Extra: Shen Ning × Lu Fengge

Chapter 80 – Extra: Shen Ning × Lu Fengge

Lu Fengge was in a hurry.

That was what Shen Ning thought.

A truly arrogant, self-important businessman—just because Shen Ning had scolded him to his face, he already wanted to make him pay a price.

If it was really just because of being called a “bastard” that he was immediately asked to repay a favor, Shen Ning inexplicably felt a little wronged. Besides that one insult, he had even spoken well of Lu Fengge.

Repay a favor? Fine then.

Shen Ning wiped his mouth and said stubbornly, “Sure.”

The sharp, pitch-black eyes of Lu Fengge calmed a little, the agitation easing.
“You won’t regret it?”

Shen Ning lowered his eyelashes and didn’t answer right away, quietly weaving together some lethal lines in his head.

Back when Lu Fengge was in Hong Kong, Shen Ning’s father was always urging Shen Ning to go there and build a career together with him. Shen Ning refused verbally, but he had thought to himself that if Lu Fengge didn’t come home for over a year, he would reluctantly go over—so that some shameless mistresses wouldn’t get too bold. After all, he took the arranged marriage seriously; he just wanted to play around for one more year. That didn’t mean he would leave the marriage empty forever.

Unlike learning Mandarin, Cantonese didn’t require studying written texts. When bored, Shen Ning had watched some Hong Kong dramas to practice speaking.

The protagonists in those dramas often spoke with pearls of wisdom, especially in historical shows—one speech could quote all kinds of idioms and sayings. During arguments, they were especially lethal.

He wanted to come up with a beautifully worded argument of his own.

Seeing his silence, Lu Fengge softened for a moment and was about to speak—when Shen Ning suddenly said—

“Regret what? Your Lu family is dwindling in numbers because of us Shen people. I’ll hurry up and give you an heir to complete the task. Once that’s done, we’ll wipe the slate clean, go our separate ways to marry others, and I’ll find a promising young literary PhD to spend the rest of my life with.”

He rattled it off like reciting a textbook—fast and sharp. Counting them, he’d used four idioms in total, eloquent and cutting.

Lu Fengge’s brows and eyes seemed to frost over as he tightened his grip on the steering wheel.
“Is that what you really think?”

Shen Ning tapped the tabletop with his long fingers.
“Mm.”

His beautiful eyes curved as he looked at Lu Fengge with a provocative tilt at the corners.
“Is one enough? I’ll give you three—prosperous descendants.”

“Fine.” Lu Fengge hadn’t expected that the day Shen Ning would say he wanted to have children for him would come amid such blazing anger.

He had only just shaken off his lingering fear, the cold sweat on his back not yet dry, and now anger steamed up another layer of sweat. He didn’t know why, but whenever Shen Ning mentioned some “literary PhD,” he found it impossible to stay calm. What was so great about that “man of letters” who had fled in disgrace?

Lu Fengge spoke impulsively, with the recklessness of youth:
“Fine, fine. Have three, and I’ll let you go.”

Shen Ning crossed his arms, furious beyond compare. Sure enough, no matter how perfectly one argued, it still couldn’t vent the anger. He said coldly, “Lu Fengge, you’re just living off your ancestors’ blessings!”

Stinking businessman. Big bastard.

Shen Ning knew exactly how to infuriate people. By bringing up his ancestry, he completely denied Lu Fengge’s personal merit.

So enraged that he shoved the car door open, Lu Fengge stood outside, took two deep breaths, then made a call for the driver to come.

Lu Fengge had never been this angry in his life.

One sitting, one standing—each angry in their own way.

Anyone looking at them would never guess these two were heading home to have sex.

The longest conversation they’d had was an argument, and they even had to call a driver halfway through. Absolutely absurd.

Ten minutes later, the driver-cum-bodyguard arrived, unable to understand how, moments ago, everything had been fine—Shen Ning had been in danger, President Lu had rushed in without hesitation—and now the two of them were furious like this.

He took the driver’s seat and quietly drove. As the saying goes, when a couple argues, even dogs keep their distance.

In the back seat, Lu Fengge looked at Shen Ning’s noble, aloof profile in the front passenger seat. He’d prepared milk and two slices of bread with a fried egg in between.

Shen Ning didn’t like eating like this. He preferred small buns made from scratch—mincing meat, kneading dough. Today the auntie wasn’t around; after all, she couldn’t have predicted that the young couple would say they were heading out to work and then both return home an hour later. Lu Fengge could only throw together a simple breakfast himself.

Thinking Shen Ning was sulking, Lu Fengge held the milk cup up to his lips.
“Have a sip? Or do you want something else to drink?”

Not used to being waited on by Lu Fengge, Shen Ning lowered his head and took a sip.

Lu Fengge offered the bread next. Shen Ning bit off half a slice and slowly chewed it in his mouth.

Lu Fengge: “Another bite.”

Shen Ning muttered, “There’s still some in my mouth.”

Watching him chew that mouthful of bread for a full ten minutes, Lu Fengge’s patience ran out. He leaned down.
“Really? Let me see.”

“Mm.”

Lu Fengge swept around inside his mouth and didn’t find any bread. With one hand he set the porcelain plate on the bedside table; with the other he held Shen Ning’s shoulder and slowly pressed him down.

Shen Ning was thrown off by Lu Fengge’s tender, affectionate manner. He wasn’t very used to it, so he said, “I take it back. I’ll only give you one chance. If I don’t get pregnant, then that’s it.”

Lu Fengge’s gaze darkened—he was so angry there was almost nothing he could do.

“Talk less.” Was he determined to provoke him today?

What Shen Ning hated most was Lu Fengge looking down on his Chinese. If it wasn’t good, he should practice more—did he even have the chance to practice?

Shen Ning: “That’s your problem.”

Lu Fengge: “……”

……

Afterward, Shen Ning summed up the whole affair: it had all started from the word “bastard.”

And he hadn’t insulted him wrongly. Not only that—he’d called him that many more times.

But every time he called Lu Fengge a bastard, it ended badly. Clearly, Lu Fengge was really petty.

Shen Ning felt like a peony that had just been through a torrential downpour—its petals all drooping, sticky and limp.

Vine plants clearly had no understanding of how much large flowers feared storms—too damn crude.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw his white phone on the bedside table. Shen Ning struggled over, reached out to grab it, and saw two missed calls and two text messages.

They were from his father. Lu Fengge had brought his phone over so he could return the call as soon as he woke up.

Shen Ning called back. As soon as he spoke, his voice was hoarse to an excessive degree, so he could only lower it.
“Dad.”

His father talked about some business matters first, then slowly got to the point:
“Lu Fengge has gone home. Are you used to living there? Dad also has a place in Nan Cheng—the keys will be delivered later.”

“It’s fine. Thank you, Dad.”

No one had ever told Shen Ning how he was supposed to “repay a favor.” He’d figured it out himself. Compared to repaying a favor, he’d really just wanted to anger Lu Fengge.

Whenever he mentioned repaying a favor, Lu Fengge got angry.

Whenever Lu Fengge hurt him too much, he’d bring it up—and Lu Fengge’s expression would immediately become very interesting.

After returning the two calls, Shen Ning opened the text messages. The first was some membership renewal notice—he couldn’t be bothered to read it and closed it immediately.

The second… Shen Ning frowned. Why had Lu Fengge texted him telling him not to make a sound?

Checking the time—it was from when they’d been in the demolition alley…

He wasn’t capable of skimming at lightning speed and catching key points at a glance. Reading line by line until he reached “there’s a murderer hiding nearby,” his eyes widened as he finally understood the full meaning of Lu Fengge’s message.

So back then, Lu Fengge had gone looking for him, and because Shen Ning was hiding and not making a sound, he’d used provocation to force him out? And it was also out of worry that he’d told him to go out with bodyguards?

“……”

They’d argued for nothing.

More than that—he’d been fucked for nothing.

Why hadn’t Lu Fengge explained after getting into the car? Was it just to have an excuse to force a kiss on him?
