving several times faster now — like a living whirlwind.

Just as it charged, Chu Feng grabbed Illya’s hand and teleported. In a flash, the two reappeared behind the snake.

The snake’s momentum was immense. A large tree behind where they’d just stood was shattered into pieces by the impact.

Realizing its attack had missed, the snake turned back viciously.

Illya gripped Chu Feng’s left hand and transmitted a wave of spiritual power into him.

Empowered by Illya’s gray mist, Chu Feng’s next Space Slash was several times stronger. This time, it split the snake’s head wide open.

From a distance, Illya looked at the snake’s split body and said, “It’s dead.”
Chu Feng stared at the corpse and thought: If they hadn’t killed it, this monster might’ve killed many more people. Maybe they just removed a huge threat for the nearby villagers.

Chu Feng walked up to the snake and touched its scales. “These are unbelievably tough,” he said.

Illya frowned and said, “This snake seems like a high-tier Witch Beast.”
Chu Feng looked at him, puzzled. “High-tier Witch Beast? What’s that?”

Illya tilted his head. “A powerful beast that has gained control over its abilities. They usually have immense strength — and considerable intelligence.”
Their world had a few of them in the past, but they had become increasingly rare over the centuries.

“Let’s bring it to the shaman for examination,” Chu Feng said.

Illya nodded. “Alright.”

“First, let’s find the Witch Stones.”

Illya nodded again. “Okay.”

The two of them soon found the Witch Stones hidden in the snake’s den. Chu Feng was a bit stunned. “How can this be?”

There were over twenty Witch Stones in the den. Chu Feng figured the snake must have been collecting them. But where it found so many was a mystery.

“Some of these show signs of use, but the energy inside hasn’t been fully depleted.”

“We just hit the jackpot!”
Illya nodded. “Yeah!”

Chu Feng returned to the alternate world carrying the Witch Stones and the snake’s corpse…

The shaman was startled when he saw the enormous snake corpse Chu Feng brought back. After recovering, he called a few people to dissect it.

He looked at Illya, puzzled. “Didn’t you say everything across the sea was fine, except that the wild animals there were all skinny like chicks?”

Illya nodded. “That’s true. But this one’s an exception. There might be more of these exceptions in the future.”

Shaman Qiu Luo: “…”

Illya shook his head. “Shaman, what do you think of this snake?”

“Judging from its bone age, it should be a snake that has lived for four to five hundred years.”

Chu Feng’s eyes widened. “Four to five hundred years? No, that’s impossible.”

The shaman thought for a moment and said, “It should be correct.”

Chu Feng took a deep breath. “That doesn’t make sense!”

Such a huge snake—if it had lived that long—it should’ve been discovered already! Could it have been living somewhere special all this time and only recently emerged?

The shaman looked at Chu Feng with some confusion and asked, “Did something happen on your side?”

“You could say that,” Chu Feng replied.

Chu Feng had a gut feeling that this giant snake was just a prelude. He sensed that the world might be about to change—more and more creatures like this might start appearing. “Shaman, please help handle this snake.”

The shaman nodded. “Alright, I’ll freeze it. This snake has lived for several centuries—its corpse still carries a strong energy. Whether eaten directly or made into elixirs, it should have good effects.”

Chu Feng nodded. “Do as you see fit.”
He took out a pouch and handed a bundle of witch stones to the shaman.

Shaman Qiu Luo looked at the stones in surprise. “This is for me?”

Chu Feng nodded. “Yes, this is for you.”

Shaman Qiu Luo frowned. “This is too much.”

He had already received several witch stones from Chu Feng before. Now Chu Feng was giving ten more—he couldn’t help feeling a bit uneasy.

Chu Feng frowned. “Just use them, shaman. You can share them with others if needed.”

Shaman Qiu Luo’s abilities were focused on healing and growth. Chu Feng had a strong feeling that if a major upheaval occurred in China, the shaman’s abilities would become extremely valuable.

People at the Bureau of Ability Research had shown great interest in the ability-users behind Chu Feng. They even expressed willingness to support and nurture them if his team’s alchemists agreed to join. With competent people under him, Chu Feng should improve their conditions.

Shaman Qiu Luo nodded. “Alright then, I’ll distribute some to the other ability-users.”

Chu Feng nodded. “That’s good. Everyone can benefit. But you should keep the majority for yourself.”

Jocelyn’s ability was more straightforward than the shaman’s, and in terms of cultivation potential, she might be more valuable. But Chu Feng trusted Shaman Qiu Luo more.

Currently, everything here was managed by Shaman Qiu Luo. The modern world might descend into chaos soon. When that happened, Crescent Village would be Chu Feng’s backup. He couldn’t let it fall into disorder.

“Has Jocelyn’s identity been confirmed?” Illya asked.
Shaman Qiu Luo nodded. “It seems he fled from the Elven Forest.”

Chu Feng blinked. “Did he commit a crime and escape?”

The shaman nodded. “It seems so.”

Chu Feng frowned. “What crime did he commit?”

The shaman replied, “Apparently, he failed to take proper care of the Tree of Life.”

Chu Feng looked skeptical. “He couldn’t care for it before. Can he now?”

Shaman Qiu Luo sighed. “We can only hope. Maybe the tree in the Elven Village has reached the end of its life.”

Flowers bloom and wither—death and rebirth are part of nature. Even the Tree of Life, though long-lived, would eventually die. If it had truly reached the end, trying to save it might be harder than growing a new one from scratch.

Chu Feng tilted his head. “If he’s a fugitive, won’t the Elven Tribe come after him?”

Shaman Qiu Luo shook his head. “No. Elves rarely leave their homeland.”

Chu Feng nodded. “That’s good.”

The shaman turned to Illya. “Jocelyn is working on cultivation, but it’s not going well. If you help, the Tree of Life might sprout more easily.”

Illya was surprised. “Me?”

Chu Feng clapped. “Yeah! You have a supportive ability!”

Since Illya’s powers could assist Chu Feng in spatial slashes, they might also help plant-based ability-users with growth acceleration.

Illya paused, then nodded. “Alright. If there’s anything I can help with, just let me know.”
He had heard many legends about the Tree of Life and was genuinely interested in it.
