Chapter 101 – Extra: Shancha Bro and the Coworker
The next day at work, Meng Shancha discovered that a “possessive” blind-date suitor had sent flowers to his coworker. He suggested escorting his coworker home after work—and was refused.
Shangguan Ning even said he had a boyfriend.
Meng Shancha was dumbfounded. Shangguan Ning wasn’t the first colleague to find a partner after returning home. In his South American technical team, two buddies had gone on nine blind dates within three days of returning to the country—one of them had even already found a match.
Fast progress was normal. But it couldn’t be his coworker.
That person had to be properly vetted. If he couldn’t even compare to himself, on what grounds did he deserve Shangguan Ning’s affection? Even first-come, first-served didn’t make sense!
Meng Shancha was certain the guy couldn’t compare to him—because even he knew to walk Shangguan Ning home, yet this so-called boyfriend showed no sign of it.
No matter how you looked at it, he and his coworker looked more like a couple!
Shangguan Ning said lightly, “You don’t walk a girlfriend to and from work either. Why should my boyfriend walk me?”
Meng Shancha: “I don’t have a girlfriend.”
Shangguan Ning: “You’re so straight—you definitely do.”
All at once, Meng Shancha seemed to find the reason his coworker didn’t like him and went off to like someone else. He blurted out, “I’m not straight!”
Shangguan Ning curled his lips. “Oh? Then why are you so worked up?”
Meng Shancha spun in circles like a bee. “I’m not worked up.”
“Yes—I’m not straight. I like you.” Meng Shancha stated firmly.
He had never been able to pin down what exactly caused his possessiveness toward Shangguan Ning. Only after controlling all variables did he dare admit it—his feelings for his coworker had changed.
He was afraid that rashly confessing would be a disrespect to his coworker.
He was afraid that not being bent enough would be irresponsible to his coworker.
The only thing he wasn’t good at examining was his own heart.
“Shangguan!” A colleague who had walked Shangguan Ning home before called out, bringing over a pale cherry-blossom-colored gift box. “Here.”
Shangguan Ning took it, his eyes curving. “How much?”
The colleague waved it off. “My sister gave it to me—no charge. I’m giving it to you.”
Meng Shancha went on alert. They’d only walked home once—how had it already progressed to gift-giving between relatives?
“What is that?” Meng Shancha’s eyes reddened with jealousy. Shangguan Ning looked like he really liked it.
It was a camellia men’s fragrance Shangguan Ning had specifically asked the colleague to help him find. The colleague’s sister was a very skilled perfumer.
He opened it and took a sniff—camellia, wonderfully fragrant, like the scent carried by a bee fluttering its wings among camellia blossoms. Light, faint, the smell of clear, sunny weather.
Meng Shancha had said before that he took this name because he liked camellias.
Shangguan Ning practically wanted to chew on camellia petals every day—unfortunately, the other party claimed to be straight.
How could someone hug him stiffly every day, drag him down with them, and still call himself straight?
Shangguan Ning got so angry he went on blind dates—only to find that he really couldn’t do without this straight guy.
Shangguan Ning answered Meng Shancha’s question: “Perfume.”
Perfume! Perfume was a very intimate item!
Meng Shancha: “Give it back to him. I’ll buy you a bottle.”
No, no—that colleague wasn’t the main issue. The important thing was the boyfriend who’d popped up out of nowhere.
“Can you switch your boyfriend to me?”
Shangguan Ning: “Switch? You’re half bent, half straight—why would I switch to something that risky?”
Meng Shancha felt a little guilty. “Zero risk.”
He felt like he liked his coworker to death—but he really was different from Bai He and Xilan, different from those not-straight little bees.
Seeing him still feel guilty at this point, Shangguan Ning sneered. “What are you feeling guilty about?”
Meng Shancha: “I feel guilty because I…”
“I…” He trailed off.
Shangguan Ning: “Because what?”
Meng Shancha: “I might be a bit sexually frigid.”
???
A whole row of black question marks popped up over Shangguan Ning’s head.
Then what had been poking him before?
Meng Shancha felt that if you were going to pursue someone, you had to be as honest as possible. He scratched his head. “Back when we were in South America, I was sick and couldn’t control myself. I wasn’t deliberately being a pervert.”
“After coming back, I got better… That illness only happens because I like you.”
Shangguan Ning frowned. “So what illness is it? Does it affect your health?”
Meng Shancha: “No. Wait for me—it’s a rare illness. I’ll tell you the day after tomorrow.”
Shangguan Ning tried to summarize with normal logic: “So what you’re saying is, you got this rare illness, so you’re impotent? And back in South America it was because you liked me, took medicine, had a temporary rebound, the drug effect was too strong so you couldn’t control it?”
After hearing Shangguan Ning’s reverse conclusion, Meng Shancha nearly blacked out. No—how had the strongest worker bee gotten dragged into impotence?!
He was not impotent!
Shangguan Ning: “You don’t have to wait until the day after tomorrow. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. You don’t need to hide behind ‘sexual frigidity’—just say it.”
No sex life… then no sex life.
Meng Shancha was about to explode on the spot. He couldn’t wait until the day after tomorrow—he had to clarify immediately that he wasn’t impotent.
He grabbed Shangguan Ning by the wrist, pulled him into the restroom, and closed the stall door.
“Just touch it and you’ll know I’m not like that,” the big dog said aggrievedly.
Shangguan Ning crossed his arms arrogantly and observed. “What kind of hooligan act is this?”
“I’m not being a hooligan! Just touch it!”
Half an hour later, Shangguan Ning bent over to put his hands under the automatic faucet.
Meng Shancha stood behind him. When Shangguan Ning bent down, their size difference was stark in the mirror—the suited brute behind completely enveloped Shangguan Ning’s frame.
Shangguan Ning lifted his eyes to look at Meng Shancha in the mirror. “Did you see a quack doctor?”
Meng Shancha stepped forward, pressing against Shangguan Ning’s lower back. “Can you break up with your boyfriend? Our village chief won’t let me be a homewrecker.”
If the strongest worker bee became a third party out there, the entire Baihua Village would be shamed.
Shangguan Ning: “…There is no such person.”
He turned to face Meng Shancha. “It’s you. It’s always been you.”
Meng Shancha took a moment to process. “You’re saying that just to make me mad?”
Shangguan Ning: “What? Not allowed?”
He hadn’t planned to use such extreme measures. Deep down, he couldn’t bear to stimulate Meng Shancha too harshly; he’d hoped Meng Shancha would figure it out slowly during their period of distance. But Meng Shancha’s reaction upon seeing that bouquet of roses made Shangguan Ning realize that keeping a straight engineer hanging was far too big a project.
Better to be decisive—succeed or die trying.
Meng Shancha: “Fine. I’m okay even if you lock me in a dark room.”
Shangguan Ning: “……”
At the next festival, the bee clan gathered and voted to accept Meng Shancha’s partner.
Meng Shancha went to find Meng Xueyuan. “I want to buy a car. More expensive than a BMW.”
Shangguan Ning lived relatively far away. If he wanted to drive his wife to and from work, he couldn’t be without a car.
More expensive than the BMW that had driven past him—carrying his wife.
Meng Xueyuan: “No problem. Let’s get you a Hummer.”
When Meng Shancha returned from Baihua Village to the city, he also brought back a bottle of royal jelly.
He secretly drank it behind his wife’s back, afraid it would be mistaken for an aphrodisiac.
But his little actions didn’t escape Shangguan Ning’s notice. Out of consideration for his self-esteem, Shangguan Ning pretended not to see it—yet his body tensed up.
Meng Shancha was already big. Would drinking this make him even bigger?
Meng Shancha took a sip of royal jelly and, turning his head, saw his wife avoiding his gaze.
???????
A night passed.
Shangguan Ning was tossed and turned relentlessly, all while having to be considerate of a certain worker bee.
“Wife, I’m already sexually frigid—just let me off a bit.”
“I’m only this enduring because I drank royal jelly. Next time I won’t be—just hang in there a little longer.”
“Wife, you smell so good.”
Meng Shancha’s heart finally settled back into place. He worked with peace of mind. So it wasn’t that he wasn’t bent enough—he’d found the reason he was different from Xilan and Bai He!
Shangguan Ning believed his nonsense. The next day, rubbing his waist, he threw all the royal jelly in the fridge away.
But…
What he’d provoked was the strongest worker bee—one who could easily break through the bloodline seal of sexual frigidity. Even without royal jelly as support, he was terrifyingly strong.
Shangguan Ning: “……”
Meng Shancha: Told you—never an easy one.
