Chapter 92
[Congratulations! Special mission completed successfully! You rescued the eleven children trapped in the church basement! Reward: 12,000 twist coins!]
[Notice: 60% of the Firearms Zone has now been unlocked. Purchase according to your needs. Do not hoard blindly.]
[The little house owner and little companions stayed calm under pressure, brave and resourceful. Reward: one surprise spin on the lucky wheel!]
A silver spinning wheel appeared on the panel, covered in colorful lollipops.
Guanguan poked one of the candy icons with his little finger and wrinkled his nose. “This lollipop bit Guanguan!”
Wei Cheng was surprised. “Hm? When did this lollipop bite you?” He only gave Guanguan little milk candies once in a while.
Guanguan’s big eyes darted around. He cupped his chubby face with his soft little hands, trying to act cute his way through the issue. “Brother, what do you want? Guanguan will win it for you!”
“I’m not in a hurry for that. I just want to know how this candy bit you.” Wei Cheng crouched down and raised a brow. “When children lie, their noses grow longer.”
Guanguan gasped and quickly covered his nose. “Baby’s nose mustn’t grow longer!”
“Then tell me.”
Guanguan nodded at once. He made a driving motion with both hands and wiggled his butt three times. “Guanguan was driving his little red car around in there.”
“And then?”
Baby stretched one short leg out like he was getting out of the “little red car,” then covered his mouth with one hand. “Wow! So many pretty candies! The round ones were the prettiest!”
He really was a little acting genius.
Wei Cheng squeezed his soft little hand, a bit worried. “Did baby eat a lot?”
Guanguan shook his head and answered honestly, “I only licked it once. The round candy was bad. It made baby’s throat too sweet. Then I put it back.”
When they bought things that cheap, the system usually did not deduct the money immediately.
Only when the total reached one thousand yuan, meaning one twist coin, would the balance actually change.
Who knew whether the system had designed it that way on purpose, just to tempt little kids into sneaking candy!
Definitely an indulgent, doting system.
Wei Cheng brought Guanguan to the “crime scene.”
The candy section had whole shelves filled with all kinds of sweets. The moment they got close, the sweet smell hit them in the face.
The criminal suspect Guanguan pointed at the scene happily. “Brother, it was here!”
This whole wall was lined with pretty but way-too-sweet inexpensive candy.
That lollipop with the little bite mark in the wrapper was still lying quietly on the bottom shelf.
The victimized candy itself didn’t even have an actual bite mark.
His Guanguan probably had just been curious.
Judge Wei, utterly biased in favor of his younger brother, justified him in his heart.
He picked up the candy. “It really is very pretty. Does Guanguan want to bite it and taste it?”
Guanguan waved both hands to refuse and advised him seriously, “Brother, this candy tastes a little bad.”
Opened food could not just stay sitting in the store.
Even though nothing in the shop would ever melt or spoil.
Wei Cheng slipped the lollipop into his pocket. “Then let’s put it in the storage room.”
He stood up and rubbed Guanguan’s little head, reflecting on himself. “Brother usually doesn’t let you eat much candy because I’m afraid your teeth will get bad. But I think I overlooked the fact that you’re a very curious little baby. So today, Brother will take you around and let you look at the candy shelves.”
Guanguan’s little face lit up with delight. “Really!”
Wei Cheng picked him up. “Really. Come on, let’s look together.”
They started from the cheap candy shelves and worked their way to the more expensive ones.
Guanguan ended up carrying several candy boxes in his arms.
Wei Cheng said, “Some candies look very pretty and eye-catching, but they also have lots of bad things inside that can give little babies cavities. They can make your brain slower too.”
Guanguan pulled out a bag full of candy shaped like little soccer balls. “This one?”
Wei Cheng nodded. “Right.”
Guanguan hesitated a bit. “If baby gets cavities, will baby still be pretty?”
Wei Cheng answered honestly, “If your teeth turn black, then you won’t be pretty anymore.”
Guanguan’s smile vanished at once. He decisively threw the soccer-ball candy aside. “Don’t want it!”
He could become a dumb Guanguan if he had to, but under no circumstances could he become an ugly Guanguan.
In the end, the candies left in his hands were a few slightly more expensive boxes made with more natural ingredients and still pretty to look at.
Watching Guanguan hugging the candy boxes and grinning from ear to ear, Wei Cheng smiled too. “Then it’s settled. One candy a week. And in the future, when you come into the shop by yourself, you’re not allowed to secretly lick the candy anymore.”
Guanguan raised his little chin. “No more licking. Quit already!”
Wei Cheng was charmed by how adorable he was. He rubbed his fluffy little curls. “Go on then. Put these candies wherever you like. Brother is going to see what’s changed in the Firearms Zone.”
“When do we spin the wheel?” Guanguan still hadn’t forgotten.
Wei Cheng said, “No rush. We’ll do it later.”
He kept thinking about what Zhou Qing had said that day: “The major bases are holding a conference about mutant zombies.”
Mutant zombies were certainly worth taking seriously, but for several major bases to stir up that much fuss and hold a conference, that felt a little strange.
He had a feeling the reward on this spin would be richer than usual.
Better to save it for a critical moment and let Lucky Emperor Guanguan take the shot then.
Wei Cheng walked into the Firearms Zone. This extra 10% of unlocked content hadn’t expanded the size of the whole glass room.
But the moment he stepped inside, he noticed the difference.
There was more combat gear on the walls.
Then, farther in, two large wooden crates had suddenly appeared on the floor, with a few words scrawled in black charcoal on the front.
Defensive M67 grenade: In service for over a hundred years. Approximate kill radius: 20 meters. Heavier. 2,000 twist coins each.
Offensive Mk3A2 grenade: Approximate kill radius: 5 meters. Lighter. 500 twist coins each.
The reason defensive grenades cost more than offensive grenades was obvious: the former had a much wider kill radius.
For example, if mutant zombies brought a horde to besiege the farm again, they could simply throw a few defensive grenades from behind the steel walls and save themselves a huge amount of effort.
As for offensive grenades, those were suited to small-range engagements. Like that time when they entered the church and ran straight into six black-robed figures—if they’d had one of those grenades then, they could have cleared the obstacle first, and Aunt Fa wouldn’t have died after getting her eye blown through by random gunfire.
Wei Cheng checked the account balance.
[Twist coin balance: 18,528]
[Safe house storage volume: 1,075]
[Twisty car transformation level: Intermediate Form 1,075 (Reach 2,000 to unlock 10-person escape mode)]
Two more missions, and the Intermediate Form would reach 2,000.

Breakfast was handled quickly in each little wooden house, but lunch was eaten together in Director Wang’s cabin.
Director Wang’s house was the second-largest little wooden house on the farm.
The old man liked liveliness, and he wholeheartedly welcomed the young people and children to eat there.
With the End Saints all dead, it counted as a happy occasion for the farm.
On the table were three plates of dry-fried long beans with cured pork, two large plates of soy-braised pig trotters, and a whole pot of steaming white rice.
The vacuum-sealed pig trotters had been something Wei Cheng and the others brought back from “outside” the last time.
That child really did have good luck. He’d somehow found more than ten of them.
Director Wang had originally wanted to save them for New Year’s.
“The popcorn’s ready. Who wants some?” Aunt Su Min came out carrying a plate of caramel popcorn.
“I do!”
“Me too!”
Guanguan dropped the toy car in his hand and ran over huffing, the smell drawing him in. “Auntie, it smells so good!”
The farm already had dried corn kernels. As for the sugar, it was yellow sugar packets they’d scavenged from a restaurant inside Shiguang Amusement Park.
Su Min lowered the plate and smiled. “Here, eat.”
The children immediately started grabbing and snatching at it.
Guanguan spread both his little chubby hands wide and scooped several at once. Whatever slipped between his fingers, he clutched tight, then he hurried away. “Brother, popcorn!”
Wei Cheng was laying out chopsticks. When he turned and saw him, he smiled. “You eat.”
Guanguan stuck out both hands. “Brother, hurry and eat! Guanguan can’t hold on anymore!”
Wei Cheng bent down and bit one. He was instantly won over by the caramel scent. “Tasty.”
Guanguan beamed. “Brother, eat another one!”
Wei Cheng laughed. “You eat it. Brother’s saving room for pig trotters.”
Guanguan took a huge bite out of a golden popcorn puff, swaying his head in delight. “So yummy, but it sticks to my teeth a little.”
Wei Cheng laughed. “That’s what popcorn does.”
Seeing that Guanguan had only grabbed a few and run off, Su Min called after him, “Guanguan, come back and eat more.”
Guanguan looked up at his brother.
Wei Cheng knew exactly what he meant. “It’s fine. Go eat. Grandpa saved a lot of corn kernels for you. We also picked up lots of yellow sugar. The children on the farm can all eat popcorn until they’re sick of it.”
“Yay!” The moment he heard that they had endless popcorn, Guanguan shot off like a cannonball.
Children always liked fighting over food with their little friends, and Guanguan was no exception.
The little kids played and fought over it together, and the small plate of popcorn disappeared in no time.
Su Min laughed. “All right, go eat now. Auntie will make more later.”
Before long, Shen Zheng, Ying Hui, and the others arrived one after another.
Aside from Sun Dali, whose injuries were more severe and who couldn’t be exposed to the wind, everyone else came to eat—either leaning on someone else or using a crutch.
The little wooden house was packed with warmth and noise.
Director Wang looked at the scene, and the wrinkles on his face deepened with his smile.
Wei Cheng glanced around. “Where’s Uncle Yi?”
Shen Zheng replied, “He’s still over at the sheep pen. He’ll be back in a minute.”
He sat down next to the Wei brothers and let out an exaggerated “ah.” “What smell is that on Guanguan? Why are you so fragrant?”
Guanguan’s feet swung under the chair. “It’s popcorn!”
He put down his chopsticks with a smack, dug into the furry sweater pocket, and took out one piece of popcorn. “Uncle Shen, for you.”
The popcorn was covered in little white sweater fibers.
That made Ying Hui and Lin Xiangfeng start teasing him at once. “Guanguan, why don’t brothers get any?”
“Yeah, why don’t we get any?”
Guanguan waved his little chubby hand wisely. “Don’t make noise, don’t make noise. It’s this popcorn’s fault. It only wants Uncle Shen to eat it!”
Not because Guanguan was biased, of course.
Shen Zheng was instantly delighted. He doted on children to begin with, and he’d just been about to grab the popcorn and toss it into his mouth when Chengcheng took it away instead.
Wei Cheng laughed helplessly. “Uncle Shen, this popcorn is covered in fuzz from Guanguan’s pocket. No matter how much you spoil him, you still can’t eat that.”
Right then, Uncle Yi’s shout came from outside.
“Good news! Good news!”
Yi Qi burst in with sheep wool all over his hair and shouted excitedly, “Guess what I found! Elizabeth is pregnant!”
Everyone lit up. “Really?”
“That’s wonderful!”
The farm would have lambs in the future. Unlimited lamb skewers!
