Chapter 161: The Popular Monkey Wine
After making a round at the shaman’s place, Chu Feng headed to the Heavenly Crescent Trade House, which had become a landmark of Tianhai City. Visitors to the city would almost always stop by the trade house.
“Boss, you’re here!” Lan Hu greeted Chu Feng warmly.
As Chu Feng walked into the shop, he immediately spotted several Barbie dolls with varying hairstyles and exquisitely detailed outfits. A few noblewomen were crowding around the dolls, admiring them.
“This dress design looks amazing—I want one just like it!”
“I love this one. I already reserved it, so don’t even try to snatch it from me. If you like it, buy the other one. I’m going for the purple one, so we won’t clash.”
“Then I’ll take the blue one.”
“That blue one’s already been bought—by Jones. He and Lan Hu are pretty tight. Back in the capital, they were always up to something shady together. I think Lan Hu already promised it to him.”
“Jones? What does a man want with a doll?”
“Who knows? He says it’s for his girlfriend, but I haven’t heard of him having one. Maybe he couldn’t get a real one, so he’s settling for a fake,” one snorted.
“Didn’t expect Lan Hu to become such a big boss. If I’d known he’d be this successful, I would’ve tried to get closer to him back in the capital.”
“It’s not too late now.”
“Yeah, but now that guy’s all puffed up and harder to approach.”
“Changed your shop’s signature item?” Chu Feng asked.
Lan Hu nodded. “Yes. The old music box, while delicate and able to play enchanting melodies, only had a few tunes. Everyone’s heard them by now.”
Chu Feng nodded in understanding.
“These dolls, though—the moment we put them on display, they were snatched up. Several girls even wanted to buy the whole set,” Lan Hu said, shaking his head.
Chu Feng thought to himself: No matter the world, women love these kinds of dolls.
Lan Hu leaned in and said, “Actually, a few young masters came by asking if we had extras for sale… and if there were larger sizes available.”
Chu Feng raised his eyebrows. These guys are into dolls too? But then it struck him—Maybe what they really want isn’t Barbie dolls, but… inflatable ones?
If he brought inflatable dolls next time, he might be able to sell them for a fortune.
But then he shook his head. Forget it. Last time, he accidentally brought an adult comic and Illya ended up burning half of it. If he brought inflatable dolls and got caught, they’d probably all get torched. There were plenty of things he could sell for coins—no need to take that kind of risk.
Besides, if people from Earth found out he was ordering inflatable dolls, his image would take a hit. He was considered a millionaire now—a man popular with the ladies!
“You’re pretty popular with girls now, huh?” Chu Feng teased.
Lan Hu laughed awkwardly. “Oh, not really.”
Back then, he was just a guy with a good family background. Now, he could be called a successful businessman. Lately, quite a few women had been flirting with him—but they weren’t after him, just trying to sweet-talk their way into getting shop goods for free.
After touring Tianhai City, Chu Feng bought another batch of Northern Wine.
Most of the wine he brought back last time was given to Zhuang Feixue.
Zhuang Feixue later called him, saying her father had taken a good portion of the wine. She’d already set aside a share for him, but her father finished it quickly. Embarrassed, he still couldn’t resist the temptation of good wine and pestered his daughter for more.
Zhuang Feixue was annoyed and had to avoid him to get some peace.
Chu Feng always thought the wine from the other world was good, but he hadn’t expected it to be this popular.
After wandering around in the other world, he brought back another batch of strengthening potions and dozens of bottles of wine and returned to the villa.
As soon as he arrived, he saw Hughes staring at him with glowing eyes, like a starving wolf.
“What are you doing?” Chu Feng asked, looking at the disheveled Hughes.
“Boss, the computer crashed.”
Chu Feng rolled his eyes when he heard Hughes say that.
Lin Zhihao had suspected that Hughes might crash from staying online day and night, but unexpectedly, Hughes was fine—his computer crashed first.
“So it crashed, whatever.” Hughes rubbed his hands and tried to curry favor. “It’s just a computer, only about ten thousand yuan. Boss, can you buy another one—”
Chu Feng rolled his eyes again and said, “Buy what! I think you should take a proper rest. Your dark circles are really bad.”
Hughes gave an awkward laugh. “Dark circles? Aren’t those a symbol of charm? Don’t people here like smoky eye makeup? I’m just saving the effort of putting it on.”
Chu Feng: “Dark circles and smoky eye makeup are not the same thing, okay?”
“Go to sleep now. How long has it been since you’ve rested?”
Hughes frowned. “It’s fine even if I don’t sleep.”
Chu Feng crossed his arms. “How can you not sleep? You’ve already lost your beard. If you go bald too, no dwarven woman will want to marry you.”
Hughes touched his head. “You’re probably right.”
Chu Feng turned around. “I’m going to sleep. Boss, that computer…”
Chu Feng nodded. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll get you a new one.”
Chu Feng walked into the study and was startled by the computer.
“What happened to it?” The whole screen was shattered.
Duoduo walked in and said, “Uncle Hughes seemed to find something amazing. He slammed into the screen headfirst and broke it.”
Chu Feng: “…I knew it. No way the computer was a dud—it was Hughes who wrecked it.”
Gray looked at the cracked screen and said, “Uncle Hughes’ head is really hard. The screen’s shattered, but his head is perfectly fine.”
Chu Feng called Lin Zhihao and asked him to help buy a new computer, then carried a bunch of strengthening liquid to the bathroom.
Chu Feng filled the bathtub with hot water, poured in the strengthening liquid, and soaked his entire body in it. As the liquid slowly entered his system, he felt itchy all over. A tingling sensation rushed through him as the strengthening liquid was absorbed, and Chu Feng could clearly feel his physique improving.
*
“Chu Feng went back to that small city again?” Elder Zhuang asked.
Zhuang Zhenyang nodded. “Seems like it. Probably for a trip. Young people love spontaneous travel. Feixue said she can’t reach him often—maybe he’s in the mountains with no signal.”
Elder Zhuang shook his head. “Young people these days really aren’t pragmatic.”
Zhuang Zhenyang looked at his father and thought: Chu Feng’s already worth nearly a billion and you still say he’s not pragmatic? If he were any more pragmatic, he’d surpass even you.
As people reach middle age, all sorts of health issues pop up. One of his friends told him he had severe hair loss before, but after taking the Beauty Elixir, not only did the hair stop falling out—he actually grew new hair.
In wealthy circles, many rich men suffer from balding. Initially, they didn’t care much about the Beauty Elixir—until they found out it could cure baldness. After that, male bosses started scrambling for it even harder than the women.
The wine Chu Feng gave to Feixue didn’t seem ordinary either. It apparently had a similar effect, though milder.
Zhuang Zhenyang drank quite a bit and felt his body improving noticeably. He figured that if his son were motivated, he could earn a lot just selling that wine.
He used to think he could help support his son’s career, but after a few bottles of that wine, he suddenly felt that the younger generation would surpass the old. Maybe he’d be relying on Chu Feng instead.
*
“A Yang, I heard you got a bunch of Monkey Wine?”
Zhuang Zhenyang gave an awkward smile. “Not that much, really.”
The other day, during a gathering with drinking buddies, he accidentally mentioned the Monkey Wine. His friends pressured him into sharing, and he had no choice but to painfully open two bottles.
Monkey Wine isn’t easy to come by. Zhuang Zhenyang had been drinking it sparingly, and losing two bottles at once really hurt.
He thought to himself: Is the old man eyeing my Monkey Wine now? That’d be bad—I barely have enough for myself!
Back in his younger days, the old man was a real drinker. It was only in recent years, with his health declining, that he turned toward a healthier lifestyle.
“Dad, the doctor said you shouldn’t drink alcohol.”
Elder Zhuang smiled. “Ordinary alcohol, yes. But I heard your wine not only won’t harm the body—it can actually strengthen it.”
Zhuang Zhenyang gave a dry laugh. “That’s just rumors. It’s still wine, after all.”
“Relax. My health’s improved a lot recently. A little wine won’t hurt.”
After taking the Health Elixir, Elder Zhuang felt more energetic than before. In fact, he still had one more elixir, but Illya had mentioned last time that the Health Elixir was too strong to be used for long-term wellness, so the old man hadn’t dared to continue.
*
“Does Feixue have any other elixirs?”
“At this stage, there are only three types: Slimming Elixir, Health Elixir, and Beauty Elixir. All sold out.”
The old man frowned. “No new ones?”
Zhuang Zhenyang remembered Illya once said they could ask some shaman to help develop a true health elixir. Back then, the old man dismissed it in anger—now he was probably regretting it.
Zhuang Zhenyang thought to himself: If there really is a health elixir, the market for it would be huge.
He hesitated. “Probably none yet… but we can ask Feixue to check.”
He let out a sigh of relief internally. His relationship with his son wasn’t close enough for such requests. His older daughter and second son had a better bond with the old man. If Feixue asked, she might be able to get more wine.
*
Outside, Zhuang Ming stood looking toward the study, her face tense.
“What’s Grandpa talking to Second Uncle about? It’s been ages and they’re still in there.”
Zhuang Zhiming shook his head grimly. “Who knows.”
A few days ago, their grandfather had even invited Chu Feng and Illya for dinner. To avoid conflict, their side of the family wasn’t invited.
Zhuang Zhiming thought darkly: Grandpa isn’t planning to pass the family estate to Second Uncle, is he? That’d be a disaster.
Lately, the old man seemed very interested in Chu Feng. At his age, wealth and power were meaningless—what mattered was longevity.
And if Chu Feng had all those magical elixirs… maybe he also had something for long life.
The more Zhuang Zhiming thought about it, the darker his expression grew.
He had thought that once Chu Feng’s background was exposed, the second family would be humiliated. But things had gone the opposite way.
If he had known it would turn out like this, he would’ve stopped Zhuang Ming from revealing Zhuang Fei’s identity back then.
Zhuang Ming glanced at Zhuang Zhiming and said, “Have you heard about the monkey wine?”
Zhuang Zhiming nodded. “Yeah, I’ve heard of it.”
Zhuang Ming rolled his eyes. “Isn’t it just wine brewed by wild monkeys? What’s the big deal? People are calling it some kind of immortal brew—saying it cures baldness, lowers blood pressure. Why don’t they just claim it grants immortality?”
Zhuang Zhiming actually agreed with Zhuang Ming, but despite thinking it was overhyped, he couldn’t help being a little curious. He’d heard the wine was found by Chu Feng in the deep mountains.
Zhuang Ming frowned and said, “This Chu Feng is really getting full of himself.”
Su Manqing opened the door and saw Zhuang Zhenyang lying on the floor, startled.
Su Manqing said speechlessly, “What are you doing?”
Zhuang Zhenyang replied awkwardly, “Checking on my wine.”
Su Manqing was exasperated. “It’s just a few bottles of wine. One minute you’re hiding them here, the next you’re moving them there, then checking on them like they’re treasure. Don’t you find it exhausting?”
Zhuang Zhenyang laughed awkwardly. “Well, lots of people are eyeing my wine.”
Su Manqing shook her head. “Look at how little ambition you have.”
Zhuang Zhenyang chuckled. “I just really like this stuff. And now even the old man is onto me.”
Some of his wine had already been drunk by a few freeloading friends, and now the old man had taken two bottles of monkey wine—Zhuang Zhenyang felt the heartache.
“This Hundred Flower Honey Wine actually tastes pretty good,” he said. He had initially assumed it was just sugary water, but after tasting it, he realized it had a unique flavor—mild alcohol but rich in character.
Su Manqing nodded. “Yeah, it does taste good.”
Zhuang Zhenyang said seriously, “This wine isn’t something you should casually give away. One bottle and suddenly you’ve got a pack of wolves at your door.”
Su Manqing nodded. “Alright, alright. I think Feixue still has some.”
Zhuang Zhenyang smiled sheepishly. “Feixue’s really something now.”
Now, big bosses are scrambling to get close to her, and even he, a big boss himself, doesn’t have as many connections as his own daughter.
He used to think it was nonsense when his eldest daughter entered the entertainment industry, and he hadn’t supported her much. But now when he faced her, he felt a little lacking in confidence.
The fame of the monkey wine in the capital continued to grow, and Chu Feng was once again thrust into the spotlight.
If it had just been ordinary monkey wine, it wouldn’t have caused such a stir. But because it came from Chu Feng—who was already known for his miraculous elixirs—people instinctively believed his wine wasn’t ordinary either. And with the wine having some noticeable effects, the legends only grew.
Many in the capital were offering high prices for monkey wine. After the elixirs, now people were pestering Zhuang Feixue for wine, leaving her both happy and overwhelmed.
Chu Feng wasn’t too aware of all this. He spent his days either out searching for witch stones or cultivating in his villa while watching over a few guests from another world.
