Chapter 78: Put Me on Your Household Register
Jiang Rong’s vision was blurred by tears. He blinked, naturally unable to care about the attention from people around him.
“Y-you… why are you here?”
He Siming wiped away his tears, sighed, and asked nothing.
“It’s so late and you still hadn’t gone back. I was worried about you, so I came over.”
Jiang Rong’s world filled with sunlight again; his eyes, washed clean by tears, looked even brighter.
“You followed me the whole way? Why didn’t you call me?”
Driver Chen had taken him to the restaurant and then left. He’d come here by taxi with the director-mom.
He Siming hadn’t called him—probably because he didn’t want to interrupt his conversation with the director.
He Siming sighed. “You two seemed to be chatting just fine. And then you cried over someone and something unimportant again?”
If Jiang Rong weren’t from here, he shouldn’t know the director at all—there’d be no reason to cry over a stranger.
Jiang Rong shook his head. “They’re not unimportant.”
With people coming and going around them, He Siming grabbed his wrist and led him toward a quieter direction.
He Siming took him down to the riverbank. At night, the river shimmered with rippling light. On both sides of the bank, a dazzling light show glowed; sightseeing boats moved slowly along the center of the river. The banks on either side were lively and bustling, like an oil painting—many tourists stopped to take photos.
Jiang Rong’s gloomy mood was instantly soothed.
He Siming told him, “This is the most beautiful river in autumn. Day and night offer different views.”
Jiang Rong rubbed his eyes. He hadn’t left the capital, yet he was seeing a different kind of scenery.
Holding Jiang Rong’s hand, He Siming walked forward. They passed many graffiti-covered backdrop walls. He Siming took photos and checked in with him, and Jiang Rong temporarily forgot his worries.
Along the riverbanks there wasn’t only beautiful scenery—there was great food, too.
Once Jiang Rong’s head cleared, he calculated the time He Siming must have left.
“Have you not eaten dinner yet?” he asked.
He Siming pressed his lips into a line and looked at him. “No.”
Jiang Rong’s eyes filled with concern. “Then why didn’t you say so?”
“I’m not that hungry.” He Siming brushed aside the hair on his forehead—it had grown longer and needed trimming. His wife’s mood always came first.
“This is all my fault.” Jiang Rong started blaming himself.
He Siming flicked his brow lightly. “What are you blaming yourself for? What’s wrong with eating earlier or later?”
Without caring about the public setting, Jiang Rong hugged his waist tightly. “He Siming, what do you want to eat?”
He Siming chuckled. “You.”
Jiang Rong let go. “Be serious. Don’t starve yourself. I didn’t eat much tonight either—shall we eat together?”
He Siming said, “That place up ahead. I originally wanted to take you for barbecue, but the barbecue here isn’t authentic. We’ll go somewhere else next time.”
He hadn’t wandered over here without purpose.
Jiang Rong asked, “How do you know so much?”
“Ding Yan is always checking in at places to eat, drink, and have fun. You pick things up naturally.”
Jiang Rong did often see Ding Yan sharing food-and-fun links in their small group chat. He just hadn’t expected He Siming to pay attention.
There were many restaurants along the river that combined dining and bar vibes. He Siming chose one of those.
It was peak lively time; there was even a band performing at the entrance, singing mellow pop songs.
They chose a booth near a corner.
The restaurant’s décor leaned toward darker tones, which protected diners’ privacy well.
The advantage of a booth was that the two of them could sit close together.
After ordering, He Siming wrapped an arm possessively around Jiang Rong and asked, “Who was that ‘unimportant’ person you mentioned?”
Jiang Rong looked left and right. There really was no one nearby, but in such a romantic setting he didn’t want to bring up anyone else.
“Do we have to talk about it now? Can we talk at home? Let’s eat first—we don’t get to come out like this often.”
He Siming didn’t press him. “Alright.”
He didn’t want to ruin the mood either. Besides, tonight Jiang Rong hadn’t mentioned their son even once. That alone made him feel much better—finally, the top spot in Jiang Rong’s heart wasn’t occupied by that tiny little snot-nosed brat.
Since getting together, they’d hardly ever gone on a date like this.
Jiang Rong noticed the drink menu on the table. A Blue Margarita caught his eye.
“He Siming, can I drink this?”
“You sure?”
“I want to try it.”
Ever since that time in a bar when he’d taken a sip of the drink Ding Yan handed him, he’d hardly touched alcohol. The strongest alcohol taste he’d had afterward was during his postpartum period, when the aunt cooked sweet rice wine eggs. He only later learned from He Siming that it helped with milk production—his face had turned red on the spot, and he ignored He Siming for half a day.
“I’m driving, so I won’t touch alcohol,” He Siming said. “If you want to drink, order one and try it.”
Jiang Rong nodded vigorously. “Mm!”
Once He Siming started eating, it was clear he really was hungry. He always ate seriously and never wasted food—whatever was served, he could finish.
Jiang Rong wasn’t very hungry. He ate half, and He Siming finished the rest.
After He Siming finished eating, he turned and saw that Jiang Rong had already drained his margarita. When he looked up, Jiang Rong’s cheeks were flushed a peachy pink, and faint pheromones drifted into He Siming’s nose.
He’d noticed it long ago: whenever Jiang Rong couldn’t control his emotions or had needs, his pheromones would grow stronger—like a signal inviting him to dance.
He Siming smiled and asked, “How do you feel after drinking it?”
Jiang Rong blinked, his gaze a little unfocused. “A bit sweet. Pretty good.”
“Dizzy?”
Jiang Rong shook his head. “Not dizzy, but my body feels a little hot.” Somewhat like the onset of heat.
Judging by his state, he wasn’t really drunk—just a bit flushed.
Possessiveness stirred. He didn’t want anyone else to see Jiang Rong like this.
Seeing how soft and easily bullied Jiang Rong looked, He Siming said, “You’re full. Let’s go home now.”
Jiang Rong nodded obediently. “Mm, okay.”
He Siming made a mental note to remind him that when they were out, he absolutely couldn’t drink.
They’d walked a bit far and had to go back to get the car. He Siming held Jiang Rong’s hand as they walked back along the riverbank.
On the way, Jiang Rong’s eyes were drawn to candied hawthorns sold by street vendors. He Siming didn’t let him eat from stalls, worried about hygiene, so he went to a proper shop and got him a skewer.
Jiang Rong chose one with red and green fruits. He bit into one—sweet and syrupy.
Then he held it out to He Siming. “He Siming, want one?”
He Siming wanted to refuse, but when he met those sparkling eyes, he took a bite. It really was sweet.
“Very sweet.”
Jiang Rong agreed. “So sweet. But you can’t eat it every day—too sweet. And the sugar sticks to your teeth.”
Watching him earnestly evaluate the candied hawthorn with such lively expressions, He Siming found him unbearably adorable. Unable to resist, he pulled him under a tree where a string of colored lights had gone out, cupped his face, and kissed him hard.
Jiang Rong, probably because he’d had some alcohol, reacted a little slowly. One hand held the skewer; the other gripped the sleeve of He Siming’s dark shirt.
He couldn’t control his desire to be close to He Siming. He’d already been wanting it a little; now He Siming was offering himself right up.
He Siming had only meant to steal a simple kiss because Jiang Rong looked so pure and cute. But faced with Jiang Rong’s completely unguarded, innocent expression, desire spread endlessly in his heart, burning hot.
How could someone who’d already had a child still have eyes as pure as a teenager’s—making him want to treasure him beyond measure?
Jiang Rong could feel He Siming’s gaze grow scorching. He tugged at He Siming’s collar.
“He Siming… w-we’re outside.”
Sometimes he felt that He Siming’s sexual tension was especially strong—maybe the cool, aloof demeanor was just to hide the aggression in his eyes.
“I know. Then let’s go home.”
Jiang Rong’s face was burning—partly from kissing He Siming on the street, partly from what awaited them at home.
Even though they’d done it countless times, gone through two heats, and even had a child, he still felt shy whenever intimacy was mentioned outside. He wasn’t like Yao Shule, who could talk about these things openly. He probably wouldn’t ever change.
He Siming rubbed his cheek and laughed softly. “What are you thinking about now?”
Jiang Rong shook his head. “Nothing.” He finished the last two candied fruits. So sweet. With He Siming around, it felt like the whole world tasted sweet.
On the drive back, He Siming couldn’t help but speed up—impatient and fired up.
But once they arrived home, he didn’t let Jiang Rong go inside right away. They kissed in the car for a long while, only getting out when things were about to get out of hand.
It was already ten at night. At this hour, He Shenglin should have been asleep for a long time.
Just to be safe, He Siming still told Jiang Rong to move quietly.
Jiang Rong smiled. Then remembering He Siming’s caution, he covered his mouth—was it really necessary to be that careful?
Seeing him smile, He Siming knew he wasn’t taking their private time seriously.
After changing shoes, He Siming held Jiang Rong’s hand and tiptoed upstairs. The elevator would make noise, so they took the stairs—sneaking home like thieves.
Jiang Rong whispered, “Linlin sleeps in the nursery. Even if we pass by, we won’t wake him, right?”
He Siming said, “Not sure. Better not let him hear us. He might be sleeping with Mom.”
Jiang Rong replied, “Alright. I kind of wanted to see him.”
He Siming glanced at him. “You’ve looked at him all day. Look at me a bit more.”
“Why are you even jealous of that?”
“Anyway, you have to look at me more than you look at him every day.”
“He’s only three months old.”
“Even if he went back to being three weeks old, it wouldn’t work.”
“……”
Jiang Rong finally understood why He Siming didn’t like kids. Even if he wasn’t a real Alpha, his possessiveness was no less than one.
They passed the nursery. The door was slightly ajar, and there was no sound from He Shenglin.
Good. Safe.
Despite being only three months old, He Shenglin had excellent hearing. He could recognize which dad it was just by the sound. If he heard Jiang Rong’s voice, he’d hum loudly; if Jiang Rong was there but didn’t respond, he’d hum a couple more times. If it was He Siming, he’d hum too, but not for long—he’d calmly accept that Dad He wasn’t picking him up.
With no little brat to interrupt, He Siming cheerfully pushed open their master bedroom door.
The bedside lamp was on.
They exchanged a glance—and saw Xu Mingqin sitting on the bed, coaxing He Shenglin.
She rubbed her lower back. “You two finally came back. Hurry and soothe him. He wouldn’t sleep in my room—only calmed down when I put him on your bed.”
He Siming looked at the wide-awake He Shenglin and fell silent. “……”
Jiang Rong lowered his head and smiled. They’d been on guard all night, only to find He Shenglin right in their room.
He stepped forward. “We’ve got it now. Please go rest.”
“Alright. I’m going out tomorrow. You two get some rest early.”
She didn’t care how wild they’d been outside—taking care of a baby was exhausting.
Having a grandson was nice, but watching him all day was tiring. She’d slip away tomorrow and let He Zhixian take over for a couple of days.
After He Siming closed the door, he stood by the bed, looking at He Shenglin, who still refused to sleep.
Jiang Rong looked up at him. They stared at each other—then both laughed.
“You go shower first,” Jiang Rong said. “I’ll put him to sleep.”
He Siming really was tired. He’d come back in the evening without resting for a moment before going out to find Jiang Rong.
When he came out of the shower, He Shenglin’s eyelids were already drooping. He Siming took over soothing him and kissed Jiang Rong on the cheek.
“You go wash. I’ll handle it.”
By the time Jiang Rong finished showering and came out, He Shenglin was already fast asleep. In truth, He Siming was better at getting the baby to sleep than he was. He Shenglin usually relied on He Siming a bit more—after all, He Siming spent more time taking care of him.
Only the bedside lamp was on in the room. The living room lights were still lit, and He Siming had turned on the computer.
Jiang Rong gently closed the bedroom door and walked over. “Busy?”
He Siming pulled him onto his lap. “Not busy. Waiting for you.”
Jiang Rong sat down on his lap naturally. Without saying anything else, he kissed He Siming. His pheromones wrapped around him.
There was no reason for He Siming to let go of such a big piece of meat delivered right to his mouth. The desire he’d suppressed all evening finally found its way in.
As they kissed, He Siming’s hands didn’t stay idle, purposefully tugging at Jiang Rong’s sleepwear.
Suddenly, He Siming paused. “Jiang Rongrong… you’re not wearing underwear?”
Jiang Rong looped his arms around his neck, buried his slightly flushed face in the crook of his neck, and nodded faintly.
“I—I wanted to save time. If Linlin wakes up, he’ll need milk.” Not getting a response, he lifted his head. “You don’t like it?”
He Siming answered with action—showing exactly how much he liked it.
As he pressed him into the sofa, he murmured in Jiang Rong’s ear, “I really want to fuck you until you can’t get out of bed.”
With reddened ears, Jiang Rong said, “Then you’re really fierce.”
He Siming: “……” He truly never learned his lesson. His wife had a natural talent for seduction.
They suppressed their voices and completed the exchange of peach and lime pheromones in the living room.
Afterward, they spent more than an hour in the bathroom washing away the sweat.
By the time they came out, Jiang Rong was so sleepy he could barely keep his eyes open.
But He Siming still remembered something. Holding him, he kissed behind his ear.
“Jiang Rongrong, don’t sleep yet. You still haven’t told me who that ‘not unimportant’ person was.”
Jiang Rong froze. He wasn’t sleepy anymore. After two seconds of silence, he sat up on the bed. “Mm… he is—”
He Siming sat up beside him. “Who?”
Jiang Rong drew his legs up, resting his chin on his knees. “Your real classmate.”
Seeing him curled into a ball, He Siming said, “Jiang Rong?”
Jiang Rong nodded. “Mm. You believe me?”
He Siming pulled him into his arms, unable to bear his pitiful look. “I don’t know. But I choose to believe you.”
Wrapping his arms around He Siming’s waist, Jiang Rong told him the real secret he’d kept in his heart.
“He Siming, let me formally introduce myself to you.”
He Siming’s arm around his shoulders tightened. “Alright. Go on.”
“My name is Jiang Rong. I come from another world. On October 14 last year, I accidentally came to this world and took over Jiang Rong’s identity, living here as him—becoming a student at Qin University and your classmate. Your real classmate Jiang Rong may have gone to my world… or he may have taken his own life and disappeared.”
He sighed and continued.
“The reason I was upset today is that the director of Sunshine Home mentioned Jiang Rong’s past. He was a very good person. Perhaps because of his painful experiences, his thinking became somewhat extreme, and he might have done something drastic.”
“If something really happened to him, and I took his identity… am I a bad person?”
He Siming didn’t rush to judge whether Jiang Rong was good or bad. He didn’t need to.
With a straight face, he said, “Then it’s my turn to introduce myself. My name is He Siming, an ordinary student. Nice to meet you, Jiang Rong from another world.”
Jiang Rong wrapped his arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.
“Nice to meet you, He Siming.”
He Siming hugged his waist in return. “Nice to meet you too, Jiang Rong.”
Relaxing completely against him, Jiang Rong’s tone became much lighter. “You’re not even going to doubt me?”
He Siming replied, “Isn’t it a bit late to ask that now? We’ve gone through two heats, had a kid already. Whether you’re my classmate or not, I can tell—you two have very different personalities.” One was prickly; the other was soft, like a marshmallow hiding peach juice. “Any other secrets I don’t know?”
Jiang Rong shook his head honestly. “Nope. I’ve told you everything.”
He Siming kissed his overly honest eyes. “You don’t want to keep using Jiang Rong’s identity, right?”
“Mm. I’d feel guilty.”
“Alright. Want to hear my take?”
“I do.”
Seeing his dazed look, He Siming said, “Get on my household register. Become my family.”
Jiang Rong said, “You’re teasing me again. Without blood ties, you can’t be on the same household register. I already know that.”
He Siming sighed regretfully. “Then there’s one more way—let’s hurry up and get married.”
“Married? Isn’t—isn’t that a bit early?”
He Siming pointed at their son sleeping soundly nearby. “Didn’t he arrive even earlier?”
“……” For the first time, Jiang Rong had no reply.
