Reborn in the Apocalypse: I Decide to Cling to My Roommate’s Thigh – CH33

Chapter 33

The two of them headed to Training Field No. 2.

When they arrived, Ye Xuan could not help sighing emotionally. The training field for official team members and the training field for reserve team members were simply worlds apart.

The floor was made of PVC plastic and used some other craftsmanship Ye Xuan did not know about. He could feel that the sensation under his feet was different from the PVC floors he had stepped on before.

The entire venue must have been wrapped in high-strength materials on all sides. At the far end was an identification door.

Xia Chenxi told him that door led to the central training field.

The entire Training Field No. 2 was divided into four venues. The middle was the central training field, which had many rooms for ability users to train individually. Using them required merit points or battle points to purchase training time. The other three venues surrounding the central training field were used respectively by the three squads of Team 2.

“You mean Team 2 is divided into three squads?” Ye Xuan tilted his head and asked.

As Xia Chenxi led him forward, he answered, “That’s right. Team 2 is divided into Teams A, B, and C. Members enter them according to ability level. The venue you’re in now is Venue A. Usually, my teammates and I train here together.”

A boy with bright red hair, wearing a tank top and shorts, walked over. From a distance, he looked like he had a torch on his head.

“Xia Chenxi, the base gave you two days off, yet you still ran to the venue to train. If you don’t want the break, give it to me.”

He noticed Ye Xuan beside him and enthusiastically extended a hand. “Hello, I’m Guan Yu, Xia Chenxi’s teammate.”

Ye Xuan also reached out and shook his hand. “Hello, Ye Xuan, Xia Chenxi’s roommate.”

Guan Yu circled Ye Xuan in surprise. “So you’re Xia Chenxi’s roommate. Your relationship with Xia Chenxi is really good, huh? He always gives everyone that dead-fish face, looking like he rejects people from a thousand miles away. I thought he was born like that.”

Ye Xuan smiled. “Your relationship with him seems pretty good too.”

If their relationship were bad, Xia Chenxi would probably have dragged him away directly instead of stopping to listen to an unrelated person talk nonsense.

“Aiya.” Guan Yu scratched his hair, making a patch at the back stick up like an overturned dyed chicken nest. “If I hadn’t shamelessly pestered him, this guy still wouldn’t be willing to talk to me now.”

Guan Yu bumped Xia Chenxi’s shoulder and asked, “Right?”

“Or maybe someone has double standards.”

Ye Xuan did not understand the deeper meaning, but Xia Chenxi heard it clearly.

This guy Guan Yu was saying he treated Ye Xuan differently from others.

Wasn’t that how it should be? He had absolutely no plans to develop deeper relationships with other people. Being teammates was enough.

As for Guan Yu, ever since Xia Chenxi had first entered the official team, he had stuck to him like cowhide candy. After Xia Chenxi unintentionally saved him during a mission, Guan Yu had wrapped around him like a python.

But fortunately, after Xia Chenxi tested Guan Yu with a few little schemes, Guan Yu had shown a wise kind of stupidity every time.

So Xia Chenxi stopped preventing Guan Yu from rambling beside him.

Sometimes, two-person cooperation was needed within the squad, and Guan Yu happened to cooperate well with him. During missions, Guan Yu had never made any major mistakes either, so he counted as a reliable teammate.

But he was too noisy.

Chattering nonstop. Just like now, he was grabbing Ye Xuan and asking him questions left and right, as if he wished he could even ask what color Ye Xuan’s underwear was.

Ye Xuan was also in a difficult position. The person in front of him was far too enthusiastic—so enthusiastic that he could not handle it. So he cast a pleading look toward Xia Chenxi.

Xia Chenxi lifted his eyelids slightly and swept his gaze toward Guan Yu. The fierce look formed by those sanpaku eyes made Guan Yu shiver.

Guan Yu released the claw grabbing Ye Xuan and chuckled. “Ye Xuan, then I’ll go train. You two keep busy.”

After saying that, Guan Yu immediately ran off without stopping, his running posture free and unrestrained.

The corner of Ye Xuan’s mouth twitched. “Your friend really is special.”

Xia Chenxi corrected him. “Not a friend. A teammate I’m relatively close to.”

Was there any difference?

Then to Xia Chenxi, was he just a roommate he was relatively close to?

Xia Chenxi brought Ye Xuan to the identification door. Along the way, quite a few people came over to greet him, but Xia Chenxi treated them like air and ignored all of them.

[Iris recognition successful. Xia Chenxi, member of Team 2A.]

The door opened, and the two walked in.

The central venue was one of the rare places in the entire base that truly felt technological. In the middle was a large screen recording each team member’s room number and usage time, along with a rotating display of challenge match records.

The whole venue spiraled upward in a cone shape. The higher it went, the fewer and larger the rooms became.

“Each room is equipped with virtual VR equipment. After putting it on, you can enter a virtual world to fight zombies and improve your combat experience. Every Friday, challenge matches open. Before then, ability users can voluntarily sign up. The system will arrange rooms according to ranking, and ability users will enter different rooms to participate in the challenge matches in the virtual world.”

“Challenge matches are a very good opportunity for ability users. Not only can they obtain free room training time, but after the challenge match settlement, they can also receive generous rewards and battle points.”

Ye Xuan listened carefully to what Xia Chenxi said, not daring to miss a single word.

Walking farther ahead, there was the registration desk of the central venue.

A banner was hung behind the registration desk:

[Congratulations to Ability User Nan Yunzhou for winning first place in the Advanced Challenge Match with a record of 20 consecutive victories.]

Ye Xuan was briefly surprised, then withdrew his gaze. This was also within his expectations. The little bit of strength Nan Yunzhou had shown in front of him had already been very impressive.

Xia Chenxi’s eyes darkened, and his knuckles curled inside his pocket. Last Friday, when he had participated in the challenge match for the first time, he had already made it to the intermediate challenge match.

Next time, if he faced Nan Yunzhou, he would definitely beat him until he was utterly defeated.

Today was Monday. There were still four days until the challenge match.

Ye Xuan stood in front of Xia Chenxi and did not see Xia Chenxi’s expression, but the registrar was nearly scared to death.

What was with that big guy’s expression like he wanted to kill someone? Hey!

Xia Chenxi’s gaze moved to the registrar. The registrar broke out in cold sweat and immediately sat up straight, looking at the computer.

“Hello, what service do you need?”

“I’m a new ability user here to report in.”

Ye Xuan saw the registrar suddenly sit upright like he was facing a superior. When he turned back and saw Xia Chenxi’s gloomy expression, he kicked him.

Xia Chenxi glanced at him in confusion.

Ye Xuan pointed at his own face, signaling Xia Chenxi not to scare the registrar.

Xia Chenxi innocently touched his own face. His expression was just like this. It was clearly this registrar’s psychological endurance that was too poor.

He crossed his arms and tried to look at the registrar with a normal expression.

An invisible, chilling gaze fell on the registrar, making the pressure on him even greater.

He cried bitterly in his heart, but on the surface, he still had to maintain a proper smile.

“Please take off your wristband so we can enter your information.”

Ye Xuan took off his wristband and handed it to the registrar. After scanning it, the registrar confirmed Ye Xuan’s information and entered it into the computer, then returned the wristband to Ye Xuan.

He stood up, posture so straight he looked like a greeter, showed an eight-tooth smile, and raised his hand. “Please follow me.”

Ye Xuan kicked Xia Chenxi behind him again. It had to be Xia Chenxi scaring the registrar again.

Xia Chenxi innocently rubbed his calf.

He was really getting shot while just standing there.
