Doomsday Grocery Store – CH339

Chapter 339: Extra (1)

Watching the little glowing figure vanish just like that, Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi looked at each other in stunned silence.

“You became a god?” Zhou Qi asked.

“I think so…”

Tang Yu’an closed his eyes. That golden, radiant godcore still floated in his sea of consciousness, drawing in endless streams of faith and converting them into usable divine power.

Ever since he saved Shangshen Home Base, the golden threads connecting him to each of his believers had clearly grown thicker and stronger.

Still, his understanding of this power remained very shallow.

Zhou Qi reached out and gently tousled his hair. “Take your time. You’ve already done an incredible job.”

“Mm!”

Tang Yu’an looked up at Zhou Qi and suddenly said, “Brother Qi, you have believers too.”

He could see several golden threads stretching from the direction of the home base and connecting to Zhou Qi.

However, perhaps because Zhou Qi didn’t have a godcore, the faith coming through those threads quickly dissipated.

Zhou Qi was a little surprised and thought for a moment. “Maybe it’s people I’ve saved before.”

After all, as the Divine Envoy of Dark Moon, he had saved many. It wasn’t too surprising that a few would offer him their faith.

It could also be the people who had been rescued from the backlash of the spirit bugs—those he had forcibly extracted the parasites from.

As his understanding and mastery of natural law deepened, those people no longer feared him.

Of course, that was just surface-level. As long as Zhou Qi willed it, he still held power over their lives and deaths—his Dark Moon disguise still intact.

Tang Yu’an’s “believers” probably referred to those people. Even if they were coerced into it.

“If I got you another godcore one day, could you become a god too?” Tang Yu’an asked hopefully.

Zhou Qi paused and gave a wry smile. “It’s not that easy,” he said, ruffling Tang Yu’an’s hair again. “Besides, wasn’t yours a unique hidden item?”

If it’s “unique,” that means there’s only one. There shouldn’t be another.

“But there could be other ways to get one!” Tang Yu’an muttered. “Right, system?”

[……]
[Host, you have 99+ unread messages. Would you like to read them?]

Tang Yu’an froze—then quickly opened the message board.

While he’d been channeling divine power to protect the home base, almost every employee had been trying to reach him. Some tagged SilverLight or Twilight, while others—closer friends—looked for “Eastern Sweet Tang.”

But most of all… were messages from his mom and dad.

Just like the system had warned before: when the dimensional upheaval happened, the teleportation arrays had soon shut down. Neither intra-world nor inter-world teleportation worked anymore.

Tang Yu’an hadn’t told his parents immediately when things started going wrong.

By the time Tang Sheng and Tang Xueyun realized something was off and tried to teleport over, the arrays were already jammed—and soon after, they were completely disabled.

One could imagine how worried they were.

Tang Yu’an hurriedly messaged them to say he was safe, then asked the system, “Can the teleportation arrays be reactivated?”

[Detected: local plane MP176349 has been destroyed. All teleportation arrays are invalid. Arrays can be re-established, but require a deduction of points.]

Tang Yu’an checked his points balance.

He’d originally had over 900 million—now he only had about 60 million left.

He clutched his chest. Back to square one…! Still, 60 million was nothing to scoff at.

Something occurred to him. “Can the cross-plane arrays be re-established too?”

[Plane MR168845 has not been destroyed. Its teleportation arrays are intact. Use a plane locator stone to reconnect.]
[The locator stone for MP176349 has been cleared and returned to your personal inventory.]

Tang Yu’an opened his inventory and, sure enough, saw two locator stones.

Phew—they could be reused!

“Do I need to go store by store to reactivate the arrays? Or can I open the ones that were already set up?”

Previously, he or an employee had to be physically present to unlock the teleportation array at each branch store.

[Host may now directly activate arrays via the map interface.]

Tang Yu’an opened the map and saw he could one-click select all stores or choose individually.

“When did this feature unlock?”

[This is a reward feature for Merchant Level Lv49. Since the Doomsday General Store System is now entirely yours, all system functions are now accessible to you.]

Tang Yu’an: !!!

So when the little glowing guy said the system was mine, this is what he meant?

“What other functions do you have that I don’t know about?” he asked.

[Would you like a full list, host?]

Tang Yu’an thought for a moment and shook his head. “Forget it. I’ll explore later.”

First things first—he had to reopen the teleportation network!

Now that the Giant Plane had merged with theirs, the world-ending disaster had passed, but the new super-sized environment still held many unknown dangers.

Luckily, the protective barrier ensured short-term safety.

Soon, teleportation arrays across all 30 to 40 branch stores were back online. Tang Yu’an even connected the shop he’d opened in the Giant World into the massive new transport network.

Naturally, he only gave Grandpa Li full access to all teleportation routes.

At this point, Tang Yu’an figured there was no point in hiding anymore.

In short—he was done pretending. He laid his cards on the table.

Next came the interdimensional teleportation array. Now that there were only two planes left, setting it up was much simpler than before.

Tang Yu’an reconnected the teleportation array between Desolate City Home and China.

Then, he relocated the teleportation array to the plaza—no more climbing nine flights of stairs. Maybe later he’d build a pavilion around it.

He also gained permission to open multiple teleportation arrays in each branch store.

With this, interdimensional and intraplanar teleportation could be separated, improving efficiency and avoiding traffic jams during peak hours.

The second interdimensional array was set at the main store, as Tang Yu’an’s personal portal—only accessible by his family.

While Tang Yu’an was busy, Zhou Qi wasn’t idle either. He issued announcements to all staff:

[Message Board – Public Channel]
[Mysterious Merchant – Dark Moon]: The Wasteland Plane MR176349 has fully merged with the Giant Plane. Under the protection of the God of Commerce, the home base has safely transitioned to the new world despite the upheaval.
[Mysterious Merchant – Dark Moon]: @Changqing @NoisyKid @RedAsFire @CloudHawk @Chi Dragon @StoneTowardSky @GreenAsBlue @Qingxue @Razor
[Mysterious Merchant – Dark Moon]: All managers: organize the appeasement of believers, assess damages and casualties, and propose solutions ASAP.

After Zhou Qi’s messages, the previously nonstop chat feed suddenly quieted down.

He didn’t respond further, instead reposting the announcements on the forum and pinning the thread.

He also issued a task to staff: organize exploration of the new world’s surrounding areas.

Everyone, who’d been like headless chickens, suddenly regained direction and quickly sprang into action.

Although Tang Yu’an had successfully protected the Shangshen Home Base, the energy released from the world’s destruction and fusion was overwhelming. Even with divine power, earthquakes and structural collapses were unavoidable.

Fortunately, the wholesale market offered low-level healing potions—anyone not killed on the spot could be revived!

In their spare moments, people couldn’t help but turn their eyes to the strange new world outside.

The mutant creatures that had sought refuge inside the base were now lured away by the towering forest, scattering outward.

Seeing the sky-piercing trees and massive insects fluttering among them, people felt a chill in their hearts.

Yet the thought of being under the God of Commerce’s protection brought calm once again.

They vowed to always serve the God of Commerce, follow the teachings and commandments, and let his light forever shine over Shangshen Home!

Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi only issued high-level instructions—they didn’t get involved in the operations.

After all, they’d been away for five years. In that time, each region’s managers and staff had developed their own systems.

Even without them, Shangshen Home could run smoothly, continuously generating points—that is, transactional rule energy.

Now, they could also offer faith to Tang Yu’an. The relationship was mutually reinforcing—a stable, virtuous cycle.

After observing for a while and confirming everything was in order, Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi returned to the ship parked at the main store.

Tang Sheng, Tang Xueyun, and his sister Tang Yuxin were already waiting there.

Seeing that they were safe, all three finally breathed a sigh of relief.

As for Tang Yu’an becoming a god—the Tang family didn’t feel much about it. Or rather, they were already used to it.

Considering all the impossible things he’d done since coming back—like keeping a dragon and phoenix as pets—was this really so surprising?

Next, Tang Yu’an summoned Lin Zhen and Lan Lin back from the China world, where they’d been studying.

Now that the time ratio was so vast—one year in China equaled 30 years in this plane—it no longer made sense for them to stay there.

They also informed the government and conveyed the will of the God of Commerce:

The Commerce Faith welcomed people from China to develop in the new plane. This vast land was rich in resources, and humanity from both worlds should cooperate for mutual benefit.

Naturally, the Church of Commerce offered its protective barrier as shelter. The details of cooperation could be discussed further.

While China had already cleansed the mutated species from its homeland, global resource shortages still remained.

The invitation from the Peaceful Commerce Association was undoubtedly a lifeline.

And so, formal contact began. A series of cooperative agreements was signed between the two worlds.

After on-site surveys, China chose a location in the new plane as a foothold. Li Changqing established a new branch store there, activated its protective barrier and teleportation array, linking it to Shangshen Home.

The interdimensional array that connected to China was also moved to this new China branch store, officially handed over to national management.

If Tang Yu’an wanted to return to China in the future, he could simply use the main store’s teleportation system—no need to go through the China store.

China’s infrastructure speed was terrifying.

In less than half a year in the new plane, the China branch’s protective range had expanded to match that of Shangshen Home.

Five million people had already migrated to the new world.

Of course, that was just the resident population. A large transient population also moved between worlds—China had opened teleportation access to all citizens. Anyone could go to the new plane by purchasing a teleportation pass.

Truth be told, despite mutant monsters roaming outside, life in China’s safe zones remained mostly unchanged.

Traveling to the new plane quickly became a cost-effective vacation option.

After all, a month there only cost one day in China!

And with its vast resources, food scarcity wasn’t a concern. Just don’t leave the protected area—or you might not come back.

But the territories of Shangshen Home and China Home were massive. Even riding the bus around took a full month. No chance to be bored.

You could:
1/ Visit Desolate City Home for farm life and gossiping talking trees.
2/ Hike the Jufeng Mountains.
3/ Go to Coastal Home to see the “sea”—actually a lake in the giant forest.
4/ Visit Lanhu Forest to see “elves.”
5/ Visit Red Bee Town to eat honey.
6/ Herd sheep on the plains.
7/ Play in the snow and see icefire flowers at Ice Flame Fortress…

Honestly, what’s not to love about a vacation like this?

As more Chinese citizens arrived, Shangshen Home changed daily. The Peace Coin created by Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi also gained wide acceptance.

After all, vending machines didn’t take paper cash, and Peace Coin was super convenient.

It stayed cool in summer and warm in winter, didn’t need charging, and was practically perfect—naturally, it was a hit.

Later, Tang Yu’an and Zhou Qi even used purple-thousand-leaf plants to create an insect-repelling currency variant, which opened up an even broader market.

Looking at the ever-evolving home base, Tang Yu’an felt a deep sense of accomplishment.

“Brother Qi!”

“Yeah?”

“Let’s go explore other planes! The system says the main store can enter ‘message bottle mode’ and drift to new worlds via the Dream Sea!”

This was a feature unlocked when the store reached level I5 max level.

Zhou Qi was tempted—but before he could answer, Tang Yu’an grabbed his hand and said, “Let’s go on our honeymoon, okay?”

H-Honeymoon…

(//o////0//)

“We haven’t even gotten married yet! How can it be a honeymoon?” Zhou Qi stammered.

“Then let’s go register at the Home Office! Come on, let’s find Grandpa!”

“Wha—this is way too fast!”

Even so, Zhou Qi didn’t resist and let Tang Yu’an pull him toward Desolate City Home…

Under the radiant sunlight, hand in hand just like they were at the beginning—from childhood through youth—they now stepped into a bright and blissful future that belonged to them alone.
