Monster Cub Live Stream – CH70

Chapter 70

The distance between Lin An’an and Xia Yuanhan was so close that Xia Yuanhan could clearly make out every detail of the face in front of him.

That familiar face made his pupils contract sharply. His expression was a mixture of horror and disbelief as he blurted out, “Xia Lin? You’re still alive?!”

After finishing his closing remarks just now, Xia Lin had only turned off the loudspeaker function on the earpiece clipped by his ear, but he had not taken it off. During the scuffle just now, it had accidentally been switched back on.

In an instant, Xia Yuanhan’s startled cry rang through the entire great hall.

Everyone—including the virtual camera still hovering overhead—almost immediately turned their gaze toward the raised platform the moment they heard the name “Xia Lin.”

“Xia Lin? Isn’t that the Third Prince’s name?”

“So it really is the Third Prince. I thought he had already…”

Whispers spread through the crowd below. Their complicated gazes all landed on Lin An’an, but he seemed not to notice at all. He gripped Xia Yuanhan’s collar hard and hauled his already weakened upper body up off the ground.

“Alpha Syndrome has killed so many people. So many people were forced to leave their homes and live on Sin Star, in such terrible conditions…”

Lin An’an spoke word by word. “Xia Yuanhan, what exactly are human lives to you? Is the throne really that important to you? Important enough that you could cast aside family ties, and even harm and use the people of the entire galaxy?”

Xia Yuanhan said nothing.

His crimes were still being displayed page after page on the enormous screen.

The moment he saw Xia Lin appear right in front of him, Xia Yuanhan already knew he had failed.

The person he had thought posed the least threat—and was certain to die—had appeared alive before him and had even turned the tables, reducing all his previous efforts to nothing.

Xia Yuanhan tugged at the corner of his mouth. His face was full of mockery, though it was impossible to tell whether he was mocking himself or something else entirely.

Lin An’an had never expected Xia Yuanhan to answer his questions. Their goal today had already basically been achieved. He was only saying these things now because those questions had been pressing on his heart for far too long, and he needed an outlet.

The unrest below the stage had already been brought under control by the First Legion under Mo Dexin’s command. Xia Changluo was helped back up onto the platform.

After Xia Yuanhan was subdued, Xia Jiyuan—who had long since become his puppet—also lost the ability to move and collapsed to the ground, completely still, like a corpse that had already lost its life.

And now that everyone present knew what Xia Yuanhan had done, they also knew that Xia Jiyuan was not really that different from a corpse anymore.

Xia Changluo lifted a hand slightly, signaling the people supporting him to step back.

Lin An’an moved forward, intending to help support the mobility-impaired Xia Changluo, but the other man grabbed his hand tightly instead.

“Alin…”

Xia Changluo’s eyes were red, and his voice trembled so badly he could barely form a complete sentence.

What Xia Changluo wanted most right now was to give his younger brother a hug. But he also knew very well that this was not the right moment for heartfelt reunion. So he suppressed all the emotions surging in his heart and turned to face the crowd below.

“In the name of the Empire’s First Prince, I hereby declare Xia Yuanhan guilty of treason. In the days to come, a public trial will be held before the entire galaxy for the traitor Xia Yuanhan.”

The First Prince’s unquestionable voice echoed through the great hall.

Xia Changluo took a deep breath, lowered his gaze to Xia Yuanhan, who was still pinned to the floor, and said in a calm voice, “Take him away.”

When Xia Yuanhan’s collusion with the people of the X-System was exposed, a major upheaval also erupted in the Federation, far away on the other side of the galaxy.

Gu Yubai, the Federation leader who had been missing for a long time, suddenly reappeared and moved in one stroke to wipe out the Elders’ stronghold.

At the time, the Elders were in the middle of a live interview, and the topic of the interview was directly related to the “long-missing” Leader Gu. Gu Yubai’s sudden appearance shocked everyone on the scene.

But what shocked them even more was that, right in front of countless virtual cameras, Gu Yubai threw out proof that the Elders had been working with the X-System and had joined forces in bringing about Alpha Syndrome.

With such massive upheavals happening simultaneously in both the Empire and the Federation—the two great powers of the Milky Way—every trending topic on the Star Network exploded. The network itself even crashed for nearly half an hour before being forcibly repaired and brought back online.

[I’m dumbfounded—did Leader Gu and the Third Prince coordinate this in advance?]

[They actually chose the same day to make their move and didn’t even leave us time to catch our breath [drops lightly to knees jpg]]

[Can someone please summarize this? My brain is really starting to short-circuit [blank stare jpg]]

[Same here… there’s way too much information, my brain CPU is about to burn out]

[Simple version: the Federation Elders and our First Prince were both working with people from the X-System. They created Alpha Syndrome, which has terrorized the whole galaxy for years, and now Leader Gu and the Third Prince’s side have taken them down together.

For the more detailed version, go check Marshal Feng and the Third Prince’s Starblog. You can also check Leader Gu’s side. They all put together the full timeline of what happened.]

[I went to look. I’m still in shock.]

[What shocked me most is that the Third Prince is actually An’zai…]

[A bunch of fucking beasts! I always thought Alpha was a natural disaster. Who would’ve thought it was man-made—and by Xia Yuanhan, whom I genuinely thought had a strong chance of becoming the next ruler? I & [System has automatically censored vulgar language]]

[Xia Yuanhan is worse than an animal. He turned his own father into a puppet and got him killed, poisoned his older brother until his life was hanging by a thread, and threw his younger brother into the toxic fog forest on Sin Star. Every single one of these things makes my scalp crawl. Is this even something a human being could do? [I am yelling so loud jpg]]

[So does Xia Yuanhan have a cure for Alpha or not? There’s no way he created a disaster this huge without a cure, right?]

[He actually doesn’t. According to what the Third Prince released, the X-System does have something, but it can’t really be called a cure. It’s a highly harmful method involving prohibited experimentation, and it’s also how the X-System planned to invade the Milky Way and control us…]

[The Third Prince said it’s an experiment that modifies humans into cyborgs. Our galaxy has always banned that kind of experimentation.]

[So after the X-System spread that Kailuo Stone stuff and made all of us sick with Alpha, they were then going to kindly ‘treat’ us by turning us all into cyborgs?]

[Turn us into cyborgs? After becoming cyborgs, would our consciousness even still belong to us? Wouldn’t we just end up like His Majesty—turned into puppet dolls by some weird chip?!]

[Holy shit, the more you think about it, the scarier it gets]

[To hell with Xia Yuanhan. When he said he was going to fund the development of Alpha medicine, I actually thought he seemed decent. Turns out it was all his own setup!]

[Using the lives of the whole galaxy as stepping stones—real classy. Compared to the X-System people, Xia Yuanhan and that bunch from the Federation Elders are even more disgusting and despicable. What they did was betrayal—betrayal of the citizens who trusted them. It’s honestly chilling.]

[And once again: thank god for An’zai—no, thank god for the Third Prince! If not for him, all of us would still be getting played around by the X-System!]

[The Third Prince really is both heartbreaking and worthy of admiration… It’s impossible to imagine what he must have felt like when his own brother threw him into the toxic fog forest. If he hadn’t awakened his powers in a moment of desperation, then just like the rumors said, he probably really would have… [teary-eyed jpg]]

[Small question: now that His Majesty is effectively gone, does that mean they’re going to start choosing a new ruler…?]

[Do they even need to choose? Of course it should be Prince Xia Lin! [casting my vote in advance jpg]]

[I’m honestly so confused now. So the X-System isn’t just a legend—it really exists? And they crossed the chaotic stone zone and are trying to swallow up our galaxy?]

[Oh my god, are we about to go to war…]

[Everyone calm down. There’s still the chaotic stone zone between the X-System and our galaxy. Even if they can cross it, there must be limits. They can’t send large numbers over in a short time.]

[Exactly. A full-scale war probably can’t break out anytime soon, but we definitely need to guard against whatever other dirty tricks they might have. A civilization that can use Kailuo Stone to create Alpha Syndrome—who knows what other underhanded methods they’ve got?]

[Even if they come, I’m not panicking! Leader Gu and the Third Prince are clearly on such good terms now. The strength of two nations joining forces is no joke!!!]

[Now that Xia Yuanhan and the Elders have been brought down, at least there won’t be any new Alpha patients, right? The special medicine the Third Prince’s side developed has already gone into production. I just hope everyone can get back to a normal life soon. We’ve all been so tired for so many years [crying hard jpg]]

The Star Network had completely exploded, but Lin An’an had no spare energy to pay attention to any of it for now.

After Xia Yuanhan was taken into the Empire’s highest-security detention chamber, he was placed under round-the-clock guard by multiple members of the First Legion, twenty-four hours a day without interruption.

Lin An’an did not rush to interrogate him personally. He had more important things to do first.

“Still no trace of the X-System people?” Lin An’an asked.

Feng Wu frowned. “No. Gu Yubai’s side hasn’t found anything either.”

Lin An’an looked puzzled. “That’s strange. Could it be they found out about our operation ahead of time and pulled out early?”

“Not very likely. If they really had known, they wouldn’t have failed to warn Xia Yuanhan and the others,” Feng Wu analyzed. “Even if they weren’t afraid of the constraints of their spiritual contract, they were still in a cooperative relationship with Xia Yuanhan and the Elders. A warning would only help them avoid risks. There’d be no downside for them.”

“That’s true.” Lin An’an lowered his eyes in thought. “Did Xia Yuanhan say anything?”

Feng Wu shook his head.

Lin An’an clicked his tongue. “Fine. If he won’t talk, then he won’t talk. Let him calm down a little first. When we question him, if he still refuses to confess, then we’ll use some more special methods.”

He let out a cold snort. “Special people need special methods. That’s what actually works. If he refuses to know what’s good for him, then he can’t blame us.”
