God-Tier Get Rich System – CH164

Planning to Set Up a Stall

Chapter 164: Planning to Set Up a Stall

“Boom—”

The ground beneath Mu Lantu’s feet shook violently, his mind buzzing blank. When he regained awareness, he and Xu Huazhang were back at the spawn point—the mall. Terrified cries and chaotic footsteps surged around them like crashing waves, his heart pounding like a drum.

People panicked, rushing toward elevators and escalators. From the children’s play area nearby came the crisp, cheerful singing of a child’s voice, looping again and again:

“The death knell has already rung,

Ding ding dang dang, ding ding dang dang,

The reaper unilaterally declares a game of hide-and-seek with you,

Follow the rainbow shimmer,

And parallel lines will lead you to safety…”

“Run! Fear City has an outbreak of a highly contagious disease! In two hours, the government will fire missiles and raze the city to the ground!”

Zhao Yuanzhou found Fang Menglei. Without words, the two bent low and squeezed into the crowd. Zhao Yuanzhou shielded Fang as they rushed toward the staff elevator.

Zhang Junyang looked around—no sign of Zhao Yuanzhou. Without hesitation, he bolted. With his revival chances running low, he couldn’t afford delay!

The other players each had their own calculations, scattering in all directions to seek a way out.

Mu Lantu, avoiding the press of people, hid behind the wall near the playground. For the first time, he carefully listened to the lyrics, his sharp, steady eyes locked onto the opposite wall.

The floor was so noisy he had to listen twice before catching the full song.

Above the wall hung a bunny-head clock. The hands pointed to 10:38. They’d entered the dungeon at 10:34. If memory served, the blackout would happen at 11:18—exactly a 44-minute interval.

If players failed to uncover the train’s secret within that window, once the power cut and the singing stopped, all their efforts in that round would be wasted.

So “the death knell has already rung” meant this.

The colorful kiddie train had already been emptied of its little passengers. Parents had taken their children away, leaving the train to trundle along slowly, driverless.

Along the bottom of its exterior, a row of tiny bulbs twinkled in red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple—seven colors exactly!

“Follow the seven-colored glow? So the parallel line means the track,” Xu Huazhang said, walking over. “Baby, our earlier deduction was only half right. The dungeon does point us toward escaping Fear City by train—but not a real one. This one.”

This was true “darkness under the lamp.” Who would think the exit was right under their noses?

Before the explosion in the previous loop, Mu Lantu and Xu Huazhang had already agreed on their post-revival tasks.

“Did you find it?” Mu Lantu asked.

“G414,” Xu Huazhang replied. “It’s a train from Fear City to Sorrow City. But I couldn’t find the departure time.”

As soon as he revived, he had grabbed a native’s phone and searched. Whatever Sorrow City was, boarding G414 would definitely mean leaving Fear City.

Luckily, the train station wasn’t far from the mall. If players lacked confidence in their own deductions, they might really run to the station. Whether the actual train there could carry them away remained unknown.

“Then this should be it. We just need to take this kiddie train. Should we tell the others?” Mu Lantu looked around, but there wasn’t a single player in sight.

“They all ran off the moment they revived,” Xu Huazhang said flatly.

Mu Lantu shrugged. Nothing they could do. He and Huazhang weren’t about to get blown up again just to save those people.

“Go?”

“Go.”

The two vaulted over the plastic fence of the play area and climbed aboard the train.

Passersby slowed in shock, staring at them like lunatics before shaking their heads and running on.

Mu Lantu sat stiffly on the tiny seat. The tunnel ahead loomed closer. He ducked his head early, squinting at the sudden flare of lights—and when brightness returned, he was sitting inside a real train.

Outside, scenery blurred past. Xu Huazhang sat beside him.

On the wall above the window was a sign: Fear City – Sorrow City.

The other passengers, all fleeing Fear City, spoke anxiously about the government’s incoming missiles, fear and panic still etched on their faces. The sobbing of adults mixed with the wails of children, making the carriage unbearably noisy.

[Congratulations, player, on completing the mission. Reward: 4 credits, 2400 gold. You may remain in this world for 30 minutes. Exit now? [Yes] [No]]

Yes.

“Ding ling ling—”

Mu Lantu swept the classroom with his gaze. A few fewer people.

When players completed a mission—whether they exited early or were forcibly pulled out at the last second—they always reappeared in class the moment the bell rang.

Students missing at the bell were proof they’d died in the dungeon. They would never return.

Truth be told, the Fear City dungeon wasn’t difficult. The challenge lay in thinking of “darkness under the lamp.” Miss that, and you were simply walking too far.

The next class was in the integrated teaching building—they had to change rooms.

Students began filing out.

Mu Lantu and Xu Huazhang walked side by side. First order of business: the gold reward.

Xu Huazhang wrote a number on his palm: 2400.

“Nice! Same as me.” Mu Lantu gave him a thumbs-up.

“So, baby, you’re treating tonight?” Xu Huazhang teased.

“You’re treating,” Mu Lantu hooked his arm around his waist, “but I’ll cover the ride.”

Xu Huazhang’s eyes glimmered with curiosity. “What ride? A windmill?”

Mu Lantu pinched his waist. “You’ll see.”

Outside, he pulled out two hoverboards.

“Nice wheels,” Xu Huazhang praised.

“Of course.” Mu Lantu stepped on and offered his hand. “Let’s go.”

He had cars too, but pulling out a full-sized vehicle from his game backpack would raise suspicions. A hoverboard was more than enough for campus.

“Let’s go,” Xu Huazhang echoed with a smile.

The two glided off, coolly leaving under envious stares.

“Was that from a dungeon? Why didn’t I think of that? I’m getting one too next chance I get!”

“Maybe they just bought it from the supermarket.”

“Don’t joke. In the watch’s supermarket, hoverboards cost at least 500 gold—that’s enough for an item!”

“They’re rich. Why not?”

In just five or six minutes, they reached the integrated teaching building.

College English, 16:20–17:05, Room 304.

Classes here usually mixed multiple groups, and 304 was a large lecture hall. They were the first to arrive, naturally choosing seats at the back.

With time to spare, Mu Lantu laid out sunflower seeds and fruit, shoving a lollipop into Xu Huazhang’s hand.

Xu Huazhang slipped it into his pocket.

Mu Lantu noticed—without him around, Xu Huazhang rarely ate lollipops in public. Embarrassed, maybe?

“Baby,” Xu Huazhang said, “those cultural shirts and books we brought out from the dungeon—I want to set up a little stall on campus.”

Mu Lantu burst out laughing. Xu Huazhang and a street stall—such a dimensional clash.

“Sure. Need help?”

“Yes. A very important job.” Xu Huazhang was serious. “You’ll handle the cash.”

“Such a heavy responsibility, only I can shoulder it!” Mu Lantu looped his arms around his neck, planting a loud kiss on his lips. “Confident, aren’t you?”

Xu Huazhang spoke calmly. “The dungeon items have no real cost. Even selling one for just a single gold coin makes profit.”

Mu Lantu leaned in, whispering by his ear, “I’ll sponsor you with food and bottled water.”

Some cautious students might only dare to do one dungeon a day. Success meant just 100 gold. With supermarket prices high, that barely covered daily expenses.

For instance, a 500ml bottle of water cost 5 gold in the supermarket. At Xu Huazhang’s stall, he could sell the same for 1 or 2 gold. Where would students buy?

Of course, from Xu Huazhang.

The only problem—

“Will the school allow us to set up a stall?”

“We’ll find out by trying,” Xu Huazhang replied. If not, they’d just think of another way to earn gold.

Students trickled into the classroom, some looking vibrant and sharp. Those had cleared at least three dungeons, growing stronger and more adaptable under pressure. Others still wore hollow looks, trapped in lingering fear from their last experience.

Overall, the afternoon crowd’s mental state looked far better than the morning’s.

With more people, the room buzzed with chatter.

“This class is College English. Think the dungeon will be set abroad?”

“Hah. Aside from morning exercises, has any class so far actually matched the course title?”

“True. We’ve had zero clues. No way to even prep.”

“What’s there to prep? Just adapt on the fly.”

“Hey, did you hear? Someone’s buying dungeon write-ups. Minimum 800 words. Fifteen gold per write-up.”

“800 words? Feels like the college entrance exam again. If I’d known, I’d have skipped Infinite University!”

“Hah, hindsight’s worth its weight in gold.”

“Seriously though, fifteen gold? I could try that.”

“It’s true. I saw the notice posted at the cafeteria entrance. Even duplicate dungeons are fine, as long as your strategy differs.”

“Strange. Who’s collecting these? And why?”

Mu Lantu, overhearing, whispered happily to Xu Huazhang, “Song Bochao’s fast.”

Seeing him happy made Xu Huazhang happy. “If he does well, we can gift him an item or two to keep him alive. Or, once we earn enough gold, we’ll hire him properly, pay him a daily wage. That way, he won’t have to enter dungeons anymore.”
