Daily Life of Being Turned Gay by the Male Lead After Transmigrating into an Apocalypse – CH29

Hotel

Chapter 29: Hotel

Hearing this, Chu Yang turned his head to look at Jiang Jue, his face full of pleading. “Brother Jiang… what do you think?”

Jiang Jue’s brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

To him, this vehicle was not just a means of transportation, but also a relatively private, secure sanctuary for him and Chu Yang in the apocalypse. Instinctively, he was averse to letting outsiders step inside.

But as his gaze met Chu Yang’s eyes, which were shining with eager anticipation, he remained silent for a few seconds. Ultimately, he gave a slight nod, his voice devoid of any emotion: “Fine. But once you find another vehicle, we part ways.”

“No problem! Thank you, Brother Jiang! Brother Jiang, you’re the absolute best!”

Chu Yang beamed immediately, patting his chest with a bright grin before turning to Lin Xiao and the others. “Did you hear that? Brother Jiang agreed! But remember the deal—once you find a suitable car, you’re on your own!”

Lin Xiao and the other two naturally nodded in eager agreement.

With the matter settled, the group boarded the vehicle.

Su Mubai and the others curiously examined the interior of the RV. The spacious driver’s cab in the front, the large, plush-looking bed in the back, the pristine independent bathroom, and the fully functional kitchenette—everything here was an unimaginable luxury in the apocalypse.

“My god, there’s even a real bed back here!” Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but exclaim.

She had spent the past few days running for her life and sleeping rough, leaving her completely exhausted. Seeing such a comfortable mattress, her eyes lit up instantly. Almost by instinct, she walked toward the back, intending to lie down and rest.

Lin Xiao and Su Mubai were much more tactful. They exchanged a quick glance and quietly took a seat at the small dining table in the middle of the carriage.

Out of the corner of his eye, Chu Yang caught Lin Weiwei’s movement. He subtly shifted sideways, stepping in front of the bed to block her path.

Although he kept a polite smile on his face, his tone left absolutely no room for negotiation: “Miss Lin, it gets pretty bumpy back here while we’re driving. It’s not safe to sit on the bed. You’d better take a seat up front with the others.”

He didn’t consider himself a neat freak, but deep down, he viewed the bed where he and Jiang Jue slept as their private space, and he strongly disliked the idea of sharing it with outsiders.

Lin Weiwei froze, a flash of obvious displeasure crossing her face.

She opened her mouth to argue, but after glancing between Chu Yang’s firm smile and Jiang Jue’s icy expression up front, she weighed her options and ultimately swallowed her words. With a disgruntled “Oh,” she turned around and squeezed into the seat next to Lin Xiao.

Seeing this, Chu Yang finally breathed a sigh of relief. He quickly walked back to the passenger seat and sat down.

The heavy vehicle roared to life and continued its journey toward N City.

As they drove, the sky gradually darkened. Twilight descended over the wilderness, carrying a bone-chilling draft.

Passing by the entrance of a modest-looking town, Chu Yang carefully observed the buildings through the window.

“Brother Jiang, it’s completely dark now. This town looks okay; let’s head in and find a place to crash for the night, shall we?” he suggested, turning his head.

Jiang Jue’s gaze swept across the edge of the settlement. After a moment of contemplation, he nodded, steering the wheel and steadily guiding the RV into the town.

The number of zombies wandering the streets wasn’t overwhelming, but there were still quite a few. Hearing the low rumble of the engine, they immediately roared and shambled out from abandoned shops and alleyways, surrounding the vehicle.

“Just in time for a quick warm-up!”

Chu Yang was the first to jump out of the cab. A spatial attack instantly condensed in his palm, and he hurled it with pinpoint accuracy, smashing the skull of the nearest zombie.

Lin Xiao followed closely behind, manipulating sharpened metal blades with his ability to quickly clear out the approaching infected.

Jiang Jue stood quietly behind Chu Yang, arcs of blue lightning flickering across his fingers. Any zombie that managed to slip too close to Chu Yang and pose a real threat was instantly and accurately sniped by a lethal bolt of electricity.

Working together seamlessly, the group quickly cleared the street in front of a nearby building.

Chu Yang wiped the dark bloodstains from his gloves and pointed to the structure, which bore a faded sign reading XX Hotel. “Brother Jiang, I think this place will do. Why don’t we stay here tonight?”

Jiang Jue looked up. It was a standalone, three-story building, and its overall structure looked relatively intact. He gave a brief nod. “Fine.”

The group cautiously stepped into the first-floor lobby. It was completely deserted, featuring only collapsed furniture and dried bloodstains; there were no zombies in sight.

They carefully made their way up the stairs to the second floor.

Just as they pushed open the door to the very first room, a rotting arm suddenly shot out from the dark!

“Holy sh*t!” Chu Yang jumped back in surprise.

Jiang Jue, walking right behind him, reacted with blinding speed. Almost reflexively, he raised his hand. A tiny arc of lightning flashed in the gloom, instantly charring the zombie and sending it crashing to the floor.

“The second floor isn’t secure,” Jiang Jue said in a deep voice, casting a wary glance down the dark, deep corridor.

“Then let’s check the third floor!” Chu Yang immediately replied.

The group continued upward.

Upon reaching the third floor, they carefully swept several rooms and the main hallway, confirming there were no traces of zombie activity on this level.

Chu Yang immediately perked up. He inspected the doors one by one, finally selecting the room that looked the cleanest and offered the best view from the window. “This is the one!” he announced happily. “I call dibs on this room!”

After claiming it, he subconsciously muttered to himself, “Before, in the RV, we only had one bed, so I had to squeeze in with Brother Jiang. But now that there are so many empty rooms…”

His gaze drifted unconsciously toward Jiang Jue, and he asked tentatively, “Brother Jiang, look at all these rooms. Which one are you going to take?”

The moment he finished speaking, Jiang Jue didn’t even glance at the other doors. He simply strode forward, walking straight past Chu Yang and into the suite he had just chosen, delivering the most direct answer possible with his actions.

Chu Yang was stunned for a second, but then an inexplicable sense of relief washed over him, accompanied by a sudden flutter of quiet joy.

He scratched his head and muttered softly, “Heh, sleeping in the same room is good too—it’s safer!”

Truth be told, he had long grown accustomed to Jiang Jue’s presence; the powerful sense of security he provided simply couldn’t be matched by sleeping alone.

Nearby, Su Mubai looked at the remaining rooms. His gaze drifted briefly to Lin Xiao, whose arm was currently being held gently by Lin Weiwei. Su Mubai’s eyes dimmed slightly, but he said nothing, silently choosing a room right next door to Chu Yang’s. “I’ll take this one,” he said quietly.

Meanwhile, Lin Weiwei was calculating rapidly in her head: Lin Xiao is a very capable Ability User. Even though we haven’t known each other long, clinging to someone this strong will definitely make surviving the apocalypse much easier.

With that in mind, she immediately looked up, adopting a look of fragile dependency, and spoke to Lin Xiao in a sweet, coquettish tone: “Brother Xiao… I’m scared to sleep alone. It’s pitch black in here. Could I… stay in the same room as you?”

Hearing this, Chu Yang immediately nudged Lin Xiao with his elbow, throwing him a teasing wink that clearly said, You lucky dog.

Lin Xiao’s face flushed with embarrassment, and he waved his hands frantically in refusal. “No, no, no! Weiwei, that’s… that wouldn’t be appropriate! There are plenty of empty rooms, so let’s just sleep separately. Don’t worry, I’ll take the room right next to yours! If anything happens, just shout and I’ll hear you immediately!”

Seeing that Lin Xiao was completely firm in his refusal, Lin Weiwei was forced to pout reluctantly and drop the issue.

Once everyone had settled in, Chu Yang slipped into the bathroom of their suite. Although the tap water had long since been cut off, he retrieved a basin of clean water from his spatial storage, gave himself a quick sponge bath, and changed into comfortable pajamas, feeling vastly refreshed.

Jiang Jue completed his own cleanup in a similarly concise and efficient manner.

Sitting on the bed, Chu Yang happily counted out the twenty-something crystal cores they had harvested from the earlier skirmish. “Brother Jiang, here! Let’s split the haul!”

He divided the glowing stones into two equal piles and pushed one toward Jiang Jue.

Jiang Jue looked at the pile, picked up a few stones from his side, and placed them back onto Chu Yang’s pile. “You contributed more to the fight. You should take more.”

“Oh, come on, Brother Jiang, why are you being so polite with me! If you weren’t holding down the fort, how could I have fought so freely?”

Chu Yang pushed the extra cores firmly back across the mattress, leaving no room for argument as he began laying on the flattery thick. “Besides, you’re practically a war god! Your combat power is off the charts. What are a few extra cores to you? We’ll definitely farm way more in the future! Just take them!”

Jiang Jue looked at the boy’s bright, insistent eyes, a faint trace of warmth flickering deep within his own gaze before he finally accepted the stones.

With the loot sorted, Chu Yang walked over to the window, watching the pitch-black night outside as the freezing wind howled against the glass. He rubbed his hands together briskly, turned around, and said to Jiang Jue with immense enthusiasm, “Brother Jiang, it’s way too cold tonight. Eating something hot would be absolutely perfect! Since Lin Xiao and Little Bai are here too, what do you think we should make for dinner?”

Jiang Jue watched Chu Yang’s face light up at the mere mention of food. Yet, his mind unexpectedly flashed back to the seamless, familiar, and entirely natural banter between Chu Yang, Lin Xiao, and Su Mubai earlier in the day.

An inexplicably subtle, heavy feeling—one he hadn’t yet fully identified—quietly settled over his heart.

He remained silent for a long moment before answering in an indifferent, seemingly casual tone, “Are you three… very close?”

Chu Yang was currently busy searching through his spatial storage for ingredients. Hearing the question, he didn’t even look up, answering matter-of-factly, “Close? Of course we’re close! Lin Xiao and Little Bai are my best buddies from college! You wouldn’t know, but when the apocalypse first broke out, the three of us hid out and fled the campus together, watching each other’s backs the whole time. That’s a brotherhood forged in life and death!”

Listening to him chatter away with such fond nostalgia, and watching the pure, untroubled smile that completely banished any trace of gloom from his face, the dark emotions deep in Jiang Jue’s eyes stirred, almost imperceptibly.

Ultimately, those complex thoughts were buried beneath a calm, flat reply:

“I see. Whatever you decide to cook is fine.”
