God-Tier Get Rich System – CH178

Trapped in His Own Web

Chapter 178: Trapped in His Own Web

“Congratulations, player, for being sent into a Forced Dungeon. Forced Dungeon, worth 1000 gold coins, cannot be refused. Mission: Escape from Holy Light Mountain. Time limit: 3 hours.

Success reward: 2 credits, 200 gold coins + 1000 gold coins.
Failure penalty: Death.”

Seeing the glowing message on his watch, Li Dian’s face turned livid. He cursed loudly: “Damn it!”

He had spent 2000 gold coins to buy two entry slots to the Holy Light Mountain Forced Dungeon, intending to throw Mu Lantu and Xu Huazhang in to die. But somehow, something went wrong, and he had ended up caught in his own trap.

The clear rate of a Forced Dungeon was only five percent. Even with confidence in his own strength, his heart was in chaos.

“Brother Dian, what’s going on? Why are we in the Forced Dungeon too?” Zhou Chunyu was shoved around, nearly tripping. Clutching Li Dian’s arm, she looked at the packed crowd in horror, her face drained of color. A Forced Dungeon—it had another name: the Death Dungeon!

“We’re finished, we’re finished…” Wu Qiushuang’s face was pale as a sheet, screaming hysterically. “Brother Dian—it must be Mu Lantu’s doing! I told you he’s bad luck!”

“Forced Dungeon… heh, we’re doomed… doomed…” Qian Weiyun tore at his hair in a frenzy, completely out of ideas.

A native, annoyed that Sun Jinglei was walking too slowly, kicked him aside.

Sun Jinglei swallowed his anger and made way. “Brother Dian, think of something! The mountain’s so tall, there are too many people, and only three hours—it’s too tight!”

Wu Qiushuang sobbed. “Brother Dian, I counted my items—none of them work here! What do we do now?”

Li Dian realized he’d been outplayed, most likely by Mu Lantu or Xu Huazhang. Since entering Infinite University, he had always gotten his way with brute force and ruthlessness. Today was his first crushing failure—it felt like a slap across his face.

But what he couldn’t figure out was: how did Mu Lantu and Xu Huazhang know it was him who threw them into a Forced Dungeon? Could there be a traitor by his side?

His sharp gaze swept over his underlings’ faces.

Zhao Qingfeng, silent until now, finally said, “It must be because we were in a party. That’s why we were dragged into the dungeon together.”

Li Dian’s eyes turned cold. Zhao Qingfeng was probably right—he was always smart, a sort of strategist for him. But saying this now made Li Dian’s impression of him drop to the bottom. Could Zhao Qingfeng be the traitor? Yet, Li Dian had never treated him badly—he had even let Zhao Qingfeng enjoy his women before.

“Qingfeng, are you blaming me for using the Party Card?”

Qian Weiyun shouted angrily, “Zhao Qingfeng! Where’s your conscience? How many benefits have we gotten by being in a party with the boss? How dare you blame him!”

“Boss, I didn’t mean that at all!” Zhao Qingfeng quickly explained. “The priority is to escape Holy Light Mountain. Otherwise…”

“Brother Dian, do something! I don’t want to die!” Wu Qiushuang’s makeup was ruined by tears. Forced Dungeons couldn’t be escaped even with a leave pass—if they failed, death was the only outcome.

She wasn’t ready to die yet!

“Shut up, damn it!” Li Dian, in no mood to comfort women, shoved her aside.

Wu Qiushuang screamed as she fell onto the steps.

The crowd behind ignored her, continuing forward, countless feet trampling over her.

“Ahhh—help! Brother Dian—”

Her screams pierced the soul.

Li Dian froze, then snapped out of it. He hadn’t meant for Wu Qiushuang to die!

“Don’t just stand there! Pull her up!” he roared.

But the natives were too crazed, single-mindedly climbing higher, their bodies unnaturally heavy. Li Dian and the others tried to push them aside but it was useless. In the end, they could only grab Wu Qiushuang’s legs and drag her desperately outward.

At first she had the strength to cry for help, but her voice grew weaker, blood pouring out, trickling down the steps…

Finally, they pulled her free—only to see she was already dead, eyes wide open, pupils lifeless.

“Ah—” Zhou Chunyu screamed, collapsing onto Qian Weiyun in terror. “Brother Qian…”

Qian Weiyun shoved her off when no one was looking, pretending he’d been pushed by the crowd.

Zhou Chunyu clung to Li Dian next, her face as pale as snow as she stared at Wu Qiushuang’s corpse. “Brother Dian, think of something!”

The five of them were forced to keep moving with the crowd. Wu Qiushuang’s body was left behind, trampled over and over, the stench of blood thickening in the air.

“Shut up!” Li Dian calmed himself. “It’s too hard to go back down now. We’ll follow the crowd to the summit, then figure something out!”

Qian Weiyun and Sun Jinglei perked up a little. Right or wrong, at least they had direction.

Zhao Qingfeng’s gaze lingered on the natives.

Li Dian noticed and brightened. “Qingfeng, what are you thinking? Did you find a way?”

Zhao Qingfeng hesitated.

Li Dian frowned, then softened his voice. “Speak freely. We’re brothers—what can’t be said?”

Zhao stammered, “Boss, I was thinking about Xu Huazhang’s last lecture. He said… you can clear dungeons by raising natives’ favorability. Maybe we should ask these people if there’s a shortcut down?”

The idea of relying on Xu Huazhang’s words after being tricked by him made Li Dian feel sick, like swallowing a fly.

For a moment, he wondered if Zhao Qingfeng had said that just to spite him. But no—at a life-and-death moment, Zhao Qingfeng wouldn’t sow discord. That would benefit no one.

“Chunyu, you go ask,” Li Dian ordered.

“Brother Dian, I’m just a vase—I can’t!” Zhou Chunyu shook her head frantically. She was terrified—she’d seen what happened earlier. Any player who wanted to go down had been killed by the natives. If she accidentally offended them, she’d die too.

Li Dian softened his tone, coaxing her. “You’re pretty. They won’t hurt you. Be good, okay?”

His voice was gentle like a lover’s, but his eyes were cold. Zhou Chunyu’s eyes welled up, but she didn’t dare disobey. In desperation, she went up to a hideous middle-aged man and clung to him.

Her little scheme was simple: ugly men rarely got women’s attention in real life—they’d be easier to sway.

She pinched herself hard, tears streaming down her cheeks like a weeping flower. “Big brother, I’m here to bathe in the Holy Light too, but my husband just called—my baby’s in the hospital! Please, tell me, how can I get down the mountain quickly? My child needs me… my poor child…”

The man softened, eyes full of pity.

Zhou Chunyu rejoiced—until he said, “Don’t worry! Once we reach the summit and bathe in the Holy Light, your child will be fine! I know a shortcut up the mountain. Do you want to come with me?”

At first she was disappointed, then thoughtful. Going down was impossible—but if she could take a shortcut up, reach the summit sooner, maybe she could find staff and escape.

“Are you telling the truth?”

“Of course!” The man frowned at her doubt, raising his fist fervently. “As a fellow believer in the Holy Light, I have no reason to lie. If you don’t want to come, fine—don’t waste my time!”

Zhou Chunyu dared not hesitate. She nodded hard. “No, no, I’ll come! Thank you, big brother!”

By now, she had drifted far from Li Dian and the others. The man had never slowed his pace while talking, while Li Dian’s group still dawdled, hoping to find a way down. The gap widened quickly.

She glanced back, pretending to be swept away by the crowd, waved anxiously at Li Dian, said something, and was pulled forward again.

Li Dian didn’t catch a word. Fixing on her receding figure, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

“Brother Dian, what did Chunyu say?” Qian Weiyun squinted, his nearsighted eyes useless.

Everyone knew nearsighted people usually had bad hearing too.

“Nothing. Keep moving!” Li Dian said coldly.

He shoved two natives aside and shouted forward, “Out of the way! I must climb to the summit, bathe in the Holy Light! Don’t block me! Climb to the summit, bathe in the Holy Light!”

Zhao Qingfeng, Qian Weiyun, and Sun Jinglei were confused, but the surrounding natives echoed his chant:

“Climb to the summit, bathe in the Holy Light! Climb to the summit, bathe in the Holy Light!”

The crowd grew more frenzied, speeding up the climb.

It had to be admitted: Li Dian wasn’t just a brute—he knew how to lead.

The natives’ zeal gave him a breakthrough. With the crowd speeding up, reaching the summit would take less time. Maybe their escape lay at the top!

But he forgot one thing: as the pace quickened, the weaker ones began collapsing first. More people fell, bodies piling on the steps, blocking the path.

The vicious cycle slowed them down again.

Time slipped away. The three-hour countdown ticked mercilessly.

The summit was so close—yet impossibly far.

Li Dian stared in horror at the watch showing only half an hour left. He completely lost control, howling to the sky:

“No! I refuse! I, Li Dian, refuse!”
