The Interdimensional Reseller – CH168

Chapter 168

The Lin family scandal caused an uproar. Mr. and Mrs. Lin went to court, and many reporters swarmed in.

Wu Feng, having cheated during the marriage, was asked to leave with nothing. But after working in the Lin Corporation for so many years, he wasn’t about to give it up easily. The couple were in a fierce standoff.

Zhuang Cheng looked at the news and said, “Wu Feng gave up a lot. Madam Lin hasn’t been managing things these past few years—Wu Feng has practically hollowed the company out. Much of its assets were moved overseas.”

Madam Lin may have had the moral high ground, but she wasn’t necessarily in a strong position.

Mrs. Zhuang shook her head. “You think he gave in willingly? Wu Feng is being blackmailed by your Aunt Lin.”

“You mean the kidnapper?”

Mrs. Zhuang nodded. “Yes.”

After hearing what her son said, she told Madam Lin that the kidnapper might be Wu Feng’s illegitimate son. Madam Lin didn’t believe it at first—until a DNA test confirmed it.

The kidnapper was only a few months younger than Lin Yunfei. Madam Lin took quite a blow from this—poor Aunt Lin. “She ended up with an ungrateful scoundrel.” Madam Zhuang nodded and said, “At least this time, she saw Wu Feng’s true colors. It’s a blessing in disguise.” They had been kept in the dark for so long; if things had continued, the company would likely fall into the hands of Wu Feng’s illegitimate son.

Zhuang Cheng nodded. “You’re right.”

“Your Aunt Lin wants to invite you and the master to dinner tomorrow,” Madam Zhuang said.

Zhuang Cheng nodded. “Sure!”
Getting invited to dinner might mean the money is about to come through. Second Brother had already called several times to urge him.

The next morning, Zhuang Cheng brought Manning to meet Madam Lin.

“Madam Lin, good morning.” Lin Tianqing looked at Zhuang Cheng gratefully. “Xiao Cheng, thank you so much for everything this time. I misjudged the master before. I hope the master can forgive me.”
Before, when she couldn’t find anyone in the assigned spot, Lin Tianqing thought she had been given the wrong direction. It wasn’t until the truth came out that she realized the issue was on her end.
Zhuang Cheng looked at Lin Tianqing and felt she had changed a lot. She used to give off the vibe of a gentle, modest housewife, but now she exuded a certain fierceness—perhaps this was what they meant by “a mother becomes strong for her child.”
Zhuang Cheng glanced at Manning, who was curiously looking around the restaurant, seemingly fascinated by the décor.

Zhuang Cheng knew Manning didn’t really understand Lin Tianqing’s words and thought to himself, This gracious reception is like winking at a blind man.
Noticing Manning’s reaction, Lin Tianqing looked a bit embarrassed and asked, “Is the master—?”

Zhuang Cheng smiled. “He doesn’t understand much. Let’s order first.”

Lin Tianqing nodded. “Alright, alright.”

Lin Yunfei looked at Manning with curiosity. “Young Master Zhuang, is this the master who split open the car?”

Lin Yunfei had recovered physically and had seen the video online. He deeply admired the person who split the car and had been longing to meet him.

Zhuang Cheng shook his head. “No, he only helped us find someone.”

“I see. Then where’s the one who split the car?” Lin Yunfei asked.

Zhuang Cheng smiled awkwardly. “That hero is like a dragon—you may see its head but not its tail. I honestly don’t know where he is.”

Lin Yunfei sighed. “That’s a pity. I really wish I could invite him to dinner.”

Zhuang Cheng shook his head. “He’s very busy. Someone offered him eight figures to smash a car, and he still wouldn’t go.”

“What a shame. That van was taken by the research institute. I even tried to get it back, but no luck.”

Zhuang Cheng was confused. “What do you want that van for?”

Lin Yunfei shrugged. “To keep as a souvenir, of course.”

Zhuang Cheng: … Keeping the van you were kidnapped in as a memento? This young master might not be right in the head. Still, that van, after being split in half, had gone viral online.

That truck originally might have been worth just a hundred thousand yuan or so, but now that it had been split, it could probably be auctioned for millions.
“Was it the hero who saved you from the kidnapping?” Zhuang Cheng asked.

Zhuang Cheng pursed his lips and didn’t answer, which was essentially an admission.

“You must have a close relationship with him. He’s helped you multiple times,” Lin Yunfei said with shining eyes.

Zhuang Cheng shook his head, embarrassed. “Not really. Every time he sees me, he looks super annoyed, like I’m some useless ointment.”

That guy had helped him before, but clearly, very reluctantly.

Zhuang Cheng looked at Lin Yunfei. “One of the people who kidnapped you is likely your brother. Do you know who the other one is?”

Lin Yunfei nearly choked. “W-What did you say?”

Zhuang Cheng looked at him, puzzled. “You didn’t know?”

Lin Yunfei frowned. “What should I know?”

Zhuang Cheng blinked. Looks like Lin Yunfei is still in the dark about a lot of things.
He might’ve accidentally said something he shouldn’t have.

Madam Lin frowned and said seriously, “Young Master Zhuang, if you know something, please don’t keep it from me.”

Zhuang Cheng gave an awkward smile and stammered, “Mr. Wu… besides you, he seems to have four other close female companions. There might also be two illegitimate—”

“Four?” Madam Lin gritted her teeth.

She had long suspected Wu Feng had someone on the side, but she hadn’t expected there to be four.

Lin Yunfei’s face was grim. “Can we track down those women?”

Zhuang Cheng took Manning’s sketchpad and gestured. Manning shook his head, then pointed at one of the faces and nodded.

Zhuang Cheng looked at Lin Yunfei and said, “To confirm the locations of those women, we need to see your father. But we can locate your other brother through you. Want to know?”

Lin Yunfei gritted his teeth. “Tell me.”

Manning glanced at Lin Yunfei and sensed something, then drew a map for Zhuang Cheng.
“About 18 kilometers west-northwest.”

When Lin Yunfei heard this, his face darkened.

Zhuang Cheng thought the location was a bit strange. Then it hit him—That’s the location of Lin Group’s headquarters.
If Wu Feng’s illegitimate son was inside the company, it would actually make sense. Lin Group was originally the Lin family’s business.
Now that the divorce had been finalized, the company had been awarded to Madam Lin. But many employees had been promoted by Wu Feng, and Madam Lin hadn’t had time to clean house yet.

Could it be… him? Lin Yunfei suddenly thought of someone.

Zhuang Cheng looked at him. “You know who it is?”

Lin Yunfei forced a smile. “No.”

Zhuang Cheng rolled his eyes. You clearly do.
Since Lin Yunfei didn’t want to talk, Zhuang Cheng didn’t press further. After all, airing family scandals in public wasn’t wise.

Lin Yunfei took a deep breath. He felt a sharp pain in his chest.
There was an assistant under his father named Wu Junyi, supposedly a distant cousin from his father’s hometown. He was heavily favored.
Lin Yunfei had always felt something was off—his father treated that assistant better than he treated his own son.
Turns out, it wasn’t because he was a strict father—it was simply because he didn’t like his own son.

Now, Lin Yunfei felt like a complete fool.

Zhuang Cheng glanced at Lin Yunfei and said, “If you’re unsure, just let Manning take a look and you’ll know.”

Lin Yunfei replied, “No. Let’s just use it—”
Madam Lin frowned and interrupted him, saying, “Okay.”
Lin Yunfei hesitated and looked at his mother, “Mom…”

Madam Lin pursed her lips, her expression dim. She had stayed out of company affairs for years, and the company had long been filled with Wu Feng’s people. Now that power was shifting hands, she had to think for her son. Any unstable elements had to be dealt with in advance.

After the meal, the group headed to the company.

Just as Lin Yunfei had predicted, Wu Junyi was indeed his half-brother.

Manning took out her sketchpad and made a few strokes.

Zhuang Cheng looked at the sketch with a strange expression.
Lin Yunfei looked at Zhuang Cheng and asked, “What is it? What did the master say?”

Zhuang Cheng replied with a strange expression, “He said, that person’s mother is nearby…”
Madam Lin had not been managing the company, and Wu Feng had openly placed his mistress and illegitimate child in the company? What a scumbag.
“Nearby? How near?”

Zhuang Cheng blinked, “Probably within the company.”

Madam Lin’s expression turned unpleasant. She took a moment to calm down and then asked,
Zhuang Cheng nodded, “Yes, we can.”

They found the person in the Finance Department. As expected, the woman was just a low-level employee—not eye-catching at all. If it weren’t for Manning, Zhuang Cheng would never have suspected she was Wu Feng’s personal assistant and had a relationship with him.
“Let’s go.”
Now that Madam Lin knew the woman’s identity, she didn’t plan to expose her just yet.

Manning made a few more strokes on her sketchpad. Zhuang Cheng stared at the drawing, feeling like one thunderbolt struck after another. He thought to himself: His second brother always said big families were full of filth and chaos, that rich people were all a mess. Zhuang Cheng used to be skeptical, but now he started to think maybe his brother wasn’t entirely wrong. With money came endless trouble.

Lin Yunfei asked, “What did he say?”

Zhuang Cheng gave a slightly embarrassed smile, “He said that woman’s brother also works at the company.”

Looks like Wu Feng really planted a lot of his people in the company. Even though he’s gone, these people remaining pose a significant risk.

Madam Lin gritted her teeth and said, “Can we ask the master to help us find more?”

Zhuang Cheng smiled, “Of course.” They were already here—might as well look.

They found another person in the Purchasing Department. While the woman had been a low-level employee in Finance, her brother had climbed to the position of department manager in Purchasing—a very lucrative post.

Zhuang Cheng looked at Lin Yunfei and silently shed a tear of sympathy for him.

After wandering around the Lin Corporation, Zhuang Cheng and Manning returned home.

“Sis, you’re back? Weren’t you busy?” Zhuang Cheng asked curiously.

Zhuang Feixue smiled, “You can always make time. I heard the master is here—I wanted to ask for a reading.”

“A fortune reading? That might be tricky,” Zhuang Cheng replied. “Manning only seems able to detect relationships that already exist.”

Zhuang Feixue frowned slightly, “Isn’t he a master?”

Zhuang Cheng nodded, “He is indeed.”

“So he can’t tell me where my true love is?”

Zhuang Cheng shrugged, “Probably not. I’ve never heard Manning has that ability.”
He added with a smirk, “Are you thinking of getting married, Sis?”

Zhuang Feixue shot him a glare, “What are you thinking? I’m just curious.”
Zhuang Cheng shrugged, “If you don’t even want to get married, what are you asking for?”

Zhuang Feixue glared again and stood up, “Forget it, I’ll ask the master myself.”

She eagerly went to chat with Manning. Zhuang Cheng watched her go and worried for her—chatting with Manning wasn’t exactly easy. He went to the kitchen to grab some dessert and brought it to the room, only to find Zhuang Feixue and Manning chatting happily.

“Sis, you two seem to be getting along well!”

Zhuang Cheng asked curiously, “You’re not confused by him?”

“Barely managing to understand,” Zhuang Feixue replied.

Zhuang Cheng blinked. Is it just me then? He had to spend quite a while adapting to Manning’s way of speaking. How was his sister already chatting so naturally?

“What were you two talking about?” he asked.

Zhuang Feixue glanced at him and smiled, “We were talking about what you guys did today.”

“You understood?”

“The master said you went to help Madam Lin find some relatives. Did you find them?”

Zhuang Cheng: “…I guess… sort of?”

Zhuang Feixue smiled, “Madam Lin just got divorced—she must be feeling pretty down. If you helped her find some relatives, she must be a little happier.”

Zhuang Cheng: “…”
Finding those relatives probably wouldn’t bring her joy. If it didn’t make her explode in rage, that was already good enough.

“Does the master know Illya?” Zhuang Feixue asked, curious.

Zhuang Cheng paused and looked at her in confusion. “Sis, why would you think that?”
She shouldn’t know about the connection between Manning and his second brother.

Zhuang Feixue frowned, “Manning and Illya sound alike when they talk. Could they be from the same hometown?”

“How is that possible? Illya speaks Mandarin.”

Zhuang Feixue nodded, “True. But I remember at the theater, when Illya and Chu Feng spoke privately, they used a strange foreign language. The sound of it was kind of similar to Manning’s.”

“Maybe I’m overthinking,” Zhuang Feixue said.

Zhuang Cheng: “Not at all! Women’s intuition is really something.”
