The Interdimensional Reseller – CH182

Trading for Herbs

Chapter 182: Trading for Herbs

The potion Shen Yutong brought back drew intense interest from several researchers in the National Bureau of Paranormal Abilities.

Shortly after she delivered it, preliminary results came in.

“Miss Shen, the potion definitely works, and we haven’t found any side effects.”

Shen Yutong wasn’t surprised. The strengthening potion and body-boosting elixirs likely came from the same person, and she had already witnessed the elixirs’ effects. The potion’s effectiveness was no surprise.

“This potion was definitely made by an ability-user — we detected ability energy in it.”

Shen Yutong nodded. “Just as I thought.”

Ever since the appearance of beauty-enhancing elixirs, there were already suspicions that these elixirs came from ability-users, given their incredible effects. Attempts had been made to replicate them, but none had succeeded.

“It’s likely that this ability-user has grown stronger.”

Shen Yuxing nodded and said, “That’s normal.”

The earliest people to awaken supernatural abilities have, by now, seen at least some growth. If they obtain a Witch Stone, their abilities can instantly leap forward.

Lately, more and more Witch Stones have been discovered. Though they’re still rare, capable people always find a way to get their hands on one or two. Chu Feng had made several billion from selling elixirs earlier—if he secretly bought some Witch Stones, it wouldn’t be surprising.

“No trace of the supernatural user behind Chu Feng?”

Shen Yutong shook her head and said, “None.”

“That’s a shame. It would’ve been great to recruit them into the Bureau of Abilities.” Shen Yutong thought to herself: the supernatural user behind Chu Feng must be hiding very well. It’s not just them—plenty of forces are likely investigating the whereabouts of that mysterious pharmacist. But based on the current situation, no one has found that person yet.

Chu Feng fiddled with the invitation in his hand. “An invitation from the National Bureau of Paranormal Abilities, huh.” Zhuang Feixue looked at Chu Feng and asked, “Planning to make a deal with them?”

Chu Feng nodded and said, “Yes.”

Zhuang Feixue tilted her head and said, “The Bureau has a lot of good stuff.”

“I thought so too,” Chu Feng said with a smile.

Chu Feng was invited to visit the Bureau’s treasure vault. Inside the Bureau’s herb storage, all kinds of medicinal herbs were piled high, making Chu Feng’s head spin.

“So many good things!” Chu Feng thought to himself: If only I’d brought a traditional Chinese medicine expert. I’m just an amateur—how am I supposed to choose anything? Most of these herbs, he couldn’t even recognize.

“Anything catch your eye, Young Master Chu?” Shen Yuxing asked with a smile.

Chu Feng gave an awkward laugh and said, “There sure are a lot of herbs here.”

Shen Yuxing nodded. “Yes! There are quite a few rare herbs that ordinary people wouldn’t recognize.”

Chu Feng: “…” Why did it feel like this girl Shen Yuxing was enjoying his struggle a little too much?

Illya stood with his hands behind his back. “Let me pick.”

He selected nearly a hundred types of spiritual herbs. Shen Yuxing watched from the side, her expression growing serious. “Mr. Illya, you’ve got quite the sharp eye.”

Illya smiled. “Thank you for the compliment.” Chu Feng looked at Illya, puzzled. “You know these herbs?”

Illya shook his head. “No.”

Chu Feng, even more curious, asked, “Then how did you choose them?”

“I chose by feel,” Illya said.

Chu Feng thought to himself: Again with that sixth sense? Illya’s sixth sense really is impressive.

Illya pressed his lips together. While he didn’t recognize most of the herbs here, he could sense the auras they emitted. The stronger the aura, the more noticeable they were to him.

“These are the latest research materials?” Chu Feng asked.

Shen Yuxing nodded. “Yes.”

Chu Feng flipped through the materials. “The top-secret files aren’t included, are they?”

Shen Yutong smiled and said, “If Illya joined the Bureau, as a high-level A-rank ability-user, he’d have access to all the confidential materials.”

Chu Feng blinked and said, “Let’s talk about that another time.”

After all, Illya was someone from another world. If he joined the Bureau, it’d only be a matter of time before something slipped.

Chu Feng took the materials and herbs he exchanged through the Bureau and left Capital.

He had traded for so many herbs using his elixirs that they filled an entire truck, and he drove off with it.

Halfway through his trip, Chu Feng and the truck were transported to the other world…

Castle District. The shaman Qiu Luo looked at the newly arrived truck and smiled. “Another new vehicle?”

Chu Feng nodded. “This one came as a bonus.”

He opened the truck’s rear compartment, revealing a large number of herbs.

Qiu Luo’s eyes lit up. “What a rich and vibrant plant aura!”

Chu Feng smiled. “You can feel it, can’t you? These herbs are rare and valuable even in our world.”

When he loaded the herbs, the people from the Bureau looked like they were in physical pain.

Qiu Luo was quite excited to see the truckload of herbs.

Lately, Qiu Luo had been studying various medicinal herbs, so seeing so many at once put him in a great mood.

“There are so many different kinds of herbs in here!”

Some of them emitted very unique auras—clearly spiritual plants useful to supernatural users.

Chu Feng said to Qiu Luo, “I’ll leave these herbs in your hands.”

Qiu Luo nodded. “Alright.”

With this batch of herbs, he’d be able to make even more things.

Qiu Luo hesitated for a moment and said, “Before, you gave me some witch stones. I gave one to Jocelyn. He’s started preparing to cultivate seeds of the Tree of Life. I figured with his stronger abilities, the chances of success would be higher.”

Chu Feng nodded. “If the shaman is willing, I have no objections.”

Things were changing rapidly in the real world. Chu Feng had a feeling that Witch Stones would become more and more common there, so he didn’t need to guard them as tightly as before. He could let his team members use them to grow stronger.

Once they were stronger, they’d also be more useful to him in the future.

Seeing that Chu Feng didn’t object, Qiu Luo breathed a quiet sigh of relief…

Castle District. Jocelyn used his supernatural power on several spiritual plants in front of him.

Under the nourishment of his plant-based abilities, the spiritual plants regained a lot of vitality.

“Young Master, you know all these plants?” Angelina asked.

Jocelyn shook his head. “I don’t know most of them.”

Angelina blinked. “I didn’t expect there to be so many types of plants here.”

Jocelyn nodded. “Exactly.”

Jocelyn shook his head. He had always stayed within the tribe and had no idea there were such interesting places out there.

“I heard these are plants from across the sea.” Many things in the Crescent Village had come from the other side of the sea. If not for that, the village would still be an obscure little place where the villagers lived in constant uncertainty.

Jocelyn touched the Witch Stone, feeling a bit conflicted.

The Witch Stones had been gradually depleted over the centuries, and fewer and fewer remained. In fact, throughout the history of the Elf Tribe, several powerful ability-users had appeared and collected a number of these stones. Some were left behind in the tribe, which is how the elves had managed to preserve them until now. Whenever a highly talented ability-user emerged in the tribe, the stones would be used.

But in recent years, the number of stones had dropped significantly. After Jocelyn awakened his abilities, his mother had tried to secure one for him. However, the elders opposed it, believing he was still too young and, although awakened, his true potential was unclear. They suggested waiting a while longer—then just kept delaying it.

Jocelyn never expected that the Witch Stone he fought so hard for in the Elf Tribe would actually be given to him so easily here.

Judging by the expression of the Shaman Qiu Luo when she gave him the stone, it didn’t even seem like she was reluctant.

Jocelyn shook his head again, feeling like everything he had believed was being turned upside down. The tribe always claimed that Witch Stones were incredibly rare and that hardly any forces outside the tribe had them. And yet here, in this place, they seemed to have everything! He wondered what expression the tribal elders would wear if they ever came here.

Jocelyn shook his head to clear the thoughts and continued channeling his powers into the plant before him.

“You’re really working hard, young master!” Angelina thought to herself: If Jocelyn had shown even half this effort back in the Elf Village, those elders wouldn’t constantly scold him for being lazy and unmotivated. Jocelyn frowned and said, “I owe someone a favor, so of course I have to work. Otherwise, they might cut me down.”

He’d heard the boss’s powers were formidable—able to slice through a one-meter-wide stone in a single blow.

If he took the Witch Stone and didn’t do his part, the other party might get furious and kill him out of spite…

National Bureau of Paranormal Abilities.

“How did it go?” Shen Yutong asked.

“We lost the people following that car, and the surveillance didn’t catch where the car went afterward.”

“What about the trackers installed in the car?” Shen Yutong asked.

“No signal.”

Shen Yutong frowned. “All of them lost signal?”

“Yes, all three trackers stopped working at the same time.”

Shen Yuxing took a deep breath, rubbed her forehead, and gave a bitter smile. “I figured this would happen.”

“We originally thought we might finally track down the ability-user behind Chu Feng by following the movement of the medicinal herbs… But now it looks like—” She shook her head. “If that person were easy to find, they’d have been exposed long ago.”

“But how did they find out about the trackers? One of them was even buried inside a flowerpot!”

Shen Yutong shook her head. “Isn’t Illya an ability-user?

Maybe they had some unique method.”

“Illya’s powers do seem a bit unusual.” Illya had made a brief appearance at a banquet, used their abilities quickly, and then vanished without a trace.

Later, researchers tested the dead bees involved and found that they had been contaminated with some special substance that killed them instantly.

“Let’s test the effects of the potion first.”

Although previous research showed the potion had a strong effect, only actual use could truly determine its capabilities.
